If it's to be an Englishman I'd like Glenn Hoddle

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You'll be one of the very few then, I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoddle is a quality coach who plays the game in the right way. Why do people only consider the same old faces who are already on the managerial roundabout?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoddle is an excellent coach but as he is in america I can't see him attending an interview with MC tomorrow - Would love it to be Steve Clarke but MC would need an interpreter to know what Clarke said

Agree0 Disagree0

If Hoddle was as good as you all think he is, then he would be managing a premiership side?

Or a championship side?

Or a league 1 side?

Do I need to go on?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoddle could still be interviewed while he's in the States. Ever heard of videoconferencing? Slightly - or more than slightly - weird idea though .

Agree0 Disagree0

Cellino said he was meeting three British coaches not video conferencing so Hoddle is a non starter as far as I'm concerned

I don't wish to sound rude or unduly disparaging, but why on earth would MC choose an unknown nonentity like Hockaday and entrust him with a task and responsibility of this magnitude?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jun 2014 07:10:01
He will be cheap and there will be little pressure as every media outlet and fan will write him off instantly. That could work in his and our favor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really the right criteria (cheap & under no pressure) upon which to select a coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 13:33:34
Really BC? Money is a factor at our football club due to stuff which is well documented and managers who were expected to do better have failed due to pressure of succeeding! MC is exploring the formula that will work and this option would cause me to think too. From what I heard Hockaday is a good "coach" of players but is not good tactically in games. Of course we need both. I think Hoddle is the best fit.

First time posting but read all the time but didn't think anything of it last weekish but does anyone know if G Mc lives around Harrogate way as he was in Kwik fit near the Stray getting sorted out? Never said anything or thought anything about it till I started reading on here so thought I would throw it in. Maybe 2+2 making 5 but who knows. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I believe he does live in harrogate

Massimo Cellino has sold Cagliari to Tomasso Guilini for €45m after rejecting the American's whose bid was allegedly made up to raise the value of Cagliari.

Newcastle have denied Cellino's claims regarding a bid for Ross McCormack but remain interested as well as Celtic, Leicester and West Ham.

Steve Clarke, Chris Hughton and Dave Hockaday will all be interviewed for the 'head coach' role next week.

Leeds will not sign any players until a new coach is appointed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Like your inclusion of Steve Clarke, but what about Neil Lennon he supposedly got something lined up and I don´t think it is a row of canary´s. Leeds is would be a bigger challenge. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a Lennon fan myself. I like Clarke, Hoddle or McAllister.

05 Jun 2014 20:32:08
Eventhough it was bad news to see the first deal fall through regarding the takeover of Cagliari by an american investment group, Cellino has said he has agreed to sell them to thr former Inter Milan board member Tommaso Giulini and that the sale is imminent.

MOT!

Following the British coach revelation my money would be on Steve Clarke. I for one would love this appointment, I would also like Mckay, but he isn't a coach so I can't see that one happening.
Thoughts anyone?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Steve Clarke or Chris Hughton would both do a good job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Norwich couldn't wait to get rid of him, got em relegated and all despite pinching our best players, Clarke or Hoddle would be my choice, or Malky.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2014 19:01:59
When Cellino says he wants an Englishman for the job i'd imagine he means British/Irish. Mackay, Karl Robinson, Hughton or my personal favourites Hoddle and McAllister should all have a chance. The last two I believe would enjoy working in the way Cellino wants to implement. Him manager with a coach for purely football work. Could be exciting times with either of those two as coach. Passing, attacking football will be the order. Just hope if Macca gets the job he brings in a proper defensive coach straight away! MOT.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2014 20:20:57
Hoddle?

I thought you were serious for a minute till I saw that name.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh Hoddle! Why not? Proved he's a top class coach so I don't see why he can't do the job for us. Would definitely have the respect of the players, plays good football, still has his finger on the pulse and has got shot of that Eileen bird! My top 3. Macca. Hoddle. Davis(crewe).

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry leeds4alongtime I have to agree with corkwhite, despite been barking mad I believe hoddle would do a fantastic job although for me I hope it's Clarke or Hughton.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2014 21:03:13
Hoddle would top my list. Just can't see it happening.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2014 21:04:25
You can't go back (McCallister), Hoddle is away with the fairies and we are not exactly overcome by the last product from Crewe. If it's an English coach Cellino is after I think Hughton, Steve Clarke or Malky McKay (in no particular order).

