click ''agree'' if you cant wait for clayton to come back and for leeds to stop playing the long ball witch is clearly not working out. when we play on the floor the likes of clayton, snodgrass and even good skills from mccormack seem to break the oppositions defence on a regular basis where as playing the long ball to becchio normally ends up giving the ball away time and time again.
if leeds are to go up next season then warnock is the man to do it so get behind the team next season and hope we get some decent signings in the summer MOT!!!!

Believable16 Unbelievable5

Weve played longballs with clayton playing, hes pinging half of them lol but i see your point it gets frustrating watching them hoof it to luciano, it frustrates me watching him chuck himself to the ground, he tries it too much

Agree3 Disagree1

If i had a quid for every time the long ball lands on Becchio and he falls to the ground looking at the referee i would have paid off my season ticket within three games!!!

Agree6 Disagree1

We are a really good passing team not a long`ball team because when we have snodgrass dribbling with the ball on the right wing we normally end up with a goal a corner or a really good chance as he hardly gets tackled so we need to feed the ball to him more often rather than playing the ball back to lonergan who always smashes it up to becchio and hopes for the best and in my opinion it hardly works out.

Agree4 Disagree1

The long ball is a good ball to play but not all the time it should mainly be used when counter attacking from corners or or when we steel possession and catch them on the back foot but we just use it too often and make thing simple . we need someone to calm down our defenders and get them just to play to feet instead of the big hoof

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd sell Clayton this summer. He's really not all that.

the may 1st signing must be a big one as warnock mentions make harvey he badly need this signing to improve us and says he need to get it complete quick before other clubs go in .
my friend a palace st holder reckons is paddy mccarthy . good centre half solid , a leader CAN DEFEND ASWELL . he said he has seen meryn day there alot aswell

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I heard it's Paddy Kenny ...........Gj

Agree1 Disagree1

Its kenny or derry imo either or i dont mind both would improve on some of the rubbish we have got at the moment

Agree1 Disagree1

Who ever it is its our new captain for next season

i must say that even though we lost by 2 goals we actualy should have come away with atleast a draw after we defended well all match and brown was a rock and showed zak how to tackl. btw nice support by the leeds fans as they were the only thing that i could hear on the t.v and reading still wernt as loud as us when we were 0 - 2 down and reading are the home team. MOT hope we get prometed next year !!

Contracts set to end 2012
Darren O'Dea - On loan from Celtic
Alex Bruce
Michael Brown
Lloyd Sam
Ben Parker
Aidan White
Nathan Turner
Lewis Turner
Mikael Forssell
Mika Vayrynen (option of an extra year)
Maik Taylor
Danny Webber

Apart from O'Dea, Brown, White, Webber & the Turners I can't see the gaffer wanting to keep on any of them.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Maybe bruce as we would need cover

Agree1 Disagree0

Michael Brown also has the option of another year.

Considering we were down to ten men so early after the Reading players talked the ref into a red, and then three more yellows later. Gorks elbowed Becchio in the stomach and threw his arm into his face in the first half, Roberts smacks Robinson in the face and makes Bruce's nose bleed, and Hunt attacks Lonegran with a knee in the ribs yet no yellows (or reds) for Reading. I thought the ref had a very poor game. Still, Reading saw their first decent crowd of the season and were taught how to sing for their team.MOT

Believable6 Unbelievable3

I cannot believe how many reading supporters were leavint the ground before they scored or how quiet they were EVEN AFTER BEING 2-0 UP AND AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE?

EVERY ONE OF OUR PLAYERS WITHOUT EXCEPTION played well, Reading do NOT deserve promotion on that showing!

We are Leeds and always will be, well done you guys that made a noise, I never heard a murmer form the home fans

MOT FOREVER!!

Agree6 Disagree1

100% TRUE

Agree5 Disagree1

Dont get 3 points for singng the loudest!!! roll on the end of season,so we can sort out the carp we have?

Agree2 Disagree2

I dont care who got the 3 points, Leeds totally played well and reading and their supporters are total carp on todays showing?

Top of the table and they just sit there doing sod all, if that had been us we would all have been banned for running on the pitch, jumping, shouting or whatever, I have seen more life in a shop window full of dummies!

