i really don't get some of us leeds fans we need to get real here we are in dire straights and its not because of cellino its because of who owns the club now.
we can't even purchase a player and here comes along an italian with billions and your all getting sketchie I mean come on I bet half of us if we were to win the euro millions still wouldn't buy our club and now we at present have a chance to have some money for a change and I mean a lot of money this guy is loaded and bet he will want his club to shine.
yes QPR and west ham and palace he failed to purchase but if he was to take us over he would want to get one over on these clubs to show what they would of missed out on I know that's what I would want to do anyway for crying out load we were over the moon because we spent a massive ONE MILLION on a player and we all gets excited? that can't be good folks if this guy wants to take us forward them let him have the reigns better than them broke ass arabs I mean have you ever heard the likes of it could only happen to leeds anyway i'm all for a new regime! bring on cellino! Cant say I disagree with what you say. The blokes probably an egotist and power hungry. Those two traits will only be satisfied if Leeds are successful. And with our current financial situation his accounting skills could be very handy.

Evening everyone. Firstly I would like to say well done to the lads for yesterday! A fantastic result and I can't remember the last time we had such a positive result in the league.
Secondly. On Thursday I posted that I thought it would be really positive if the club was bought by Mr Cellino. The replies I got were nothing short of boarder line abusive. I find it quite interesting that now all this has come to light regarding the funding/finances of GFH and the total cock up with BMD, that there are so many posts now saying that it would good if he purchased us. How fickle some fans can be! Surely it shouldn't matter who owns us we should be UNITED towards a common cause. Mr Cellino represents the best opportunity for success in our recent history. We should welcome him with open arms and what his decisions are, go with it. The worst thing we can do is protest against him already. If he gets sick of us and backs out then surely that would be disaster for the club! I just hope that the Fit and Proper persons test does not scupper our plans! MOT forever.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am also glad and have been glad for a long time that Cellino is taking over the club. It is very clear that this guy means business, he has already forked out 22 million on the club and turned down 6 million for mccormack. GFH capital are the complete opposite to Cellino and his company. They clearly did not mean business right from the start with the becchio Saga and that continued with not backing warnock and then loosely backing brian. David haigh has proved he is useless, he is a fake and is just a showman. Even down to his twitter followers he fakes that. His consortium have no money so it is lucky for us that was exposed and that is the same with Farnan. Money talks, GFH took months to gather the money to buy leeds in the first place, sports capital can't even do that, Farnan knows he can't compete with Cellino so he just moans along with flowers where as it takes days for Cellino to buy the club.
That is what we want

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ben, Maybe those agreeing with your views are different fans to the ones giving you a hard time for being in favour of the idea.
I, like you, don't think it would be as terrible as a lot of people think if he bought us and passed the FA fit test. However I feel messers Harvey and co at the FA will suddenly be overcome with ethical concerns for the state of English football and block the move.
Nothing to do with the fact that it is LUFC and for the first time in ages looking like we might have a backer who has the financial clout to genuinely compete in this league.
Those at Lancaster Gate derive no small pleasure keeping Leeds down. Remember also the Shaun Harvey is a Bates biatch so don't be surprised if/when the FA try and block the deal.

My only hope is that Cellino has some faith with BMc and gives him an opportunity to complete what he has started. Lots have used the example of bacon face's first season at munure, they were dire but the directors had faith in him and were repaid in abundance.

Remember Señor C, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Agree0 Disagree0

LUST trying to scupper Cellino deal, what the hells the alternative, another consortium who haven't got a pot to piss in, or administration, FFS give the bloke a chance, the chance of getting snow white with millions of pounds to spend ain't going to happen, he could just be the best thing that's happened to Leeds in a long long time, with or without McDermott.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with you mate. Welcome yo leeds united mr cellenco

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no problems with Cellino, a bent eccentric with a lot of money. They are a few in the English leagues now so what's the issue.

