Does anybody thing that we'd be foolish to bring in a winger? We have none in our current squad which means we'd need to change to a system which uses wingers, we'd then need 3 or 4 to cover for injuries . I'd say we need a CB, CM and ST before we think about adding wingers to the shopping list.

Wingers give options. We have the lad from Southampton and buying another would provide a potential wider option of play. I still think Byram could be moulded into the Winger position too so once we have a quality Winger on our books we can start to explore these options further.
Or we could buy 2

The addition of wingers would only require a slight change to the tactical formation. Instead of playing a 5-3-2 system you simply ask the wingers to push on to create a 3-5-2 system. With this formation you can have a defensive midfielder supporting the back three

We've been lacking width, and a creative player since the departures of Snodgrass and Gradel, and it does give the manager different options to change games, Although I must agree that we do need another striker with natural ability, Smith puts in a good shift and can be a handful for defenders but we'll never get 20 goals a season out of him.

We are one dimensional at the moment. We need width. At the moment we are playing no different to Warnocks style of play apart from we have a better defence. We need a plan B and having wingers will do the job.

Mmm no of course not. We are 7th and taken 6 points from 15.if we want to go up that has to improve massively.
Better players and diff options the way.shrew leeds

We need a quality winger. A quality centre forward ( Smith is okay against certain teams but the better teams easily deal with him and his first touch is poor) and a quality creative midfielder. MOT

Original Poster Here.
My point is that we're 7th using our current 532 system, it clearly works, do we really want to have to change the system in the middle of a campaign, it could be a disaster.
If we get someone in to chip in with goals from midfield and another striker plus a player to cover the 3 cb's I think we'll make the playoffs.

The Mirror are saying Wigan are after John Guidetti on loan. That's who we should be going after, not Wells or Becchio.

The four players I would realistically like are dorrans Rowe Stewart and long

Shane Long, I thought you were being realistic! He is playing for West Brom 1st team and Hull were prepared to buy him in the last transfer window
Agree0
Disagree0
He's not a regular he's behind berinho anelka anichebe and sessegnon and if the money's available I think he would pick us above hull with mcdermot and the fact he's a leeds fan
Agree0
Disagree0
Hull are prepared to spend £6.5 million on Long, how much money do you think we will have to invest in the Jan transfer window? I will give you a clue, less than £6.5 million. Even if we did have £6.5 million I feel it would be better invested bringing in 3 to 4 players.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes long has no chance of coming to leeds. And he's not behind other strikers he's injured.
Yes like himbut as other poster said he could go for 5 to 6 mill and we won't have that. Shrew leeds

Forrest are favret to sign him 4 3-4 mil hull lost interest when he turned them down and are now looking at fletcher and samaras think we could go for it never said we would but nice to dream

I see that our last manager has been up to his attention seeking obsession again?
He claims that all BMcD has to do is put the icing on the cake after his his stint at our club in terms of players brought in and how he good a job he'd done.
BMcD simply said " I'm not sure that's correct"
"We had work to do to keep the team in the league but everyone is going in the right direction now and we're seventh".
Can you believe Warnock?
Happy New Year

Warncock is a tool, can't stand the man. I hope he gets the Millwall job & takes them down - made for each other.

He said that at the end of last season too. He honestly believed he left us in a better state than he found us. "Oh Brian McDermott" has taken an average bunch of players (Minus a couple) and made us a force. Similar to Old Bacon Face did for the past couple of seasons.

According to our former manager, BMcD only needs to put the icing on the cake after his good work at ER. Read BMcD response http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25553498
it's very illuminating on lots of levels. Especially NW's opinion of himself FFS!