Agree2 Disagree2

Bruce has had nosebleeds for weeks, watching that replay the contact was minimal so didnt complain much about that but the elbow on robbo was shocking, i think this ref graduated from Stevie Wonders Refereeing School

why is it that most leeds fans comment about tom lees being so good hes cost us a lot this season and look at last game against watford with that slip late on in the game. we were so lucky that we didnt get punished there and we still didnt capitalise on the game and the crowd need to get behind the team at home aswel as we do away because we manage to grind out results away from home at time and IMO thats down to the crowd so next season all of u armchair fans need to start commiting to the team and be the 12th man

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Tom Lees is a Leeeds player in the making, I watched him score the own goal against Hull and then follow it up with a goal for us the other end!

Give this guy a break, he has a lot to learn, and a lot to offer!!

Agree4 Disagree4

Your actually saying lees is pants because he slipped .can't believe it . hes a very young player and probably wearing the wrong type boots at the time he slips ,just an accident .

Agree4 Disagree3

Lees is quality in the making, just like Batty, Smith and the other home grown talen, give the guy a break, or do you think you could be better?

Agree3 Disagree4

At the end of the day hes not a teenager so he should be doing better and hes not premiership standard.

Agree5 Disagree1

Reading were actually showering water onto the pitch right up untill kickoff, even their own players were sliding about on the pitch?

Obviously reading aint hit by the hosepipe ban most of us down south have then...

Agree1 Disagree1

He shouldve done better for the first goal, poor awareness but then again he shouldnt be playing RB, hes still got a lot to learn

Agree1 Disagree1

The lad is 20 years old, centre backs rarely get into their prime till 29/30, he's still so inexperienced for a centre back which leads to lapses in concentration and mistakes, give the lad a break and he'll slowly improve season upon season, a real star in the making.

As I have regularly pointed out Snodgrass is having a poor season with a few odd flashes. He cost us with a very bad miss against watford and today another sitter against Reading. What else did he do? Not a lot. Over rated but keeps looking one of our better players (although poor himself) because of the lack of quality around him. Someone posted that he was inispensible I disagreed then and I disagree now. He not bad at times but if we want promotion we need better. I have seen him home and away and generally remain unimpressed for the most part.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Was just about to post something similar myself. To add to that he has cost us goals from counter attacks due to his poor delivery from set pieces and he is supposed to be our captain and you expect a captain to stand up and be counted when you have 10 men but he went missing.

Agree5 Disagree2

He look slow as well, could of been tired but brown was all over today and looked quicker!

Agree5 Disagree5

You people make me sick, the guy gives his all, gets all over the pich and stopped a vital block on goal, or didn't you see that?

Either support Leeds or go do one?

Agree5 Disagree2

How can he stand up and be counted when theres another 9 players out there having to do a job aswell, hes won us a lot of points this season especially in that run where he scored like 7 goals in 8 games or whatever it was

Agree3 Disagree1

06 Apr 2012 16:09:57
Just been on the game and thought we fought well but only impressed by Bruce, McCormack and brown maybe Robinson too ... Don't have any idea why any manager would start Pugh on the left when you have webber who's way better and if needed roger can play on the wing too

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Bruce played a big part in the first goal, when the ball was played deep far post, it was only getting knocked back across goal, he stops and looks on. Schoolboy. Brown was excellent IMO

Agree2 Disagree2

He started with pugh and lees as wing backs with 3 centre halves which seemed to be working before the undeserved red

Agree1 Disagree2

Pugh played because he has more defensive quality's than webber .

Agree1 Disagree1

Every one of those guys did what they could today and Reading are totally flattered by the scoreline, they were sh*te, their supporters are sh*te and I seriously hope they don't go up based on that showing?

Their own supporters started leaving long before the game was finished?

Agree1 Disagree1

You cant base it on showings because if thats the case teams like Wigan wouldve been back in this division years ago, if they get a W, then it doesnt matter how they get it, we had a few results under SG where we have been rubbish but still won, works both ways

Agree0 Disagree1

unlucky leeds defended well with 10 men, ive been saying it for years we shouldve signed Le Fondre back when we was in league one

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Totally agree matey- I posted a couple of times in the summer here that he was worth a punt as he was never going to go for the £1m Rotherham wanted.
Not sure how much he went for but I seem to remember £500k maybe it. Shame

Agree1 Disagree0

Le Fondre did only one thing in the whole game, and tyo be honest I could have scored from there with my backside, he was carp the whole gme, didn't even know he was on the pitch till he stood on the goal line and chested a ball into the net?