Agree0 Disagree0

Last post lads tonight. Believe me we don't want Steve Clarke as new coach. i'm not doing a Jeff, but I know Clarkey. He is basically a coach for the training ground and that's it. Number 2 at best. He is a fairly dull character with little or no sense humour and i'm starting to feel bad now slating the poor geezer! Believe me, even though his job at WBA surprised me, he is not the man to be a HEAD COACH of Leeds. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2014 18:45:56
well I am a big enough man to admit when I am wrong, and boy oh boy were my deductions wide of the mark, going by what our esteemed leader said today.Firstly apparently ross is not only staying and large bid rejected but he is happy to do so.Secondly we are going to have an English coach and not an Italian as I surmised.thirdly I just thought survivors comments harmless attention seeking, but then again we do notes what does not get let through.Alli can say is I am glad I am not a betting man.Maybe I should predict we will struggle this season and then we will walk away with the league. So in light of recent changes it looks like our team will be built round ross with probably another striker to ease the goal scoring burden, a winger, a midfield playmaker, and a central defender to marshall our leaky back line.I can see a couple more going like peltier and Norris. As for the coach I would like to see malky McKay I think he has got a lot to give and will want one over on his former employers to boot.To be honest I don't have a clue as to whom Massimo wants to boost ous squad, I just know the spine of the team needs strengthening, there are lots of good options out there the difficulty is blending them into an effective unit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2014 20:34:36
Not sure, if the Ross rumours to NC are all rubbish (as they have been rubbished by NC on numerous sites/ press)then MC might be trying to generate interest from other clubs!?! Perhaps it's all a ruse and he will leave but only at a price closer to MC's valuation! This said, with the profit that can be made with elevation to the top tear and given the cash that MC has already splashed then maybe the two year plan could be brought forward and we will see some serious movement once the latest finance fiasco has been resolved - here's hoping!

Just a couple of conspiracy theories:

1. Cellino fabricates the buyout of Cagliari, to assist with getting permission to extend the stadium. I understand that he has struggled with the local authorites. They have agreed to extend now, so either he will retain the club or it will be valued more.

2. Haigh's charges are raised by GFHC with the assistance of MC in order to have the current court case with regards to owed funds thrown out of court, or to hold no merit.

Hope this gets posted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Interesting theories ds, but I doubt the buyout would be fabricated due to the legal implications and there were 2 bidders, the fall out would be huge. I think GFH are tidying up and it all smacks of more smoke and mirrors. Until this winding up oreder is sorted I don't see anything happening apart from rhetoric, speculation and counter speculation

Agree0 Disagree0

"Haigh's charges are raised by GFHC with the assistance of MC in order to have the current court case with regards to owed funds thrown out of court, or to hold no merit."

And exactly how much do you think it would cost to bribe the whole of the Dubai legal system to go along with this stupid theory?

Agree0 Disagree0

It is nothing to do with bribes or corruption, they just have a different legal system to the UK. If I was a betting man I would say Mr Haigh will be found guilty regardless of whether he is or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stupid theory or not, its just a bit suspect that this happened so close to the court case for the winding up petition.

Plus agreed with Pome, diferent legal system. that should be clearly apparent with the fact that Haigh has been in custody for 17 days without charge. And it has been pointed out this is not a criminal case . so I can't figure that out.

I reckon Malky maky

Chris Hughton is in the frame and a strong contender. I think he would do a great job

Agree0 Disagree0

Since when was malky mackay English??

Agree0 Disagree0

If rumours on Leeds rumours now are to be believed, he's narrowed it down to either Gary McAllister, Chris Hughton or Dave Hockaday, and that Cellino has turned down a substantial sum for McCormack as he's happy to stay at Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever they are I don't care of they are tactically inept we are use to that but I truly hope they can call in better favors than the previous two managers.
we don't need dads army or journey men anymore!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see a top coach coming in, with mc record in Italy I doubt he will go for a big name and I reckon it will be a short contract aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackay is Scottish but I hope he considers British managers too

