Steve Thompson has joined Grayson at Preston.
Thompson done a great job at Leeds last season and Larry will always be fondly remembered.
Best of luck to the two of them.

Corky can you elaborate on GREAT job please because I would say Don Revie did a GREAT job and also Howard Wilkinson!

I agree. Far from great job. Ok bloke and ok job but not up to getting us into the promised land!

kjc, so only Revie and Wilko have done great jobs at Leeds?
My point was that when Thompson joined our club we were looking f***ed but then, maybe coincidently, our league position improved ten fold. Between him and Redders we were kept up by team spirit, certain players not withstanding.

I tell you what kjc, Wilkinson or Revie would never have worked for the likes of Cellino. Of that I am sure.

have to disagree, wilko and reive like all managers in this market would want work. Revie was best in his day like mourino is best of this day and he works for someone not far from MC twice. Also I think larry did a great job, and I will define great. he got us promoted great, he then got us playing good football great, he had to have all his best players leave for nothing then replace them time and time again great, he got the best out of players and had a great eye for talent great, and he got us playing above our station something we have not done for many a year. As I have asked many times and no one have given an answer yet, apart from wilko and reive who else is better than old Larry? or as I like to call him larry the great (it has a better ring than larry the 3rd best). Also would wilko of done as well if he had to sell speed, batty, mac, strachan and champan for peanuts and then given a fiver to replace them. probably not. Reive, wilko and larry all did the best they could with the hand they had and I for one think very highly of all three

Well, not like me to agree with BW (coughs), but I'm also a big fan of Larry. I think he did a great job with us given the players he had and I've already gone on record to say I would have welcomed him back , and he could have brought Beckford with him for me. That doesn't mean I'm unhappy with our new coach and the signings so far.But I think it was a shrewd move for Larry to take Thompson, we were singing his praises only a few weeks ago. I expect Preston to be a surprise team next season, and I can see them making the playoffs

Good to see Uwe stating that Cellino has set him a goal of finishing in the top 10 this year. That is very realistic and with the young talent staying, the new (so far) and future signings this window we should easily achieve that. He needs to back Uwe and give him a good run this year, if we lose a few he needs to give Uwe time to make HIS team work. The last thing we need this year is a series of different managers again.

I am feeling very optimistic that we can achieve top 10 and may even reach the play offs, also glad to see that Cellino seems to be acting responsible and professionally at the club this year.

Hold on to your hats this will be an exciting ride this season.

Agree mate and although it is looking good so far. Let's not get too carried away. 2 more good signings. A reasonable season and same manage is a step in right direction. Hope Cellino dosent think laying out a few mill is recipe for instant success!

I know what you meant about decorum and being rich mate, and may I say you are absolutely spot on and everyone I read your posts you are alwYs positive about our club and in return you get negative replies. MC and Pearson are doing a great job, the signings so far have been spot on, not panic buys or loans just future potential and needed now signings. We have spent money, money we as supporters thought didn't exist. Uwe is saying all the right stuff. We have got rid of useless back room staff and less than useful squad players. All of the above have been the subject of disgruntled fans on here, as each day goes by more and more of these points have been addressed but still they challenge and won't eat pie!! Well done Ausman, great posts and I hope for true fans like you that we have a great season, but watch out mate, we will win the League, FA Cup and League Cup but it still won't be good enough! MOT FOREVER

Behave yourself Mike, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and just because you don't agree and some are not as blinkered as you, doesn't mean they are less valid. Who said we weren't happy with spending money, getting Pearson in, getting new players in then? No-one so get your facts right Mr number one fan! If you look at my posts you'll see I said that the best signing yet was Pearson and that I'd still support Leeds no matter what. When we win the league I will be happy and I'll be there, will you?

