Not a fan of Scottish Football, but I have just watched Aberdeen v Rangers, a good game that was in the balance till injury time. Then Defoe gets his one chance and finishes it. I am sure he could have done a job for us.

He did a job on us when he played for Spurs. Always rated him. He must be going grey now though. Would he be fast enough for Bubs?

The first few yards is due to quickness of thought. Finding space in the box and hitting the target doesn't require blistering pace. I do take the point that the striker in our team is expected to run the channels.

Feath, totally agree with the first six words of your post! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Have West Brom been made to play behind closed doors? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ There's a lot being made of Baggies players paying for their fans to travel to ER, I could have sprung for a minibus πŸ˜‰.

Apparently the super computer has predicted how the championship will finish.
Yellow spuggies . champ
Mighty whites . promo
Blunts . p. offs
Bags . p. offs
Smoggies . p. offs
Rams . p. offs
I'll take that now please!

They've got the top 3 the wrong way round, BRING ON THE CHAMPIONS 😎.

I hope their right. Bet Brom in top 2.

06 Feb 2019 21:32:29
Erm, before George corrects me, Top 2 not top 3 😁.

Agree1 Disagree0

Was going to say staff- reversing the top 3 would see us in the same place.

The line up for me, on Saturday would involve dropping Ayling and either playing Alioski deeper however MB is strong willed (stubborn) and determined (inflexible) so I am not too sure about Alioski and do not for one minute think that he will drop Ayling, even if we do have a suitable replacement in Shackleton. I also believe that Roofe is due to click again after his dry spell and would seriously consider two upfront but cannot see this happening due to the two character traits highlighted above. If he wants to attack how about 3-1-4-2 (without the ball 3-3-2-2)

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2019 20:58:02
Not going to happen, 4-1-4-1 or 3-3-3-1.

07 Feb 2019 12:37:56
Think your probably right Al. How about Roofe in the No 10 role?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2019 21:28:41
I reckon he'd be just fine at No 10, he's got the close ball control and should know when to play the passes.

Looks like it could be Baby Shack in there now 😊.

It would seem that only the "spygate" issue is the only item on the FL's board meeting agenda today. The media, as ever biased against LUFC, appear to have forgotten Brum and their breaking of an actual, real rule, namely their FFP record.

EFL have always had a soft spot for Birmingham. Carson Yeung was jailed for money laundering and was still considered fit and proper whilst residing in jail.

Agree4 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 21:01:33
Ha ha, yeah I had forgotten that 😊 they also told them, during the close season, that they couldn't register new players, but they let them have Pedersen? They're not far behind Millwoe for being FL faves.

06 Feb 2019 15:19:19
Has our new No1 really set the world alight?

For me he hasn't done anything better than BPF has done so far this season.

Given the massive fanfare over his arrival I expected a bit more than conceding 4 times. Everyone was saying he was great because he came from Real Madrid but i could probably do the 3rd keeper job there if i needed to and i have no spatial awareness. He has only played about 70 actual matches in his career.

Were we oversold on this arrival?

06 Feb 2019 15:34:22
Bit harsh to be slagging him off already in it!
80% of the team would have been binned this year if most would have had there way.

Agree9 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 16:15:23
Def a bit harsh Alf. He was second choice until the start of this year and Teams like Real Madrid don’t take a wild punt on their 2nd choice goalie who could be playing in champions league and needs to give them a genuine alternative goalie. He is getting used to the league and playing behind a new defense. Which of the goals would you blame him for? Kept us in the game against Rotherham and gave us the platform to go on and get the three points.

Agree5 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 16:19:52
He was only third choice because the first and second choices are 2 of 4 best keepers in the world, so not bad company 😊.

06 Feb 2019 17:13:19
Conceded 4 yes, 1 was a worldy, other 3 deflections.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 17:29:45
He has only played 2 games Alf, hardly had chance to set the world alight. No real chance to save 3 of the 4 goals (Rotherham goal and first two against Norwich) .

06 Feb 2019 19:30:35
I watched him warming up an hour before kick off for the U23 game at Tadcaster. there were 4or5 players shooting at him continually and he was making some stunning saves and catching a lot of then. not palming them away!

06 Feb 2019 16:24:17
Not really a problem whenever he announces the team, it's virtually the same every week, if it wasn't for injuries we'd still be putting the same 11 out 😊.

{Ed001's Note - just an honest one of a good solid pro and why he was not picked up by a Prem club before Newcastle stepped in. He is 31 and has performed well for them, but there is a reason why he plays well for them and perhaps wouldn't for someone else.}

06 Feb 2019 15:35:54
Yeah, I can see what you're saying, surprised Burnley didn't have a punt on him, Mr Dyche seems to like collecting goalies 😊.

Believe it, or not, Adam Forshaw is currently joint top in the league for pass accuracy, at 88.2%!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2019 12:15:55
Yeah, saw that. I wonder what his losing the ball and interception % is?

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Feb 2019 12:16:27
It is not suprising because he is a good passer of the ball. The issue with Forshaw is that he has been taking risks to beat a player in his own third. Further up the field Forshaw can take these risks as the reward will outweigh the consequence of failure.

about 75% are sideways or backwards so hardly surprising. will Biesla be brave this wk or same old same old. it would be nice to score first for a change, think shack for Ayling has to happen at some point, Phillips needs to be back in the 11,I presume Bamford will be bench again, and surely Izzy Brown can do 15/ 20 from bench if required, there's times we need goals and don’t have a great deal on the bench.

Will never happen but my Saturday Team:

Kiko, Shack, Jansson, Cooper, Douglas, Kalv, Pablo (from the right) Klich, Brown, Alioski, Bamford.

Options from the bench being roberts, forshaw, roofe, clarke, ayling, berardi, BPF, to me is a very strong team.

I would like to see MB throw a curve ball and try a change of formation v boro. Just in case they av sent their own spies out lol!
I know he won't as he has his tried and trusted methods before you all shout back at me and yes we are joint top of the league so nobody can argue with him but i would really like to see Bamford and Roofe start as forwards together. 2 upfront together now that would be interesting! We have played 1 up front all season so boro would get a big shock and we have all this possession with not enough shots on goal, so somet like this.
3-5-2
Gk Cassillas.
3 CB - Ayling Janssen Coops
WIng B - Shackleton Alioski
Hold M - Phillips
MM - Klich Forshaw
CF - Roofe Bamford
There would be a great bench of the likes of Pablo, clarke, douglas, halme, izzy, roberts, etc etc.
I very much guess it will be the usual 4-1-4-1 but i think Phillips definitely has to be back in. Bamford upfront and Roofe out wide perhaps?
MOT.

It’s not possession without shots it’s shots without goals.
We need to get more lethal in front of goal.
I don’t mind the idea of roofe and Bamford together but I do feel even though he is tall Ayling needs dropping. He has been caught on the ball far to much. I think we need as much pace as possible on the pitch to run their legs off them.
I don’t really fear Boro. I think West Brom are the best. With maybe us second and Norwich third. Sheff and hull could also cause a stir but neither as good as top three.
