I find it hilarious that people want grant holt in a Leeds shirt? Have you people actually seen him play? Waste of time and money he's slow and poor with his feet, he had one good season in the championship but so did Glenn Murray last year but you wouldn't want him at the club either. Players don't come to prominence at the age of 30 they are one off's.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Glen murrey has been scoring for the past 4 years without difficulty, they are both playing in prem teams so how the heck would they not b good 4 us? lol muppet

Saints have told a number of their fringe players that they can leave the club this summer.

The first-team squad returned to pre-season training this week, but some players were absent.

Outside of those granted extra rest due to international duty, the likes of Billy Sharp, Dean Hammond, Lee Barnard, Richard Chaplow, Steve De Ridder and Tadanari Lee were not thought to be present.
It is understood there are no plans for them to attend the pre-season tour, although they could report in for some training this month if they have not found a new club.
Pochettino confirmed the players do not form part of his plans.
Billy Sharp, De Ridder and Tadanari Lee decent players proven at championship level worth a look. Highly thought of down here MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You guys should sign sharp if he wants to go back up north. he deserves a big club. Lee is class if you can keep him fit but has been injured most of the time with us. De Ridder skillful and fast but no final ball, tbf he didn't get hardly any starts even under Adkins so might prove to be good if he starts a few games in succession but can see him going back to Belgium or holland

Thanks for giving us your time for the info mate, top man.

Lol dnt want de ridder he's 1 of the top 5 worst players in the prem. lee is good but hardly need another sick note and sharp wouldn't fit in

It is difficult to suggest what Leeds need when I do not know what I can afford and without really seeing the players in pre-season.
I think we have three of the back four with
Bryan lees warnock
Pearce/peltier will have the other CB role with youth as backup.
If mcd plays a diamond I do think that green and Austin will be either or.
Luke Murphy has to get the othe spot and I think we might also see Dawson.
We might even see Murray and Dawson without either Austin or green.
Diouf was one of best players last season and I think he played best on the right, but we could do with a backup with pace.
Mccormack and hunt will play up front with smith as backup.
The weak point of the whole team is the left wing where we have no one.
If we got a fast decent left winter I would be happy with that as the team that wins the league.

I have never had anything against leeds but when a bitter fan off your club comes on our part of the site (southampton fc) and starts saying we don't deserve our success we have had or the money I just wanter to say, I like leeds but really? don't be bitter towards other clubs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well you can't take the words of one to represent the many. I for one am hoping you do well in the Premier League this year, and I was very happy with how well you did last year. I like your squad and your style of play, and I'm sure I can vouch for many other Leeds fans. Don't take what some people say too seriously!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because one fan says that don't categorise us all that way, we've had plenty of fans from "other clubs" come on and mouth off and there the ones that get past the eds, I'm sure they will tell u there are a lot more that doesn't get thru. I for one don't begrudge the saints where they are or how they got there because I'm sure most leeds fans would be happy of that was us so that "Leeds fan" was probably just jealous and left school with detention!

Agree0 Disagree0

He's only one fan don't tar us all with the same brush mate. Good luck saints, you are a well run honest club I think

A few questions for you ED013

1) What do you think our average attendance will be this season at ER now that we have got rid of bates?

2) How much money do you think BMD has available to spend after the signings of Smith, Murphy and Hunt?

3) How many more players can you see us bringing in before the home game against Brighton?

thanks in advance for the reply. {Ed013's Note -Hi mate, I would hope for a 25,000 plus capacity, but the team need a good start to keep the crowds. I am a little disappointed that we have only sold the same amount of season tickets as last season though! Until any significant invesment comes in I believe that Brian is working with a few million plus any player sales, but I can't say for sure as they could be playing it down so that not to get over priced on players. Players wise I expect a CB, 1 or 2 Wingers/Attacking Midfielder and a Striker. I suppose time will tell and Brian will surprise us! MOT}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In other words, hopefully Upson/Mills, Adomah, Wabara (push Byram forward) and Le Fondre. A loan for Suso from Liverpool would be nice too.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Brian continues signing the same sort of players he is signing now and GFH carry on spending than I would expect 28000 because our last attendance at home was 25000 hopfully that will be improved on
I think brian has 1.5 million to spend on the two players by July 13th as he's said. If there's any more after that an extra 1 million max
I think 3 players would do. Two young pacy wingers and a centre back

