The Wendies manager will be under a hell of a lot of pressure on Sunday, if Wendies don't get a result against us that will be three defeats on the trot, so the sack might be on its way! This just might work to our advantage as the will be nervy and their fans will start getting on their backs if they don't score early! Here's hoping! MOT

Anybody read the current bun today? It said in a box above the match report that it's 49 games since Leeds United had a 0-0 draw! Weve already had 2 0-0s this season! I've tried to work out what they meant but I can't, can anyone enlighten me? MOT

Alright lads, read a post lower down concerning Pennington, said he'll be class then return to Everton, I agree he most likely will, however, at cultural leonnesa we have Bouy, a centre back who is almost a playmaker and a dead ball specialist, I reckon once penns is gone, he'll slip into his place, any thoughts on bouy? love to hear the replies.

I think if the ref had a better handle on the game last night we would have been happier today in fairness he left Cardiff kick us about the place first half and I think that was the reason Cooper lost the head

We missed an O'kane in front of back four, also Gk is not good enough, would have started with Lassie big and strong also as we have seen Ali not good against big strong players . But as well as a mere from Coops are passing was s**t .

Wexleeds had another look at the game tonight, I think the ref was a Cardiff fan all smiles and joking with them, cooper card was marked for sticking up for his teammate you can see he face of the ref which said right you Git next one I will have you and that's what' happened the red was a red and you can't get away from that, the team was not a team no togetherness as before the passing was poortomany long ball which came right back we lost every long ball we can go on and on but it over the next one is what we should be looking at. ❀️Leeds

I'm with Wex on the point of Friend the ref, he did not do us any favours in the first half and he let them off with a lot which they have them the upper hand, Hernandez got kicked off the park, Phillips and Roofe backed out of a lot of tackles and Cooper, well he just lost his head, and like a few on here have said, why did he slow down before he tackled, absolutely bizarre! That being said about the ref, with these sort of games TC has to be one step ahead, he has to prepare better and think like they do, we sometimes will have to see how far we can push the ref with out getting booked. This league is not all about fancy football as Newcastle found out last season, it sometimes is about having the balls to dig in, hopefully he will work it out. MOT

I feel Cooper should have his but kicked all the way back to ER. Yes he had made a good start to the season but he reverted back to type last night. He is a liability. Always heart in mouth when he’s in the side and teams are launching crosses into our penalty box. I hope Pennington gets a good run in the team alongside PJ. Cooper is a bench man at best. The manner of his red card last night was unforgivable, and he’s captain? Cardiff defended well and they created their goals well but we never had a chance with ten men.

Philips only stopped tackling after his yellow That kid never knowingly backs down He played smart, stayed on the pitch. Which is what coops should have done. Can't fly in like that at the best of times, especially just after a booking Learn from it, move on.

Ok. So i had the misfortune of watching the match but chose to spare myself to much grief and only watched injury time first half and all second. My first sight of leeds this season. Think tc got it all wrong. Think goalkeeper is iffy Thought aloiski lightweight. Dallas is a sub not a starter Pennington didn't impress me at all Pontus good but not leading as well as last season Roofe just not physical enough for cardiff Well done to ayling. Berahdi. Klitch. Phillips. But. And a big but Even though we were poor. We held our own with 10 men and i tell you what. we were 10 times better than the dross of last season. We are better team. Better players. Pass better. Work harder. Things will come good again. But tc needs to learn more about championship soccer or talk to someone that knows it. His fault we lost that.

Ayling was decent with the ball aus, but tbh I thought hoilet had him on toast when attacking him, and I seem to recall he did the same at ER last season, to be fair to Ayling, he's the only player I have seen at our level that he's struggled with. and for me personally I think Ayling has been in our top 3 performers so far this season. agree on keeper, def work to be done on the training ground with him.

Ausman, can't agree on Pennington as he has played well this season and seemed ok when he came on. Klitch looked a bit suspect and his mistake for First goal. Phillips seemed off the pace and didn't play well at all. Roofe showed when he got some service he can finish. As for Felix, just don't rate him, it's like having Silvester back in goal.

Just been reading The Times write up of last night. They describe Warnock's style of football as that of "an old school scuffler". In light of last night and the Millwall game, I don't think that TC has yet got the measure of those types of team's and has no idea how to outmaneuvre them. We need to remember that where he has managed before, he will not have encountered that style of play, but I trust him to work it out in good time. No need to worry just yet. Let's not be overly critical of any of the players yet. Onwards and upwards me thinks! ps I kinda knew that Warnock would know how to orchestrate our undoing. the big nosed fuk'r.

