Isn't it funny how a few weeks ago when the signings started we ( even the George ) were really optimistic about new season and could see a decent finish maybe playoffs.
Now, the feeling is without at least two more signings we are doomed to mid table mediocricy again!
I wonder if feelings about team and this season would be different if we mullered Peterborough? Can one friendly make that much diff to popular opinion?

I disagree. Although the majority were pleased that the signings were meeting specific deficiencies i. e. speed and more attack minded players it was clear that the squad was still missing quality at centre back and in midfield, also the squad is very small and will not be able to absorb long term injuries, suspensions, loss of form. Therefore there was an expectation that these gaps would be filled before the season started. The window goes on until the end of August therefore there is still time however the club can no longer rely on the loan window therefore if they get it wrong they will only be able to put it right in the January window.

Can understand the emotion involved but most of us supporters have a good idea of the standard of football and what is required to get out of this league, most of us then think although we might be improved we still need a few more in that will really make a difference to the team . By comparison to the team ( Strachan, Vinny ETC ) we had when we got promotion to the old first division I would say we are well short.

Aus lad the signings look promising so far, particularly Antonsson and roofe, Sacko being likened to a whippet, green although he is occasionally prone to flap will bring much needed experience to the back four, need to see more of Bartley and grimes will definitely develop more under monk, I don't think any fan with a bit of nouse pays attention to results of friendlies, just think that some of us think we need a Bridcutt type, a Pritchard type and definitely another solid CB, but that kind of quality is going to take spending some of the funds we have received on fees and wages and is Mr cellino prepared to do that? I certainly hope so, if that doesn't happen then that is why some think we may be a little short to really make a challenge this year!

our league is all about form at the right time. I will always say about year palace were bottom at new year and went up, every year a form team comes from no where. at this point no one knows, with our manager I have faith we could do just as well as most (maybe apart from newcastle) we could also do as badly as mid table that's what makes our league so fun and unpredicatable.
