Couple of points, one which will truly throw a cat into the pigeons.
1- thought Bielsa came across fantastically in his his first presser. He has a philosophy, and principles that he will stick to. Love the guy already!
2- Orta in that documentary, came across very well, and I get the sense he has a real passion for our club. He's worked to a brief, but has bought into the fans, our own love for the club. He can only do what he is allowed to do.

He's not exactly going to start spouting arrogance, is he wex? That would be pointless. Plus he will have been told from above how to respond to those questions.

Hi Brightwhite, hope your well to mate, it’s on one of the Leeds site pages, he’s not happy with players being sold that he would like to keep, I do hope it’s nothing to be worried about, still hope you have a good season and we all get what we hope for.
We love Leeds.

Any ideas if ekuban is on his way anywhere? Last I heard he was training with u23s and hadn't got a squad number? I'm thinking if he doesn't find a club may as well keep him on rather than bring in a replacement mbakogu who let's face it isn't going to be an improvement.

'We want to to impose our style. The idea is to play in the opponent's half. ' So says Mr. Bielsa this morning apparently. That's maybe why they're seemingly not so bothered about central defence or defensive midfield. I do hope he's right! On On On!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 Aug 2018 14:25:05
Worried that we are seemingly contemplating the return of Pennington when we have two home grown talents to fill the gap. Shaugnessy and Paudie O'Connor. Hang on, Oh yes, I forgot, somebody thought we don't need two coming through?

Pop quiz and not so subtle clue to LUFC management. Which Premier League international central defender, who has been with his current club for 8 years, has amassed almost 200 appearances playing on loan, but only 2 for his own club?

Stoke will play the likes of butland, shawcross, Eric pieters, joe Allan, benik afobe, James McLean and Tom ince . Who's out back 3 going to be? Cooper Berardi Phillips? I am actually scared we could get absolutely mullered.

Forshaw out, Jannson out, Cooper in. Many of the same players as finished last season probably in the 18 in the squad on Sunday. Fortunately Stoke are not known for scoring a lot of goals and Bielsa has been known to work miracles. On that basis I think we can keep them down to 3-1. Losing our first game at home doesn't mean the end of the season though. Jansson and Forshaw will be back and we might get some additional quality in by the end of August. Any thumbs down? We will see on Sunday evening.

Who's placing bets on top six or promotion with a depressing start. and who's up next? . Derby. High potential of no points out of 6 so bottom of the league. Thank God there'll be along way to go :-)

I honestly don’t know what will happen on Sunday, otherwise I’d be down the bookies with lots of cash! Not bad starting against two clear favourites with the expectations of Hess, Notts white clearly very low. Perhaps we might exceed their expectations. What I am keen to see is how we play, how the new players react and whether this defensive formation has a chance against one of the faves in the division. Bielsa will learn a lot about his players and the championship and we will learn a lot about the team. But come on let’s get behind them, all the players who pull on the shirt on Sunday deserve our support and let’s see what happens. David Prutton is predicting 3-2 to us, clearly more optimistic than our own fans!

Not as shocking in we have not signed Maddison from Peterborough, needs getting deal done now!

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 10:39:20
Not as shocking as being linked again withbilly no mates Imbakogu apparentle he's terminated his contract and could move to Leeds for free if he and Pennington are the best we can do were in trouble we surely have enough money left to buy quality players in those two positions if Janson suffers an injury were screwed still short of players to challenge top 6 no matter how good Bielsa is proper statement of intent needed with good signings coming in.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 10:51:33
I have to agree with you Wex, Pennington is not at the required standard and will not have improved vastly over the past 3 months. The attitude concerning the centre backs confuses me as we seem set on Cooper to pair Jansson and this pairing failed miserably last season. Bringing Pennington in appears to be a lazy, and dare I say, cheap decision. Cooper's and Jansson's injury and suspension record alone means that we are going to have to rely on Pennington and Berardi as cover. Obvious tactic to play against us will be crosses as we are vertically challenged as a squad.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 11:48:05
Ill get shot for this, i'm not bothered if we sign pennington, i don't doubt for a second that last year he wasnt the best player by a long way. However i have seen it so many times that players respond better to certain managers, there is a reason he is at a team in the premier league and given him another 3 year deal.

if he comes back i hope he proves everyone wrong. Last year the team lacked respect and energy and passion, which was a massive issue. From watching that programme last night the players are clearly respect him loads and i doubt they will want to let him down.

Im excited and think the club have done great this pre-season.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Aug 2018 11:55:34
Good post Notts. Kalas would be a class signing. The clue is in his last name!

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 10:03:17
I cannot understand why we have not made the four signings that would I think guarantee us promotion, especially after selling Vieira.

In order of how desperately I think we need them:

1. Ryan Woods - he wouldn't be a replacement for Vieira he would be an upgrade x3. I live near Brentford so been to a number of their games and he is class. I have a sneaky suspicion he'd be versatile enough to drop into CB too.

