The Leeds youth will take us further than people think this year Dawson who IMO will play against Brighton, On the right side off the diamond is going to be a top player Zac looks a good player Alex m looks a v good player he will come though this year give them a chance. Instead off buy this buy that player It always been our way why change, and now it looks like we won't sell the young lads to the first club who offers a pearl diver.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'll be quite happy to see us play more of the youngsters and give them the experience they need to play at this level.

I'm not one for moaning and been negative but I'm a bit frustrated that we've only signed 3 players when you look at what players have been available and where they have gone, I get the fact money is tight apparently and the wage structure etc etc but surely we could have competed. Some examples: Lewis mcgugan (Watford, free) Eric lichaj (forest, free), Scott McDonald (millwall, free) James Vaughan (Huddersfield 1m) Harry forrester (donny) Alex baptiste (Bolton, free) matt killgallon (Blackburn, free) just to name a few, there loads more. I have faith in McDermott and will always be behind the lads starting Saturday, just my opinion. JIM_LUFC

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fans need to realise no player is for free they always want a signing on fee and of course want there wages and don't forget the agents always something in it for them in brian we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

Ppl also forget leeds ain't no longer a team to want to join. our team is a mess everywhere and good players want other good team mates and i'm sorry but all we have is mccormack, murphy, byram and lees the rest r a joke in particular austin and his constant non teamplay

I really don't get how the first time we get a great crowd that there are still so called fans having a pop about the club talk about peeing on your strawberries why not do something positive and just turn up and support the boys

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well done Phil. Keep your head held high. We're going up this year!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully the crowds will keep coming. The past couple of seasons the fans have voted with their feet. I'll be there week in week out and hopefully not moaning too much this season. Brian McD is just starting and a top ten finish this season will probably do me after last season. Hopefully then we lose some of the dross Colin got on two year contracts and we can really push for promotion next season. Of course I'd like us to go up this year and as White tinted as my glasses are, I'm not pinning my hopes on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sick to death of reading so called Leeds fans negative comments. Always glass half empty. Instead of thinking what's wrong with the club, start thinking about what's right and what changes have been made this summer. Rome wasnt built in a day and neither will we be. Get behind the club and the team and start thinking posotive instead of being negative all the time.

I have been to most of the preseason games and unless we buy 2 wingers ad a centre back we will be fighting relegation. 28,000 for the first game, watch the numbers fall away. GFH are not back BMD, but they want us to invest. The chair as interview on LUTV is totall crap and if they are keen about getting in touch with the fans. It's easy, strengthen the squad. I'm sure you understand how to run a business, but you know nothing about football. There is no transpeancy between club and fans, look back at the promises you have made, in my option your have purchased leeds but have no money to take us to the next level. You believe we can move forward using assets we have on the field. Wake up!. The squad value is low, excluding SB. By Christmas their value be decress. The truth is Leeds are a mid to low table table side. This is going to be a very long season and as much as I love my club, I am very worried for the forth coming season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mid Table mediocrity at very best. Relegation struggle a distinct possibility. Anyone know where Papa Smurf is these days while he's still counting our money. I feel for BMcD. Like Warnock last season he will never have encountered such a devious old you know what. BMcD, unfortunately will be gone before the end of the season. Hope I'm wrong but I won't be!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree to an extent. No way we will get relegated but need 3 or 4 bits of quality to stand any chance of going up.
I am worried though like yourself that if we don't get a decent start the good work of getting 30k plus fans back in the ground would def drop away.
I know people coming back again for a fresh start but only buying tickets game to game.
They will def stop if the football is decent and we get some good results and gfh try to get us up. shrew leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that more signings are needed but I feel confident we have good people with sensible business sense now finally taking the club forward

Agree0 Disagree0

Hang on, on what basis are you claiming we are going to fight for relegation?

We weren't fighting for relegation last year (we just ran out of steam at the end of the season) and in fact were 2 wins away from a playoff spot for most of it, we only ended up 7 points off at the end. To that I add, that we have added to the squad. Apart from Becchio leaving this team looks better than last years and all we need is for someone to step up and score some goals. or 2 to share the spoils.

