02 Jan 2019 23:07:17
We need 2 signings, nothing more, Ibai Gomez. Replacement for saiz, key number 10 in system we play and knows the bielsa way and obvs a new keeper, BPF not nearly as bad as we make out but clearly not great either! 5 signings in Jan will be detrimental. Never thought I'd say that but that's how good to manager is. Truely world class. Blessed to have him, keep the faith. Bielsa does in his players and the guy is a genius bringing his methods to a league like the championship!
And on another note - Alioski, what a transformation, despite the stick he inevitably reads on twitter, great strength of character.

We as fans have a duty to keep ER a comfortable atmosphere for the players this year, no grumbling, no social media slanging. No tweeting rads for not spending 20 mill, This could well be our return. Everyone connected with the club has to play a blinder,

MOT.

Nice one Kev, been thinking for a while that Leeds "fans" should be barred from Twitter, so much vitriol and bitterness after every game whether we win, lose or draw. They seem to pick on certain players and try to make their lives a misery.

We need 3, I agree with your 2 but we need a center half as well, we are very thin on defenders.

Shame Izzy Brown has not been able to play for us, he was excellent in champ end of last season .
But I would like us to see if we can get a c/ h in even if it's a loan, In my book K p is much better suited to def/ mid .

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 14:20:34
Agree with you Kev

a couple of real good uns is far better than bringing loads of mediocre in just for the sake of it

Definitely more legs for the attacking side of the game and a second keeper

don't think we need much more in defence for this league. we already have it all covered (injuries don't last forever) . Anyone new coming in needs to be outstandingly good or they are blocking the development of some good youngsters.

RFB Ayling, Beradi, Dallas, Shackleton (with Gotts getting good reports from the U23s)

LFB Douglas, Pearce, Dallas, Aloiski, Davis

CB Jannson, Cooper, Beradi, Phillips, Halme, Ayling, Shaughnessy.

Gotts is a cracking young player

I like him a lot and can’t wait to see how MB can develop him.

I was in the Forest end which was fun especially when we went 2-1 up. We played all the football and should and could have been up by 3 at half time. The Forest fans we stunned! My worry is after the Hull we would look leggy and tired but we looked a really decent team. The Forest fans around me said we where the best team by far to come to Forest but said we have a dodgy keeper. Something all Leeds fans have been saying for months.

George! ! less of the negativity :)

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 08:09:22
Stafford George not being negative, we are as a team in the best place and our best chance for automatic promotion. Yes we have done great so far and yes we all want to trust that we will get up this season. But it's not negativity to ask for the team to be strengthened, we are suffering from lots of injuries and with a small squad we just don't want to see all this effort count for nothing. I love that some on here have unswerving faith and the rest of us hope those people are right as we all want the same result promotion. It's not negativity, it's an opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 08:56:58
#lackofinvestment will cost us Brown a prime example of cheaper option. A complete red herring.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 09:23:49
Totally agree George, think it's his general positioning that really is the problem as I said the other day every time we concede a corner or set play near the box it's hold your breath time .
I don't think it's been helped by injuries not having a regular c/ h pairing has cost us.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 12:39:18
Like Bamford wex?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2019 14:31:01
Even opposing fans are saying get a new keeper as they feel he's undermining our play. On that note, our general play is excellent. The movement, passing, even the tackling etc it's all great but players are tired and the underuse of Halme and Shacks isn't wise. It's an act of lunacy over a busy period. Other teams are strengthening now. They might not have Bub as manager but they'll close the gap on us and probably overtake unless we reinforce.

Currently I think our management are overcomplicating the situation. Just get the players in! Worry about integration later! We didn't concern ourselves with the fitness of Brown when we got him. I see 6th place or worse in our future unless we address in the coming weeks. I'm not attempting to be negative. I'm attempting what I consider to be the truth. I say what I like and I like what I say.

Need a goalkeeper and additional centre back. Would also like to see an attacking midfielder. But see the priorities as the first two. Would like us to rid Hull for the guy who put two past us. He looked very useful and would fit into our system well.

Bring in a keeper and the Swiss lad, maybe 1 more.