Last night the selection did not make sense. In theory, playing Roofe up front was to allow quick interchange of passing (on the floor) to bypass their obvious physicality. In reality, Roofe went missing as he is not a focal point when playing up front and Bamba sat in front of the centre defence and shielded any balls played to Roofe. Hernandez being moved to centre attacking midfield made no sense as he has enjoyed the freedom (and lack of close attention) whilst playing on the left wing, I also feel that Hernandez is not physically capable of playing games on Saturday and then Tuesday. Saiz would have ripped Bamba to pieces with his all action style. To leave two of our best players in Lassoga and Saiz out for a top of the table clash was utter madness and contributed to a laboured passing display. PS. Cooper getting sent off did not help matters but the damage was already done by then.

27 Sep 2017 11:57:53
I can only assume that his Sunday League tackle was compounded by his inate lack of timing. Having watched Coopers second yellow again, coming across to cover he was in a position to clear the ball into row Z but for some inexplicable reason he seemed to slow down for a split second which then meant that he arrived after the ball and the only thing going into row Z was the player. A great lack of skillfull defending fit for lower leagues at best. I bet Gordon is regretting his call up now or is that the level of Scottish defending? Whilst he had looked a reformed character he showed last night that he still has that Sunday League in him and TC will worry that it could emerge in the penalty box sometime in the future.

Cooper has had a great start to the season but he has more than a mistake within him when he loses his head. I felt that he became too embroiled with a Ref who was making questionable decisions (Kevin Friend is no friend of Leeds) and lost concentration. At least we get to see Pontus with Pennington which may be a more natural fit

Let's give the guy the credit he rightly has deserved, and received this season, eh? He messed up big time last night, has apologised to team mates and fans alike, and the important think now, is how he comes back from his ban; will he have learned? Funny last week he was a revelation, a reborn defender bla bla bla. Now he's the Sunday league player he always was. Ffs. Get off his back. ! He was obviously pissed off at the lack of help in front off him. Phillips gave the ball away needlessly, trying to be cool on the ball. Bang ! goal. ! The same Phillips that always gave the ball away needlessly before he scored a few this season. Think the keepers position for the 2nd was wrong. Then the sending off. ! He defo lost his head as has just had a row with the ref over the fouls on any Leeds player wasn't getting the awarded free they deserved. Then it was uphill from then on in. But let's face it. I think we would have done well to come away with a draw before the game. So with ten men we still showed fighting spirit. Pennington came on and done well. Dunno what game ausman watched. πŸ™ˆπŸ‘€πŸ˜ƒ. But big game needed on Sunday and a win too get us back on track. Not the doom n gloom some think. MOT. βš½οΈβš½οΈπŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

I'm still one for saying let's spend the money from the Wood sale on Kyle Bartley. With Leeds looking like real promotion contenders and the way Swansea have started this season I don't think he would take much convincing. Agree deal now to move in January. Can't help but think if he was there with Pontus last night the outcome would've been very different. I think Nessy would be a good back up to Jansson / Bartley and also fear that Pennington will be class for us only to reutrn to scouseland at the end of the season. A defensive headache is something we can do without this season to allow us to play attractive football midfield and upfront. Make it happen Victor . MOT .

Too niave, away at top 6 team you have to go there with a view to battle for a result, Not go out to try and play pretty football, they set up with Bamba in mid field . Grot up front and Nessy in mid field should have started for us . You have to win the battle to then play your pretty football . Learning curve for TC, think or hope he should get up to speed fast on the Championship. Coops deserved to go. Plenty of fouls against our players not given . Some of the players need to also get up to speed quick regarding British refs

Wexleeds1 my "model county" friend, in reply to your Grot question, think you sometimes need a horses for courses approach . Think with the Grot you have a more physical presence. To an opposing centre back physically Grot is more of a handful than Roofe. Would have started Roofe on the right ( It's all with the benefit of hindsight of course ! ) . Need to play our bigger more physical players in these type of games . Think most teams now will approach our fixture in the same way as Millwall and Cardiff have, trying to bully our smaller players . Not too bad at ER but away from home with a home team ref we need a different approach

Come on lads let's not start singling a couple of players out for one defeat. Fact is whole team were below par. Who knew defence would put a shift like that in, and the whole midfield would be anonymous. You can't say playing Viera would have made a big difference. We will get games like this and that's one out of the way. It shows Saiz is important to the team as is O, Kane but we will have to play without them at times. Phillips struggles with the two day break does not seem to recuperate so good as others. Would say though that if OKane is out need Viera in as lacked the bite last night.

