Surely Fat Boy Steve will rest a few tomorrow night. Prime candidates for resting are surely

Wooton
Cooper
Dallas
Wood

This should see Coyle debut, Bamba, a rare Sloth appearance and return to starting lineup of the bearded wonder.

Agree with 3 of them Georgy boy think bellusci should make way for Bamba, as I said to Hess lad. He is too mistake prone and not disciplined enough, neither is Bamba to be fair but is slightly more consistent than bellusci, it is why I think we need to find a strong experienced no nonsense type like Huth at Leicester, not sure where we will find someone like that but hey y never know dudes looking forward to Derby match. Can't be there tomorrow but will be there for the Rotherham revenge mot fellow leeds sufferers 😎.

Cooper is a drop not a rest for me with Bamba back in. can't see him bringing Coyle in for his first start against the team in 2nd so Wootton probably stays. Dallas looked tired after about 60 mins the other day so needs the rest but could start then subbed for Doukara or Botaka if not then Doukara over Sloth, he is more of a mid/ attacking mid not a winger.

Gummie

I say Cooper is a rest because of his previous good form and it is his fairly long run in the team which is no doubt responsible for the dip. If Bamba and Bellusci play well together (is this even possible? ) against Derby Liam will have to wait his turn again. No bad thing.

I go the other way on Coyle. Fna fna very funny. May as well give him his debut. If he underperforms his confidence can instantly be rescued by saying it was against 2nd place. If he performs then we know we got a RB for real for real once Byram joins Merseyside. Play Coyle. Nothing to lose.

With interest I read all of the comments about Beluscci playing with Bamba, I thought Belussci got his 5th yellow card against forest, I thought this would mean he misses the next game. is this correct Ed?

{Ed001's Note - yes, 5 yellow cards is an automatic one match ban at this stage of the season.}

For everyone that has a go at Wood I really think they need a reality check. £3m is not a lot for a striker at championship level, it just seems a lot because we haven't spent that much in a while. Afobe is supposedly rated at 15m and Rhodes 16m, those two have only scored 2 a piece more so far. As for the top scorers in the league Burnley payed £9m for Gray, Fulham £11m for McCormack. As for Forestieri, for everyone complaining we didn't sign him instead, he didn't want to come to Leeds. We had an offer accepted, we tabled a contract and he said he wasnt interested in signing for Leeds to the media so we dropped the offer, stop going on about him.
Wood can hit 20+ at this level, he was a 1 in 2 striker for the first 10 games (Also 11 in 19 at Millwall and 9 in 20 one season at Leicester) and we played some good teams during that time. He had a little slump and everyone turned on him, no wonder he is lacking confidence. He just needs a lucky break to give him it back and he will go on another run of goals. let's be fair he still has half a season to score 4 goals, would make him better than anyone last year. Final point Rosco only managed 2 his first year at Leeds and he went on to do pretty well for us. Maybe try raising his spirits than kicking him down.
Rant over.

It's really important to support your team and players however you must also be objective and as much as I wish Wood was good enough I doubt he is. Our past is littered with strikers who couldn't do it at Leeds and that doesn't mean their not good enough it's just the pressure of playing for a big club and not everyone can cope.
For example David Healey, Robbie Blake, Sharp, creswell etc These players could all do it but for whatever reason we didn't see the best of them.

Football is all about opinions as we all know, but IMO he hasn't shown us yet that he is a natural goalscorer.
He's only scored 5 goals from open play, which for a price tag of £3m isn't good enough.
What I'm trying to say is that if we'd have played any of our players at centre forward they would have scored as many as Wood has.

I agree that football is about opinions. I take your point and as a leeds fan I want the best for our club and would like wood to do well. I say drop him and play him in the under 21's so he can find his scoring boots. We have to be fair to players and Byram was dropped for his performances according to Evans so wood should be dropped too. Let him get fitter and be taught the same composure as Byram has. In fact stick Byram up front he knows how to make room for himself on the ball and score. Wood doesn't appear to have any composure for a striker. Sorry but that's how I feel.