I was in the Forest end which was interesting when we went 2-1 up😅 I thought they played well and played all the football. I think with a few returning player especially in central defence and a new GK we will win this league. That’s not me what’s said that was the Forest fans.

not sure about that. true he is not great like he was last season but still very good

Well I had my first football related barney of the New Year this morning. Went to my local corner shop for the daily paper and was indulging in some friendly banter with the owner (Liverpool fan) about all things Leeds / Liverpool when this guy comes in and spouts “ Rubbish Leeds. ” I took him to task and was verbally winning on points when in comes another geezer who then added “I watched that Leeds game yesterday and it was like watching paint dry”. eh?

In the end I stuffed me paper under me arm opened the door and said “Any more of this crap and we'll sort it 'art on t'cobbles! ” Luckily I didn't get any offers. Can I say at this point that all 3 customers involved were pensioners who should have known better! It's a funny old game :-)

No doubting MB is a brilliant manager/ coach, hope he gets some players in this window. Brilliant team effort yesterday with 10 men, the team spirit of not giving up is so different to previous seasons where we would have taken a hammering in games like yesterday.

Need reinforcements for promotion. GK Heaton loan with option to buy, CB is Rob Huth available? MF Bradley Dack, ST would go for Gayle.

Does anyone think MB is pinning hopes on players coming back from injury to get is over the line?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cech too big a wage and he’d want to play too often

BPF needs to play and be challenged not sat on the bench

I’d have called John lukic or David seaman ( who’d probably coach BPF for nowt ) by now for BPF

Bring in a slightly more experienced keeper
Willing to work for a spot

It’s all about opinions innit?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 12:11:57
Hopefully we can get a GK in before the Derby match. One who has experience using his feet so they can slip straight in the first eleven.

BPF yesterday, words can't even describe the lad at times. No wonder York City sent him back, he made Colback look like Messi dribbling around him and with nearly every corner jumps off his line then takes a back step.

The shot panned to Jansson yesterday when it went 3-2 and you can see it in his face. There's no confidence there, the outfield players put in an almighty shift to change the game for him to ultimately throw it away AGAIN!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2019 14:07:28
Harsh.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 14:25:29
It's just down to experience sherburn. Unfortunately for him we can't afford inexperience if we want promotion and Rob greens not the answer either. Need someone with a couple of seasons in them to help the lad on.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 14:31:29
We can call it harsh, but over the years these keepers have made a fraction of the mistakes he has and they all got sold:

Rachubka
Ankergren
Lonergan
Silvestri
Wiedwald
Schmeichel
Kenny
Higgs
Green

All of whom (with the exception of Rachubka) were more consistent that BPF. In 5 years he'll be playing league 2 at best.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 15:43:31
Calling Green Consistent shows how shirt you're memory is.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 16:25:05
Sherburn, really! Rachuba! He made more mistakes in one match than bailey has this season and he wasn’t learning!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 16:25:06
He didn't cost a goal at the rate of one every two games. Right now there is one position holding the team back as a whole and it's GK, it's the place where you cannot afford for individual errors.

I've seen Forshaw get slated for his performance which was a one-off by his standards yet with BPF it's 'he needs time, he'll get better'.

His natural ability is set and it's not a very good level. Too quiet, flimsy, can't distribute long. He's just horrendous.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 16:38:58
Actually, with the exception of Schmeichel, none of them were flawless, and none of them were consistent. Even the likes of Martyn and Lukic had their howlers. Nature of the position, really. It’s just more glaring as a GK. BPF will be a fantastic keeper one day, but he needs an experienced pro competing with him, to help his development. And Wiedwald? Consistent? Yep, at being bloody useless!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 16:40:19
Sherburn, with the greatest of respect, I think if you have come to that opinion then Bielsa will have done himself and we will get a new keeper, so no worries! If he doesn’t then I would probably go with the opinion of somone who works with him everyday in training and who will definitely know what the senior pros think of him!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 17:00:46
Exactly Spanish, but I'm very confident that when he is replaced in the starting line up. He'll never get back in.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 17:03:35
bright Lukic was and still is a god. i would still pick lukic now, can't believe he ain't in the england squad ahead of pickford. i love lukic

I think the trouble with BFP is he is very good but makes a lot of really poor mistakes. I would put him in the same catagory as sprake (not saying he is as good as sprake but similar) both are very capable of making great saves and then letting in a howler. My opinion of sprake was he cost us and a better more consistant keeper would of won us more, i hope BFP doesn't cost us promotion but on form it looks like he might be capable of winning us the league and also capable of us droping out of top two.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 17:49:47
Would that be the same John Lukic that couldn't see the ball when the floodlights were on? ;)

I've been asked which teams I believe are 'punching above their weight? ' ie Which teams are doing better than they could be expected to do? In answer I would say Norwich, Sheffield United and Leeds. Which teams will get automatic promotion? I would say West Bromich definitely. Then any one of Norwich, Derby, Leeds and Middlesborugh. A cheeky bet as to which team might get promotion through the play offs : Hull City (although of all the teams they are the ones I would least like them to do it) . Let's see in May.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2019 12:34:09
Hess, I agree with your three over achieving. For us given the minimal changes and the fact, Bamford and Brown so far has no real impact. West Brom, I thought would have one of the positions nailed in by now, but it hasn’t happened and they are proving more unpredictable than I thought.