Ed what will the weather be like tomorrow?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not surprised at the season ticket sales Ed. I sit with a group and granted we have all moaned over the past two season about Leeds, but renewed none the less. However, there are a few among us who have been Season Ticket holders far longer than me and decided enough is enough. At the moment things look bright, but we'll judge come October/November. If we're doing OK, then I'd expect to see half season tickets doing a roaring trade! {Ed013's Note - Yeah your right mate, I just hope that people appreciate that GFH and Brian are building the club back up so promotion may take a couple of seasons}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, what are the winning lottery numbers for tonight. {Ed013's Note - 1,2,3,4,5,6 and the bonus ball will be 7. Let's split the winnings}

I would sell peltier and get him off the wages bill. We have enough defenders and it just hasn't worked out he has been a big dissapointment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree. He's not the best Centre Half we have and he was purchased as a right back. He can play in both positions, so could be used at cover, but not my first choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was terrible at the start of the season, granted. However since he has been playing as centre back I think he has been solid enough. Instead I would off load Jason Pearce and Adam drury at the back and keep peltier as a squad player

Agree0 Disagree0

Lees and peltier as our main cbs thank you. peltier ended up as 1 of our best and lees is decent so no we wnt b selling him you so called fan

Before everybody judges players on the odd game they have seen them play on tele or game against leeds, why don't they wait and see if and how they play for leeds. Just because a player seems rubbish in the odd game, over a season it might be a different story. Regardless of who we are linked with, I don't care how they played before as long as when they wear white they play well.
Chillout. Mcd is in complete control and knows exactly what he is doing, why he is doing it and who he needs.

Will we see a rise in crowds now that there is no more Bates or his gang? We have an optimistic manager, we've spent £1million on a player for the first time in 7 years, there is rumoured to be a couple more coming in. I understand not everyone can afford it but the people who used Bates as an excuse as to why they were "boycotting" Leeds have no excuses now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The people who have said they would not go to a match until bates left the club are all hot air. Proper fans just go and support the team in the good or bad times not make excuses.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be honest with you, I have been a Loyal Leeds fan for over 30 years and the last 2 seasons have not renewed my season ticket for 2 reason's

1) It was costing me £1000 for me and my boy to go which isn't cheap especially with extra's you spend on the matchday and fuel etc.

2) I wasn't happy with lining Papa Smurfs pocket when he was not helping the club financially on the field.

I have recently been paid out on a PPI claim and the first thing I did with my money was got Me and my 2 kids season tickets.

This season will be one to remember for us Leeds fans and I have a lot of faith in who BMD has brought in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just read on OS that first game will be category C game, would never have got that under B****** Bates.

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to the 3rd poster, fair play to you. Everyone should get behind the team this year. I live in Ireland but don't work anymore, used to be over twice a year before that. Would love to get over soon! I think we should have a good season, hope more people get down and buy a few more season tickets. Small changes at Thorpe arch and letting 1st and youth teams will make a big difference. People are complaining about Matt Smith but a big lad like that gives a different option and could be important in tight games. I haven't really seen much of Murphy but a few teams seem to be in for him which can't be bad. As for Noel Hunt as people say he's not a prolific goalscorer but he never was but he'll get goals in the championship and set up a fair few. He's a workhorse and pest for defenders and will give 110% in every game! I met him in his pub in Ennis with Ian Harte before his wedding and you couldn't meet a nicer fella! Took loads of pics and even gave someone his boots that we're on display! We have to get rid of a bit of deadwood too and if young lads aren't playing get them out on loan! Can't wait for kickoff this season. MOT

Does anybody on here know how badly Byram's injury is. Not playing against Farsley due to his hip problem. This has been ongoing since before the end of last season. Doesn't look too good at first glance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not that bad, he's travelling to Slovenia with the squad

I think Craige Mikael Smith from Brighton would be a
good acquisition now we have a target man in Matt Smith and another work hard grafter like Noel Hunt MKS would give us the little bit of pace up front with Noel Hunt and Ross McCormack just playing behind the front two, the pace and work rate of our forward line would scare the life out of most defences in the Championship, not perfect balance I know but maybe something like
Kenny