You not wrong Liverlass. Wood is not a natural goalscorer. He could be but not yet. What he can do is score out of nothing. He's like Huckerby was just without the pace or more precisely like a David White. Wood must get rid of his cursed feet though. Bet JFH could teach him thing or two.

I would bring stokes in if Celtic would let him go in Jan problem is there's still big diff in standards of play between leagues so nt sure if he would hit ground running that's what we need and bring bridgy in on a permanent if we can? There's nt many good strikers out there in Jan a lot of dross though where clubs want to unload!

yes wood isn't a centre forward more the type who plays off someone . can't head the ball for toffees.

Great performance against florist. It's my opinion Wood is not going to be our prolific striker we badly need, lost patience with him. Sorry he has got to go.

If MC is serious at having a crack at promotion he needs to do some business January, bring in a decent proven striker, a commanding batty type midfielder, and a classy defender.

I don't have any suggestions but please no Lafferty, Nolan, Bentley, Becchio, these are not good enough as they are bench warmers, reserve players or sick notes who would only drain the transfer kitty and wage bill.

I still can't get my head round why we did not sign Forestieri from Watford when we had the chance, too much dithering and fanning on about wages. If they're history and form says they are good enough pay them the fair wage, Byram will leave, Bridcut will go elsewhere and it will be MC tight @rses fault. SE is deluded about Wood, please get rid.

I wouldn't get rid of wood I'd just leave him on bench n see what happens. Not everyone turns up in there first season.

With January nearly upon us I hope that SE/ MC look for a forward that the adjective prolific can be attached to.
The likes of Lafferty (and in the past Avenatti) whilst probably good leaders of the line do not seem to be natural goal scorers. Would it not be a calculated gamble to cast the net further and wider (and deeper) to unearth a true striker that makes defences sweat every time he gets the ball. You may have to look at L1 or some minnow country but they are out there. Did I not hear a Forest player from the Cape Verde Islands.

Problem is getting them up to speed for championship, could be into april before ready. Need someone who can hit the target. Would rather put Wilks or Stokes in their than buy unknown. Nakhi Wells would have been decent. Hope Erwin proves to be good. If we strentghen defence then maybe midfield would get in the box more.

well what to do sam needs a better offer . bridcutt buy him that solves that . i think 3others out of contract 16/ 17 so get them long term . need centre half and striker . some players signed when mc 1st came havnt played so time for them to move on . get a couple more and then climb up the league and get back to prem.

Bianchi been injured but think he will play a part this season. Sloth been overlooked in my opinion, better than Murphy. Think rest of his signings are getting playing time.

If its true Liverpool and Everton in for Byram he would be a fool not to go. Think he would get games with both and we may get a decent fee for him if both bid. Hopefully Evans will have Botaka ready by then to slot in wide right.

28 Dec 2015 11:07:45
If those teams come in for him he will go. Hopefully with the goals he has scored has raised his price. Thanks Ed 001 for pointing out we won't get all the money from the fee.
Some always moan whenever we sell a player and expect whatever the fee is to be spent on players. Think the player gets something like 6%. So out of a £5 million fee, we'll be lucky to get over 3.5. We should sign Bridcutt, with the money we get.

Pleased with game today
Played well and prob deserved all 3
A few observations.
I watched Wooten all game and I think he is solid enough. Worked really hard!
I won't criticise the obviously blaring mistake Evans made with a 1-4-1-4 system. Playing only 10 players a huge mistake!
Thought bridcutt. Taylor. And Byram were fantastic today. We need all here in feb. bridcutt def.
overall though. A huge improvement on the last game I saw!
Looking more comfortable and confident. Just need to play 11 players next game.

Yeah I was pleased with it too. Bearing in mind they haven't dropped points at home since the end of October. Thought bridcutt was excellent as was Taylor. Even wooton looked ok . The mistake aside I thought Belusci was also very good. For the first time in ages feeling quite positive, we're coming good at the right time . It's just not happening for wood though, need to start ant.
