Read an article that Leeds have always been a selling club. At first I thought rubbish but after deliberation it seems right. From Revie, Jordan, McQueen, Gray, Greenoff, Graham, Snodin, Cantona and Baird have all been sold against fans wishes. At least we got Gordon. Some people think we are a big club! Never ever has that been the case. mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cantona was at it with Chapmans wife, he had to be sold

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong, he was at it with dorigos wife, chapman was the one who walled him up and told wilko its him or me!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that Leeds have never been a cash rich club so we have had to sell assets throughout our history.

In the periods of Revie & Wilkinson we had managers that were able to maximize this & trade astutely whilst using the youth system (or re-establishing it)

The issue for Leeds over the Years is that successive managers have not traded well & have neglected our youth, that is the problem.

Its not about being cash rich its about having the right longterm manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cantona said to wilko he wanted to be sold and wasn't coming back end of

Agree0 Disagree0

So how man top clubs give youth a chance, without vast amounts of cash theyd all be where we are.

Out of Contract players who would make good additions to squad
Ross Turnbull Chelsea GK get rid of Kenny
Elliot Ward Norwich, Christophe Berra Wovles, Nicky Shorry Reading all CBs anyone of these would make add to squad
Jerome Thomas Florent Malouda LM either would be first choice Vicente Brighton good addition if fit
Hitzelsperger Everton, McCann Burnley Bailey Middlebourgh Jay Tabb Reading all as good or better then what we have,
Helguson Cardiff Davies Bolton still a handful

I don't expect us to sign any of the above but they should be considered as realistic targets

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shorey is a lb

Agree0 Disagree0

Got excited when I saw turnball as would be great addition the rest are a pile of ****

Not Leeds related but I see Everton supporters are very upset indeed about their new shirt - and in particular the badge. It has lost the club motto and laurel leaves supposedly for the sake of simplicity. Plus the tower thingy is now shorter and not tower like at all.

:O

'It's like a Hobbit House!' they caterwaul. Twenty thousand of them have signed a petition about the horrid new shirt.

Nice to have nothing better to worry about. ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They won't have to worry about that
Martinez to finish above moyes next season I reckon
Then. Bye bye moyes

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes will not last till Christmas, Exodus of the Backroom staff, and he isn't a winner 11 years no pressure to win anything no titles not wins against top four away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good example of fan power though, and nice to see the powers that be actually listening to them, maybe if 20,000 of us protested, we may get the all white strip back so many fans crave, well done toffees,

Need advice fellow Leeds lads!

The new lass I started seeing, clear 10 out of 10. beautiful figure, amazing lips and fantastic in the bedroom. she has however dropped the bombshell last night she is a Manchester S****nited 'follower' so not so much a fan, but has a shirt. (that she has miraculously lost). Do I attempt a convert or do I get rid?!
MOT

AntW {Ed013's Note - Get rid!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Make it clear that she must convert to being a Leeds fan or risk being discarded. This must be done in writing so that she cannot go back on her decision.

No brainer mate! Bye, bye, bye, bye.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does she have a sister that supports the mighty whites?

Agree0 Disagree0

Attempt a convert mate all hope cannot be lost

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop being so shallow. Oh wait your a Leeds fan so can't

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like we're going to have to battle with grayson to sign Humphrey as Preston are in talks to sign the winger

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares if she can cook and clean.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buy her one of the close fitting leeds shirts tell her that white suits her better than red and white shows her figger better

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow big woopy doo she supports man united wow hey mate love her for her because you will regret it if you don't

Agree0 Disagree0

Bed her then move on it will only end in divorce
gaz1966

Agree0 Disagree0

SIMPLE. Shes only good for 1 thing. Take her back to the bedroom mate

Agree0 Disagree0

What's so shallow about Leeds fans pally? Manchester fans are shallow. this year's Bradford fans are shallow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Norway's most popular cartoon "Pondus" contains a beautiful couple where he's a mighty white and his girlfriend supports the ones who's name should not be spoken! Real trouble starts when children arrive, but this lad has learned to cope! Marry her, mate! If your life turns out half as interresting as this couple, you will not be short of entertainment!