2. Tomas Kalas - Superb defender for CH and we are lacking at the back.

3. Marcus Maddison 2.5m clause if to be believed, we'd be laughing. Also Hernandez injury record and age means he's likely only platoon role.

4. Erling Haaland. If we were looking for a second striker all window I'd much rather we signed this guy with the money earmarked for Vydra. Mr Leeds and can finish. Bielsa said he only wants players who want to play for the club. This lad fits the bill perfectly.

That lot would cost I think around 20m (7m, 5m 2.5m, 5m + promotion clauses) . Haaland would have been higher in need but I think with Bamford + 2/ 3 from Clarke, Dalby, Edmondson etc we could get by up front

Sign the first two and we are top half for sure maybe play offs, first three play offs and all four promoted. We'll be lucky to get one.

Alexebab Post of the year!

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Aug 2018 10:50:47
Think it’s nailed on Pennington is coming back on loan, but as you say our MF is ‘light’ in terms of Pablo, great as he is and has been will unlikely perform as consistently and start less frequently. Siaz and Alioski are Jekyll and Hyde, brief flashes of brilliance and then invisible for long periods. Klich seems very promising since return.

Maddison definitely if not Nolan (shrews) or the Lad from Hibs who scored last nights game.

We have the money for these deals, need to sell the two who have been told they can leave. Sell on cash for Danny Rose, if Totty do buy Lewis Cook that’s more funds and there is RV transfer money.

It could be MB is happy with his lot and will reassess our position before Jan transfer window.

Just going to put this out there. Can we please stop slating players before we have even kicked a ball in anger. Cooper, Philips, alioski, siaz, Pennington poss. They are our players for the season. Forget last year its in the past let's focus on this year anx get behind each and every one of them weather they are here full time or on loan they are pulling on our shirt for our club so let's get behind them and get a positive atmosphere around the place. Remember positivity breeds positivity. ALAW MOT.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

03 Aug 2018 09:08:04
Not slating players 'before they've kicked a ball'. They have and mis-kicked on numerous occasions. Not making personal jibes just giving a footballing opinion like happens all the time. I'm sure Cooper is a very nice chap I just don't think he is good enough for Leeds for example.

Agree2 Disagree3

03 Aug 2018 09:17:03
Martyn I'll do it for Cooper because on all accounts he's improved under Bielsa. I'll do it for KP because this new role seems to suit him and he's enjoying training under Bielsa. I'll do it for Alioski because when he decides to play and stay on his feet he can be dangerous. I'll do for it Saiz because he can be class even though he currently looks disinterested but don't expect the same in relation to Pennington. Fans have the right to criticize carp players. He is awful. I've seen him play.

Agree5 Disagree1

03 Aug 2018 09:19:39

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 09:40:43
Agree with you Martyn, even with Pennington! If he comes back, it will be because he wants to be at Leeds and because Bielsa wants him here. Either he really is happy with Cooper and Pontus or he knows that we still might get a gift from Man City or Spurs, I think it is probably the former and Pennington will be here as understudy. Give him a chance and evaluate him on this years performances. Perhaps training with Bielsa and the squad will really make a difference.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 09:54:26
We need to see what Bielsa has done to improve these players first, we all know that previous managers played people out of position. If he has recognised players are better in a different role like Phillips then we may well be pleasantly surprised by a few of them #justsaying.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 10:56:30
What a load of hypocritical nonsense Martyn. Did you apply the same logic to the appointment of Heckingbottom? No you did not and you were found to be correct. Perhaps those who have seen Pennington play and believe he is not good enough may just be correct.

I hope its just paper talk that links us with the signing of Pennington. With the likes of Kalas and Denayer potentially available signing Pennington is clearly and indicator of lack of ambition and unwillingness to spend any real money. Our net expenditure so far is relatively small.

Talking of Bamford being most paid for a player since Fowler. Those figures mean nothing. What you got for 6 million 20 years ago and what you get today have no comparison. And facts remain we have invested very little this transfer window.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

03 Aug 2018 09:44:51
Doesn’t really matter how much we have invested, have we bought in better players, have we moved players on, do we have a plan and the real proof, how are we going to play on the pitch and throughout the season. Let’s see!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 10:09:31
I read a quote from Mark Hughes a couple of seasons ago that still resonates with me, it went something like this 'It isn't about how much you spend in a transfer window, it is about are you better at the end of it than at the start'. And with the additional of a Championship Winning standard LB, a Championship player of the season (albeit a few years ago) standard Striker and then 3 young lads from TOP teams and the removal of some dross I think we are in better shape. OK, keeping RV would be nice but I didn't have him in my first XI and 7 million is 7 million. So, I'm happy with the investment made so far and remain positive. Also I think a couple more loans will come in yet too.