So how are we going to be figthing for relegation? I do agree that we are a mid table team, but mid to playoff not bottom.

And I don't care about the transparancy. What do we want, a board that wil say "we have 6mil in the bank, and pushing for more investment, so all the teams out there that we are buying from, please up your fees. "

We have no money, clear and trasparent. BMD has to move people on before signing more clear and transparent. We are looking at more in vestment, clear and transparanmet. Wait, this sounds like most teams in the prem and cc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think we will be in a relegation battle. Brian McD will get us playing football and hopefully the new signings can push us on a little. As for promotion, Hmmm. Play offs at the very best, but remember it's McD's first season.

Who do you think will finish in the top 6 this coming season in the championship?
I predict, in no particular order:
Notts F
Leicester
Watford
Reading
Bolton
Blackburn.
Obviously I would seriously love Leeds to finish top 6 but without a couple more signings unfortunately I can't see it. 2014/15 season will be our season.
In McD & GFH I trust. MOT

Why is that anything to us? You'll never guess which company ol' papa smurf was sacked for doing business with.

I think the Chairman interview pretty much tells us everything about the season coming. He said its going to be challenging, Leeds must be a sustainable business model, and the team need to be seen to be continually improving, which will be invested in, in the short and long term.
So basically BMcD needs to show that his team is better than last seasons, investment will happen depending on the teams success and any other investment, and by using the clubs youth policy.
A challenging season means we are where we are. let's see what happens.
Heres hoping we are all in it together, and the players show some heart and balls in the white shirt. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's to say the players we have aren't capable? If BMD has the balls to blood a few young 'uns and the rest of them roll there sleeves up who knows. In Murphy we have a gem, Hunt might be a revelation in this league and Smith could be real handful. I'm quietly optimistic. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Every season is a challenge. I thought the interview was very good and a vast improvement on the bates b******* we have been subjected to in the past

Agree0 Disagree0

Investment will be made if we do well. Surely investment in the squad would increase the chances of the team doing well, which will bring the fans back, which will increase the revenue. If GFH really do have their man in Brian McD, then why don't they back him where it matters?

Agree0 Disagree0

new chairman on lutv

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a ridiculous uneducated rant that first post was.

GFH have removed Bates completely as all fans wanted : Not enough for you!
Paid 1 Mill for a player and brought 2 more in on free : Not enough for you!
Rengaged with the 2 fan groups, reduced pricing : Not enough for you!
BBC back - Strongbow Heineken back on board : Not enough for you!
Pumped money in to cover cost of Bates mortgaging off ticket sales: Not enough for you.
Christ they have turned us around in 8 months and are restoring pride day on day everything they have said they would do they have.

You would only be too happy for us to do another Ridsdale and buy success on no foundation of course you would because you again would have genuine reason to whine and stay away again, please don't include me your typical fan comment.

East Meath White a true fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is this reply to?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 16:14:48
Hey Salah Nooruddin,
You said in your interview on the club site that your main objective is to realign yourself with the fans and listen to what they have to say. Well I am assuming you or one of your interns is checking this. That would be a logical and easy way to get a grip on the thoughts and opinions of leeds fans as a whole. Well here goes - your interview is rubbish. Stop talking crap - skirting round the main issue - that you don't want / have money to spend - and find and give Brian some money to spend on at least one decent centre back (and -at a push - some kind of speedy winger). because if you dont, we might not be in the championship next season and you are going to have wasted a **** load of money already. Yours, I reckon, a typical Leeds United fan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give gfh a chance for god sake what is it with fans like you its going to take time to build this club back up don't you realise bates left us in a state took loans out everywhere they have already done more than bates did in 8 and a half years time to start getting behind these owners that goes for all the moaners out there

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 18:28:56
I would argue the typical Leeds fan comment. that is a pointless and ridiculous outburst. Give people a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with 1st reply!

