Was Peter Haddock still at club when we won the league? I'm pretty sure he was there the year before but can't remember him even on the bench the next year. Probably a silly question I know but the ole brain is not what it was.

Corky The simple answer as I recall is yes. He was at the club during the title winning season. However, he played no games as he attempted to recover from an injury sustained in February of the previous season (February 1991) against the old enemy in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against the old enemy when I recall Lee Sharpe frequently skinning Mel Sterland. Fish never recovered so retired from the game and into obscurity during our victorious season. Hope that's helpful. I rated him and Rennie.

Always liked Fish. Shame for him that it ended that way.

Cheers George it’s all coming back to me now. Always liked Peter and you’re right about Rennie too, good player in defence and also not bad in midfield. Them were the days 🥃.

I can't do jokes but I'll try a quick quiz question for you. Which Leeds footballer will have most interest in the Ryder cup and why?

Suits you was ‘The Fast Show’ with Paul Whitehouse and ‘I don’t think you wanted to do that’ was the Harry Enfield show I think, also featuring Paul Whitehouse.

Interesting article on news now from Kiche about bielsas methods entitled exhausted players have been grumbling about bielsas methods! the title would suggest discord but he goes on to say how the players get it and respect him.

click bate mate you know how they work, i have geared loads of interviews all talking about respect and how impressed they are. don't think they love him as much as pogba love mourinho but then relationship that strong is rare.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Sep 2018 18:16:39
I think The interview is quite an honest view of how the players found it. The key as ever is results. If we had lost all the games so far, Bielsa would probably be toast and taking the blame for a plan that could never work in the Championship! So far so good but a run of poor results will bring out more grumbles! Big night tomorrow, real chance for the players to show what they can do and squash the here we go again, worries! I think Bielsa has shown his faith in the players, most of us would have subbed 1/ 2, now is their chance to repay him in front of the cameras!

It’s a heading designedto sound like it is complaints whereas it is actually complimentary toward Bielsa. Typical dirty click bait trick.

Okay Let's dream.
If one of you were to win the Euro millions would you spend half of it investing in Leeds United? A gamble too far? What would the Mrs say?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Sep 2018 15:29:13
I wouldn't put half in but would invest a few million just so I could say I was a shareholder - the Mrs wouldn't mind but Christmas is getting closer ( that one's for that attention of George)

While talking about all these midfielders, one of the best that very rarely gets mentioned is Tony Currie, a very gifted player.

Or Duncan Mckenzie, chain smoker and incredible ball thrower!

my step dad raved about currie and Mckenzie. Shame fans from my era no little of either, plently on Revie team (rightly so) but trying find anything pre prem league apart from Revie era is nearly impossible. Which is a shame as tervor cherry and tony currie and mckenzie were meant to be class and I don't think i have seen any kick a ball for leeds.

27 Sep 2018 11:43:44
Used to like Currie and McKenzie. And cherry. All good players on their day. Think Currie and McKenzie struggled with consistency if I remember rightly.

When I first started going as a kid in the 80's, it was all about the likes of Aiden Butterworth, Scott Sellars, and the main man, John Sheridan who was a quality player in that era.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Sep 2018 13:32:45
Yeah. I liked Sheridan. Great passer of a ball.

Tony Currie was an amazing player but his biggest problem at Leeds was his wife wasn't happy and wanted to move back to London (which I assume is where she was from) hence we sold him to QPR.

Tony Currie was playing in the first Leeds game I ever saw, against us for the blunts when Yorkshire still played cricket at Bramall Lane. We won 3 - 1 if I remember correctly, but the weird ground is the thing that sticks in my head most.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Sep 2018 20:37:43
Big Duncan was a show pony but Currie was a player. He scored some amazing goals for us and he could pass almost as good as Giles and Sheridan.
I have to reiterate that Jones was nowhere near Batty in any respect. David was a superb player but never showed off his passing range until Newcastle where he was encouraged to play more. Wilko never really let him play.
