Apparently we are looking at a Lyon midfielder according to Phil Hay and Joe Rawson on Twitter. I'm hoping it's Rachid Ghezzal as he is another Mahrez, but I think he's far too good for the Championship.

04 Aug 2016 06:55:02
maybe but then Mahrez did play in the championship and he is maybe too good for the prem league.

Quote:

"Leeds fans have been told they will not be able to buy alcohol in the club’s first game of the season.

The Lillywhites face Queens Park Rangers in their Championship opener on Sunday at Loftus Road but away fans will be prevented from purchasing alcoholic drinks inside the away end"

Who the hell are 'the lillywhites'?

Total crap reporting, just hope the bars in the away end will be closed when QPR visit Elland Road, and all surrounding pubs refuse to serve their fans.

I thought the "Lillywhites" were Preston.

lillywhite mean coward don't it? like in old English. I am pretty sure my great great great granddad use to call my great great great nan a lillywhite before hitting her as you were allowed to hit woman back then. look at me getting all nostalgic.

also have a bermondsey tip for me as I am proper scum. When traving on train on way out or going to park, zoo, church or any public place where you can not drink just stick some brandy/ scotch in a coke bottle with coke. you are drinking and they don't know it, beating the establishment. you are welcome!

anyway i'm in home stand so will raise a glass to the away and be drinking for all of you.

thats because you ain't a proper cockney geezer like me I can sneak anything into or out of anywhere I even managed to sneak my mrs out of her size 0 into a comfortable size 10 plus some. my mate does better me he stole a penguin from a zoo kept it for three days realised it stunk and got boring after a while (i think he thought it would dance like in mary poppins) and then gave it back.

I see Luke Garbutt not given a squad number at Everton, worth a shout to replace Charlie Taylor?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

i really like luke think he is a good player and as a leeds boy when in champions league he will count as a home club grown player so double bonus.

If it's true that Bridcutt deal is on the verge of happening then that's very good news imo.

Sure is. If it happens, this is definitely a George transfer. Everyone know how highly I rate him.

03 Aug 2016 15:14:19
We know what were getting, interesting was at first I don't think he was to keen to play for Leeds, however once here and the fans reacting to his performances I believe he wanted to return .
Just a quality c/ h now and I think we our ready, still don't think we will be top six .
Newcastle Norwich brigton wednes derby villa and I would love to be wrong!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 16:10:01
With 2 or 3 more to come in of the calibre mentioned i. e Hobbs, Bridcutt, with Rico Henry to replace Taylor if he goes and maybe another striker. With a little time to gel we should fear no one in this league . When we played well last season, none of the other teams were loads better than us and we have made big big improvements to our squad . It would be top 6 minimum for me . Those teams relegated are relegated for a reason . The best in our league from last season Brighton Weds and Derby maybe add in an improved Ipswich under McCarthy . If we can make a good start and gel we are top six and better .

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 16:21:17
Dog

Birdcage and a quality central defender and we are top 6 all day long.

I personally see Villa falling just outside the top 6.

Assuming we acquire the necessary targets this week my top 6 is

Seagulls
Bar Codes
Wendies
Canaries
Mighty Whites
Rams.

I hope so George, one thing will help is Green in goal on corners etc, also think he will help organise the back .

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 17:09:06
dont think George is far off at all, same bridcut and good cb and we will be in the mix I think it will be similar to george but with newcastle walking it and I see seagulls having a bad year. I think last year they were far better than sum of their parts and think they will be outside top six this year

so there we go everyone put a monkey on newcaslte going down and brigton as champs.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 17:16:47
totally agree Georgie, bridcutt is the key, plus a decent cb to compliment what we've got. a good start, get er rocking because away support speaks for itself, confidence sky high and just watch us go! feeling very positive come on boys let's go!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 22:41:45
People need to look beyond the price tags and see who Newcastle have brought in. I'd only want Ritchie out of their signings. They got relegated for a reason and Wijnaldum and Sissoko won't be there. I can see Rafa leaving before November to a PL club or walking if things aren't going well. Derby haven't signed anyone but they've still got a good team, but what they lack is bottle. Wendies have made a quality signing in Abdi, but how will they recover from heartache? Brighton as well will struggle with last season's heartbreak. Norwich should do well as they've kept their squad and signed Pritchard. I think we've got a chance this year, it's pretty open.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Aug 2016 07:01:30
i think if newcastle lose rafa they might struggle he is very important to them. They do have a lot of quality players who were not prem but will rip up this league such as preze (if they have kept him I don't really follow scottish football)

Look out Birmingham, there's a fly tipper about. Yes, Ross McBadgekisser is on the road again. He moves around more than a pikey but leaves more mess!

