Missed the game at weekend but watched it today. Young kid Clarke does look the business I thought. I realize he came on when forest were on the back foot and maybe tiring but he looked so positive and got some great balls in and almost scored a wonder strike. It was great to see but can the lads who watch the kids play regularly give their input on whether he can/ should start?

I still think share the shift with Someone else and gradually increase his time on the pitch . He’s 17 and I think he’s still developing his physique and fitness . I still prefer having him to come on later, when as you say the defenders are tiring. He has no fear, will try to go past people, make killer passes and score. He will make some errors and sometimes lose the ball in dangerous positions because it’s part of the no fear. It would be nice to have Edmundson on the bench as well, because they both offer something different, like Edmundsons scrappy toe poke goal today, and they are used to playing together.

Think Clarke should start and bring Alioski on later, he will have more influence on the game and it might shake Alioski up a bit. Ed worth minutes on pitch at some point, rate him above Roberts. He only had one leg to stand on when he did that scrappy toe poke. Shows his determination.

I think Clarke deserves a start too, and you’re right bige, Alioski could do with feeling his place is under threat to make him step up another gear again.

As you said Brighty trust Bielsa, he will know best how to look after Clarke.

I like to see Clarke coming on after the hour mark when we've run the opposition ragged :)

Is it me or does Saiz play too deep. He keeps picking the ball up way to often in his own half instead of playing off the striker. I realize he's good at running from deep positions but if he pushed forward a bit he could create lots more havoc even though he'd see less of the ball.

Couldn’t agree more, been saying the same for the last 6 games, last season he got in the box a lot more and a lot of times was out furthest man fwd, must be how he’s been told to play this season?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2018 21:46:11
I have a feeling that Mr Saiz might find himself out of the matchday squad altogether over the next few weeks. He was overshadowed by the boy Clarke when they both came on at the same time on Saturday.

Al, sammy just needs a goal. highly strung, emotional player and things are not falling for him, can see is frustration. goals are everything to a player like this but on his day he is superb, as we know.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Oct 2018 11:48:16
Agree with you Gilesey, won’t be out of the match day squad unless injured. He always brings something . Even during his poorer performances, he has still contributed to goals and some of his moves just mm away from coming off. Clarke and him are different types of players and actually would complement each other well. I’d like to see Saiz on form with Clarke and Hernadez, that would be exciting. Honestly think Saiz is trying to hard and fretting.

If we strengthen the squad with a couple of quality additions in January, winger who can beat a man and chip in with a few goals and a proper number 9 and we will have as good a chance as anyone.

I truly believe we are the best side with our key players on the pitch. So god willing our key players stay fit and we will win the league. Unfortunately I’m not too sure I believe in the almighty.

I am placing a lot of faith in Izzy Brown. Supposed to be ten, but we will see. We could do with a good old fashioned poacher to finish off up front. To many chances squandered.

29 Oct 2018 22:38:59
For me, it’s still all open. At the moment both two automatic slots seem to be up for grabs. But too many variables, will brown and Bamford be like having two new excellent players, could we pick up two more good fits in January, are we going to get even more injuries? Ask me again on Jan first!

I’m undecided. Think it’s too close.
Years of disappointment makes me say no not this year.
But on our day we can match best in league.
I haven’t seen anything special yet. Brentford the best and look where they are now.
Derby are my pic.

30 Oct 2018 09:28:56
Definitely a big chance but needs to add 2-3 players in
Jan and hope the return of Bamford and Izzy come good.
We need a winger that can go past a player and cross a ball and a top forward.

Under 23 s 2-1 win goals from Edmonson and Harrison. Dominated the game and possession again but not deadly with the finishing. Edmundson, was injured but just managed to poke the ball home before going off. Showed the type of goal that he can bring to the team.

I think that the number of first teamers actually disrupts the flow of the team a bit .

Harrison worked hard and showed some good runs. Robbie Hotts another good game and made the second goal. Nicely showed some nice touches. Shaunessy better game, back in central defense and looked solid. Douglas played around 60mins, involved in the game a lot. Playing at Thorpe Arch you get to hear how vocal he is. Really acting like a captain at the back offereing instruction and congratulations all the time, you can see why we miss him.

Clarke had a quiet half. Blackman solid and commanded the back well apart from one flap.

Just realised we have 17 players out on loan, a full squad near enough. Think a couple of them could do with coming back in Jan with all the injuries we are having. Paudi not getting any game time and Denton got his first game over weekend. Machuca and Rey first starts as well. Anita doing ok as is Kitching and Coyle. Cibicki starting a lot but not scoring, Ekuban, Sacko, Bhouy used as subs mainly. Grot progressing according to his club. Wonder how many will make it back to ER. I am guessing 4 at most.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Oct 2018 12:57:59
Don’t really want any of them back at the moment. If we add to squad in January i'm hoping it would be with quality good enough to be in starting 11.

29 Oct 2018 17:37:19
Certainly puts a question mark over the loan system. If its purely to get them off the books then fine but if its to get them game time then something ain't right?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2018 19:03:46
My thoughts exactly leodis. Only about 4 getting regular game time so what's the point other than getting them off the books. Reckon most of them will be gone or loaned out again.

Under 23s today 1pm Thorpe arch vs Hull. Douglas will hopefully get an injury free run out. Possibly Baker, not had much match play recently and a chance for Harrison? It does disrupt the under 23s a little and means there has to be 2/ 3 early subs to give them 45 mins. In the last two games, without much first team presence, they have hammered teams. Another chance for Edmundson to show that he offers something a little different. Lovely sunny crisp winters day here.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Oct 2018 12:18:24
Wow, strong team, Douglas, Shaunessy, Baker, Clarke, Roberts, Edmundson! Pressure on for them to match the last two games and only three subs, so some in for a long game!

I think the issue in the Forest game, and has been an issue for quite a few seasons.

When the game gets stretched as it did at 1-1, we don't have the pace to make effective transitions with the ball. Unless we got it to Clarke quickly on Saturday you just felt Forest would get everyone back and this would lead to side-wards possession again.

Just my opinion on what might be the reason for the draws not becoming wins right now.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Oct 2018 09:43:59
I tend to agree here . We do lack a little pace, Look at the Blackburn game, there player Armstrong down the left completely ripped us when he got the ball . They transitioned from defence to attack quickly and we don’t have that .

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2018 13:47:25
We can’t defend from corners!
4 points lost against Blackburn and forest because of that.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2018 15:12:14
To be honest - in this league. I reckon maybe 12+ teams train on corners the majority of the week leading up to games. For the poor quality teams, set pieces are the way to points. How many goals have we conceded from open play this season? 6, which is mightily impressive! And one of them was a goal of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Oct 2018 17:42:51
You do not necessarily have to rely on pace with the ball for a quick transition. It can also be achieved by crisp accurate passing of the ball (always) forward. All too often I have seen teams throw away their advantage by moving forward only to lose momentum by stopping and passing backwards.
