Ayling, Pontus, Moore, Douglas would be a cracking back 4. Still a little sparse if he wants to go with his favoured back 3 though, would like to see two CB come in.

Even if we do sign Vydra and Douglas we will still need an out and out front man as well. Vydra has shown he is class at this level playing off a front man but not really effective as the front man himself. So if these signings go ahead a striker and a classic winger will still be needed. We haven't got a wide man that can go past defenders and put in a decent cross. The ones we have used out wide - Alioski, Sacko, Roofe Hernandez and Dallas can't deliver in that respect. Good goal scorers require good service. We need a player in the Ince mould but obviously not Ince. We might have one coming up from the academy or a Maddison. We are getting (hopefully ) but a way to go yet.

I am already feeling a little sorry for Vydra and we haven't even bought him yet. If he does pull on a white shirt the weight of expectation will lie heavily on his shoulders. I hope for his sake he comes out of the traps flying and scores at least a brace in the first game. With all the prolonged negotiations, the fee and the smashing of the wage barrier he has to be the great white hope of a footballing nation.

For the record. he’ll be pulling on a white shirt if he joins us or stays put with Lampard.

Of course, only one of them is worth wearing. and filling that shirt comes with rxpectatations whether
yer earning 5K or 40K.

But he should know we’ll be cheering him and backingg him to the hilt no matter his income so long as he’s putting in a hard shift every week.

No, but only because we supposedly still want 4 in. Douglas might make it in time, Vydra too if they can rush it all through. Still linked with a CB (maybe the most important looking at how porous our defence has been over pre season) and a winger. Would be worried AF if Cooper is seen as part of our best 11 so we def need at least 1 CB.