The problem I have is, 36 managers in 20 years.
the 2 times he has been done for fraud (So I don't know what risks this will have to our club).
Admitting that he needed a coach and not a manager, which probably led to tyhe sacking in the first place.
Pushing his mate to sit on the bench against Leicester.
And now bending the truth about BMD and GFH and co to ensure he stays on side with the fans and sponsers.

IMO We need good leadership with a plan for the future, I want us back in the Prem and fighting in Europe not a single season where we will buy a bunch of mercenaries who will jump ship if we don't stay up. If this guy gets in we will have to accept the follwoing

He will sack BMD at the first oppurtunity he gets, maybe after a run of 3 losses or a derby loss Or even if we don't get in the prem.

We will have an influx of foreign players.

He will say what ever he wants to ensure he is on side with who ever he needs to be.

And he will probaby build a helicopter pad so he can get off the grounds if he needs.

But essentially I want GFH, Haigh, Noodles and co out. We all know GFH are skint, naive and spineless. We know that Haigh is also naive and was looking to buy the club through finacing and loans. And as soon as these guys are outta here the better.

Whether its Cellino or the other lot, I want a manager to get a solid chance at the club. And I want us up where we belong.

Cant understand why some are criticising BMD on here. The man is a class act, is passionate about Leeds and has had no backing from GFH. We saw yesterday what his team is capable of, he believes in them and so should we. Stop slating a decent, honourable bloke who knows what he is doing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

some say we should welcome cellino with open arms, I think they can see pound signs, which would be great but this guy seems to be more of a dictator then owner, bates was the same way, [if we don't like they way they run the club then too bad]the way cellino has started even before he owns the club worries me, the manager MUST be in control of the playing side of the club, owners who get involved with signing players without the agreement of the manager only cause disharmony in the club, we don't want a yes men as our manager, no way.nor a dictator, besides he may have plenty of cash but it doesn't mean he is going to splash it on us.but having said all that it's out of our hands, I just worry for the future of our great club, we get promised the earth and always find out that we were shafted all the way along, ie bates, gfh, so whoever that's us over I hope that we get someone who will value the club and most of all the fans.mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

[if we don't like they way they run the club then too bad]. this the same at any club or business someone has to call the shots. as it stands Bmc has to work with the players he has, so why would it be any different if Cellino buys the players he wants, Bmc would still have to work with these players!

Agree0 Disagree0

But the manager should decide not the owner, it underminds the manager, so the players have no resect for him as they know he's not calling the shots

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't he want a head Coach, not a manager?that why he would not have to worry about buying players

Agree0 Disagree0

No but he would bring in players that the manager doesn't want

cellinio wanted west ham in 2010 for 63 mill . give him a chance he's definatly loaded

Believable0 Unbelievable0

But he's a convicted felon. The fact he may be loaded has led a few on here to have selective memory problems. A lot on here repeatedly cried their eyes out about Norman Bates being a criminal. They had no proof of any wrong doing but called him a crook a fraudster none the less.
This person Cellino is a convicted criminal and the deluded amongst us think because he's got a lot of dough he may throw a few scraps off his burgeoning table to the manager who ever that is of our great club. Are you mad? he's likely to come and give in one hand and take twice as much back with the other. what's wrong with some of you? this guy Cellino will shaft our club and supporters.
I take it the ones shouting the loudest about letting him have the levers of our club, are the ones that
wanted Norman Bates out?

Agree0 Disagree0

How many football owners are squeaky clean?

Agree0 Disagree0

At the moment sounds like we have to sell otherwise its the end.i would tather go to him than go out of buisness!at the end of the day if he pays the money it's his.he can do what he likes.if you have 25million to buy us with you could do the same.football is a buisness and successful buisness men don't try and please people.if he buys us he won't want to loose, so he will always try to win!

Agree0 Disagree0

And you know all this how exactly? So if he invests stacks of cash and gets us promoted you won't be happy? i'd rather have a multi millionaire than a English get together of so called business men with no money, we need cash and loads of it and if he is a total Crook I don't care .