Agree0 Disagree0

How many times have Leeds fans been told to be patient? 'Not this year but a big push next year'. Agree with original post. And yes I'm cynical (but through experience).

Agree0 Disagree0

Let none of us be under any illusion, the re-engagement policy is purely a sales strategy that will get Johnny punter through the turnstiles and buying product. The name of the game is profit. GFH have speculated that a very healthy return is possible in a relatively short period.

. good if it works though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I thought it was quite a good interview. He talked about re-engaging with fans, the importance of the academy and building a sustainable business (which let's face it football has become). Success isn't going to happen overnight, and I agree that GFH are not the wealthiest backers that a number of people were hoping for. However, I find it reassuring that they are not adopting a 'boom-and-bust' approach and, from what thay have said, that they appear to be in this for the long haul.

Agree0 Disagree0

Most the fans that are moaning will be the same that used Bates as an excuse to stay away from ER and are now looking for another excuse not to come

Agree0 Disagree0

"How many times have Leeds fans been told to be patient? 'Not this year but a big push next year'. Agree with original post. And yes I'm cynical (but through experience). "

So how many times have you supported Leeds with BMD in charge, GFH the owners and three new players in the squad at the start of a season? What experience?

FFS have a bit of patience!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just have patience.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a good interview. very positive

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates would have sold Byram. remember that

Agree0 Disagree0

We will see how patient you all are when we are clawing our way above the relegation zone. We have suspect defence and no one seems to be able to create / score goals.

West Ham bid for Snodgrass - £5m. Although Hughton says he is not for sale, I don't suppose our old Board were able to secure a sell-on clause? That would be too much to hope.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not a rumour but needing help of Leeds fans.

I don't get to travel to many matches, maybe 4 or 5 a season due to money and flights/hotel costs

When you listed to Yorkshire radio via sky it always blocked out the match day commentary when kick off happened. Will this happen with tv radio Leeds when I listen on sky. Would it play properly if I buy a DAB radio rather than use sky?

Crmd

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure what the crack will be with radio Leeds, don't know if they will have a dab channel? I know Yorkshire radio went over to dab for commentary when the match started

I know boycotting the games is usually portrayed as a bad thing and not something should be doing now. But if we would have had 27,000 every game since league 1 would bates have gone. Would all this change take place. Would bates have sold up? Sometimes boycotting works as we will hopefully see the results of but now we mustn't boycott. We should all stick together and get down to elland road as much as we can.
All I wanted to say is boycotting doesn't always have a negative impact when times are tough, and in the long run could make times better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Utter Rubish you are just trying to justify not going. There a thousands of great Leeds fans all over the country that would have loved to go but financially couldnt. Bates went because he was made an offer he liked END OF.

Agree0 Disagree0

The OP has a reasonable post here, I for one EVENTUALLYy refused to go while Bates was milking/killing the club, like thousands of others.

Maybe you would consider the fact that Bates sold because he HAD to, due to reduced income at the gates?

Sometimes you can vote with your feet, and sometimes it DOES get results.

A huge amount of people stayed away and we now have NEW owners, NEW players coming in, Reduced prices, NO radio Ken, No Shaun Harvey.

You going to tell me any of that would have happened with a packed Elland Road each game?

Whatever you feel or think, we all have a right to act in whatever way we see fit.

I could not justify continuing to pay the £100 plus it cost me to watch a home game with the smurf lining his pockets and killing the club off.

He WAS made an offer that he accepted, whether he actually LIKED it or not, or had any choice is a different matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Or. Investors were put off and we ended up having to sell Snoddy, max et al.