I think what’s clear is that possibly, more than for a long time, the two automatic places are going to be there for the taking. Who is going to step up?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:26:28
Bamford and Brown need to play to have an impact. can't do it from the medical bay.

I think we are playing as good as I’ve seen us all season.
We have lost two on the bounce but we gifted it to forest. Well us and the linesman. They were rubbish.
And if you are top of the table and lose 2 you would expect to not be top.

Truth of the matter is that any of the top10 can take points of eachother so there are no dead Certs.
I agree that West Brom with a fit team are the best but they can’t lose a player or two without falling apart. We have lost players and kept going with what we have got and are still top.
I can’t pick a top 2. But I’m pretty sure we will be one of them.

Not borough. Sheff. Norwich that’s for sure.
Shame about tonight. We were better team.
Yes. Please get a goalie and quick.

02 Jan 2019 09:51:42
This is not a criticism of the mighty Bielsa but just my view of things. Think it would make more sense to play Halme and have KP in holding role. Foreshaw offers no protection to back four and plays better higher up field. KP does an excellent job there and gets the ball forward this would make it easier for Halme to settle in. For all that's been said about his fitness i would play Clarke from the off bringing him on at half time when we are two goals down just puts more pressure on him. Would rather he had to be taken off second half when we are two goals up. More use needs to be made of Shackleton and less of Harrisson. We are all hoping for two or three signings this month because we need them. See we are getting another young one through the door for academy so i hope Orta is as quick with first team additions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2019 10:24:35
I'm not sure, I think if forshaw didn't play we would miss his legs and mobility. for me if KP is to play it should be for kiltch who started the season great but recently has not done much. Forshaw made a couple of misatkes yesterday but was busy and all over the park, where as kitlch barely touched the ball, that also moves KP's passing further up the park and means KP has to cover less ground

there must be an issues with clarks fitness as the lad is quality, it is no suprise that we score more gaols in second half when the lad is on the pitch.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 10:44:15
I think Forshaw and Klich need a bit of a rest, but only likely to happen in the cup at the moment.

Three comments re Clarke, it’s interesting that we always see only playing a half as a bad thing. I think subs can be used creatively to mix things up and keep the opponents guessing. Only playing a half doesn’t mean you’re not good enough or have let the team down.

Clarke struggles to deliver what Bielsa wants over 90 minutes. I’ve seen him at under 23s and not tracking back as much, knackered after the 90.

Finally he is still learning the tracking back part of the game, naturally he stays up field more and when he started, he looked a bit more like a “lazy” winger. All of that is changing but don’t let’s rush him and criticize him when he doesn’t deliver a great 90.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 10:53:06
Tend to agree with you there Bige. KP has his best games when deployed in the holding role, and it’s no coincidence that we’ve shipped goals since he dropped into defence (not that it’s his fault) . Hoping coops will be back soon, because as mad as it seems to some, we looked much More solid with him playing, and Kal sat in front.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 10:59:17
KP played Klitchs role in academy in front of Cook for years and scored some belters so would not argue with putting him further forward, if he did would like to have Coops back or aother experienced cb in.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 12:05:51
KP doesn't have the mobility or guile to play further upfield. He has found his position sitting in front of the back four and has been one of the players of the season (so far) in that position.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 12:46:56
Clarke seems to struggle after 20 min. Not sure if it's a fitness thing or teams react to his threat and counter it.
We will never know what he can do in a full game until we try!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:33:06
Def need coops back or even Berardi.
Kp better in holding role.
Forshaw was poor tonight but Klich got better as game went on.
Clarke who will be a world beater just got less of the ball later. Not his fault.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:34:43
If its fitness I'm fairly sure playing regularly will help with that and it won't be long until he is a starter.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 13:58:50
I agree Bige. Kal was always a more forward thinking player, and has a right shot in his pocket! That said, I bow to Bielsa in identifying his clear ability playing from the back.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2019 15:30:12
Spanish, I am thinking along similar lines to you regarding Clarke and strategic use of subs. Man U rarely gave Solskar a full game, but his tally was superb. Over the decades there have been some super "super subs" who have been most effective for half a match. Bielsa knows his stuff and I am happy with how Clarke contributes in just half a match. If his legs weren't as fresh in second half, when theirs are tired, he may lose impact. Tis not broke so let's not fix it.

