Sol Bamba. Anyone surprised by how well his career has kicked on since leaving Leeds? He looked unbelievable when he first joined us but soon after the errors crept in.

he did dip in form but not in the strongest team in his defence. he was a god at first i am pleased for him same with warnock i like him, he never had a chance at leeds with way the squad and money was. he did amazing to keep us up.

Good championship player. Did play in a poor Leeds defense but do not rate him as anything special.

It’s only my opinion bw but how anybody can use the words warnock and like in the same century let alone sentence is beyond me. I’m not going to justify the animal with anymore of my time.
It seems we differ on Bamford too!

05 Dec 2018 12:39:56
I like Warnock also - he would have got us up if he wasn't shafted by Bates who just broke all of his promises. You don't get a record number of promotions by being terrible. So he rubbed a few people up the wrong way (mainly when his team were beaten by a Warnock side) - even Jesus Christ wasn't liked by everybody.

That disappoints me Alf. Was considering you for my 3rd place poster this season until that post.
George. your now in 3rd mate. Keep up the good work Georgy.

agree alf you don't have warnock's cv by being poor, even in prem league he was unlucky, getting cardiff to prem was nothing short of amazing and up there with lesticer winning prem league

aus anyone who backs george as a good poster says it all for me, seems your judgement is questionable from posting to managers. while on it how about bamford. best in league for me!

Berm Have you decided which cheek for the inevitable branding? We could put it to a vote on the site. Eds, please organize a vote on which of Berm's cheeks get branded. Maybe we could also have the event televised a la Rodney Marsh and his hair shaving? Probably draw quite an audience. PPV and internet. Can you imagine if I arranged for KP to give the final fluorishes instead of the tattooist? Have a nice week Berm 😁.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - surely it has to go across both cheeks?}

04 Dec 2018 18:30:14
One cheek for KP and the other cheek when we get promoted! Get that poker heating up!

04 Dec 2018 19:26:48
Ed001 That's a bit cheeky of you! Boom boom. Technically, correct though. Berm referred to bottom. Actually I think the word he used in the requisite post was an anagram of "ears" so Ed001 quite right. In that case, all which remains is which cheek holding Championship trophy aloft, which cheek playing in England jersey? I'm not picky but Speedyg might be! Boom boom.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - my only fear is that the only way to know he really has done it is for him to post a pic of his arse afterwards. That is a sight that is likely to give us all nightmares forever after!}

04 Dec 2018 19:49:18
I think the UN has observers that we might be able to use, as does the Electoral Reform Society . I think we would all be prepared to accept their word!

04 Dec 2018 21:45:58
So that's settled. Only other issue of note is location of the tattooing. Elland Road my suggestion. It'll be packed to the rafters. Berm shall become international celebrity. Will give his playwright career shot in the ears I mean arm. Leave the arrangements to me and Andrea. Sleep well Berm.

leyton will have my back i am quite the celeb down there and loved by all. although i did have a row with the chairman and manager when they refused to swap big marv and bonne for KP, i even said i would foot the bill for the transfer deficit, said the same to borough chairman and said i would go halves on the KP transfer fee. (thinking he is worth at least a score each) but he refused!

BW if we get to the play offs we are as good as any team there. What you don't want to do is go anywhere with a defeatist attitude, you have no chance then . There is no team in this league who would fancy coming to Elland Rd in the play offs and we are capable of getting a result at any ground . The table don't lie. It's still all to be played for, we are in the mix and have as good a chance as any. All those teams below us would all like to swap places with us if given a chance. We are work in progress as well. MB has only been here about 20 weeks. When we get the squad completed and we get fully tuned up, we will be able to go up another couple of gears . The brand of possession football we are playing, recruitment, coaching and investment all point in the one direction.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2018 17:12:59
true and I have said we are exceeding my expectiations and every thing is massive progress. the table don't lie but i still think we have had some false results and that might catch up with us with the return fixtures but then who knows.

I agree agree about the defeatest attitude and if the players shared my views i would be gutted but as a fan i am pretty sure my thoughts will not affect any results. I am normally the most postivie fan in the world and maybe a change of tact might work out better.

