Do you get the feeling that the Peterboro chairman is a bit miffed that we didn't give him £6M for Marriot? He's been spouting off about Roberts being "ok but not sure he's ready for the championship" and Marriot obviously is ?

Just the POSH boys using Leeds to try and talk up their player and transfer fee. Nobody in the world thought he was good enough for the money they were quoting. Hence nobody bought him. End of !

Cant help thinking Radz and Co have given up on this season and are planning for next (or the next after that) Another disappointing transfer window for me - considering our center half situation i'm amazed we havnt gone in for one and notice we have signed another youngster from forest green, a 17 year old, lack of ambition, TC out of his depth, but still, i'm getting used to it now

31 Jan 2018 22:59:16
Half agree and half disagree, we desperately needed a left back and forward, got both, also needed a centre midfielder as I don't think whatever combo we have used there this season has dominated the opposition too often. the centre back position has only become desperate since shaunnesy got injured last night, Pennington day before hull game, and now Pontus being 1 game away from 2 game suspension, which didn't leave us much time to get a decent centre back in on loan or to buy.

Good post Speedy and definitely a point well made, Grabbon a big miss for me as is Madine, in my opinion regardless of where we are we should of gone for him, maybe we would of if we were sat 2nd or 3rd! I was also hoping to get Bartley from Swansea, we should of tried a lot harder to sign him permanently in the summer, with him and Grabbon instead Loafasoggybread we would be right up there! Good post though mate. MOT

31 Jan 2018 22:24:07
Not a great transfer window, not invested enough into first team and think we may drift away from playoffs. I concerned that in the summer our best players will be taken (siaz, jansson and veiria) . I would let TC go now and try for Marco silver, give him rest of season to get to know leeds squad and then 20-30mil in summer to make his team.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

31 Jan 2018 22:36:08
Slight problem with. don't think for a minute we will spend 20-30 mil, and if said 'head coach' came in, he wouldn't have any say in transfers, that's not how it's going to work at our club (unfortunately) . that's victors job. if it doesn't work the head coach is accountable and will get the sack, whilst victor will sit comfortably in a stand we have never heard of watching a player we have to google on YouTube looking for a bargain.

01 Feb 2018 08:45:23
Didn’t we get about 25 mil for woods, Taylor and Bridcutt. Think we only spent about 6-8 mil on in comings. I think silver would be a great coach, but like u said, buying is down to Orta?

Aston Villa have signed Lewis Grabbon on loan for the rest of the season! Well for me it’s Wolves and Villa for the automatic promotion places, Villa third with a bloody good team and they strengthen with a great striker in my opinion that shows intent, I’m struggling to see who we would replace in the play off spots! Derby strong, Cardiff strong, Fulham on a good solid run and I think one from Bristol City, Sheffield Utd, Middlesbrough and hopefully Leeds United! But what do I know, I predicted Chelsea to beat Bournemouth 3-0 and it went the other way! MOT

Comment from TC on the Hull match in The Express. I am satisfied with the courage all the players showed during the 95 minutes and they deserved to go away with a clean sheet and take one point. Really? Hull were poor by all accounts and Leeds only got the point due to keeper saves and rubbish finishing by their players. Not good enough TC and as delusional as always. IMO.

Here we feckin go. The fickle fans are out. Not sure what TC could have done any different last night with the players at his disposal. We have arguable our best players suspended or injured (Saiz, Cooper (captain before anyone slates him) , Ayling, O'Kane, Pennington) . Hull were in our faces last night and had to fight. Sometimes the players have to take responsibility. Viera and others were poor last night, so was this TC's fault? Let's not forget we are only four points off the play offs ffs. Why don't you two little rays of sunshine judge the bloke at the end of the season and not when there's over a third of it left? MM

Hopefully young Roberts is such a talent, he’s going to be cast under the ‘ready now’ bracket. Still we could get Gary Madine from Bolton for a very reasonable (Orta range) fee and he would make as much of an impact as a Hugil for a fraction of the cost. Given the time I’d look at loans too CB Bartley and either Goodson or Hunnemeir from Brighton both very good players. Midfield James Milner (well it’s a change from asking for Beckford) Oh and I think when we were flying at the start of the season we were getting great service from Ayling until he went off form (very near to signing his new long term deal, pure coincidence) well anyway. Apparently West Ham have a promising right back err Sam. Sam Byram anybody?