Byram Lees Mills Warnock

McCormack Murphy Green Hunt

M Smith CMS
with players like Austin, Norris, Diouf, etc coming from the bench, of course if we sign some out and out wingers it could be different just a thought though.

white4ever.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Makail smith is terrible now, gone down from 3 million in value to barely 900,000 because he can't find the goal. Most brighton fans want him to leave now because of this and he may have injury problems now as the whole season he suffered from injuries. I can see why it would be seen as a good addition because of his goal scoring past but he isn't great now. 8 months ago it would be a different story perhaps. I know a few brighton season ticket holders by the way

Agree0 Disagree0

Not being funny but mccormack will b our main st not a midfielder for god sake

With the number 9 shirt up for grabs - who do we think is a realistic target - any one got any rumours on possible stickers we're looking at.

I personally would love Grant Holt. Poor last season but in League 1 and Championship he was superb absolutely beast and I'm sure I read he supports Leeds?

I think we have some good forwards but no 'main man'. If we are going in for a Striker then it has be better than what we have.

Anyone got any suggestions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In my opinion I'd take nahki wells from BC l if he was available at tr right price, young, quick and has an eye for goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn t mind Holt in there myself. I read somewhere recently that someone in the prem was lining up a 4m bid for him, now I know we spent a bit of cash recently but I think that may be a bit rich for us, not that he s worth that much anyway. As for him being a Leeds supporter! I don't think so, I think his old man is though MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Hooper would show some real intent by the owners. but I'd settle for Holt, Vaughan or Sharp

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance with holt and as for him having a bad season lol your joking obviously. he was there main st all season and played very well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im happy with what we already have, I certainly don't want to play Mcacormack as a wide man or a midfield. The money's better off spent on a packet winger like Forrester Mackay-Steven.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nahki wells
Marvin sordell
Kevin Doyle
Nile ranger
Xisco
Cameron jerome
Carlton cole

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper is way out of our price bracket, Vaughan allegedly gone, Holt would like but think wages would be an issue and Sharp I would have him on the next bus to TA.

Agree0 Disagree0

Byram played very well at right back last season but in my opinion was even more effective at right side of midfield - going forward but also tracking back. I still think we need a commanding centre back, a 'selfish' goal scorer (ie player who knows he has to score and makes sure he does it - like Beckford did in league 1); and a left sided winger. Not much to ask! All will depend on whether we need to sell Byram to get others in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We don't need to sell any of our best players ffs, get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

Byram is very average as a midfielder, he's not Gareth Bale. Whereas he is a very good right back. It would be idiocy to waste him out of position.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at him all season- Leeds played more positively when he was in mid field. It could be that we were so poor in that dept. that any injection of talent would have had that effect. Not sure what is his best position. That's up to B McD to sort.

Agree0 Disagree0

He should stay as right back and carry on supporting the midfielders which will hopfully be the wingers

Hi All Kevin Leeds 50 years here.
I am going to say something which is actually strange to us Leeds fans, well here goes, for the first time in 10 years the board, the manager, the players, the staff, and importantly the supporters, even LUST (yes I am not joking LUST) are thinking and moving in the right direction, Wow is that it?, is it so strange?, well yes it is, something feels right and I believe BMD's professionalism has rubbed off on everyone. People who read my messages know how I slate the people who constantly slag everything Leeds do and call themselves fans, by calling them the crap brigade, well even these people have thinned out. Leeds fans where ever you are I seriously believe we have something here, OK we have been here before I know that, but something is grabbing me inside. Yes I did like NW at the beginning but looking back the way he talked about the club and board, you could sense things were not right.
My message is let's get this show on the road, it will have hiccups we all know that, but 35,000 inside ER will help tremendously, let's back everything BMD does and be positive, don't get too down if we start slowly, this league is there for the taking.
Well that's me for now, well done to you people who have joined the true supporters from the crap brigade.
Kevin Leeds 50 years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2013 11:12:18
Given a million to spend this week I would rathet have had Vaughan or beckford and mcgugan than Murphy and hunt! Any thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

You might not say that by the end of the season. Murphy is very highly regarded by everyone who's had anything to do with him. Hunt works his nads off by all accounts, creates a lot of chances for team mates and whilst his own record ain't great, it's not that bad. This brings me on to Beckford. Bit of an enigma in my eyes, sometimes unplayable, sometimes anonymous and the latter is getting more and more frequent these days.