The point I'm making is that you can't categorically say whether it helped or hindered. You do have to accept though that we're at a low point because or it and getting back where we belong will take some time. I do feel we are heading in the right direction though. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion if you chose 2 boycott then you should b ashamed of yourself, true fans stick with there team in good and bad times. its crazy how you think a small minority boycotting has made bates leave. all its done is show how plastic your "support" is and now things are changing you think your support is needed well sorry but all you are is an embarrassment. stay away from leeds as your not wanted fake fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had had 30,000 every game we may be in the Premiership by now.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the people that say he wouldn't have left if we got 30,000 every week I say would you have boycotted if we were winning every week, I bet your 100 pound cost wouldn't have mattered then. The main reason the gates dropped wasnt boycotts, it was we were s***.
Cost is a big thing to people, but its funny when big games like Arsenal ect come around they can always find the money, the ground is full and Bates was still there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Boycotting helped him sell our best players so he didn't lose out, so I don't understand how its a good thing ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

What aload of tosh if you live close to elland road then get yourself down to the ground saturday and help fill the ground let's all sing for leeds united

Agree0 Disagree0

True Leeds fans wouldn't even consider boycotting. If you have the ability to get to & pay for the game, you go. Simple. Leeds is in my blood and I couldn't bring myself to stay away from the ground while my beloved Whites were playing. I have to support them!

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster is right. Tough love. Bates would still be here if it didn't seem like people were refusing to go to games because of his actions and cottoning on to his ways. You weren't lining the clubs pockets by attending, you were lining his. Supporting the club (and hence getting rid of Bates) and its future meant staying away. Ironic but true. We are at the bottom of a hill right now but with him gone, it WILL get better.

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing that so called fans who boycotted games are forgetting is that fan is short for fanatic as in would attend no matter what and supporter means to support. The lack of support has cost Leeds badly. More people there, easier to keep better players and sell club surely. So the boycott may have meant Bates stayed for longer. Just move on and stop trying to justify not going. I have seen worse teams than Bates tenure believe me.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Cost is a big thing to people, but its funny when big games like Arsenal ect come around they can always find the money, the ground is full and Bates was still there. "

Well I wasn't, because Bates WAS still here, Arsenal or not.

I think gfh spout on about the city of Leeds been united, what about us poor sods who travel 100s of miles every home game do we not matter, how are we supposed to get radio Leeds, oh sorry the 3 or 4 home games I miss am I supposed to subscribe to lutv to receive commentary, anyone can jump out of bed at 12. 30 on a sat and get to billys bar for 1. 30 and call yourself united were the real fans that make this club united, think on gfh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Radio Leeds free online mate, put your brain in gear before a rant lol
But you are right our loyal fans are some of the best in this country, whether in Leeds or Torquay

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive been going to ER since the mid 80's and I've been a season ticket holder for many years. I've seen the highs and low's.
But cause I live less than 3'miles away i'm not a real fan like you who travel a lot more miles? what a stupid statement to make.
im lucky enough to live nearer than you that's all! and i'm lucky enough to have a decent job that allows me to afford to watch my beloved Leeds utd.

Agree0 Disagree0

"Radio Leeds free online mate"

It might be, but it doesn't broadcast live commentaries online, or at least didn't when I tried that route.

Agree0 Disagree0

"But cause I live less than 3'miles away i'm not a real fan like you who travel a lot more miles? what a stupid statement to make. "

Actually it isn't that stupid. I too live more than 100 miles from the club, and a trip there and back takes a lot of planning and forethought, as well as money.

Would you still be ABLE to go every week if it cost you around £100 to do so and entailled around 12 or more hours of your time to do so?

We are ALL supporters, but the OP is right, GFH should acknowledge the fanbase UK (and world) wide!

Agree0 Disagree0

God it sounds like it arguing over who is the biggest fans! Wether some are close or far away, can or can't afford it, we all support Leeds and that's what matters, don't fall out between our selfs, be UNITED! {Ed013's Note - Well said}

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason they want the city of Leeds to be united is fairly obvious. The clue is in the name of the club - Leeds United. The majority of the fans that go to the games will be local, you do get a few thousand that travel some distance to go. They aren't saying that because you aren't living in and around Leeds that you can't be united in your support of the club they are just aiming it at the local and largest section of fans. Its to get the people of Leeds back behind the club instead of when Bates was in charge and a lot of people were avoiding Elland Road due to Bates.