On the KP theme, young footballers are on a learning curve and with the right coaching can improve and develop their game, as in KP's instance becoming unrecognisable to the player they were 2 years earlier . Form and fitness are also factors, where young players who are fatigued have a couple of bad games and loose confidence, get labelled as not being good enough and cannot recover from this . Everyone is saying we have a small squad of 22 to 25 senior professionals, behind this we have have assembled a development squad with "one for the future" players who standards wise may have far more potential than most other reserve teams . Added to this MB coaching and I don't think our squad is as light as others think. Also this has happened off the radar, meaning lots of the pundits are not quite as aware of it . You can see the plan coming together . Another 2 or 3 come through like Clarke add in a few of astute buys and we really will not be that far away.

over the past few weeks I have spoken to many ex professionals, scouts, sports jounralists, managers and people in the game. All said they wish leeds the best and want us to return, all said what great fans we have and most said they think we will go up, can they all be wrong?

Personally I still think we will fall short (I think we will get beat comfortably by whoever we play in the first round of the playoffs) but then a lot can happen, lots of form, games and a transfer window to happen.

I certainly did not think we would be here at this point in the season and i'm certainly impressed with the improvement overall from last year. I still think maybe we are putting too much faith in our coach, not becuase he ain't good because he is but you still need the players and for me we still fall short here, but despite our injuries and small squad we sit second with a small gap between 3rd so maybe I am just a weary leeds fan who can't be positive as when I am we fall to bits.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2018 16:37:16
Bermo, surely the best answer is, it’s too soon and too competitive to know exactly what is going to happen, but to predict failure and that “ we will get beat comfortably by whoever we play in the first round of the playoffs”, in early December when we are second, frankly sounds a bit weird!

You don’t appear to be a glass half empty sort of guy but when it comes to KP and Leeds promotion chances the glass seems to be gathering dust.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Dec 2018 17:09:15
spanish if you read my post that is what i have said in other words.

I had thoughts on how the season would go on past seasons and what i have seen

I have thoughts on what i have seen so far

overall leeds have exceeded what i would of expected which is great but still so much to go it is impossible to predict

however that said how things are at the moment and what i have seen (which is all i can base it on) i would not be confident over two legs against norwich, villa, west brom, swans, borough at this point in time, don't mean it will play out that way with so much to change but i can only comment on how things are at the moment

every year i have a bet on leeds to go up and england to win whatever comp they are in (finally won on nations league) this year i am very much glass half full if that, i honest at this point in time don't think we will go up, hope i am wrong and don't care either way. Promotion don't matter a jot to me, i love leeds either way so maybe my glass is always full as promotion doesn't change my thoughts on leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2018 18:01:47
Bermo, don’t understand! You say,

‘ overall Leeds have exceeded what I would of expected which is great but still so much to go it is impossible to predict”

But even though it’s impossible to predict you go on to say,

‘At this point in time don’t think that we will go up”

Sounds a bit like a prediction to me and the same prediction that you have made since the start of the season, despite the results and the progress.

To me it’s a shame promotion doesn’t matter a jot to you. It does to me and to thousands of the folks who go to the games and live and work in and around the city. I think it will help the club to get and retain promotion and it will bring a lot of happiness to the area. The city should have a premiership team, But we have to earn it by right, and that is what we’re trying to do. Perhaps it’s a bit different for people who live or have close connections with the city.

Anyone let’s all hope including you, that you’re wrong!

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2018 18:36:34
come on spanish you are a smart guy.

while it is impossible to predict what will happen it is possible to have an opinion on what someone has seen so far. it is impossible to predict how my eldest will grow up (she is five) however at this point in time i predict she will grow up a lovely person as she is a kind smart kid. it is always hard to predict the future but very easy to have an idea on how you think it might pan on given the circumstances at the time

I find what you say at the end genuinely upsetting. to me it doesn't and shouldn't matter what league we are in. I enjoyed our wins in league one as much as I enjoyed our wins in the champions league. In fact i prefered league one football to premier football as it shows we are a proper club and proper fans. maybe it is because my local team is millwall and the team i am closly linked to is leyton Orient, the status of the club or league we play in bares no impact on my love for the club or enjoyment on a saturday (or whenever sky schedue our games for) . I agree it might bring a bit more money to the city and i will be delighted with promotion and devistated if i am correct and we lose in the playoffs but overall it doesn't matter. better to lose a leeds fan than win a fan of any other club. win lose or draw we all love leeds and a premiership badge on our shirt will not increse my love for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2018 19:44:35
Bermo, clearly we have to agree to differ on this one. I prefer to be positive and I base that positivity not just on hope but on the results that this group of players have achieved so far this year and see absolutely no evidence of why we should be beaten heavily in the play offs.

Cambridge definition of “ prediction” : “statement about what you think will happen in the future:”

You think that we will miss out on the playoffs and you think we will be heavily beaten in the playoffs” Those are your predictions which you seem very happy to make repeatedly . Fair enough let’s wait and see.

