Agree1 Disagree2

Dont you just love it when clubs get money, think they know what their players think, doesnt matter if gunter is forest player, with leeds being a much bigger club anythings possible

Jheeeez some people need to get a grip and spot spitting their dummy out when posters call Warnock Colin, he has had the tag for years and it's not going to stop now, billy paynter and bates get called far worse but its ok then? doesn't mean our fans dislike him it's just a little laugh, grow up you moaners and get a sense of humour.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Its just he is not called Colin, its lame and it is not funny. So stop it. That is all.

Well it's going to stick just like Larry did with Grayson

Grayson was not called Larry but nobody had a crying fit about it then

Lets get a couple of things straight

Sheikh Mohammed is neither a king or related to Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed

Sheikh Mohammed is The Crown Prince Of Dubai, Sheikh Mansour is the brother Of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan, the President of the UAE & Emir of Abu Dhabi.
He has bailed Dubai out on numerous occassions during the recent recession thats why the tallest structure in the world is now called The Burj Khalifa when in fact it is in Dubai.
Sheikh Mo is a great bloke and loved by everyone over here but Sheikh Khalifa has all the oil, the wealth and he calls the shots!

not a rumour but as for all the take over talk i believe that any sort of investor looking to buy the club must be willing to spend money on the squad other wise what is the point in buying the club in the first place after all new players are what leeds united need most not new caterers. brett wakey white.p.s. this is my first post {Ed013's Note - Welcome}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I think LUST made it clear it's a takeover rather than investment. Either way Brett they must surely be willing to pump money into the team to try and gain promotion.
jt-lufc

Agree2 Disagree2

LUST know sfa they just trying to act like they are in a higher position of knowledge they are like you and me they sit on the outside. They are on the fence constantly trying and vying to appear in some position of control and authority. LUST are not involved in this process, they are not included, in fact they know nothing more...!

Agree5 Disagree4

29 Jun 2012 20:09:42
Although we still do not know....apart from all the speculation....who the new owners are, I think that we can be confident that they will have the clubs and the fans interests at heart. I believe it has helped having the input from LUST in the process.
As we have seen, too many other clubs have picked up new owners and the fans have been let down big time.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Whatever we think of him, Bates has proved he will not just sell to the first fly by night that turns up! as a result i am quite hopeful it will not be Venky part 2

that gary cooper from lust will not be happy until he and a couple of his clingons are getting payed by leeds for giving advice to the new board there dont speek for me and ive been going to watch leeds for 30 years kez1919

Believable8 Unbelievable6

I dont agree. Without LUST's input we would not be looking forward to a takeover.
They have represented the Leeds fans and they care for the club.

Agree5 Disagree8

I have only been going 18 years mate, but i totaly agree they dont speak for me either

Agree7 Disagree4

They only speak for themselves, they should realise that what they say on TV is not always the opinion of every supporter. Bates is now ready to sell as the time is right for him financially, for LUST to indicate that they had influenced him in doing so is laughable as he's always been self opinionated.

Agree8 Disagree3

The length of time you've been going is irrelevant - I've been going for over 42 years and LUST definitely speak for me, not that that really means anything.

What I do think matters is that a lot of interesting stuff about how important LUST's role has been will become clear very soon. I suspect the anti-LUST, pro-Bates types on here are going to be eating a lot of humble pie come the start of the season.

Agree4 Disagree3

Problem with the LUST is that they think that because they are obsessed with the financial figures, they are the biggest leeds fans in the world and are some form of 'voice of the voiceless'

Agree1 Disagree0

Not a lust member but respect to them. they have forced bates to sell up. bates has bullied leeds loyal fans for 7 yrs. in the coming yrs i think things will come out to proof this. like what is happening with the banks now and tony blair weapon of mass destrustion i think we will find power coruptes. as my gran used to say never trust anyone with a beard and she was never wrong mot

Agree1 Disagree5

LUST, does any one think bates is bothered what they say? This take over didn't happen cos of them, it happened cos bates wants it too. LUST don't speak for me, I don't mind them but just wish know they'd shut the hell up and wait and see like the rest of us.

Don't know about everyone else but I'm very optimistic about next season, though not getting to carried away with all the takeover/ investment business, I think to start with Neil will be given a reasonable amount of money to strengthen the team(but not vasts amounts spent on players as we were to put pressure on ourselves to come up trumps like Leceister last season.) stayed loyal through the relegation from the Prem/Championship and the promotion from div1, Been away to the likes of Wallsall, Mk Dons, Peterborough etc ,and last seasons home form was enough to put any hardened fan off going, so in a kind of way it would feel rewarding to the fans for Neil to be able to sign the kind of players needed for a promotion push this coming season.