Handbags away please. The fact is some have been slagging Cellino off since Hockaday, long before Redfearn was ousted. A lot of it was justified as it was like my old sixth form classroom at times. But Cellino took over with the intention of investing and getting into premiership. Lot say he bought crap players but my opinion is we had crap coaches let's see what they do this season. Not many thought that owner and players had come from a totally different culture and needed time to settle, a lot did not even get a game. Things will happen that we disagree on and that's what this site is for. Rosler imo the coach to take us to the premiership, but will he get us to the champions league, that is Cellinos decision. I think Cellino will invest to get us to the top because it is possible, it was not with Cagliari but he was there 20 years heres to next twenty, me and Stella are celebrating our new signings

The majority of people who have slated Cellino on here, me included, have done so because they don't like the way he dealt with Redfearn. There's no humble pie to eat here Aus, as I still do not like the way he treats people (and the law come to think of it) and I'll stand by that. The fact he has Pearson now (a professional) to talk for him is a Godsend as I dread it every time he goes on one of his rants. Let's just hope he doesn't get jealous of Pearson taking the credit next season and decides to sack him too.

If we achieve success with Cellino at the helm, then I'll be happy. It's our team, not his. He's only looking after it for a few years until he gets bored.

If you were referring to any other pie and not humble pie, then I apologise and yes please, I'll have some, unless it's Kangaroo pie!

Rich people in general don't have decorum mate. That's why they are rich. He is no saint it's true.
Lots were doubting his pocket as well as his professionalism

Although I have never knocked M C he has been his own worst enemy in regards to dealing with the media and personnel.
I do believe he has passion and wants the best for the club as he realises that the club is a sleeping giant.
We know that he has had to deal with a number of legal cases last year relating to the club and a massive minus figure reported in club accounts which he can not be held responsible for.
Positives regarding Leeds are ever present in regards to are media presence and pre-season appointments ,this with what seems to be some careful recruitment in terms of players will hopefully see are club move forward for the first time in years .

Ausman what has decorum got to do with having money? Baffling words.

These are some very good posts. I have slated cellino. He is barking and rude and lies every now and again. I can accept all of that as I have high tolerance. All I wanted him to do was start buying quality. He's doing that now so it's all good. Pearson is making tremendous difference. He brings sanity to the club. If we bring in quality wingers we will be on the fringe of playoffs.

Since Pearson came into the club and Cellino taking a back seat the club is running a lot more smoothly and positively may it continue into the new season with results to match.

i don't think decorum is the right words but I can see what he is saying, people who are succsseful in business (therefore have money) often are very driven, set high stanadrs, have no tolenrance for failure, see stats not people, are blinkered and to a large extent narssasitic, what makes them great also makes them flawed. look at abromvic, without a doubt the most influential owner ever in my opinion and he has all these traits, the only difference is roman has a lot more money than mc and so far has given more instant success. I don't care how mc fluants the law (roman did the same thing I believe back in the day or very similar) I don't care how he treats staff (again look at roman when he first sacked mourinio) I just care that he makes leeds a better club which so far he has done, until he takes us up and keeps us up I fear mc will never be given the credit he deserves flaws and all

Her Fuhrer saying he is very impressed with him, albeit after one days training. There are bound to be a few players who grasp the opportunity and stake their place in the team. I hope so because players like Ajose, Sloth and Montenegro could save us a few quid if they come good.

Was just about to post about Montenegro madmick did we get him because of the embargo he was only on loan last season so we must of only been able to sign him about now anyone seen him training or owt redfern wasted a good chance to give him ago on left last season.9 strickers now if he is here who do we off load think walters and (Dawson why he hasn't been loaned for 3 years he's been about 1st team ill never know.) grimes (phillips maybe??) and mcdaid would make ten strikers aswell ffs all these guys need loan spells I want to see how they all do with 1st team football.

Not leeds related even though they have half our old players like to keep an eye on local teams anyone else feel Rotherham are going to struggle this season the were lucky last year but they are bringing the sort ken would of got us and they have lost two of there main threats in revel and pringle good odds on them not finishing bottom right?

Reading reports thet "Leeds do not need to sell top / youing talent".

This isn't the problem, the problem is not signing them up to a new contract. Byram, needs another year at least (same as Cooky) on his contract, this will offer us a little more security and ensure he doesn't leave for peanuts next summer.

Erwin will surely be a bench player who would expect to start when resting Wood. Doukara will do well to get on the bench.