Agree0 Disagree0

To Jedburgh White do you believe that every football club owner or is squeaky clean, everyone who has the money to buy a football club has used any under hand trick they can to earn or maintain there wealth, tax avoidance is rife in our society or have you not realised? if you want snow white to buy Leeds utd then you are waiting for a fairy tale.

first time post, if u have a look at our squad on the os, there are atleast 12 players we don't need in our squad, we actually don't need to spend much, we just need a to get rid of a whole bunch of them which will safe us a whole load of wage fees, just seeing the squad we don't need ashdown, drury, wooton, zaliukas, brown, green, norris, pugh, tonge, diouf, white, hunt and varney, absolutely rididculous, we have a great youth system, need this bunch to first ge out, I really do hope bmd gets back, and cellino mite just be our guy, we do have the money, get this bunch out and a max of 10 mil spent under bmd will get us promotion next season,

Cellino best man to own leeds might be abit mad but ready to throw money at leeds no other group got any proper money! Football today u need billions not just good intentions and please can some boot david haigh out the club sick off hearing about him nothing but a yes man!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think David Haigh was responsible for sorting things out after Friday's chaos, and getting McDermott back.lot of lies from Cellino!

Agree0 Disagree0

Football now is all about money now without a rich owner we will never get back to winning titles etc, so we either get behind the takeover or enjoy lge 1 again

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree.Let Cellino get on with it.I don't care who is the manager aslong as we spend money on quality players. Some people don't realise that the other options are a waste of time. All this rubbish about BMD is unbelievable. He is dispensable and would be no good if we went into the premiership. We've waited over 10 years for topflight football and I don't want to wait another 10 years .

Agree0 Disagree0

David Haighs consortium including our saviour flowers tried to devalue the purchase price of the club due to some unknown situation in the running of the club.
Bit odd considering he"s managering director of the said company selling!

Agree0 Disagree0

Daniel55 to me it seems quite clear that Flowers/Haigh and co did not have the funds to pay the agreed price so found some lame excuse to lower there offer, Haigh new the ins and outs of the clubs finances as he was there when Leeds.

evening eds and everyone else here, hopefully someone can shed some light on the financial situation: last I herd (this would have been before ghf took over) we were doing ok and making a profit?(im sure something like 900k was reported?) for that year.
how have we managed to amass debts of 10odd million now :s I understand that ghf had funded the Warnock overhaul as well as a few this season but surely they all can't have cost that much? especially given the higher attendances and cup games etc.
seem like an awful lot i'd like to know how much Warnock and bmcd are/were earning

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - I agree mate, it baffles me, but GFH are losing 600k a month}

Hi Ed do you expect this takeover to happen this week

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - If I was a betting man I would say yes, however I think there will be a lot of repercussions from rival parties once it goes ahead. Safe to say though that Cellino has enough money to deal with them!}

What I do know is that any private Equity/Investment bank require interest on their investment on an on going basis as well as the log term ain of realising a profit. What we do not know is how much GFH take from Leeds on a monthly basis to pay the interest on their investment? Might explain some of the losses?

Agree0 Disagree0

So if the Cellino deal fails, we could be heading for administration soon. That's why the other groups are offering peanuts for the club.Yet Cellino has the cash and people don't want him?

I do find it interesting that people are saying that Ross will be off at the end of the season now the Italians are in charge.
He has been our best player this year and likely to be the Championship top scorer therefore unless we start making progress I would place money that he would go if a good Prem club came in for him anyway
The days of the Steve Bull's of this world staying at a club come what may are gone and Ross wold have a commitment to his family
The best chance we have to keep hold of RM is if the club has some ambition and that needs money