Anyone who knows Warnock could have predicted this type of game but unfortunately our coach is still learning. TC tried an inventive approach to the issue and tried to find a way to still play flowing footie but I think for some games you just have to match a team on their terms and go head to head - particularly at their place. We march on. Together.

Personally I think last night showed that TC will learn some hard lessons this year. He's used to pretty tika taka stuff and the less physical game they play in Europe. I'm certain he does all the scouting and homework possible, but I think he needs to realise that in the championship you need to really battle and that pretty passing sometimes goes out of the window.

I guess like the rest of you guys Iam feeling down about the Cardiff result. Losing is part of the game and in this league we know anyone can beat anyone, games come thick and fast. It's the manner of the defeat that got to me. I like others on this site had been asking for certain players to get a run out, but some of TCs changes baffled me. Why drop Lassogga? Not start Saiz? Where was O'Kane? . Too many of our players choose the same night to have a bad game. I do believe TC will get things more right than wrong, but he needs to learn flair players like Hernandez are not right for some matches. Teams will always raise their game against us, we need to be less predictable at times. Felix does not seem to instill confidence in his defence, reminds me of Silvestry, typically foreign keeper, would rather punch than catch the ball and terrible with anything crossed into our box. I know he could not be blamed for all the goals last night, but think he is very average.

Flying to and from Germany hardly a longhaul flight, not much difference to some players travelling up and down the country. Lasogga has been playing well and has put the team before his personal issues, for him to make the effort to return from Germany for this match and not even get off the bench, does not show him the same level of faith in my opinion. At least start him and take him off if he is showing signs of fatigue.

Poor performance tonight. A few thoughts. O'Kane not playing made a huge difference. Cooper reverted to type - reminded of his game against Sutton. Anybody still thinks Roofe is good enough to play through the middle - don't think so. Hoillet was the type of winger we have been looking - fast with good control and with an eye for goal not like our light weight Alioski whose taken to falling down with no good reason. He has potential but like Sacko he is too easily pushed off the ball. He looks good when teams give him a bit of space but he doesn't look good under pressure. Hoillet is much stronger and resilient. I lost count of the times he rode tackles and created space for other. Roofe and Alioski looked pedestrian by comparison. Fortunately for Leeds he has temperament problems and he probably will lose form before long and Cardiff won't be as good without him. Grot is still raw. Finally the goal keeper is in a different league - Sunday league I think. We will come back stronger and I hope Christianson learns from the experience. We have a lot of players with potential that are not there yet. With O'Kane and Lasogga out, Cooper reverting to type (pity he has been playing well) and a German keeper that is poor to say the least we will make the mistakes that will cost us. I work on the premise that if we, on average win our home games and draw away we will get enough points for automatic promotion. In that context we only dropped a point tonight and we are still averaging two points a game. A win on Sunday puts us back ahead of the game.

Not really sure what Weidwald did wrong tonight Hess. First goal Cooper caught ball watching and a tap in, couldn't move off the front post or the winger slots it in, Second a decent strike, he was pretty central and didn't get to it, wasnt horridly out of position and it moves about a bit so I don't blame him for that, Third he makes a decent stop and puts the ball as wide as possible, needed a little help from the D on that one, not like he pushed it into the middle of the area. Not saying he is the greatest ever but a good number of players in the queue for who F'd up tonight ahead of him.

Gummie, good point about the keeper, but for me he doesn't give the feeling of confidence which should come from this position, he needs to read the game better but there's something about this position at the moment that's not right don't really no what that something is if you understand my meaning,

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Sep 2017 08:06:10
Weidwald doesn't fill me with confidence. Positioning a bit suspect and puts us under pressure when he makes the wrong decisions when playing ball short. Not sure whether he should have done better with Hoillets goal and might have got a stronger hand on the cross that led to the third. But last night was not about the keeper its the reasoning for the changes. If the players that were left out were unfit that's fine but, if not, to tinker with a successful eleven and leave out your better players against a strong team is a huge mistake. O'Kane complements Phillips, Lasogga leads the line well and scores, Saiz is very busy and pulls a lot of strings. Dallas has done well coming on late on but usually is not effective over 90 minutes. Klich is a laid back type of mid fielder with a lot going for him but needs a more solid partner like Vierra to make the midfield balanced. You ca legislate for Cooper - probably thinking he was better than he is now he is back in the Scotland squad and was distracted. Hernandez often goes missing during physical away games. Saving players for the next game doesn't work if you lose the first one.
