While we all deliberate on who is best choice in goal I have lost track of BPF. I seem to remember he was sent on loan but returned early. Did he go back out or is he just turning out for the academy?

Looks like he’s not even good enough for the under 23s unfortunately. Oldham sent him back from loan so looks like he basically not up to it. His name escapes me but anyone got an idea where the young diminutive welsh midfielder who looked the bizz a couple of years back has gone?

While on the subject. Anyone know how Tyler Denton is doing at Port Vale. Do we have anyone else currently on loan somewhere.

Antonsson is out on loan at Blackburn anc I ghinknhas scored 5 goals in his last 5 games.

Don't think Denton's getting too many starts at Vale altho he is getting a lot of minutes, Coyle at Fleetwood seems to be Man of the Match every two games, Antonsson scoring for fun in November.

I am seeing another midfielders name bandied about (more than one) but as yet no mention of anything in the LB or GK positions. Whilst I think a brilliant, 20 goal a season defensive midfielder would be an awesome addition I can't help feeling that we are well endowed in the middle of the park, with some players not even getting a kick. I think we could virtually field an outfield team of purely midfielders. One more and he could play goalie when needed. So come on journos try pushing a LB or GK.

Leo All those extra midfielders we sold so you are wrong. We basically have 4. KP OKane RV and Klich. I rate Klich but not in this league. Kane not at his best this season so there's room for 2 more because I can see Okane and Klich leaving in July.

Gomes, Anita, Shaughnessy, Sacko, Dallas all listed as midfielders These plus others have squad numbers and can't always get a game whether in midfield or elsewhere. Anyway the point I was trying to make was, it's not as if we are bereft of bodies should someone get an injury in midfield. Any news eagerly read would be of us chasing a goalkeeper or Left back which seem to be far more contentious positions.

Now light in midfield due to player sales and TC alienating the rest

Yeah Notts we have many midfielders on the payroll but only a hard core get picked.

It's possible but definitely not certain we will pick up a decent return of points from the games in the run up to Christmas and be in a good position viz a viz the top six. However, I do not believe we have the quality to challenge all our nearest competitors to be in the top six by the end of the season. We could manage it if we strengthen at left back; Centre half, midfield and striker. Ideally five new players would be needed if you also added a goal keeper to the list. We are crying out for one but he would not be the priority. The problem, as always, is where are they coming from and how much will they cost. The left back and centre half from Bristol City have been regularly mentioned. Why would they come to Leeds? Bristol are doing better than us at the moment and they would be stupid to let one or both go to a rival club unless they are bankrupt and we offer silly money. They same applies with other players in January. If we do bring in players I think it will be a gamble with Orta again putting his reputation on the line with players who are not household names but who might (or might not) help us to get where we want to go. Odds are we will be having another go at promotion to the Premier league next season. Hope I am wrong but watching Leeds at the moment suggests I am not.

Agree hess. I think at the moment we are a 9th to 12th finish. And i can't really see that changing. We may flatter to deceive like we did at begining of the season but we are not consistent, not an experienced team and have to many weaknesses! It will be a miracke if this can be fixed in january.

Still think we should have went and got. Stockdale ( keeper ) and Bryan and Flint from Bristolian the summer. I’d go for Charlie Adam ( mid ) and Danny ings ( striker ) or gary madine ( striker ) to play TC style off one up top. Andy Robertson ( LB loan ) and go get Flint. 👍👍⚽️⚽️

Hess, are the players you speak of at Bristol City British? If so that's the reason we won't be buying them. We bought no British players in the summer and brought only two in on loan and they're not exactly first choice. I still believe any players bought in January will be foreign and we probably will have never heard of them before. As I've said before, IMO Orta thinks there is better value in buying foreign.

Stockdale in heindsight would have been the man to get IMO. English players aren't cheap correct, and the english players in this league are not the best. Bonatini, Jota, Saiz, Hoilett, all foreign, stick to what you know Orta, he's unearthed a gem in Saiz, a good player in alioski, potential in Sarkic (U23's) potential in ekuban, a good manager in TC, and good coaching staff, but this team, bar maybe 4/5 players, needed a whole revamp in the summer. i'd say 50% of the job is done.

Yeah but we keep saying that come every transfer window every year. Which means our recruitment is poor now and in the past. can't keep changing 5-10 players every window or year.

06 Dec 2017 11:05:30
Maybe it's the scattergun approach to recruitment. I knew a company once who at start of a new office used to employ 1.5-2 times the number of people they wanted and after a couple of months sort the good from the bad and end up with the right numbers.

with a new manager at the start of the season who wasnt used to English football and a clutch of new players it was inevitable that not all of them would work out. Hopefully the first half of the season has hoped to highlight our weaknesses and let TC realise what he needs to improve. I'm hoping that come January our recruitment will be strategic and plug the gaps rather than us just taking on another load of players to see what works out. Saying that, unsurprisingly the weak areas seem to be the ones we highlighted in the summer - keeper, centre back, left back, combative midfielder, striker.

Well, we have five more games left this year. All five opponents are in the bottom six in the current form table, (last six matches) . So 15 points then? Easy Peasy! 😁

Very harsh ausman! Short term fixes do not give you long term consistency and I for one am bored/tired of chopping managers every season!

I think 6-8 mill on a proper goalkeeper and 8-10 on a proper striker and the rest might sort itself out!

He should cause 1-3 mill on lots isn't really working. The two most important positions should be the most money paid for them.

Agree Aus. I'd look at it in the range of 4-5 for a GK though as i think Orta will have been looking for a long time now for a new striker. No more loans though please unless it is someone a bit too good for the championship who will just come in, teach the young boys, score for fun, then leave after sending us up. I personally see Benik Afobe as the answer, he's everything Ekuban is, with goals in his game, and he's proven that at this level. he's fourth choice at bournemouth and if he wants he can bring lewis cook back with im. collect byram from down south too while you're there?

It’s simple we have to spend to get the right players it’s no good buying or taken loan players just look at us now, one good week five crap weeks it’s ok if you want to stay in this league causes you won’t get out of it, and sorry to say they need to be fromthis side of the water. simple

06 Dec 2017 14:27:44
if you take into account what money we made from player sales at the beginning of the season and who we brought in we should have 15-20 mill in the bank for buying players.