Why on earth would we want a player that disappears for 89 minutes of a game and pushes in a ball from 2 inches out?

You should either get behind our players who gave their all and held Reading out for 85 minutes or go support someone else...

Agree1 Disagree2

The whole game??
he came on as a late sub lol, thats why you never saw him.

Agree2 Disagree0

I really wonder if some people on here understand football - the team that scores most goals wins the game.

The whole point of a player like Le Fondre is to pop up and score simple goals. Tap in or 30 yard screamers, THEY ALL COUNT FOR ONE!

Maybe you're too young to remember Allan Clarke - he did it for us about 30 times a season, year in year out. Players like that are worth their weight in platinum.

Agree1 Disagree0

2nd reply i was simply stating we shouldve signed him years ago, doesnt matter how he scores goals, they all count, id love to know how stating that ive been a fan of le fondre and we shouldve signed him makes me any less of a fan, i wasnt slagging off the team either they defended well

if anyone should go support someone else its you because you clearly didnt watch the game since he came on in the 70th minute so he cant have been rubbish for the WHOLE game, he gets into the right places at the right time and puts the ball in the net

Agree1 Disagree0

And about AC comment, im only 20 but i know why he was called 'sniffer'

Agree0 Disagree0

And also 2nd reply did you not see his 2nd goal, brilliant awareness and skill to beat 1/2 defenders and a goalkeeper to the ball and score

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe the reason he 'DISAPEARED' was that for the first 80mins of the game he was running up n down the side line waiting to come on! 10 mins on pitch n 2 goals does it for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean 3rd reply guys.
Hate posters who say support someone else if they differ in opinion. To the third reply I say our slogan in marching on TOGETHER lest you forget that's what Leeds is all about- maybe you follow another team already!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ref no more yellows left. Some poor challenges from Reading going unpunished. Lees seriously out of his depth at Right back. Bring on the clear out and new faces for next Season.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Beckford was hit from behind every time he went for a ball, the minute he fought back he got booked, the referee was totally sh*te.

How could he send Zak off for not even making contact with a player and yet allow Pugh to stay on the pitch for three seriously bookable offences?

That ref needs to take a serious look at himself, even Bechio commited a 'headlock' in our penatly area without even being warned, right in front of him?

Maybe I need some stronger (beer) glasses....

Agree0 Disagree0

I meant bechio not beckford, just wishfull thinking - lol!

Agree1 Disagree0

Its Becchio

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Apr 2012 15:25:47
its fair to say leeds are useless. i know we had ten men, but our football is embarrassing. we need players who can receive the ball in to feet. because all we do is punt to becchio and hope for the best. Laughable!

cant wait for the season to end. SICK OF IT! {Ed020's Note - hardly fair, they've been quite good i'd say considering. and they are playing against an in form team}

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Have you been watching the same match?,we made a good side look average and with a bit better finishing could have won it,well done NW and the boys, great battling performance.

Agree8 Disagree1

Becchio just spend his time on the floor looking for frees instead of fighting the cause shadow of himself theses days.

Agree4 Disagree4

We defended well up until the last 10

Agree2 Disagree1

First poster spot on. Even more applicable to home games, where NW has one tactic = Hoof it down the middle. Can't really judge the Reading game where the ref was intent on booking every Leeds player. Game over after 12 mins and damage limitation the m.o.
Against Derby it'll be "hoof it" yet again and the same result. Still going though.....

Agree2 Disagree3

Need to be giving ball to mccormack and snoddy more

Agree1 Disagree0

If you think leeds are useless, I'd suggest you may not have been watching the same game as me, we were down to 10 men and almost beat Reading, the score totally flattered Reading and even their own fans were leaving the ground before they even scored?

You need to seriously look at why you support my team, because we can well do without idiots like you who didn't appreciate the sheer effort those 10 guys put in today!

