Vierra gave the ball away too often. He needs to know that giving the ball away needlessly is a sin and will do huge damage as the team is shaping for an attack and suddenly are caught out as in a flash they must get a defensive position as Vierra gives the ball away.

He did but so did a lot of them
He worked very hard in midfield.

I have to agree, it is pointless working so hard to win the ball back to then give it away. The majority of times it dragging him out of position which left Bridcutt isolated, it pulled Bridcutt further into to the midfield area leaving Brown with acres to run the game.

For me (I am sure i will get hate from the haters) we need a ball player alongside Bridcutt. Bridcutt can do the dirty work all day but we must play Phillips alongside. Yes he is a confidence player but if his first few touches are good he's ok, behind Hernandez he is our best passer of the ball.

You can't play Bridcutt and O'Kane, it pushes O'Kane to far forward for his ability level. The ball is not his friend. Then Viera needs to seriously work on his distribution, he is young and i am sure it will come but right now Monk needs to take him out for a few games.

I see your point regarding Phillips. He can pass but never seems to have confidence to do so in a positive way.
Too often just goes through the motions imo.

Anyone else feeling a bit deflated after yesterday's result?

100% Wagner gets away with it and Monk gets a ban. He did the same thing against Derby this season, but got away with it as he's Klopp's mate.

Yep he even tries to look like him and behave the same way he should be charged with assault and inciting a riot.

Its not fair being behind in time. Everything i wanted to say has been said. Just so i donr feel left out
Impressed wirh huds. Deserved to win because they were quicker. More precise. Tackled harder and scored more goals.
Their manager is a duckhead!
Thought vierra, green, bridcutt and ayling and pedroza or whatever his name is played well
Not impressed with pontus, beradi, douk or dallas. Need to start with okane and ped instead of them two.
Too many stray passes and silly mistakes. We played ok but not our best day at office.
Only one game though.
And yes wood did score and no he can't play football and yes he did run his socks off.

Your criticism of Wood is a tad boring Ausman. Didn't think he had a great game yesterday as his hold up play was not great but the only chance he got yesterday he scored from.

Yes I know Notts, and thereby lays the dilema. IF he keeps up a goal a game then I will forgive him but woe betide his run dries up. I will be the first to put him on a Chinese ebay and try to get 15mil.

07 Feb 2017 10:26:39
Wow, Leodis so with 16 games left you expect him to score nearly 40 goals this season. I would want more than ÂŁ15m for a striker that does that.

07 Feb 2017 20:44:18
Well said Notts. Even though a totally different type than Lineker he scores just the same. And like lineker he's not a good player but the lad always proves his worth in goal scoring.

Hopefully Pedraza and Barrow start against Cardiff with instructions "just get at them. Take them on" We must just accept that they will sometimes be blocked but if we have Roofe Hernandez and Wood following up then all sorts of panic could ensue in the Cardiff box. Thankfully Monk has sorted the defence so maybe now is the time to be more adventurous and creative going forward and a plan of go get it and give it to Pablo should apply.

Well it appears monk was the instigator according to media reports.

Of course he's to blame, he shouldn't have been in his own technical area when that nice bloke that writes operas ran into him. He deserves a lifetime ban, and LUFC should be docked just enough points to ensure relegation.
It's only Leeds innit.

06 Feb 2017 11:15:44
Of course he is! We all saw him run out of his touchline area and down the pitch, then aggressively grab Wagner, who stood with his hands in his pockets.

Yesterday's news! Only fit for chip paper, they'll be stirring up doo dah that's not there about Warnocks impending visit to Elland Road, even criticism of it gives it airtime!

I'd much rather focus on how we return to winning ways and maintain the winning mentality. Brilliant post by Hess re our lack of creativity and how Hernandez can blow hot and cold.

For my own part, I would really like to see us take a more attacking mentality from the off, like we did against Preston, Barnsley etc dare I say like Huddersfield 🙈.