May I? Sorry as a new poster but been following for a long time. Bermondsey has really helped me in this thread to understand where he is coming from and I have to respect that (still disagree mind) . But he did not say "heavily" but comfortably and TBH after the West Brom game he has a point. Giving dictionary definitions of words is a bit schoolboy debater and is basically an insult to Berm - who is clearly a pretty smart guy. I disagree with Berm's view but like the rest of us we are Leeds so it is not unreasonable to expect the worst. I must admit that I loved the banter with proper Leeds fans when we were in league 1 and sh*t news about Leeds was a daily occurrence but talking to some of the other L1 fans (Carlisle Blue? ) was a breath of fresh air compared to most of the prem lot. Why argue now? This season is a great ride with a possible epic ending. Be excellent to each other we've been through a lot!

cheers brat,

i would like to say i also knew we would beat doncaster and watford in playoffs and thought michael rickets would be top scorer and we know how they worked out, so maybe thinking we might get beat will do us well. Who knows we might even go up automatic which would be a dream given our playoff record.

leodis sadly my wife is even worse than me (hard to imagine but i am the nice one, just ask my daughters who lucky for me take after there great granddad)

spanish i never said let's not agree to disagree. i can certanily see the argument for saying leeds will go up the main two being results and the table so i don't think you are mad for saying you feel we will go up i just at the moment think we will fall short maybe ready for a charge next year, although history would suggest MB is a short term bounce not a long term answer.

I'm not really sure why, but I can't stop watching the goal against Sheffield Utd!
Although it's easy to put it down to goalie error, there is also a lot of hard work that goes into encouraging it and then exploiting it! Hernadez presses the defender to turn him back towards goal, Clarke presses the Goalkeeper to cause the doubt. Then Clarke momentarily puts his foot on the ball and assesses the situation before lifting it just enough to clear the goalie and find Hernandez. Finally Mr cool gets it into the net. I know we have already scored a lot more stylish goals this season, but I think that one says a lot about why we are up there. Well done Pablo and JC, you earned it!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2018 10:09:28
I did the same Spanish. Clarke could have just decided that the goalie was going to get it. But he chased him down on his blind side! The goalie passed the ball without knowing Clarke was there. Clarke showed amazing coolness and skill to get it to Hernandez.

04 Dec 2018 12:46:38
It is annoying to keep being told we were gifted the goal. We were actually gifted the opportunity. It took a cool head and some deft footwork from a young lad to create Pablo's finish, and he had to be there.

its those kind of opportunistic moments that are all too often missed as these was still a fair bit of work to do like you have said. 2 points extra for us and 1 less for Sheff Utd could prove to be decisive come the end of the season as well.

04 Dec 2018 14:15:01
although it was a mistake and looks it there was so much energy and planning into the chasing down, it is easy to make mistakes when under such presure and clake did very well with the assist.

Most teams in the mix have easy games this weekend so it's important not to slip up.
I'm expecting villa and derby to push on so it will be Sheff Utd and one other to drop out. That will most likely then be the top 6 at end of the season.
It is still important to strengthen if the right quality player comes along jan. good teams strengthen while doing well. Not struggling.
And finally. I'd forgo the fa Cup this year. Unless we get cushy home times. And realistically we ain't getting to Wembley. So focus on promotion.

04 Dec 2018 07:11:55
West Brom have got Villa and then Sheffield United, Villas second game is Stoke and Derby’s second is Notts Forest.
Boro and Norwich seem to have an easier couple but despite lots of goals recently, Norwich got a 0-0 at Hull. It’s so difficult to predict in the championship, as we know clubs like Birmingham and Blackburn can hurt you in their day and you can apply that to a host of middle ranking teams.

If we are really going to challenge for the top two, we have a fair set of fixtures through to First in New Year’s Day . Villa away is the key one but even that will matter less is we do well in the other games.

04 Dec 2018 09:10:52
As I said, most have winnable games this weekend. West Brom being the exception. I game at a time Spanish.

Strange to think pre fancied teams like stoke and Swansea. Might not even make the top 6.

Who you play in this league makes little difference in my opinion. Especially over the xmas period when fixtures come thick and fast and you have the cup fixtures added in there as well. Any team can punish you if you are not on your game. Think Norwich deserve to be there and i think West Brom have the players to come again. The gap to third will help over the coming month and if we can widen it a little come Jan we will be in a strong position. FA Cup? Would love us to do well in it and it would lift the players as well if we got to quarters or semis but feel our main focus should be and probably will be promotion so would not be too upset if QPR put us out to be honest.