I'm going for "This isn't the Fulham I fell in love" to be the first words uttered by the litter lout in his press conference, followed by kissing and slavering all over the Villa badge.

not sure this is a great signing for them, I think villa will struggle although I love the manager. he is proven at this level but apart from one good season at leeds has he done much? did he do great at fulham and more importantly will he finish above us this season? I don't think he will

kiss my A""e Mcpiky.

Scored 29 goals in 43 games last season. Will score goals in the Championship as this is his level.

03 Aug 2016 15:19:49
ross is the past I have a feeling Woods will do better this season and Roofe and ant to chip in .
lets face it we didn't any stinker really in-form and other areas were not much better .

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 15:24:23
to be fair he has scored goals at fulham and they have been poor so that takes some doing.

IMO he is a fine championship forward and recent seasons show this, will he do well at villa, odds are he will but they may well struggle and end up mid table or a bit worst. I would not bet against him scoring 20 mind.

I think we will finish above Villa and Fulham so it is all about money for him I would say.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 16:10:12
You're right DG. It's all about the money for that lad. He can't even be arsed to re-cycle!

If Taylor stays, at least until January and Bartley and Cooper make a good defensive partnership, then we are winning. Dave, Mowatt, Murphy, Grimes, Phillips all look decent in midfield. Then we have Roofe, Hernandez, the Swedish bloke, Wood, Doukara, Botaka and the other fella who's meant to be quite speedy. Not forgetting the Peacock, Coyle, Denton, Stokes and Mulhern. I'm confident. Down the pints on Sunday morning and cheer on God's team.

in his pictures he has a beard very few woman have beards (my wife the excpetion to the rule)

god invented natural things like thunder ligthning and volcano's and electricty all man inventions

very few people have heard him speak. woman love a natter

he knocked some bird up then did see the son. I think god must be Scouse

he spites people with vengance woman just tend to bitch about people in the office

periods and child birth.

Should he stay or should he go now. If he stays he will give 100 per cent on the field because that's the sort of kid he is, loves playing football. If he goes now we may get more money but who will we get in, will it all go on team? Sadly agents are in pole position. Sure its not Charlies dream to leave us to go to Burnley or West Brom. If agents of champioship players see a big money move on the horizon that's it. Hard for a young lad to say no to ttipling his wages. My lad just left college and still looking for a decent job. Thing they don't tell them is if they don't make an impact your likely to back in championship playing for Rotherham. Lucky for them, unlucky for us, most of our young ones are class players.
Not sure I am happy with the amount of players being brought in from other clubs for academy team. Hope it does not affect the younger lads in U18 and U16 from getting their chance to progress as we have some uncut diamonds there too.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Aug 2016 14:20:10
agents have a lot to answer for. they encourage players to move as soon as possible so that they can get a cut of the transfer fee regardless of whether the move is the right one for the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2016 23:17:28
I was expecting Taylor to go but Cellino seems to be standing by his original statement 'Taylor is going nowhere'. I hope he sticks by it - unless he gets a massive offer which he is prepared to invest in players. Fans seem to assume that if players have come through the academy they must be decent people. Not always the case. I don't know the ins and outs of this particular case but it is clear that Taylor wants out. I don't also know whether Cellino's comments about Taylor and his agent has caused a rift or whether Cellino's comments were borne out of genuine frustration re Taylor's (and his agents) attitude. It will be interesting to see how Taylor reacts in training, on the pitch and on twitter. If he starts swinging the lead and/ or causing unrest I hope fans react accordingly even though he's not Italian.

Idk why Massimo is so intent on keeping him. He wants to go and will not even discuss an extended contract. Pocket what you can now instead of losing him for nothing at the end of the season. He won't play his best for us anyway and is likely to upset parts of the dressing room. For me, it's a no brainer.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Aug 2016 06:51:38
George, the only reason I can think for Massimo not to sell him is to stop his agent getting any sort of payment from him? I know it denies Leeds any money from a transfer fee but if Taylor leaves on a 'free' at the end of the season Leeds WILL actually get a fee, set by a tribunal, and this could be in the millions anyway?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - his agent would still get the same cut of the fee.}

03 Aug 2016 06:53:04
Agree George!
Hope he is being stubborn as game plan to get more money! Would like 5-7 mill if poss.

Only if Taylor moves to an English club. If he moves abroad, there is no need for a tribunal and he can move for zero compensation. His agent is probably working on such a deal right now just to irritate Cellino.

I believe I've restated the position correctly. One of the Eds may no doubt let me know otherwise.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is not zero compensation if he goes abroad, it is minimal though, around the £250k mark.}

03 Aug 2016 13:27:40