Hernandez is a very talented footballer who, on his day, is a match winner. However in order to produce his best the team has to control the mid field for the most part. When we are having difficulty and living off scraps he is largely anonymous and is not the player who is going to help you wrest back control. On those occasions its almost akin to having ten men. He dead ball delivery is excellent but again that can suffer if the team is 'under the kosh'. This is why he had such a variable reputation at Swansea. - he could be brilliant one week and 'missing' the next. At the moment we are too defensively minded due to the players we have. I don't have a problem with that as it is infinitely better than it was but if we are to improve we need to strengthen in the creativity department. It's the reason why Wood is so isolated. Vierra and Bridcutt are very solid in mid field but passing and creative distribution is not their strong suit. Dallas and Doukara are not the best wide men I have seen but do a decent job most of the time but unfortunately not usually simultaneously. Our major problem at the moment is that against good sides we rarely translate ball winning into sustained control and good options in the final third. Getting forward and picking the right pass with colleagues getting into good areas is not what we do consistently well. That's the next step up but I can't see it with the personnel we have at the moment unless the two new acquisitions can change all that. One final worry! . I have an idea that for at least one week in the not too distant future Ayling and Cooper are going to be our centre back pairing. That could be interesting. We are doing much better than we have done for a long time but there is still a lot to do.

So who do play instead of him then? He's our most creative player by far. I don't like how easy we get yellow cards, yet opposition are allowed to elbow and kick Hernandez without any repercussions.

This Is why we have players like roofe and pedraza, play offs will come I wouldn't worry, were a creative team, but in displays like huddersfield and games like that we can't throw everything at it all guns blazing because it could have been 3/ 4-1. Good result if you ask me.

No sam not a good result, predictable but not good. Would have liked to have seen winger on from start, not counting Dallas. But we lost so on to next lot of games. I think if we can string 3 or 4 wins together, which we are capable of, we will still be in their battling for 2nd.

Can see Brighton faltering a bit now and Reading are not worrying me. Udders though are on another roll and need pegging back. Newcastle have been lucky in a few of their games this season and are due some bad luck. Chasing pack have a bit to do so confident of play off spot. Automatic place depends on others results now so onwards and upwards.

Dog botherers have QPR and Rotherham, both away, in their next 2 games. Hopefully their confidence will be taken away when Citeh roll over them in the cup.
Readin look like they've got a make-or-break February with some hard to call games, but Brighton should, on paper, win all their games I think.
As for us, definitely 3 very winnable games and then the wendies which I'm not sure about.

II may be been ultra-critical, I think we are going to rue not signing a centre forward.
Woods was awful again yesterday, yes he is scoring goals but I do wonder how many goals a better striker would have got. His hold up play is non-existent, when we are under pressure he gives us no outlet at all. Hernandez was poor yesterday, I think the reason for that was that he did all Wood’s work, Hernandez looked exhausted. The last think you want is your most creative player doing Doggy’s between the defenders because your striker can not be arsed.
Also our wingers have had a lot of criticism for their poor delivery, I really do not think that Wood’s helps this. He never makes a run to the near post, in front of the Centre half and keeper allowing them to just drive the ball low and hard. Almost every single time he peels off to the back post, this means the cross has to be perfect. There was a couple of occasions that we got down the right and players were stretching to provide a cross and Woods just peeled off to the back and the ball never beat the first defender, the one occasion he did go near we ended up with a corner.

I totally agree, re Woods, if you study his all around play it leaves a lot to be desired. At the moment I have to bite my tongue as the man is finding the back of the net consistently but the question is how many would a good striker be getting and when he dries up will he be worse than just a passenger.
Just because there are now two productive wingers does not mean that they will have to throw high crosses into the box. Hopefully they will get to the by-line and pull balls back to incoming attackers.

Got to agree. Hard to knock him when scoring every game but how many chances has he created for others. Assists are a big part of strikers game. Think he is too reliant on others to create space and put the perfect ball in. No doubt he is deadly from six yards out but lacks the guile and trickery of a top striker. I honestly think he is a reason why we are not getting a lot of goals from midfield as we are playing to him and he is not always in the right place. never seems to pull defenders out of position. And a lot of his goals have come from deflections or defensive mistakes saying that he is scoring. If we play with two wingers it should work better.