I want to gauge a response from our fans. We all know Brian McD is a nice bloke. Like Leeds managers before him he hasn't had backing from the board, although probably more than the previous two. In nine months he has brought in 5 players. We hadn't won a game since mid December prior to yesterday. I just can't compute why the majority of our fans were kicking off about his dismissal. Managers have been given the boot for less McCallister, Grayson to name two. What I can't comprehend is people on this site who state he is the best manager we have had for a long time? How do they come to that conclusion? Then there were the Cellinio out banners and get the I-Ti out of our club. Why? What if this geezer comes in with a pot full of money. Sport Capitol were promising the takeover would be complete for weeks, then started arguing over money. This guy has come in, in a week and bought 75% so if that isn't a statement of intent I don't know what is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree - the man has intent - and i'd also add I don't agree with racism - which includes terms like IT I and W*P and greasy Italian etc - some of the best footballers and sides in the world have been Italian - don't forget that. I welcome players from Europe - sick of this little england mentality - and also the Eire links week in week out

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you mate re Cellino. Bring him on! Maybe if Cellino had just given Brian a chance to prove himself with some financial backing first then the fans wouldn't have kicked off so much. MOT PA

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't age more, I think Brian is a great guy but and i'd love him involved and the club at some capacity just not the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're not taking all the circumstances into account. The bad results started at the time the takeover should have happened. UP until that point we were looking like serious promotion contenders. It's clear that something behind the scenes was having a very bad effect on the manager and the players. They may be professionals but they are people too and none of us can escape our circumstances.

In respect of the signings, they look pretty good to me all things considered. Sometimes even the very best players take time to adapt and bed in. The people slating Kebe on here after Tuesday's dismal performance have now gone pretty quiet now after a much improved performance yesterday, but I'd say it's still too early for us to judge him. He may be awful next week.

As for player signings generally, one of the things that shocked McDermott when he arrived was his discovery that we had no scouting network. Scouts are the lifeblood of any pro side and that bit of Bates/Warnock stupidity might take years to recover from. It's a myth that managers choose players by themselves. Signings come about through a complex process of filtering starting with scouts and involving a team of professionals at the club. The manager is only one member of that team. Real football is not like the computer sims that most people on here seem to think makes them experts.

This is why clubs who change their managers too early rarely succeed. How many people wanted Fergie out at Man U before his first trophy? A very big percentage is the answer. If they'd had their way they would never have achieved what they did. Similarly, there were people at Leicester wanting Pearson out before he'd had time to change things. They look pretty stupid now.

McDermott is a proven manager at this level who was doing well prior to all this cr@p and we will struggle to get a better manager in our current situation. People wanting Grayson sacked and celebrating Warnock's arrival got their comeuppance and I suspect that those calling for McDermott's head at this stage might find themselves in the same position in 18 months if they get their way.

What we need is a period of stability, sustained but affordable investment and patience. Fans who understand the complexity of the process and are prepared to accept that, even with big money, it might take a couple of years to get promoted would also be a great help, but judging by some of the stuff spouted on here I won't hold my breath.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post sir . everything i've been thinking but too lazy ta send in . in hindsight I still think we should have backed Grayson ;but for the cup win at ot I will always be grateful . I think Bmac is a top fella but if Cellino takes over his position is untenable because its only a matter of time?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think 'l IT I' or however you want to spell it is being racist. It's just an abbreviation of Italian isn't it? I think the PC brigade have gone a bit OTT in recent years and it's quick to play the race card when it's not even intended. I am half Irish and proud of it. I don't give a stuff if I get called a 'plastic paddy' and my old man doesn't give a stuff about Irish jokes etc. it's usually all in good humour. Too many uptight people these days reading too much into every single comment and unfortunately have very little (or no) intellignece to form a proper opinion. Unfortunately some of those people post on this site.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was referring to a term read on here that used 'greasy Italians' - I'm part Italian and I don't like that sort of banter Mad Mick - it's negative and insulting . bit like someone saying thick Irish Mick;

