think both will be happy two good teams met, best defence against best attack both will be happy with a draw. Think borough will be more dissapointed overall. both teams could of had pens but they had one which was stone wall and our keeper made more good saves which also says alot

at the end of the day it was a point a really good point against a top team. great display from us long may it continue.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 03:11:18
Don’t think we were better team cork.
Think a draw just about right.
Tbh. Think they shaded it but not by enough to deserve to win.
We gave ball away a lot. Especially Ayling.
Fought hard and worked as a team. But didn’t offer too much threat.

Pulis set them up not to get beat, draw was always on the cards.

Think you're right too there Wex lad. They came to not lose. Very balanced game, but we played the better football, marginally. A big test which we came through well!

01 Sep 2018 13:23:32
I disagree bright.
I think they were the better team. Defence and chance. They had a lot more chances than us.
We had a bad day. Agree.
But they were more likely to win.

01 Sep 2018 16:20:17
Perfectly fair points Aus, and hard to disagree with some of it. With all them there 10ft players, they were always going to cause a few probs from set pieces. That said, I still think we played the better football., albeit marginally.

I am very pleased with the grit and determination shown against a physical Boro. What also impressed was the way we handled the set peices against a team a foot and a half taller. One small note of disappointment was the performance of Saiz. His effort was unquestionable but his final ball decision making left a lot to be desired.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2018 23:53:24
Not his kind of opponent. Too much physicality. Pablo would've struggled too. Ironically, would've suited a fit Brown. More brute running power than guile sometimes needed especially when playing the Smoggies.

Agree5 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 01:03:46
I also don't think we played to Saiz's strengths.
We played a lot more high balls than normal which seemed odd against a strong team in the air.
Passing seemed slower but Boro are excellent defensively giving little space for us to play to our strengths.
Still as everyone is saying we played against a top team and we're equal to them.
We've played 4 teams who were marked as being top 6 contenders (Boro, swans, derby and stoke) and we are unbeaten and averaging over 2 pts per game.
Lots to be pleased about.

01 Sep 2018 01:33:45
Brown.? Come on mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 08:20:28
I think it’s the combination of Hernadez and Saiz playing together that can help unlock these type of games. Much more for the opposition to think about and therefore creates more space for both of them. Harrison didn’t have a bad game but he hasn’t got Hernadez flair, movement or intelligence yet.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 10:19:13

Ayling had a bit of a stinker but he's played a lot and against a top team tonight so can be forgiven.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2018 22:32:40
Certainly can George, thought we did well against a very physical side. Some looked poor tonight but that's because they have set high standards for themselves. At least we battled and held our ground and as you said, clean sheet.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 22:37:24
love ayling but was not his best night, against a top team and had no cover from midfeild so had a hard job, beardi was like havin two men on pitch tonight so made up for rare ayling blip.

Good point for both teams way I see it. Bera was outstanding Bermy. Good games for BPF, Coops on his return put in a brave effort Douglas KP and Harrison played well. For them Shotton was immense. I expect Boro to finish no lower than second.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

31 Aug 2018 22:40:47
george i take it you watched from tv, watch it back and do three things

look at kp successful forward passes (3 of 9 pretty poor)
look at KP successful tackles (1 in 95 minutes awaful for Defensive mid)
look how many times he lost the ball leading to either foul or shot on our goal (eight again pretty poor)
also play where is wally, pause the Tv when borough shoot and play where is KP answer nowhere to be seen.

do those three things and tell me how KP played well?

agree on bera been a hasrh citicte but for me was MOTM BPF also very good (great save on 93 minutes when KP lost his man and nearly cost us the draw)

Agree2 Disagree1

31 Aug 2018 23:38:08
Berm Will take your word for it. He's more of a harrier gets in opponents faces, has a defensive physical presence. I still liked his performance but can see a red card coming his way soon.

