Just been reading the posts and am amazed that some folk reel off 10 -12 names from youth team and think the futures rosie! Jesus if we can get 2 players from current crop we doing well. OK Dawson has lot of promise by all accounts and Byram has come through already but you can't rely on teenagers because at least half will fall by the wayside. And I am not Alan Hansen! MOT

Im just thinking maybe mcdermott has been told to say they have no money so people won't ask for silly money. Otherwise where has 1 million come from to bid for luke murphey?

I agree with that wholy, prime example being Rowe from Peterborough. That and the tactic to wait when bids are accepted from other clubs might prove quite successful. In the case of Murphy, Leeds would probably be a better bet than Blackburn (new manager every 3 months and too much interference from the board) and Wolves (in a league below and just rebuilding). MacD will be the deciding factor in most our signings.

I trust BMD to sign the right players & cull the dross from our squad. Our academy is ready to supply 11+ players already we could clear 14 players & not sign anyone & fill their places in the squad with academy players.
It's not all bad at the club there is a lot that's actually going well.
You are talking absolute bo****ks. The youth should be integrated into the matchday squad however to replace the majority of the senior playing staff would be suicide.

You are missing the point I am making. The step up from youth football to Championship is a massive step and although some may adjust others will not. Also the youth side did well to win their division but it was not the top division and therefore they are not world beaters. As I said before integrate the youth into the side which will require us to be less reliant on signing old has beens, however you still require a mix of experience to go with the youth

Okay guys we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves here. Yes, I myself am not happy that we had to send off Morrison on loan. But, if reports are correct, we've put in a 7 figure transfer bid for Luke Murphy. If this turns out to be true, I hope we start to BE QUIET and HAVE FAITH in our new owners. Yes we've not had much good to go on, but it's not even the transfer window yet! Things will start to take shape, and if they don't, then we have reason to be angry. But if things do go well, then I think we all will feel like muppets. BMcD said that we might have to sell to buy some, but it doesn't mean we'll have to sell to buy every transfer target. We might actually have a reasonable transfer budget, but not enough for what BMcD needs. So, we need to sell some to get the rest. The point is, we don't know, so don't get your knickers in a twist. Somebody put on here that we were linked with Andre Wisdom ( Being a local lad ) and that a northern based football journalist had said we would sign him. Due to Wilsons deal with Hearts being up in the air due to their financial predicament, maybe he is on the radar being a freebie and all.

I know Brian has said he has to move players on to get players in but I can't see the problem at all. He's not going to let players go to get worse players they will be in his opinion better players to boost to team. I think there may be money to spend anyway even if minimal it's just the new fair play rules mean we need to cut the wage bill to meet those rules. I know we have released a few aswel but if we were to get better player they would cost a bit more and if money is to be spent the its a near certainty that they want more money. I don't pretend to know what's going on or who we wil sign this is just me trying to think logically and positively I have faith in Brian he seems a good guy who's fiercely hungry to succeed and he has a massive point to prove too.
Keep the faith and support the team it's the only way to move forward. I will be there supporting the team no matter who's in it.

We've potentially spent nothing on two players, and saved on another leaving. who's better off?

whoever BMD brings in I will support 100%, he knows his s***, whether we sell byram or not I still think his wheeling and dealing will bring in the players he wants, he sold long and mills at reading and they were his backbone and then won the league! support the team as we will be needed as a 12th man next year more than any! no more bates so let's all be positive! MOT!

Not alot. he only spent around 2 mill in 2 seasons and made playoffs and won the league. think it was a combined amount of 15 mill brought in, he replaced long with le fondre and mills with sean morrison, my point is if byram and or mccormack were sold i'm sure he would find more than adequate replacements and for the record I don't want them to be sold but it may happen to clear up some funds