Quick everyone! Rush over to the YEP now to read yet another utterly trite, boring and blindingly obvious piece of Lasher's tiny puppet mind. Ken must have a very long piece of string to make him work all the way from Monaco. Please, please can the new owners put this once mighty beast out of its misery?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

You ought to show some respect. Its players like Lorimer who put this club on the map. I've read the article and there is nothing wrong with it and having met him he is a good bloke and cares a lot about this club, he certainly doesn't deserve nomarks like you having a go.

Agree4 Disagree4

Totally agree - show some respect for your elders and Leeds greats Like Peter Lorimer especially - the article is ok - and so is Peter - you aren fit to lace his boots or his pint with comments like that

Agree3 Disagree2

I grew up watching Lorimer, he's one of my childhood heroes and I still treasure his autograph on my Leeds United Book of Football no 3, but what he did 40 years ago is in the past. What he's done recently is to devalue his status as a club legend by acting as Bates's mouthpiece. He's become an embarrassment.

Agree5 Disagree4

If you cannot see that Lasher has become the squawking corporate parrot of Bates then you deserve what you get and read. The man is a cardboard cut out of the player I worshipped throughout his career. Do you really believe he has the intelligence to muster up the pap that Kens lackey's at the YEP publish then you are bigger fools than even KB rates as "morons". He is paid to front the rubbish that Bates wants us to swallow and shame on you if you want to accept it. Thank God for the dissenters in the ranks that are prepared to shout out that the bullsh*t has to stop, and welcome in the new owners with the passion that has kept me hooked for 42 years! Leeds, Leeds, Leeds!!

Agree2 Disagree3

So now we are questioning Lorimers intellect too? You are criticizing what he writes then claim he isn't writing them at all! You are happy to forget that he played over 500 games for the club and scored 168 goals and all because he does what he has to do to pay the bills. I am ashamed to have you as a fellow fan.

Agree2 Disagree2

Lorimer was a great player, he did a lot for the club, but its time for him to take a step back. Hes maybe not bates puppet, but he stick so close to him its untrue and I feel embarrased for him. He needs to take a backward step, stay out of the lime light, and retain the amiration the fans have for him.

Let's pray this takeover goes through next week, I hope we sign Danny Guthrie he's a free and we will be able to match his wage demands, with this snods may see our intent for next season and sign on the dotted line. Ross for all I care can go, he's inconsistent. We should replace him with a pacey striker like beckford who loves us or theo Robinson from derby? Young with plenty of potential. Let me know what you think guys

I think a key factor in players re-signing could also be the fact that the Odds for leeds have been slashed dramtically. i think Snods will be seriously considering any future moves very carefully.

Not posted on here for a week or to but have been keep a close eye on developments at leeds. To be honest I don't really care if we get taken over or invested in, the three players that Warnock has already signed on freebies are better then the majority of player grayson sign the whole time he was at the club. I therefore have complete trust in Warnock and know he'll do a decent job for us fan regardless of money.

If a deals is done either to purchase the club or invest in some way, I really hope its not a Man City/Chelsea type setup. Although of course I do want Leeds United to be sucessfull, I don't want us to become another club full of overpaid, selfish, lazy, greedy players. I like the fact we are a club who like our players to play for the badge and not money, I wouldn't want this to change.

Dan LUFC

p.s. Congratulations on your new arrival ed. Another future leeds united star is born. {Ed013's Note - Cheers pal, second boy that I hope will wear the white strip}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

So when Ridsdale was in Charge and we were in Champions League semi final you weren't shouting for the players who pulled on the Leeds jersey?

Agree0 Disagree0

It all comes down to whos available for free at the time and on the right sort of wages that the club were willing to pay.
you cant just blame grayson for these signings . whos to say the players we have signed so far this summer are not gonna flop . if you look at some of the the players grayson brought in they looked good additions at the time of signing them but couldn't perform infront of a big crowed at Elland road .just hope warnocks signings can

makes me laugh some people on here not so long ago neil warnock was the best news we had for sometime when he decided to join now we apparently are to become the next man city with so called big investment !! and some now say warnock may not be good enough for us with all the money we gonna have ! lol get ur feet back on the ground we aint been bought yet we aint done nothing yet !! chill your skin !! nickybee

Believable4 Unbelievable1

"chill your skin"!?