It was a definitely red card, although I'm watching MOTD at the moment and I've seen a few worse tackles with no red cards, down to the ref at the end of the day. Surprising to see a few posters actually wanting my mate super Cooper back in the team, people coming round to my way of thinking :) poor bloke couldn't buy a good word on here before this season.

Here’s a touching real life story of betrayal and intrigue

Well no, not really, but here’s why we are going up as champions

Every single player has bought into this “project”. Well, bar one and he’s now in Spain. No actually it’s not a project it’s a holy mission, a crusade. This bunch of players get that. They really do.

Coops and stu sitting with fans
KP and BG apologising for performances and mistakes

This is the most united united for 36 years

This brothers and sisters is why we will be promoted as champions

Buy into it, get behind them and you will see the reward

This is happening

Once Leeds united get everyone pulling in the same direction there’s no stopping us

Believe

It clearly says marching on “together “ and that absolutely includes Bermo with his new found love for the legend that is KP.

Now that’s more like a candidate for post of the year so far! Money can buy you expensive players but it can’t buy you everything Other Woody had talked about above. That is what has taken us to where we are today and damage it at your peril!

In the summer we took two big gambles Bamford, big fee and big wages and Brown, time and future wages. Neither has yet come off. If those two are available and playing well before the end of Jan, regardless of anything else, you can imagine the impact.

not sure about love for KP but he has improved and his attitude speaks for itself. This team is united same as with wilko and under o'leary. The team is better than it's parts and so entertaining to watch. even when we lose we are great to watch.

Absolutely Bermo. A great team for the neutrals but we are trying to play football the right way and earn promotion as an attractive team. It’s bielsas way and you aren’t going to change him. You get what’s good with him and things that frustrate you at times but that’s his way and if you don’t like it, he’ll go back to Argentina!

The Forest game was a game where heads could have dropped, tired bodies could have given up and blamed KP and Bielsas methods . But they didn’t, until the final whistle. I’m sure that is the kind of attitude that every Leeds fan wants from players wearing the shirt! Don’t give up on these guys too easily!

2 defeats, but other results been kind and not done too much damage, every team up there are having good and bad runs.
Really think players need this 10 day rest before Derby, play a reserve side in cup with ailing to get up to speed as he not looked there yet. Don't think Harrison helped him yesterday, not great linking up between them.
We have all been saying it, Kp not CB and he needs to go back in midfield after ban.
They did amazing with 10 men and to get back the lead, guess recent games took its toll, was shouting at tv after 1-2 to get on couple of subs.
Seen Heaton played for Burnley and did great, wonder save late on, should have been sorted b4, I rate him, now hope for darlow as BPF not the answer, just yet.
I have a weird and sickening feeling we won't invest and may slide out of automatic spots. Need coops back ASAP. The league is there for the taking and only need 3 quality additions to get promoted (GK, winger, forward) . Will know more by 1st feb and if rad's is serious, MOT.

So we finally have to cope without KP for 3 games. Does that include the fa cup as well anyone know?

I think the FA Cup does count as one of the games, I hope so anyway. I'm guessing we'll be fine without him anyway, play Aapo at CB and Forshaw in KP's position.

If Aapo comes in at cb Forshaw will stay where he is. and yes fa cup does count.

fa cup does count and maybe shaks to come in and stamp his quality on the team?

I know i am not KP's biggest fan so may be biased but i think we will cope without him not because i'm sying he is no good but because the sprit of the team will cover for his loss.

Bermo, there’s an u23 ready and waiting to put in for most positions now:

Gotts,
Stevens,
Oduor,
Baby shaks.

They’ll put a shift for the shirt.

Yer right Aus. As Pontus said in his Twitter response, Kal is one of the main reasons we are where we are, as he has been immense this season. If Aapo slots in at CB, I can, tho, see Baby Shacks doing a job too. We have a glut of talent waiting for their opportunities.