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts are that you are silly, the players we have brought in (murphy, smith) are young and hungry and very talented, hunt also has the experience to guide some of these upcoming stars.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mcgugan is worse than Beckford for throwing the toys out of the pram and sulking. yes they're both quality players, but can be very lazy.

Agree0 Disagree0

You dnt seem to have thought about wages? just cus mcgugan was free dnt mean he wnt b on a lot of wages so your point is not valid

I think rhe relevant saying is you get what you pay for! Quality always costs that little bit more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like it will either be Chris Forrester or Mackey-Steven. Both unproven at this level, both young with potential, typical McDermott signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quality is what you pay for? Sorry forgot Michu cost £2m and Torres cost £50m. there are exceptions mate.

haigh said there will be massive news in the next few days which he has been working on, I don't think it will be a player or players but more on the club side. i'd think it will be more investment or the buying back of elland rd/thorpe arch or both! my hunch would be elland road

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would be interesting to know if this investment is to buy back ER and it was funded by a brand for naming rights, would the fans be happy with the re-naming of the stadium?

MOT SussexLeeds

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be honest, I don't think I would really mind in the long run, I wouldn't be all that keen to begin with but I'd get used to it.
If it brought the team forward then that's the main thing.

Lets face it, it's a famous enough ground that it would still be known as ER, a bit like St James's.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy if some company had to sponser it for a while for us to own our own ground, it would still be Elland Road to us that would never change, plus during the Ridsdale era didn't we all vote to move ground anyway?

Lot of post on paddy Kenny on here. Many rekon he is good enough and should be kept. He doesn't command his area. Poor on crosses. Leaves too much to the defenders. Late in games as they get weary like everyone else they can't make all the clearances. They get the blame, Paddy smells of roses. Look at the amount of points dropped to high balls late in games last season. Enough to stop us getting to the play offs. Our second string keeper is much better at commanding his area. It takes the pressure off the defence. The cup results against better opposition bear this out. Kenny should go. Promote the number 2. Wages saved on PK together with a fee for him brings in another player, RW or width which we need. Then we start to convert winning positions to wins and defeats into draws. Hello premier league. BM must see this weakness as every other championship manager has judging by the amount of crosses we face late in games. A low cost way to strengthen Leeds United still further. Mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more and I do rate Ashdown but. Maybe worth investing in a young keeper who will be a regular for years to come. But your right the money to bring in a new GK could probably be used better.

To be honest we never should of let Kasper go. Not perfect by any means but very good.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the second poster, you re right we shouldn t have let Casper go, and if the fans or Casper had any say in it I m sure he d still be here now, but unfortunately we had a moneygrabber in charge then, the team was never his priority. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2013 12:55:28
You can't just say he cost us points because he also saved us points when we needed them so it works both ways

Agree0 Disagree0

I Think Casper Ankergren was a pretty good keeper. He couldn't catch, but his shot stopping was excellent.
how many keepers can say they kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford and against Rooney and Berbatov?
Though I think we should have snapped Alex McCarthy up when we had him on loan. I reckon we could of had him for a £1 million back then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kenny has clearly been our best gk and there is no way he will b leaving, ashdown yes and rightly so but kenny no chance, in a way I kinda hope he goes and joins another team in this division and then your see what a great gk he is, very easy to blame loses on goalkeepers but the main reason we lost a lot was our terrible defence, peltier was shocking to start with but he ended up being 1 of our best and pearce just hasn't had a good year lees is good but people turn him to easily and white well iv no idea why he's a defender as all he does is run

Agree0 Disagree0

Etched across my mind are the many visions of Kenny flapping about under crosses and the ball in the back of our net. PK couldn't catch a cold or punch a bus ticket. Yes our defence was poor but young defenders need to have the confidence in their keeper. PK dosent give them much to be confident about. He also needs to shift that spare tyre he's carrying. Probably the reason he can't get off the ground. Mot
