A few have said Huddersfield will fade away.
Best side we've faced this season imo!

05 Feb 2017 22:07:43
I'm one who predicts that huddersfield will fade and I agree on today's meeting they were the best team we've played but I still think they will fade.

{Ed025's Note - you men hope wex..

05 Feb 2017 22:25:34
Agree cork, they had so many options going forward, there movement and the pace at which they play when attacking caused ourselves and Brighton big problems, in comparison you see wood up top for us and he's so isolated, Pablo has gone off the boil a bit for me, I expected more goals from him, we are almost relying on him for great set piece delivery at the moment, that extra striker monk was after was the one sub we didn't have to put on with 20 to go.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Feb 2017 07:21:43
I agree CORK. If we both finish in the playoffs then we'll have to find a way of beating them over one game or possibly two. Something we haven't managed to do so far this season!

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Feb 2017 11:16:54
It was their cup final, much like Barnsley, I wouldn't be surprised if they lose their next couple of games after they've played us.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Feb 2017 19:32:00
Looking at remaining fixtures for top five you'd have to fancy our chances yes we have big games but evenly spaced with games we should be winning. Our challengers have some tough games back to back. Have a look lads and give us your thoughts.

I agree entirely Wex, for Newcastle in particular the level of expectation upon their instant return will manifest as greater pressure, which is why I stated earlier our target must remain towards one of the automatic spots, which in itself takes a high performance level into the
play offs if required.

Still lots of points to play for, and as the season progresses teams in relegation dog fights will beat top teams in their fight for survival. We know we have weaknesses in areas but I believe both our new signings will make significant contributions.

Coupled with the best management team we have had for many a year makes me feel genuinely optimistic and excited for the reminder of the season.

06 Feb 2017 08:52:50
Both spot on.
Was excited by Pedraza particularly; even from the snippets we saw, he looks quality.

Why isn't Charlie Taylor getting a game, not saying it would have changed today's result but just curious!

He is injured. Not due to return until March.

How if your a leeds fan can you not know Taylor is injured? . monk gives an update on him at his weekly press conferences . odd.

06 Feb 2017 20:04:42
Don't get so frustrated, I'm definitely a Leeds United fan, since 1968 so. Thought the club may have wanted us to believe he was injured then announce he had been sold in the window just past.
These things happen!

Here's to promotion from all us Leeds fans in Northumberland.

We move on to the next game. Wagner is a richard head, but he will look stupid when Hudds don't go up. No more cup final away Yorkshire derbies now thankfully. Next two at home and Pedraza looks exciting.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

05 Feb 2017 17:24:53
Since the dogs are already promoted, only 2 spots to left to fight for now!

I feel silly saying this but hey ho here goes. How can you argue about any player who is knocking in a goal a game but, I constantly see a player who is out headed, most balls bounce off his legs and passes frequently go astray. Yes he scores goals but how many does he set up? You can say he is isolated and has to feed off scraps but a more mobile/ skilled forward would help himself and those around him.
When/ if our 2 new wingers get going it may be better to have a busy poacher around the box ala Defoe.
Could we already have such an animal in Kemar Roofe? I know it's heresy so don't all rush to denounce me. Just my opinion.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

05 Feb 2017 21:05:41
I think two good wingers will give Wood more opportunities to score!
Strange post.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Feb 2017 21:06:23
Not to mention his work rate.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Feb 2017 08:58:22
Woods work rate, and defending from the front was outstanding yesterday. Ran his boots off. Took his goal very well, perfectly timed movement. Top scorer in the league in 2017. Yep, he sometimes miscontrols, but I'll take his goals, passion and work rate for the odd misplaced pass / touch everyday.

I think 3 points from the two games this week is probably one more than we actually deserved.
The next three games are definitely winnable, let's see where we are then. Come on, you know me always positive! πŸ˜‰.

