Alright lads n lasses, it's Sunday I'm blotto (obvs) , fatty's sister is ignoring my advances agin (pmt) and I'm bored. Let's have some funny chants from the terraces. From the archives and without going too much into my pissed up memory banks I liked "does your boyfriend know you're here" away at Brighton and "you must have come on a skateboard" again with Brighton but at ER.

I remember many years ago, probably 40+ when the Lowfields Road stand stood on a mound of earth and the North East corner was still a dream in Manny Coussin's mind.

I cannot remember who we were playing but glancing to the left from the Kop, appearing from nowhere and standing on the earth mound next to the Lowfields was a large number of bus drivers and conductors resplendent in their regulation issued green macs and peaked caps. The conductors had their leather cash satchels hanging off their shoulders looking like facshist rent collectors.

All of a sudden, without any prompt, the chant came from the Kop as follows

Hello, Hello, Metro Agro, Metro Agro, Come and have a go at the Busmen Agro -Hello, Hello etc etc.

The chant went on for ages and then - all of a sudden they disappeared from the mound. They came and went like the Red Indians staging a ambush in a black and white Cowboy movie staring Alan Lad.

At full time, walking to the buses, what appeared to be smoke signals in the distant were actually plumes of diesel fumes from the numerous buses waiting to take the faithful back to the Calls and into town.

Happy Days

Metro Agro, Metro Agro.

Can anyone remember the first game back in the old First Division, Everton away? They must have been getting a right b**locking at half time as Nev Southall came out a good few minutes before anyone else and sat leaned up the goal post in front of our fans with "There's only one scruffy b**tard" ringing in his ears.

I wasn't there but it must have been live on tv.
What I can remember is when Southhall reacted like that after we had played so well in the first half, thinking, we might just have a decent side here!

I have to say I fear a little for Monk already. I am very happy with his appointment and think he will do a great job, however if his job hangs on promotion then I think he's a goner already.
In other years I would have said that with investment we had a good chance, especially with a coach as good as Monk. Just looking at who's come down and who didn't go up I don't think we will get close even if we have a great season.
The smart money is with Newcastle and Villa for automatic, leaving only one spot up for grabs. Look at the teams who failed in the play offs this year!

I think that Monk needs more than a year to get us up. playoffs would be great come May, then go from there.

Don't think Cellino has said it's promotion or bust, but he seems to change his mind every five minutes anyway. The teams that go down with big parachute payments don't always do well, though they clearly help to retain well paid players who don't mind dropping down a division.

I think any right minded fan wants to see progress with a proper plan and year on year improvement; if it takes an extra year so be it, as long as everyone's pulling in the same direction. We'll never get anywhere with knee jerk management and constant turmoil.

dont fear for monk if he does well (we are in or around playoffs he will stay) also smart money for me is villa being closer to relgation than going up. newcastle will walk it but noriwch will be good but not certain, villa do not worry me in any way.