Agree0 Disagree0

God post. Brian has not had enough time, or backing. But what he excells at is man management. The players love him. He is slowly forging a side within his means, it takes time. He has inherited a squad that's not full of talent, but he is filtering it and bringing in the youth, which is our future. There is no quick fix, it does noy exist even if you throw money at it. The biggest thing though is we need a manager passionate about Leeds, we need players passionate about Leeds. BMD is, as is Ross, that can only be good

We can only use common sense here, I have friends called Paddy, Jock and Ginge, but some people would find them insulting, it all depends on the crowd that you are surrounded with}

As soon as cellino is official then he will be out.
They jumped the gun and look very stupid.
Bmd not so stupid, he knows they wanted him out and he can go now knowing the fans back him and his stock has rose again and he will end up in another job quickly.

Is Massimo an Abramovitch.

Closure is what we need and it is one or the other

In cellinio artical it says he had players from Italy and frAnce lined up but did not go through. Could the French one be gradel? I know it don't mean rubbish now but it could have been his way of getting fans onboard. To be honest I'm really confused and can't see Brian coming back though I would love him to. I think if it does go through we will start building a strong squad but could see managers/coaches come and go if they don't get results instantly. Hope we get everything sorted one way or another so we can focus on the football not board room antics. Great to see everyone united yesterday that's what we need if we are going to move forwards.

Not posted in a long while but thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Personally I think the way McDermott has been treated has been a total shambles. However if he was actually sacked in a dignified way I wouldn't argue either way as there's a reasonable case to keep him but also a very reasonable case to sack him with our recent form.

A lot of people are giving out quite a lot about if Festa was given the job I for one hope he doesn't get it if McDermott goes but the reason most people are giving out is because of his lack of experience at this level, I think you'll find McDermott came from Woking manager to Reading Chief Scout hardly vasts amounts of experience there and that turned out alright for Reading didn't it.

Any new manager should be giving the backing of the fans no matter what, I myself who detested the appointment of Warnock but still backed the club in their decision because he's only one man the club will always be the club.

From reading things about the new owner to be perfectly honest I'm kind of excited about it the man has over 20 years of experience in Serie A & Serie B (way more than GFH), didn't need to finance the deal with a consortium (GFH we don't even know everyone who shares a slice), wants to buy back Elland Road (GFH never even tried), has links with a club who we could potentially loan players from (GFH no links to no anyone) and wants to invest proper money into players.

For those reasons they outweigh the cons of him having a fraud conviction to me and assuming he passes the fit and proper test despite all the turmoil I'm feeling good about about our future.

With Bmd we don't win for an eternity, without him we have one of our biggest wins for years. This sayes it all.He is not equipped to handle the pressure at this club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No it doesn't. He won the title with Reading or have you forgotten that? He's already proved he can handle the pressure. Really, some people's lack of ability to apply a bit of logic is simply astounding.

What this says is that managers and players are badly affected when there is uncertainty and political unrest at a club. Players are human beings too and this stuff doesn't just pass them by.

Also, have you forgotten Birmingham too? Prior to all this kicking off we were flying under McDermott.

If you were at the game yesterday you will have seen that we were woeful in the first half and fantastic in the second half.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were told at half time that McDermott was still the manager and that lifted our game. Just a thought.

Just seen this LUFC fans.
In early 2010 Massimo attracted the attention of the press with a news bomb, "the ongoing negotiations for the purchase of West Ham. Then when the deal seemed to come off now here's the denial, the English football team will go into the hands of the couple David Sullivan David Gold (former owner of Birmingham) who have paid the equivalent of 57 million euro for 50% of company, plus the assumption of debt.

In March 2010, Massimo Cellino tries again this time with a team of "Championship", the English second division, the Crystal Palace, the historic club and one of the oldest in the world (has 140 years of history), which would cost infinitely less than West Ham because in Serie B and it is in receivership, with the owners to sell the provisional prices.
But even if this attempt fails, tries again with the QPR (Queen's Park Rangers), the club from Briatore bought a couple of years ago and already sold by the Italian billionaire, who has maintained a share. Everything could be resolved during the summer months.