Agree5 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 23:39:51
Many psychologists argue that we make our minds up about people in the first 5 mins and then spent the rest of the time justifying it! It feels a bit like that with Bermondsey and KP. I’ve been going through the ratings for Phillips from different websites and haven’t found one under 7 yet, when other players from the team were getting 4 5 and 6s . Your view is perfectly valid Bermondsey but at least accept that it isn’t shared by lots of other people, including Bielsa! I believe you said that Phillips would cost us against the top teams, well tonight he didn’t . What cost us tonight is the attacking members of the team weren’t able to replace the skill and guise of Hernadez!

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 00:20:21
not sure spanish if our attackers were off or if borough are that good. this is a team that has not coneeded since first game of the season when you could argue the team had not gelled. I don't think anyone can argue our attacking play was not good, however it is up for debate if that was because our forwards were poor or if because broiguh where very strong. thruth often lies in the middle although i lean towards broogu hbeing very strong.

also Phillips was one of my fav players when he broke through maybe i am dissapointed as i hoped for better and set unrealistic expectatiosn? I will admit i get stuck on certain points and must just be focusing on the bad as everyone else can not be wrong but for me he is never better than 5 out of ten and that clearly can't be the case, i must be baised against him for some reason, was the same with neil killkenny who i never saw play well for leeds.

Kept my eye on howson tonite. and my conclusion is kp
Ismuch better. i'm a big kp critic. but the bielsa machine is working.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 08:14:46
Bermondsey, very fair post! In the two games against Preston and Middlesbrough, I thought we really missed Hernandez. He is such a thinking footballer. Bielsa was so right when he talked about him. He can make something happen. When he is playing with Saiz, it gives the other team more to think about and both of them get more space. Without him, they can focus much more on Saiz and he finds it harder.
Last night we sent a lot of high balls in which their defenders possibly through height as much as ability were able to knock back. We missed that killer pass to unlock the defence on the ground.

But as you say, I don’t think this Borough side are going to concede a lot of goals this year or get beaten very often.

One more comment on Phillips, not sure what the alternatives are, Bielsa would have had a look at all the possibilities and it really seems to be that KP is his man. So let’s hope he gets better and better in his role!

On your next fave topic after KP, Millwall! I’m starting to think that the next game might be a defining moment of our season! All Leeds fans will know that this is the kind of game we can and often lose, even when doing better in other games. So imagine if we can go and really see them off! Then we will have shown we can compete against the best and deal with the nasty nigglers and it will be a good warm up before getting our revenge against Preston!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 08:32:33
Thanks Spanish I agree,

I think KP is our best option (until forshaw comes back) but just don't get the love in, George knows football and said KP was defensive rock yet in the whole game he only made one successful tackle, billy will be turning in his grave.

now Spanish turning to my next fav topic millwall. there are a few things in our favour

millwall have a lot of players injured, they have just lost their best player saville (who I love) to borough and they are in poor form, however we tend to bottle it there, have not won there in years and they have a better head to head record over the years

my conclusion. leeds will lose, this has nothing to do with Saiz, or pablo, or MB or my mate Phillips. leeds are 100% going to lose put money on it. because I will be there and I am cursed!

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 09:16:37
A crowde area, Ayala gets a header at the far post it’s KP fault! It was a routine save by the way . BPF makes 2 saves all game, One routine, catches a few crosses and is MOM! It seems you’ve set the bar much lower for him, come BE what has KP really done that you’ll watch a game and only watch his movement, passes etc lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 10:30:35
BPF did everything well last night, some commanding catches against a big bully team so that is 10/ 10. and all saves he made well, not sure the save at the end was routine as BPF had to track the whole goal to make the save at speed due to speed of cross.

reason I watched KP all game (twice) is because I am honestly miffed about how most fans see him. I have had many in depth conversations on many sites. It seems 20% agree with me he is at worst 1/ 10 and at best 4/ 10 but our worst player. 65% fans think he is great with the rest sitting in between.

I have never known a player to devide fans so much and to such a great range (from some loving him and saying very important to me honestly can not stand him, he is that bad in my opinion) .