AGLIARI 5 JUN - The negotiations between Massimo Cellino and bottom line for the sale of Cagliari goes on. The guarantees Silvestrone, an emissary of the group stars and stripes (represented all'interested parties is Dan Meis) rossoblù interested in the club and

this was posted earlier,

the new Sant'Elia stadium. After the statements of Cellino, Silvestrone explains its position in a post just posted on Facebook. "We go forward - these statements regarding the deal - no one pulls out. ellis 32 this is a game (not of thrones) but of MONEY there will in time be a favourable out come. MOT

Financially it means very little as MC had already stated money from Cagliari sale would not be used to fund Leeds. However it has to be a distraction to him at a time when Leeds need his full attention

Eds why have you removed my post in response to Irish White's diary part three? Is it because I mentioned the J word? If so, this is ridiculous. it's clear I am having a laugh and should be taken in good humour. I think the PC brigade have gone mad on this site.

MM

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - What is it with you and your ongoing unhealthy infatuation with Jeff? You mention him in nearly every post you send in, it's not a dating site! Jeff has been removed from the site and can't answer back your childish gibberish. If you're not happy about it, tough, you can be removed quite easily as well. That's the matter closed.}

A little harsh of a response ed. Are you trying to gain more users on this site or repel people from writing on it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm trying to get people back to talking about Leeds - you know, the reason the site was started in the first place.}

Blimey that told you mick

Nice one ed. this is site is about Leeds Utd, not individuals. yes it's a banter site site but it was starting to get personal between people.
what was that saying " the past is the past, let's be united"

Remind me never to upset Ed 007 lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I can understand that ed but a response of less magnitude would have sufficed.
It sounds silly but I kind of came on here to have a giggle at what MR J had to say, its a pity people took it to heart.
Anyway, with or without it's still a great site.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We removed Jeff because all the nonsense was dragging the site down. It was obvious to Mick why his post had been removed but he still had to come back whining about why he isn't allowed to whine. It's been dealt with now and that's that. It's hardly our fault people can't act like adults.}

Ha nice one Mr Eds, the site was becoming a bit too much about the "greatest love story of our time" between the both of them, funny mind.

I am beginning to feel I know MC, just glad I don't have to do business with him, he is so up and down and always making big statements which us Leeds fans need to just smile to ourselves and take with a bit of a pinch of salt, that way people won't get upset.
MC will be better for us than our last 2 owners for sure! Keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

See you then

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Bye, I hope you and Jeff are very happy wherever you go to let your love blossom.}

Quite right ed. There's far too much silliness going on, this is supposed to be a site concerned with LUFC and not personal agendas.

TODAY HALF AN HOUR AGO!!

Yet another chapter in the story, surprise Cagliari. The president Massimo Cellino, in an interview published today by the newspaper L'Unione Sarda, made a decided step back from the sale of the company to the American investment fund represented by Luke Silvestrone:

"There is no fund to purchase U.S. Cagliari. I have not seen anyone from the meeting last Wednesday. has not been paid any deposit of ten million.
maybe searched for 'Who saw him?' (Silverstrone) ".

On Silvestrone Cellino: "I met him only because I was asked loudly by the fans. many in the Neighbourhood believed him. What credibility can a person applying for a passport for the United States only the day before leave? " MOT

Can someone explain why Lambert, an England and premiership striker is worth £4m whilst we seem to be asking closer to £8m for McCormack? Don't get me wrong, I'll take as much as we can get for him but these valuations have me confused.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Basically its their ages mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2014 10:20:01
Its not as clear cut as that. Teams want more money, teams willing to pay higher for a desired player. Players wanting to move and forcing the club to accept lower fee. Wages are a factor. Length of contract and age need factored in too. You can't just compare one transfer to another as a benchmark.

Diego Costa 32million. Andy Carroll 35million. Are the equals? No. Carroll goes for a high figure as they just recieved 50million for Torres so Newcastle inflated the Carroll price. Out of form Torres goes for 50mil as Ambrahmovic can afford it and he was his clubs desired signing so Liverpool inflate the price thus causing a knock on effect for the Carroll signing. that's just one example scenario.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm only guessing his contract is nearly up and that's why he's going for £4 mill, what I do know is Gerrard has been calling him since late last year when Lambert told a few people on merseyside he would love to play on home soil.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that lambert had less time to run on his contract and he is 32 years old. Does seem like a bargain for an England player though.