Looks like the personic Italian has History on trying to get a English football club, and FAILED!

First time poster, just felt compelled to offer my own opinion on Cellino.

Let's just say he never existed (many posters would love that) however, go back to transfer window. SC takeover would still have failed so BMC would not have been able to bring anyone in.

There would have been outrage towards GFH (and possibly BMC?) then, IF we had then lost to the dog botherers what would this site have been saying re BMC then? 9 defeats GFH & BMC are doing ok?

Farnans group ( we seem to park he was Ex Man U) originally offered 7 million, we have good reason to believe ( from Mick Jones) to Popey, that we are losing 650k every month, even my maths tells me that our debt may have increased by 10 - 12 million since I GFH saved us from Pappa Smurf.

Like everyone in the country I like BMC, was chuffed to bits when we got him, but he has had more money to spend than Sean Dyche at Burnley!

So in comes a MAD ITALIAN who is cash rich and passionate, you would have to be completely mad to want to pump 25 million! Of his own money into us with high debts and very little assets, save Ross, Sam, and an amazing set of fans.

The Italian way is coaches, sporting directors or yes, owners choose and buy players and the coaches. well coach them. Reading between the lines BMC in discussing this with Cellino was not willing to except this. But as an employee I dislike many things my own Company do, but if I don't like it, I have very limited options.

Southampton, is a great example, they didn't like Jonny Foreigner turning up with his strange ways and throwing his money around, but look at them now.

None of us know, how big the debt is at Leeds, but we do know, what assets we really have, and we do know we need quality investment, significant investment, to get back to where we belong.

I see Cellino, as a chance to dream, a chance to actually get ER BACK, and buy quality players, or import quality Italian players! Not Brown.

People are clamouring for BMC back, for Farnans consortium to ride in to save us and for the Mafia, to go home.

Careful what you wish for guys that's all.

Totally agree mate but what seems to be happening is he isn't planning on bringing in quality Italian players but only average ones. Are Cagliary going to let there best players go. No. Both he and Festa don't know anything about the championship nor the Leeds united academy. My pick would be Cellino's millions and MCD's know how. And I think this is the gist of the post on the OS where Haigh states the club are discussing the management structure.JD

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post in the main but you make an unfair comparison between Burnley and Leeds. Dyche inherited an infinitely better squad than McDermott.

IMO Warnock did a lot of damage in his short tenure by bringing in a boatload of journeymen hoofers whilst letting players go like, dare I say, Clayton. He's a player who actually know how to pass a ball as we saw throughout the first half yesterday (let's be honest, at half time 1-1 flattered us).

McD needs at least another 18 months before we can judge him fairly and an appropriate budget. His record elsewhere suggests that, with the right tools, he can do the job.

I've heard that Cellinios conviction for fraud were ten years ago. In standard disclosure convictions were you don't spend time in prison are spent after 6 years and 10 years if u spend over 6 months in jail. Now I don't know if fit and proper Pearson test is the same as disclosure but if it is he will pass. My guess is that he will use another figure head as Vincent Tan and others have. I know one thing he has bar far and away the most money off any consortia trying to invest in Leeds can not make my mind up if its a good thing or not.

Been trying to tell you all for two weeks exactly what's going on behind the scenes.
I've been laughed at and ridiculed by many who haven't a clue.
Fawksey I expect your apology but of course I won't get it.
Behind closed doors so much is happening and I keep saying all will be revealed very soon.
I'm not a PR person for anyone but like you all I care about our once great club and I will continue to work as hard as I can so we will see the glory days back at ER.
Clearly up to now Leeds just can't deliver on the park and everyone is upset.
The future is White and it doesn't matter who owns us just that they have the football knowledge and cash to get us back on top of Europe where we belong.