As a result I watched him, paused the game and wrote down everything he did (sad I know, obessive I know, if it helps I do hate myself) from watching him and analysing everything he did I made him useless last night although he did two very good things. I honestly did this to see if people agree, not to be awakard but just to see. He made two bad errors, poor success rate with forward passes (19% success when ball moved forward) he lost 98% of headers and duels (only completeing one successful dribble, one successful header (was very important header though) and one successful tackle) . these are all stats, in my opinion the game passed him by and he was nowhere offensively (as stats back up) and awful defensivley (as stats back up) and in my opinion poor (as stats back up) yet most on here said he was good last night. I am just miffed, either I am being too harsh with otehr 20% or the 65% and not really watching his game and being fooled by couple of wonder passes (he made two amazing passes) and lots of sideways passes? almost bored myself with it now, as I know I have most others on here. but I am still miffed by the KP phenonimnon.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 15:12:41
Berm KP is more of a guard or screen in front of the back 4. He's an effective defensive presence. No Batty but he's certainly improved and is facilitating our overall play.

Thought we more than matched smoggies, SKY want to screen all our games but their pundits love to knock us.

Cooper was a liability last season and after a couple of steady shifts this term he’s reverted back to the Sunday league player he is. He needs to be gone in January.

We”re still top of the league, awesome! ⚽️🤘🏻🍻 🥁

im not sure Bielsa likes coops and others like that or just stuck with them. people say managers keep picking them but pickings are slim. let's be honest all of our good midfield players have been brought and people linked with pontus, it is not suproise coops is being picked as no one will buy him and we don't have much else?

Very interesting first half! BPF, Kal and Roofe (for work rate) stood out. Bailey doing a good job commanding his area. We are dominating in the main, but as expected, is close as Boro are a well drilled side. The contrast in style is massive; I know which gaffer I prefer to have! Berra bossing the cheat Ayala at set pieces, which cracks me up! There's a foot in height difference!

31 Aug 2018 22:18:30
Spot on Bright, all match reviews have Bailet as man of match and Kal as second or third best player on pitch, that's the game i saw as well. Though Ayling, Alioski and Saiz were poor tonight but you got to give Pulis some credit he came to bully us and some did not like it. Will take the point though as long as we hammer them at theirs.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 22:43:40
i did watch and enjoy and sorry you no longer like my posts but we are here to discuss leeds, could of picked holes in few players (thats what fans do) just miffed at your love of KP? even my wife slated him as she is well. my wife she has given him nickname the crab, not mobile useless in air and can only pass sideways.

come on wex you know me better than that, i'm like a dog with a bone.

in all honesty i can't believe people are praising him, like honestly don't get it at all. watched it tonight with six people all said he was t'ss. mind you i was match of the day pausing the game and explaining why which made the game longer and far less fun for all

I invite all round to mine in south east london love to watch the game wth KP fans as I must be missing something but not sure what it is?

I am not angry or annoyed (I would have not right to be) just genuniley confused how people don't think he is one of our worst players.

31 Aug 2018 20:39:24
right after my Phillips watch stat-o-meter thought i would give general post

beradi has been immesse best performance I have seen from him, man of the match so far. Cooper found wanting a lost and could of cost us

looking kind of solid against best team in league and pleased so far but worrying how alisoki and saiz are out of the game. harrision bit poor in my opinion, still not bad and could be a lot worse (last year they slaughtered us with bamfored hat trick)

hello all everyones fav opta stat man here.

expecting the hey BW how was phillips posts so thought I would get in first. His best game I have seen of him in ages. still poor

here are the statsm (for those who like stats)

7 successful sideways passes
2 successful forward passes (one was very good pass)
4 unsucessful forward passes
1 great headed clearance
4 lost headed duels
1 successful dribble
5 lost duels (players run around him)
1 successful tackle
1 poor cross
3 fouls (gave away frist foul before he touched ball! )
2 awful mis controls both costing shots on our goal
3 lost markers

so there is the official Bermostats. what they don't show is how often the play passes him by

Bw official opinion. what I have said for ages, too slow not mobile enough, most passes are sideways (hence good stats) not good enough for leeds. bet at least five people say Phillips played well. watch back first half he didn't the starts don't lie.