Your not wrong I for one am more than happy with Warnock as for who may or may not have come in for us we will have to wait and see anyone is beter than what we have had for the last 7y

Tog

Agree2 Disagree0

I never wanted warnock in the first place . i don't really rate him so much but the thing that does my head in is how much he moans .

Agree1 Disagree3

Warnock has proved he gets the job done.
He will bring in the players with the right attitude and ability....something we have not had in a while.

Agree2 Disagree1

To the guy who didn't want warnock. You are entitled to your view. However you will probably be a guy who wants to see great players wearing the shirt. Who wants to see this club back in the big time. So to get there you have a good chance with a manager who has got a great record on promotions and will do everything in his power ti get his record breaking promotion. He deserves the support of every fan of this club. Dannylufc

Agree1 Disagree0

I didn't have a problem when Warnock when he was appointed but if we get serious investment I'd question whether he's the man to take us beyond next year. His promotion record is good but he's got a good few relegations under his belt too and hasn't been great at the highest level. He also doesn't have good form with top players.

I don't know about everyone else but for me just being taken over is a dream come true, if this potential investor is a billionaire then so be it but I am happy enough after countless rumours for us to at least be rid of KB :) M.O.T SussexLeeds

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Not a dream, almost reality.starts me thinking.we need a billy bremner to be the engine of our team.howson missed his chance, theres a chance now for someone to make his mark. The defence is starting to take shape, but we need the football brain, the vision ,the passion, the love of the team, the one that can distribute the ball, hold it,pass it .come on mr warnock, give us what we need.sounds like youll have the backing now. noose58

Not much of a rumour Ed, so please bear with me, but I've got something I feel strongly about and wanted to share.

Looking on Twitter, I'm reading all sorts of arrogance and nonsense about how rich we are, the players we're going to sign, how promotion is now nailed on, and even talking about a change of manager.

I think our fans need to take a serious step back and remember that the club still belongs to one Kenneth William Bates, and until we all know otherwise, let's not get ahead of ourselves. We could all look very, very silly if we don't get the outcome that we all want.

So please guys, try your best to keep it real, if LUST and the YEP/BBC are to be believed, the wait is nearly over. Let's not curse it at the last minute - deals further down the line than ours have fallen through. {Ed013's Note - I can understand fans being excited, but a little bit too early to flaunt it around I think}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Very true my friend deal not nailed yet

Agree2 Disagree0

Could not have saifd it better myself hombre

Agree1 Disagree0

Completely agree, I personally won't be overly confident until the takeover is announced, and possibly if we sign a player requiring a decent sum of money which will signal the intent of the club and the financial backing they have.

Agree1 Disagree0

At last finally some one speaks total sense, I just really hope it all goes through for everyone's sake, Other clubs getting taken over left right and centre lately, now even Forest getting Middle East Money [Fawasi] or what ever he is called. But back to the top post your bang on pal...MOT......
MJB66

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said original, poster. I can understand the excitement but lets cool our heels and see exactly what is happening. All the talk of premier league and expensive players is nice but premature. We have got to get out of the championship first and I firmly believe that we have a chance with NW if he can bring in the players he wants.

It's great to dream of future success but we need to keep our feet on the ground. MOT Ron

Making a lot of assumptions there. I don't think you can say 'most probably'. It would be great, but sounds like what you (and most Leeds fans) would like to be true rather than what is likely the reality. We just don't know. Lets hope it an Oil Sheikh or an Abramovic, not a Venkys!

Believable7 Unbelievable1

29 Jun 2012 01:34:05
According to the OS no further statement on the takeover/investment was to be made in the near future, yet many posters are mentioning 1 or 3 July as possible dates for an announcement.

I will be very surprised (pleasantly so) if any statement is made until nearer the start of the season. I think NW has been told which of his targets he can bring in for now, if they involve a transfer fee expect players to leave first.

Dont think there will be a big transfer kitty straight away but come January things might be different. I just hope Nw will be able to get the nucleus of his side together ASAP.

Hope I'm proved wrong and that statement is made sooner rather than later and that reasonable funds are available but I can't see it.