Agree0 Disagree0

1 thing to say on this matter DONKEY PUNCH. Mot

Agree0 Disagree0

I've seen lasses at Leeds united and there's not many pretty ones so i'd stick with what you got {Ed013's Note - I have seen plenty of nice one's at Leeds as well}

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop being pathetic and keep hold of her

Don't see why people are saying bramble and kilgallon are bad signings? Not worse then what we have got surely?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For me titus bramble is the worst defender to have ever played in the prem as for kilgallon would take him all day long

Agree0 Disagree0

Titus could have his own gaffs dvd.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can only assume the original poster has never seen the one man circus that is Titus Bramble in action?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Id say Wes Brown is worse than Bramble

This is just for fun but don't you think it was lot more fun watching football in the late 70's early to mid eighties, I take my kids now and when I was their age I would have gone with my mates I think it were a pound to get in kop you had to be there when the gates opened, the atmosphere in the ground was better, no political correctness, no stewards telling you to sit down, you could even through toilet rolls without getting nicked for throwing a dangerous missile, two sets of fans supporting their teams, players with personalities, proper tackles. Its not just football went to Test Match on Saturday and I remember when the Western Terrace was buzzing. So my question is to you lot were the old days better or is it better now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I remember getting the Beeline bus from Billingham to Leeds market for a couple of quid return and having to run like F*** to catch it back. Think it was about £1. 50 to get in the kop, after we'd sneaked into the Supporters Club bar to sneak a few pints at age 14! The kop was always packed, we used to stand on the Left Side at the back, fantastic days and great memories. Was there when we got beat against Man City in the FA Cup and the fans tried to get the game abandoned, I was bricking it and got a slap off me father just for being there, when I got home!
Hope and prey that we can get back some good times and get ER rocking once more. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Technically better, fitter and faster but boy you got to miss hunter and charlton tackling. They would get so many bans now, they would hardly play. Bunch of sissy pusses these days.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with second reply, withthe exception of fitter, I personally don't think players today are fit. You can see the players after 15 minutes of play on a freezing cold January night, with beads of sweat pouring down there faces, that wouldn't happen if they were fit. Torres recently chased a ball (believe it or not) from the halfway line to near the dead ball line, the keeper hoofed it clear, Torres then bent over with hands on knees gasping for breath, that wouldn't happen if they were fit.

Football is all about money . I can remember us getting regular crowds of 13,000 in the old 2nd division in the late 80s but the fans came flowing back when we had a team we could be proud of. I hope its the same again and the bates era hasn't totally killed peoples idea of what football is about and they can find it in their hearts and pockets to come back

Agree0 Disagree0

We also used to get beeline from guisboroughto leeds market but then we joined the redcar branch of leeds suppporters some excellent days out and a few pints of skol pie and pies in club

Ed, you say you don't understand what I'm talking about, when the word SC*M is erased from my posts? {Ed013's Note - There is more than 1 Editor on the site, and we are told not to allow it on. I sometimes let it slip when some of the letters are missing}

What a stupid posting? just go back and play on Championship Manager before its bed time.
Football is more than just about spending money at this level, its about putting a solid team together that can win when playing bad and are confident enough to go out and dominate, especially at home and not be intimidated by the opposition ever. Just like the Dons young team all those years ago, they never cost much money.

Rumours everywhere suggest NOTHING is happening at Elland Road, that's right naff all, if we're lucky we'll get some players who couldn't make it in the first team of their old club. Apart from that we are probaly in for another season of agony.

Hi first time poster.

Silly season is upon us and once again the feeling that the wool is being pulled over our eyes is uppermost in my mind!

Once again we are being linked with either 'freebies' or players that, unless there is a complete change of strategy by the Board, players we can not afford.

Looking at GFH's financial reports suggests they have no money to invest, so where does it come from? I appreciate they have said they are looking at investment from outside but the only rumour that links us to any additional finance coming in is based around the sale of Sam Byram.

I do not want Sam to go, but if we can get upwards of 5m for him, with a loan back for next season then it becomes more appealing.

But, as with our experiences with Mr Bates, does that mean any revenue made from the sale of our best player will be made available to strengthen the team by our new owners?

With 5m we could add the extra striker we need, get a creative midfield player, and add extra defensive cover with a CB to compete with what we have.

GFH have to make a statement in this transfer window, not only to us fans but to McD.

. do you see that happening? I have my doubts!

I am no businessman but I do not see the logic of Bate's investment in the stadium, all well and good if we were in the Prem, but we don't own it! What is the benefit to GFH if we don't progress?

Crystal Palace have just got promoted! I rest my case!

List of targets Mcdermott should be looking at I think, considering rumours and being realistic (quite a lot are frees aswell!)

Strikers - Johnny Russell, Billy Sharp, Noel Hunt,
Max Clayton, Dani Pacheco, Simon Church

Centre Mids - Jamie O'hara, Lewis McGugan,
Chris McCann, Alan Judge

Wingers - Chris Humphreys, Gary Mackay-Stevens,
Albert Adomah, Dale Jennings, Jermaine Pennant

Defense - Matt Mills, Reece Wabara, Eric Lichaj

If I was to pick 5 key targets to get in a budget I would say:
St-Johnny Russell (Young, pacey, goalscorer)
CM-O'Hara (experienced and good box to box Mid)
LM-Gary Mackay-Stevens (Tricky and Fast winger)
RM-Dale Jennings (Young, cheap and skillfull)
CB-Reece Wabara (young, versatile back up)