Sorry Bermo, he was excellent, and was up and down the pitch, keeps things fairly simple, which is probs what he's been told to do. Strong in challenges, sold a hospital pass which made him look bad, but one of the best on the park again in the first half.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 21:40:51
sorry bright you have an opinion but it is wrong, all of their chances come from him being slow and behind the game. we will have to agree to disagree but he is just poor, not sure what you thougt was execltent look at the stats.

dont mind difference of opinion, i have given reasons and stats as to why he is useless, you can ignore me or start a debate but when i ask questions to just laugh is bit insluting. either ignore or talk. what did KP do that was good? how did he cover the ground?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2018 22:46:53
Bermo humour me, what were the stats for Clayton, he was named man of the match! I’ve no idea what they are, but I’d guess they weren’t much different then Phillips! Plus I bet Phillips covered more ground and was involved a lot more! That’s not me seeing stats, just a blind guess . Phillips ain’t Kanye or Fernandinho, but he is vital to what we are doing and will not get the credit he deserves . In my humble opinion, he is the most important cog in our well oiled machine and I think Bielsa feels the same way as he has played every game this season and bar one poor performance has been excellent . The most improved player at LUFC, bar BPF, me thinks . MOT.

sorry rag bermostats can only stick to one player, KP only made one successful tackle in 95 mins, pretty sure claton made more, not sure about successful passing but bet if you don't include sideways passing calton was proabby stronger, for me Baeradi was MOTM not claton think it was harsh on bera not to get it.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Sep 2018 00:25:36
also phillips had 70% less touches of the ball to claton but that is not bermo stats so could well be wrong. as for covering the pitch. watch it back he covers very little ground and bet he covers less that most of our players outside of Cb and keeper.

01 Sep 2018 12:35:11
You got a "LOL" Bermo, as I just won't bite at a jibe that says my "opinion is wrong". Factually, opinions are not wrong, because by definition they are not based on facts or knowledge, just a view based on feelings. Opinions are there to agree or disagree with. We just disagree. That is all.

I would also take the draw as this will be the toughest game yet. But saying that I also thought that about Derby away before that match, would love the same type of result and another 3 points for us Leeds boys!

Easy win for me.

Aus, no easy games mate in this league. I do think we have a better team this time from last season when we beat them 2-1, t they have also strengthened and Pulls will have them set up well. expecting a big crowd behind us tonight so hopefully we will run out winners 2-1.

I’ve got a feeling about 2-1 as well! About time Saiz got a goal, do his confidence a world of good, so I’ll have him to, open the scoring.

But I think tonight, almost more important is that we show that Tuesday was nothing to do with the first team and get back to the kind of play we’ve shown so far.

As the crow flies, I'm probably about 4 miles away from ER. I'm going a tough and tight first half but in the end we'll grind them down to a 2-0 win.

Well I'm surprised to say this and although my wallet is 50 quid lighter, I'm now the proud owner of the away strip! And I have to say it looks a lot better on than it does in the photos! Might give a debut tonight at the game! Come on Leeds, a tough game, is to squeak it 2-1!

Surprised the black one didn’t get a longer run. I loved it. Don’t care what strip they wear Spanish, as long as they keep winning. Enjoy the game.

I'm with you Flying! Loved that black kit!

I agree with you both about the black kit and serious point, not sure we should be changing both kits each year. Not fair on families. Each kit should do a 2 year minimum with a new kit each year, alternating the home and away. It’s a lot of money!

{Ed025's Note - i agree spanish, but all clubs seem to like screwing the supporters for as much as possible these days mate..

very true spanish but every team does it, if any club don't they will fall behind money wise and that affects squads, I think Fa should put rule in place only one kit can change per season so each shirt lasts two years but then that will cost money so no chance that will happen.

Totally agree with that Bermo, and was writing the exact same thing, but thought "nah, it'd never happen", so deleted my post!

100% Spanish! It was bad enough when they alternated kit changes, home or away, every two years. Ed, and you are right; it screws fans over, and it's out of order on top of ticket prices.

{Ed025's Note - its so hard BW especially for families with low income and in these times of austerity, it would be nice if the clubs took the fans into consideration and not change kits so often, my idea would be that a club should have one shirt in its locker that never changes so that supporters could wear it for a number of seasons but not feel out of touch, but its all about the money these days so not very likely mate..