Just hoppe new investors are in it for the long haul and really care about the club couldn't bear to see the club hit the straps again. MOT Ron
(What are your thoughts Ed?) {Ed045's Note - I think that this process can be as long as a piece of string, and according to sports lawyers, a initial fee and agreement has been put in place, I think it will be sorted out rather soon but players will be coming in closer to the beginning of the season rather than now if coming with a price. Just a thought though.

It wont be mentioned cos the owners will appoint their own pr team

I don't think people realise what we have in clayton(23) mccormack(25) and white(20). As you can see they are all young. White has pace that you rarely ever see and the defensive side he could learn off the experienced drury. Clayton carried our non existent midfield last season and I don't think I have ever seem a midfielder with a passing range like his at leeds in years. McCormack got 4th top scorer in the league in a poor team with only Clayton and Snoddy for service, he has a brlliant touch, work rate, he can finish and is very skillful and agile. I don't think there is anyone who could replace these players as we would be going in to easily 10 million plus expense to do so. MOT

JackTheWhite

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Claytons average and only shone when Howson did most of the defensive work for him, if u noticed after Howson left he vanished in most games

Agree6 Disagree2

I think most people agree with you mate, but it s not as simple as that.
These 4 players may want to leave or may think that they deserve better money elsewhere. The boss works with the players every day of the week so we ve got to trust him with these decisions as we don t know what s going on behind the scenes.
Personally I d not be too worried if we lost McCormack. He had a good season but think he d struggled to repeat it, so we should sell if he wants to go and we get a decent offer. The other 3, I think are or could be top class for us for a number of years. I d be really happy if they decided to stay but not if they ll only do so for stupid wages.

Agree5 Disagree1

Originalposter, You can't put clayton down because he didn't influence the game as much after howson left because it's not his style of play to be defensive, he need someone to do the dirty work whilst he gets forward and pulls the strings, I do genuinely believ McCormack would score even more goals this season as he'll have better service and probably a better partner upfront to work with. We shoyld offer Clayton, Snoddy, McCormack and Wgite what they ask for because we still wouldn't be paying out the wages that leicester and others are paying.

Agree1 Disagree1

Now, this time I disagree. If you go down the route of paying whatever players ask for, then this is the road to financial ruin. Don t want to go there again, not even for a couple of good years, the 10 years of struggling afterwards are not worth it.
We should pay well, but fair. If a player thinks they can earn more elsewhere, then as far, good luck son.
To be honest, at Championship level, there s plenty of players who can do a great job probably cheaper. It s time that some of these footballers had a reality check. 15k a week on a 2 year contract is more than 1.5 million in wages.... Times are hard.
Personally, I d rather have players with a bit of fire in their bellies, rather than some prima dona s who are only interested in looking good so they can get a more lucrative contract elsewhere. ( sorry, but I think McCormack and possibly Clayton fit into this category).... White, I m hopeful will see that another couple of years with us would be good for him, rather than warming a bench somewhere.... Snoddy is a legend in my book. If he decides to go, he s still got more loyalty in his left boot than the vast majority. Although I also doff my cap to Tom lees.... Thats the spirit.
Jonny H

Agree5 Disagree0

A lot of interesting comments. Agree that players should be paid what we can afford closest to what they are worth, not what they want.
McCormack was one of the best players last year. He ran back to get the ball, wasn't lazy, has great ball control and great s**t. Snoddy can run and dribble and cross well, wouldn't want to lose him. White has good speed, ok dribbler, ok crosser, ok tackler. Is young so could improve his final touch. Clayton I don't rate as much. He is probably the better of what we had in the centre, but I was glad warnock has recognised CM is the positions we need to improve most. Howson was not that great, going missing a lot. Players did not play as well after he left because they gave up. We didn't have better than howson in CM but that does not make him good. I think mcCormack could play just off the front two better than howson and tackle more.

When we get taken over by Billionaires from the Middle East, and are awash with cash, will the want away (rats and sinking ships) players who wanted to "PLAY AT A HIGHER LEVEL" suddenly decide that they never really wanted to leave and are happy to play in the lower league for the Mighty Leeds United and hang around to line their pockets ?
Well for me these 'SUPER STARS OF THE FUTURE ' can F**K OFF and be greedy for 'SUCCESS' at a less wealthy club than ours and we can get on and sign some player who don't hide the fact they are GREEDY B******S AND WANT £150K A WEEK. You know who these leeches are.
Hope Lads like Tom Lees get their reward for signing long before the take-over gossip true loyalty with feeling for club and the best fans in the world.