To say I am bemused is a bit of an understatement. On Friday Cellino is reported as saying, I have no coice but to sack Brian McDermott. I want a head coach not a MANAGER. On Saturday he reportedly said I did not sack or want to sack Brian McDermott, I couldn't as the deal is not done, I like this COACH! He then goes on to accue GFH of wanting Brian sacked but not having the courage of their convictions. GFH also state they did not want Brian sacked and it was a lawyer acting for a party who did not own LUFC. Bottom line is GFH are in a mess and desperate to get out. Cellino is desperate to get his hands on an English club. They are both dodgy so perfect for each other, no questions asked, no due diligence, thank you very much. Appaling, where are the authorities?

There is an interesting article in the mail on Sunday making a few quotes to the financial situation with LUFC. It sounds like we need money bad with various loans becoming a struggle.
How can this be with the crowd sizes and the club as a brand,
I for one would like cellino to come and give us financial stability.

Any thoughts ed on the financial situation?

{Ed013's Note - It is all hard to understand without proof, but GFH have got themselves in a mess and it seems they refuse to put any of their money into the club. From what I can gather the cash income doesn't cover the running of the club, wages and loans and therefore have to sell or go bust}

I'am willing to let cellino have a chance after reading the statements and his interview from yesterday, it seems that he really does care about us fans and wants the best for the club. I hope that he doesn't sack BMD and its sounds promising money wise with him wanting to invest substantially and buy back elland road.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cellino states he did not sack Brian and could not as the deal is not done. He then states GFH wanted Brian sacked but did not have the courage to do it!Kinda suggests you sacked him for them Mr Cellino. A senior partner at a law firm sacks a manager knowing he has no legal leg to stand on? All very strange. This man is a habitual lier and should not be let anywhere near our club

Interesting Cellino interview with the Telegraph.

He's backtracked a lot over the last 12 hours. He now claims Festa was only there to translate (not sure who for?) and that it ws GFH not him that wanted to sack McD. All very bizarre.

I reckon the crowd reaction combined with Enterprise/Flamingoland's statements have rattled him. I guess even multimillionaires need outside sponsorship and to keep the crowd onside.

For his part McD has been advised by his lawyer to submit a list of questions to Haigh to which he needs satisfactory answers before returning to work tomorrow.

Cellino's whining about the FL being too slow because he had 5 players lined up from Italy & France. Not sure any manager would want 5 players picked for him by the owner. I expect that a commitment to non-interference with the team will one of the questions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As Cellino said he wants a coach not a manager, Neil Redfern does not go to Bmc and tell him which players he wants. That is why Cellino had players lined up to come in. When Cellino takes control (and the sooner the better as I am concerned) he will buy the players and BMc or who ever is the coach will work with them. If you remember under the Denis Wise regime Poyet was the coach and he was the driving force of the success.

Agree0 Disagree0

But is Cellino the right man to choose players? Cagliari are OK but they're not exactly threatening to win the Champions League after 20 years of his ownership.

I don't object to the principle of a director of football and anywhere who has read Michael Calvin's excellent book 'The Nowhere men' will know that most successful teams have a technical staff which co-operate and find consensus on player acquisitions, but autocratic owners do not have a good record. Even Abramovich seems to have learned his lesson after the Shevchenko fiasco.

Agree0 Disagree0

If someone agrees a sponsorship deal a contract is signed, it can not be withdrawn, just not renewed when contract is up.Just thought I would clear that up for you.B-)

So Cellino has unsacked Brian. let's hope it is due to him being an emotional, passionate italian and his respect for the fans response and not just until he finally owns the club.

I think the biggest problem now is if Brian WANTS to come back he will almost certainly have to accept a very different role. He is used to being a manager from top to bottom and having the final say on everything. Now though he will be asked to coach players potentially that are chosen for him not by him and this would be a big compromise in his philosophy. I hope it happens but I can't honestly see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Brian would be able to work with Cellino, he would not be manager he would be a coach, and would have no say regarding new players, and we would be flooded with Italian players, its heartbreaking, and certainly not over yet!

Yes a very good statement from Nigel Gibb and Ross McCormack. just shows there is some loyalty left in the game.