05 Feb 2017 15:50:55
The game, overall, was tense but enjoyable and Leeds defended well for the most part. Unfortunately, whilst being very competitive and strong in mid field, our passing and general distribution was poor. In addition getting onto the second ball at breakdowns was not good enough which led to Huddersfield getting a greater and greater share of possession. Doukara was a bit off his game and didn't make the impact that was hoped for. Vierra although winning a great deal of ball for the first 55 minutes also gave away possession too many times by very poor passing. This has been a feature of his game for many weeks. He understandably tired towards the end. Jansson overall played well but was caught out for the first goal after Berardi's mistake further up the pitch and had a couple of miscues. Because we didn't have a solid foundation in mid field Hernandez couldn't make the inroads like his Huddersfield counterparts were doing to us and he was anonymous for much of the game. Wood got his goal which was very welcome but was isolated for much of the time up front. Pedroza looks a promising acquisition but 'Mo' didn't have the opportunity to shine and looked a bit off the pace. Dallas had a decent game without having the impact of his opposite numbers. Bottom line was 'we competed' and could have sneaked a draw but we didn't - pressure finally paid off for our opponents. Positives? We competed and looked competent without creating too much. The defence and mid field looked solid and Pedroza looks like he will make an impact. Green had a good game. Negatives? Poor distribution and passing in mid field led to us to be on the back foot for large parts of the game with our counter attacking options limited. Both Jansson and Batley picked up yellow cards. It's not inconceivable that they could be absent, at the same time, through suspension later in the season. Nothing has been lost though except one game. There are 16 games to go and we are still looking good for top six.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

05 Feb 2017 16:04:56
Agreed, on the whole and we need to win our next 3 (all 3 are doable) . Every time we have had a knock, we come back stronger. We all have the odd off day, it's a shame too many of our players had them on the same day. Tough game, as we knew it would be. Gutted but know we can move on and up. πŸ‘πŸ» MOT.

05 Feb 2017 21:13:12
Good points Hess. Maybe could of played okane along side brid and viera to shore things up as Dallas offers little imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2017 15:42:16
Well if we want to take a positive away from the hullabaloo at the end, it's that Monky has got the team fighting for him. Literally! It's that sort of team spirit that might just get us through the playoffs.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

05 Feb 2017 18:55:38
Good assessment Hess, agree speedy we are going to need that fighting spirit come the playoffs.

05 Feb 2017 15:06:15
Don't like saying this but Hudders were the better team today.
They needed the luck of deflection to clinch though.

We gave the ball away too much. Their passing was more accurate.

Sure we'll be back in the winners enclosure soon.
Will be plenty of upsets in this run up.
Maybe we'll meet them again at Wembley.

05 Feb 2017 14:58:47
Fair result in the end they should have been 3-1 up at half time if it wasn't for Rob Green. We battled hard in that game and if we keep battling like this until the end of the season we will be top 6 for sure. M. O. T.

Good point that Hardy. Thought Green was very good.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2017 14:37:13
Thought we were just not at it today. We have played poorly previously and got away with it. Today not so. All the stats tell us that the best team won and just deserved the win.
It's not the end of the dream but as I have said previously every game is now a 6 pointer and it is important we get back on the roll as soon as possible.

Haven't seen the Wagner incident, but let's be fair!
Monk was totally out of order, Wagner was fully innocent.
The only real victim in all this is Huddersfield and all the London based clubs!
The only way to solve this is to throw Leeds out of the league, ban monk for life, make Leeds fans pay for all Huddersfields fans summer holiday and knight David Wagner!
Surely you can see this is the most sensible course of action!

Kind regards
Shaun Harvey.

Dear Martyn.
Thank you saving me the appear work on this one. Let's just fast forward through the formalities and why don't you just start with the self whipping now! What shall we say is fair, 1000 lashes?

Oh and mr speed, I shall be dealing mr jansson.
I shall be removing his magic hat and ensure that all the managers in the league shall defficate in it before placing it firmly on his head whilst he stands in front of the firing squad!

Hope you agree, it's only fair!

05 Feb 2017 14:11:08
Such fine margins in this league, believe Monkey was quite happy to have taken a draw today!

Have to think had we won it wouldn't have guaranteed anything and losing so late on still does not prevent us realising our dreams come the end of the season.

On a positive note, long time since we were able to bring on such strong substitutions and Padraza in particular looks a player.

Tough for the boys (and supporters) to take so late in the game and now is the time to support the team all the more. MOT.

I know it sounds very obvious but I can't help but think that tomorrow's game can be won and lost with the teams selection. If monk starts Dallas, we could be at risk, if he trusts the players he has personally brought in to reinforce the team, I think we'll see a team similar to this:

Green, Ayling, Jansson, Bartley, Berardi, Bridcutt, Vieira, Barrow, Hernandez, roofe, wood.
Although I think he will play o'kane and Dallas ahead of roofe and vieira. I wouldn't be too dissatisfied with this but I think we need to take the game to Huddersfield tomorrow, we need passion and drive.

If the wingers are chosen incorrectly and the ones who he chooses are not mentally prepared for the occasion it could cost us. We've seen that Huddersfield have goals, but we also have a great defence this year, so I think that this game will be won or lost out wide.

Either way I'm buzzing and I'm Leeds and I'm proud of it. MOT.
