Looks like Jordan Rhodes is signing for Middlesbrough.
Come on Cellino, if we want to push on we need to be spending more than £300,000 on a goal scoring striker.

Well here's a controversial one, just having seen a post mentioning him on another site.
I liked Billy Sharp, and more importantly I think Evans would have played him. All speculation and too late now of course . But I still think he could have done a job for us. Just saying!

To be honest Speedy IMO league 1 is his level. That's what worries me about Winnall. Are we taking a chance and hoping for the best if we buy him, because we can't afford a proven championship goalscorer.
On another point I know this might be a bit simplistic but if our academy is so good, why haven't we got any really decent young strikers coming through?

Danum great post dude. We've never had a good striker come through the Academy. Don't think you can call the Aussie Jewel turned Nightmare a striker.

not sure about billy sharpe, I think he would of done well in right system with the right team. good point about stirkers never had a good one come thorugh (if anyone mentions smith I will go on a mad rant) but we have always done well in other other postion so think we have to rate the acadmey quite highly and been doing it for decades now.

29 Jan 2016 22:25:50
Well I wouldn't say Smith cause apart from being a bit 'spikey' I thought he was average at best . The Australian one was very good on his day . For a season arguably the best in the premier league . The year we finished third.

We got two good strikers in wilks and stokes coming through, mulhern not bad bug of the three wilks is showing most promise. Mcdaid not getting much playing time so needs to be out on loan. New kid from donny scored last game so there is hope.

You right about Smith Bermo. Sorry for mentioning him albeit I agree with you. Very good player but more cards than goals, not the best strike rate although many games he played in midfield. We should've kept Keane at the time and used Smith as sub.

Cellino a genius when he gets good money when we sell and a knob head when he tries to buy with a low offer anyone else would say that is the way a good business man works.

My sentiments exactly, if you buy a house you start with a cheeky offer because you never know. Start at £300K for Winnall and go up to a max of £700K, its how it works.

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Jan 2016 22:02:36
Nonsense Scoops, a cheeky offer for a £200k house is £180k not £60k.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 22:11:17
Maybe i'm just tight Notts but £180K would be my third offer not first :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 22:36:12
Scoops I largely agree with Notts on his housing market but believe a cheeky bid on a 200k house would be 160k or lower. Let's say Winnall really worth 800k not the 1.2k Barnsley reputedly want. A good starter bid would be 500k. Going as low as 300k only serves to get the backs up of the people you are negotiating with.

Let's hope Cellino ups his offer as he looks a decent player.

I would have told you to do one after the first offer ;)

Depends how much you want ( or need) the house!

30 Jan 2016 12:53:39

if yes ill go to 185k, but that my final offer.

The local school is under special measures and there is a dog botherer living next door so no way am I going above £180K.

Speedy, I think he was suggesting that MC and SE will accept any striker, and lack any drive or focus to capture the right person.

Either that, or it was a really weird profile for a dating app?

This Sam Winnall guy looks pretty good stats wise, always scores and last 2 years he has done really well playing average teams which is a good sign.

46 goals in the last 103 games ok lower level but so was likes of charlie Austin so can see why we interested, would have to be a better option than some of others we looked at who don't have that kind of scoring record and he should at least be fit and know where the goal is.

His value is a hard one so will leave that to others I guess it depends on how long contract he has and if he is now interested in pushing for a deal, Barnsley may well wait for the summer as could be better for them.

for me I would give this one a go, better than Lee Irwin type for sure.

Feeling extremely confident about tomorrow and am all over the 17/ 10 (best price) at the bookies for us to turn over the Trotters. I'd be even more confident if Emile Heskey was playing.

I've pawned Mrs Mick's cheap jewellery and took her house keeping money for this week to rustle up the £20 for my acca of Leeds, Hull and Wendies with a £195.68 return.

Get on it lads and happy Friday!

Pints down, Whites Up!

ive sent the mrs out to turn tricks for the night to raise money for my acca tomorrow, sadly it only returns 19.87 and I have backed 34 teams, mainly down to her getting 3p to put on a bet. I wouldn't mind but even at 3p she has over charged them.

Well it looks like the mad hatter has mugged Evans off by putting in a low bid for Sam Winnel at Barnsley. Does Cellino and Evans really believe a bid in the region of £300,000 for a striker that has scored would be accepted for a player that has already scored 15 goal in the league so far. I hope Evans will be chatting to the made hatter as a bid of this nature is in no way supporting our manager. nbeing mugged of again.

Let's be serious here, mc is a businessman and as such is never going in with his best offer first. Let's wait and see if it astute dealing for the best price before calling him a cheapskate.

Going 2.0 for us tommorrow, up for the cup MOT.

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Jan 2016 08:32:14
You said it Oxwhite Cellino is a businessman that likes to make money or a profit so his bidding for players will always be less than bids accepted, just remember all though he runs the club best way he feels fit he's no Leeds fan that will poor millions of his own money in like Gibson as at Boro.

Agree5 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 08:49:37
Well I guess we did give Sharp and Ajose away and their scoring at a similar rate and he's not so young so it's a gamble.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 08:56:19
It's a low bid hopefully not final bid but do we think Barnsley are resigned to loosing him and trying to start a bidding war? Why else rrelease this to the press and draw attention to it?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 08:57:59
300 000 is a bit low but would not value him at a million either. What price would you pay shag. I think 650 000 is all he's worth. League one striker will he step up? Would rather miss out than pay over the odds like we used to do.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jan 2016 11:08:34
You are missing the point everyone Connor Eashington has just gone to WPR for 2.5 million and he has scored 5 league goals fewer than Winell, do the bid from Cellino is a joke.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 12:12:47
have to agree old risdale went in with best offer then bid against himself and look how that ended for us. Prefer to be tight than bust. also I wouldn't rate him much higher than 500k any way he is league one.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jan 2016 15:17:19
Totally agree Bermondsley we definitely can't go back to the way Ridsdale run the club, I was merely pointing out Washington being sold to QPR for 2.5 million is now the bench mark Barnsley will be using when deciding how much they want for Winnell and if the reports are right and we only offered 300,000 then Barnsley would have laughed themselves silly.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 16:58:11
Qpr have cash in bank, its not a benchmark, and let's see if Cònnor sers the league alight. Just sold austin his wages will pay for connor.