Think we all view Orta as the villain of the piece, though I would be sure he does not make all the decisions on his own. Do they see all the development players brought in as future Premier League stars? When at the moment these new players cannot even get a game with us in the Championship and we still have some gaps to fill in the squad even if we had a fully fit squad. Think the summer window will really indicate Rads ambition

Cam anyone really tell me they wouldn't have taken these signings at the start of january? De bock looks a solid addition at left back, forshaw for 4.5mil looks a good deal, and a new striker for a couple of million. I agree that hugil would have been a good signing, but at 10 mil? Really? The boy Roberts comes very highly rated. How much better service is he going to get from the likes or hernandez and saiz, a quick striker with an eye for goal is exactly what we were crying out for to give us another dimensions. I really can't complain about these signings. Come on let's get behind the team.

I am not (yet) on the TC OUT bandwagon I think the problem is with Orta and his team. I think even TC is getting frustrated, hence his "ask Victor" answers recently. You can be the best salesman in Harrods but if your buyer sources his supplies from the market how can you sell them. No matter how good you are - you can't polish a t***. This, maybe is a failing of the continental coach and recruiter system. It's followed abroad but as soon a manager gets here he demands, quite rightly, the last word. You can't even judge TC on the first season of "his team" when in truth it isn't his team it's Ortas.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2018 11:30:32
How can you ever judge TC then as it will never be his team ? I prefer to judge TC on his tactics, substitutions and ridiculous defending of ill disciplined players getting sent off.

Agree8 Disagree3

31 Jan 2018 11:56:49
The worst signing in the past 12 months is without doubt Orta, his insistance of bringing in bucket loads of kids is ruining our chances of a top 6 spot kids who haven't even improved the under 23s, even before the suspensions and injuries we were struggling the millions wasted on the young uns could have strengthened the first team TC obviously talked the talk to get the job but a club the stature of Leeds needs a manager who can get the best out of players surely Radz aim of minimum top 6 is now looking unlikely when all fit we look like a good side need a good manager to get the best out of them another wsted season I fear

31 Jan 2018 12:00:22

31 Jan 2018 14:30:48
The manager is RESPONSIBLE for tactics etc etc. TC IS responsible. does he wear big boy pants? Does he get paid a fantastic salary? Is he feathering his nest for the future? Does every fan know what the manager does with regard to stamping his authority on the team? Would you say the likes of Mourinho and Guardiola have no backbone? Enough of this "give TC a chance" crap! Wake up and smell the coffee!

Agree2 Disagree2

31 Jan 2018 14:59:24
Does TC tell Saiz to spit at his opponent, tell O’Kane to head butt an opponent or Cooper to make stupid challenges? The guy is hamstrung for choice in the first team at moment and hence the results are predictably bad. I agree TC leaves a lot to be desired but the players haven’t helped him neither have Orta and the recruitment team. The first team squad is lacking in numbers and quality and this should have been addressed in this window not more additions for the future. The blame lies with Orta. I’m happy with De Bock, Forshaw and Roberts but we need more. Until we have our full squad available, minus Ayling of course, wins will be very difficult. TC ishojld not shoulder most of the blame!

With everyone's attention on the transfer window closing and whether our January has been good or bad and if VO is a scouting genius or someone who wouldn't know a Messi from a Brolin we seem to have forgotten that football wise our displays are in the main very poor. When was the last time we dominated a game ? Burton at home, then you will struggle to think of another. TC has now had plenty of time to work with the players, stamp his style of play on the team and as important get to know the players. We are an ill disciplined, mid table championship side with to many inconsistent performers and performances. I like TC but he had a weeks warm weather training extolling the virtues of double sessions etc, he knew who was and wasn't available and yet the performance was dire and uninspiring. For me now the clock is ticking regarding his tenure, we won't make the top 6 and that is obviously disappointing but in all honesty would you want to see this squad in the premiership.