Go do one...

Agree2 Disagree1

Rose tinted view - they battered us and we nearly nicked it on the counter. At that point 62% of the game had been played in our defensive third. Get real.

Don Goodman is the most biased, anti-Leeds United commentator I have ever heard - and that's saying something! The amazing thing is, he hails from Leeds! He started his career at Bradford City - does anyone know if we rejected him as a kid or something? There must be some reason.

Watching the game with the volume off!

MOT!!

Believable14 Unbelievable1

Fair enough Leeds have made some hard tackles, the majority of which won the ball, but Goodmans rant at Lonegran after Hunt's knee up at Lonergan in the first half was laughable, Gorkss' dirty elbows at Becchio or the Reading players surrounding the ref as much as possible."

Agree13 Disagree0

Who could disagree with the first comment?

Agree7 Disagree0

You obviously aren't old enough to remember trevor Boring (brooking) then?

He absolutely hates Leeds, I remember when we were once about 5-0 up against Southampton, saying "Leeds are playing their usual boring style of football"

Boring, I like, if we are 5-0 up.....

Agree0 Disagree4

Unfortunately I'm definitely old enough to remember Brooking. He was never particularly anti-Leeds, he was just always very biased in Wet Spam's favour.

My point is that Goodman more than obviously hates Leeds. Every time he is on Sky for a Leeds game he is the same. He shouldn't be allowed to cover our games, it's ridiculous. His "NO NO NO NO NO" speech when Lonergan was taken out in mid-air, and the ref correctly awarded a free-kick, was absolutely scandalous. At that point I just had to mute the volume. He's a disgrace. {Ed003's Note - Nobody can get anywhere near Gary Birtles for 'worst commentator' not even Goodman }

Agree3 Disagree0

I'm not talking about "worst commentator", I'm talking about "most anti-Leeds commentator".

Both Birtles and Goodman are pants in general.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Apr 2012 14:40:08
That's more like Leeds hard in the tackle. Brown is immense today. Like David Batty of old

06 Apr 2012 13:15:28
Not much of a team change then?? thought Nunez or Paynter might start, at least Thompson is getting a chance. Gj

Believable3 Unbelievable2

And gets sent off.

Agree4 Disagree0

Atleast Thompson will gain experience from been sent off ,i think he just wanted to prove himself and got it horribly wrong. thats inexperience for u

Agree3 Disagree1

Actually the ref got it wrong, Zak never even made contact with the player, unlike Pugh who should have been sent off three times, based on Zak;s tackel,,,,

This link says it all...

Clubs by wage as % of turnover table
http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj633/TimPM/TheScratchingShedChampionshipFinances10-11fig4.png

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Just a thought but I wonder if the figures include wages paid to players on loan from other clubs, if that is accounted for differently it might not show up and it was Grayson's preferred way of spending!

Agree0 Disagree0

No - these figures are from the published accounts and show all player expenditure. And what makes you think Grayson preferred loans? With that kind of budget did he really have a choice?

The fact remains, whether or not you Larry haters like it, that he was getting two points a game out of the same players that Warnock is only managing one point per game from.

He did a good job with no resources and you people calling for his head have now got your comeuppance.

I'm not anti-Warnock, I think he's a good bloke who, if properly backed, will get us up, but I still don't understand Grayson's sacking given the reality of his budget and I'll be surprised if Warnock gets what he wants in the summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

We need to move on from Grayson, he did what he could, and the only two managers who stand out in history are the great 'Don' and Wilkinson, hopefully next season I can add Warnock to that pairing.............

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but we can only really move on from Grayson if we learn the lessons from his time at the club. Grayson was blamed for not getting the right players in but the accounts very clearly show that his hands were tied.

The great thing about Warnock is that he has nothing to lose by speaking his mind. He's retiring in 2013 no matter what and he doesn't need the money. Grayson didn't have that luxury.

My point is that we need to lay the blame for failing to get to the premiership firmly at Bates's feet. He hasn't used OUR MONEY in the way he should. Selling season ticket receipts for the next two years for £5 million to fund the development of a half empty ground for example. What's the point?

Also, DOL got us to the Champion's League and UEFA cup semis. F*cked up in the end but deserves a mention.
