The problem we have had for a long time is that, because of the limited quality of our midfield we also need three in there to do the job of two quality players. Going back to the Howson, Kilkenny and Johnson days we needed all three to play to make sure we were not always overrun in mid field. It's still the same now. Because of this we need a striker to run the channels, win and direct headers, hold the ball up, tackle back and score 20+ goals a season. I haven't seen one of those for a while. Lassoga and Ecuban or a similar combination might work but that only leaves four players left after taking account of a back four. 1. Vierra, 2, Saiz 3, Alioski, 4, Phillips. Therefore no room for Hernandez or O'Kane and we look weak in the defensive mid field areas. Switching the names around doesn't appear to improve matters. It's not having enough quality players that is the problem and having to play 4,5,1 to compensate

It dosent help having non striking strikers. If we had one that could bag goals then the midfield would be ok. Its because we prob need 2 strikers to score a goal!