Good post Willthewhite, totally agree fella we would slide straight back down with current squad and tbh the new u23 players probably won't be ready for 2 or 3 years so mid table mediocrity looks set for a few more years yet unfortunately unless they get rid of VO and possibly TC and bring a manager who knows what it takes to get out of the championship by choosing the right players for the job, like a few others on here I have my doubts about our coach, again another likable guy but struggling to get the best out of the players and short on tactical awareness but like I said in my initial point Orta has to be accountable for that, frustrating times ahead IMO, MOT brothers 😎

Looking at Robert's goals to games ratio, I fear that we might regret not having spent a bit more on Marriott or someone with a similar goals record. I hope I am wrong.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2018 12:42:03
couldnt disagree more, marriott is good, but has he ever played for national team? is there more competition in england national team, yes, but roberts is making it for wales, there's clearly a lot of talent there and imo it might just be a club like leeds who unlock it.

This lad reminds me a lot of scott sinclair, he was unheard of, broke through, then was pivotal in swanseas promotion in about 2011/12. can see roberts being very similar, young, exciting, lots of pace and a good finisher. We have a quick striker in ekuban, but he can't finish and is injured. we have a quick winger in roofe, who for some reason gets time up front.

i think given the chance alioski would have scored the same amount as roofe this season had he played as a number 10 and a number 9. we have a slow striker who can finish in pml, but one thing we haven't tried is quick and clinical, it might just be the answer, and i get the impression he is going to fit under janssons wing just nicely. for a young lad, he's got something about him i really like, his goals to game may not be great, but has he had service from players like samu and hernandez before?

if we sign him, january has been a huge success in a way of transfers imo, then, back to reality and back to football where he can go and batter cardiff on saturday and send them back to wales miserable.

Is there anywhere berardi can't play? First of all well done dallas, while he's more a left winger, he struggled a bit at right back, but i suppose you would given its the complete opposite position. Could have brought on anita, shows the pecking order i suppose, though i think anita will start against cardiff. unfortunately i had to stand in the hull end as i'm from hull and all my mates wanted to go, but first half i was right infront of the goal and wiedwald had a great game between the sticks, finally starting to command his defence, and some quick reaction saves too. 10 clean sheets in 21 games is not bad at all. obviously this is down to a good defence at some points but still. Honest opinions, de bock and forshaw look like 2 great signings, forshaw reminded me of ryan woods, from brenford, and against the less scrappy teams and the derbies, i'm sure he'll be able to play some good football, a few pin point pings across the pitch, and de bock made that left back role look easy, didn't mind getting around hernandez either. those two were classy last night. Vieira was good, jansson solid as ever, i thought roofe had a poor game and was very quiet, did little on the ball, alioski wasnt too bad either i suppose, and lassoga, back to his usual i guess a quiet 90 minutes. hopefully this roberts is stronger than roofe and can lead the line. hopeful but possible. Genuinely think berardi could give coops a run for his money at CB, though he's very small. With all players fit, or not suspended, it will be a strong side and a good bench too. I am not worried about the season, though i think we'll finish 7th again, but, MOT.

I agree with this but also agree with some of the guys who have made comments below in not so positive a manor, to say that Pennington was injured day before game, 6 minutes in and shaughnessy is replaced, our right back had to play CB for pretty much the whole game and a winger had to play RB, we had cooper, okane, Saiz all suspended, Ekuban and Ayling both injured I don’t think coming away from home all in all is a bad result especially with a clean sheet with that make shift defence. On the other hand going forward we look very light and weak, we don’t seem to be able to consistently score goals or have a threat when needed, I like Roofe he’s a young lad who really wants to succeed and give his best but he just has no consistency, Lasogga has one good game and 4/5 poor ones which we can’t afford with our run of games now. Hopefully this Roberts hits the ground running and shows why we have paid a few million for him but as I mentioned on an earlier post he wasn’t great in a lower league so here’s to hoping. I said a while back that the next 8 games (last nights with Hull included) we would struggle for 6 points if we didn’t start scoring goals frequently in games so let’s hope we start finding the net in a few more games instead of seeing a 0-0 or a 0-1 loss.
