Anyone else worried we didn't bring in another striker?

Yup I am kebab. We don't have much more than 60 league goals in our locker right now.

As there is no longer an emergency window yeah I'm worried. Monk has brought in a full team now and we have 12 midfield players, squad looks unbalanced.

Murphy Diagouraga and Grimes won't get a look in. The first two may get their contracts canceled with some compensation which is the obvious workaround to the scrapped loan system. I strongly disagree with its cancelation because we could've certainly put those two midfielders out on loan saving their wages.

Least we are going to have a fairly strong bench but our failure to land another striker will restrict our progress up the league table imo. I don't see Ant and Wood scoring much more than 30 league goals between them. Doukara Roofe Sacko Dallas and Mowatt you'd expect them to score 25 combined for the season with about 5 more coming from the rest. 60 league goals ain't going to get you a playoff berth.

Still it's been the best window we've ever had imo and we are really only 1 player short of a good side. Props to Massimo.

I have liked what Monk has built in general, we have done some really good, and really smart, business. One of the big positives has been us acquiring players with not only skill but (and this is vital without the loan window) also versatility. As a result, though I am a upset that we didn't bring in another front man, we look to have some deptth in most areas. My biggest concern however is at LB and RB. The versatility we have gives us cover, all be it at a slightly lower standard, at other areas across the pitch. My worry is that at RB we have Berardi (Constantly, and currently, injured) and Coyle (Fair enough looks the part) and LB Taylor (wanted to leave) and Berardi (Injured) with Denton (Talented but young and, much like Viera, naive) as third string cover.

Agree with you 100% George. Goals are not coming at a premium for us and we buy another defensive midfielder. Is that because Monk doesn't have faith in the defence? If that was the case, then maybe he should have addressed it. However, we have Antonsson, Doukara, Wood and Sako as known strikers and accrosding to the OS we have 12 midfielders. If we win most games 1 - 0 and are there or there about at the end of the season, then I'll accept it. What do you reckon?

George

Whilst you are correct in your assumption that Murphy, Diagouraga and Grimes may not get a look in. The players are under contract and any release would have to be negotiated with agents. In the case of Diagouraga, we had serious interest from Rotherham, that didn't happen as there was disagreement between the clubs Which must mean Cellino wanted a fee. Grimes, if not good enough to get into the team, must put a question mark over Monk's judgement. Henandez is a luxury player who only slots in if we play the right system. We still look short of goals and our defense can't defend set pieces. The international break has come at the right time for us as there is a lot to work on and we can get players fit and working together. Hard work is what is needed with this squad and good fortune in the injury department.

You were saying something about the difficulties associated with ending and paying off contracts for unwanted players?

Btw you might want to read about Sol.

We ain't going to go through a season winning 1-0 all the time. We've never really been that kind of a team. Of course I'd take it but unlikely to happen.

When I said 60 goals in the league I saw that as the ceiling. We'd be doing well to achieve that. Having seen everyone's transfer business my prediction for LUFC finish is 11th finishing about 12 points adrift of 6th. Still an improvement on last season but our failure to land a proven goalscorer will impede us this season. We are better all round the pitch but we just don't have the goals in us. I'm still pleased with Cellino's effort.

I wonder if Eunan Okane will box clever in a Leeds shirt? Or will he be gunned down in midfield?

Only the very intelligent posters will grasp that allusion. Ed001 will get it no doubt.

Ha ha.

Your Sly humour in this post George is a bit Rocky to say the least.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Celino bring in Federico Macheda on a free as the Italian Stallion tries to get us in a play off place on the cheap.

Got a fairly strong squad now, let's hope the lads "Go for it"

Whole world has gone mad. £30 Million for Sissoko Hendrick 10.5 and Reach a reserve player who has been on loan in league 1 5 million. Chris Martin on loan with option to buy at £9 million what is going on. We must get a decent price for Taylor in January.

Rico Henry looking like he is Bournemouth bound. Had a medical yesterday and set to join up with his former manager (who handed Henry his big break) so that looks like the end of that.

Exciting day ahead?

I reckon not, if I remember the last couple of windows not much (if anything) has happened.

I hope there will be some good stories mind as the rumors fly, but at this stage if we got a quality forward in I would be happy with that, a seasoned midfielder as well would be nice being greedy (with Dave/ Murphy leaving) .

Re defense I looked at height of our players who defend at corners, should not prove so hard for us to defend with training. Example Green 6'3, Jansson 6'5, Bartley 6'4, Ayling 6'1, wood 6'3, antonsson 6'.

You have to be able to make that height count in defending set-pieces, GM that is up to you mate.

I'm inclined to agree with you there DG. Nothing seems to be happening anywhere and the rumours are all quiet. Would be nice to get a couple more to finish off the rebuilding but i'm pretty happy with our window if not. Just need to start playing as a team now and cut out the schoolboy errors.

DONE DEAL - NEW SIGNING!

Leeds have landed a highly regarded bright spark in the energy supply business (see what I did there) by signing Utilita Energy as the club's new official energy supplier.

"I am over the moon" said a delighted Gary Monk. "I've been keeping tabs on Utilita for some years now after the floodlights inexplicably went off during a midweek game at Swansea", he continued.

Sol Bamba is reported to be going in the opposite direction and working in Utilita's call centre in a deal that suits both parties.

Sorry guys, I'm bored.

You got to love transfer deadline day, with all the websites offering click bait to get their numbers up. I barely get any work done and am sure there are many on here the same. In particular one site is reporting Max Gradel is available on loan after falling out with Eddie Howe. Wouldn't this be great if we signed him on a Cellino special (loan to buy) ? Sadly, I think this is what it is and there's no truth in it - please Footballing Gods prove me wrong!
