Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Someone needs to tell Brian McDermott about Ryan Gauld from dundee utd. Just what we need, Real Madrid was said to be scouting him earlier last year and has been called the scottish messi with his dribbling skill. Would love him and mackay-Steven at Leeds, both young and promising and wouldn't require massive transfer fees. The lads only 17. Would be a great signing, just watch some of his games this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lets get some more Scots. Successful leeds teams always have atleast one scotsman.
e.g. Bremner Gray Lormier etc. Revie
McAllister Strachan - Wilko
O'leary had none and didn't succeed
Snodgrass - Grayson

It;s the Leeds United rule - Scotsmen + Leeds = success! This is because Scotsmen play with pride and passion.

Agree0 Disagree0

So We don't have a Scotsman then

Agree0 Disagree0

We'd never get Ryan Gauld in a million years. GMS is the one to go after though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think they were suggesting more scots rather than us not having any.

Lad looks impressive but contracted till 2017 and with everton, and real madrid scouting him I don't think he'd come cheap.

Dundee were doing alright league wise don't know if they'd let 'em go too easily either.

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't get Ryan gauld he said himself the other day that he wanted to move abroad we couldn't afford him anyway wishful thinking would be class and show some real intent by owners but takeover looks like the old ken bates ploy of saying takeover or investment before window then nothing happens we will see but ain't see nothing to get me excited yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

O Leary had Dom matteo!

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people write before they think i'm afraid ;(

Agree0 Disagree0

O'Leary didn't succeed? He got Leeds into the Chapions league. That's quite successful. Man U won't be that successful next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Ross McCormack not Scottish?

Agree0 Disagree0

DOL had David Hopkin also. Not amazing but was always solid in midfield.

Doesn't really matter who we sign, if you are a loyal true leeds fan you will follow and support the players manager and club no matter what! Yes it would be nice to be back in the big league but let's be honest Rome wasn't built in a day, it's been a long time and it's going to take a lot more , but we are leeds and we are a proud bunch MOT!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your right rome wasnt built in a day. It took as long as it will for us to get promoted again

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't mind the building, it's the shi** they play every week that's the problem!

Agree0 Disagree0

'Doesn't really matter who we sign'. it does, that is if you want to see a team in with a shout of PL football. Were all Leeds fans and loyal, that does not mean the club we support is in some way immune from criticisms for poor tactics decisions ect.

reading a lot of people slating BMCD on here, not trusting him with his transfer deals. I think people forget he was a scout at reading, they had a successful team and have found a load of quality players from lower leagues, lita, kitson, hunt, long, le fondre and many more. he should be given a few seasons to get his own team together because its tough with the budget he is given to assemble his own team. I hope we wrap up the cameron deal and he gets the best out of the young lad, I hear rumours of kevin phillips which could be a good deal, on and off the pitch! let's all just keep marching on together!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wouldn't be surprised to see K.Phillips joining us. A great striker who's scored everywhere he's played and he's free! BMcD keeps talking about wanting a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room Phillips could be his man. Looks like Stewart is a done deal. Wondering which other realistic targets people would like to see us sign? A. LeFondre, N.Maynard are realistic. A few mid's could be G.Dorrans (bit expensive though) Scott Sinclair not getting any game time with W.B.A either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally Agree . let's not get carried away just yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like someone who is positive.Supported Leeds since early Revie years.Seen the Bad, the Good and the Fantastic.Love my Home Team and wear the shirt with pride .Good or Bad.Sign ALF and look at the 2 Scottish Kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

Richie Wellens could be that leader type too, I'm quite happy to sit January out and see what happens, even if a week in it seems like forever.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 18:50:32
Seen on ssn website that us and QPR are interested in Richie Wellens, who plays for Doncaster, as his short-term contract has expired. What do you guys think about this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would be great. he bossed the midfield for donny against us

Agree0 Disagree0

Was just reading that also, record is sound, even at 33 seems to be the kind of player that's need in midfield to boss the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 20:51:42
Wellens could be good. I think Larry wanted him a few years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 19:08:01
Strikers I'd be happy to see join the club:
Adam Le Fondre
Leigh Griffiths
Billy McKay
John Guidetti (loan)
Chris Wood.

All realistic and affordable targets I feel.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Said before guidetti got to be worth a look and ALF what about loanees on the wing gnarby arsnal a gary m s dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure about McKay.
No chance of Guidetti.
Woods - pricey.
ALF & Griffiths both good value for money.
Need service though.
Gnabry, Dorrens, Burke, Hoolahan players like these are realistic & urgently required.

Agree0 Disagree0

Villa are after Hoolahan though

Agree0 Disagree0

Gnabry will probably stop at Aresnal now Wallcott out

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 20:49:45
hoolahan isn't realistic and gnabry won't be able to leave now walcotts out

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2014 11:45:57
Guidetti should play for us, were only 30-40 miles from Manchester and were crying out for a striker + excitement. Cannot see a problem. Were always getting left behind

06 Jan 2014 18:41:22
It's all going Pete Wong. Our targets joining other clubs. Think the defeat to rochdale putting recruits off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2014 19:55:50
Are the offices at ER in some kind of tardis style timewarp (sorry don't do sci-fi)? Because everything takes so long - Bates gfh t/over - new t/over and every signing we ever make!Bmd spoke to a player over a week ago deal nearly done still no new player.I think they must still be using stone tablets and chisels in there?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 18:25:39
I would love to see ALF join us but failing that.
One of the best bargains out there is Stevie May.Would prob cost 1mill or less. 21 & knows exactly where the back of the net is. His goal to games ratio is 1:2 & he's played over 100 senior games.
Forget 3mill players like Wells (although I would love to see him at Leeds).I can't see us paying that kind of money for 1 player when we need to buy sensibly, considering the level of squad strengthening we require.
Also, surely Maynard & Dorrens are worth a shout.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just don't see it - why would we need forwards, they will never see the ball against the better teams. We need a new midfield urgently if we are to compete at the top end of the division. Ross & Smith will score if they get the ammunition and hopefully a new midfield may also find the net.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 17:33:41
There are a few shouts for Chris Wood going on at the moment but i'm not sure. His goals to games ratio is good but why has he only had 12 apps this season, is he injured or been injured or is he just out of favour. If he is that would seem odd as he only signed a year ago and the manager who signed him is still in charge.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's played 13 games this season, 9 from the bench. A few Leicester fans are saying he's still injured, while others think he might be going. Apparently he fell out with Pearson after going on holiday or something too. He's a good goal scorer at this level though and just what we need imo. With Phillips going to Leicester, it might make him available.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 15:41:35
Brian. Hijack the hull . Gradel deal! Ring him now! He is just what we need and us fans all need a lift! That would do the job nicely! Do it now! i'm sure he would come with the right deal. We are all sick of all the empty promises!
bob wakefield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Got a feeling we were his first option, but we couldn't afford to offer his salary. his agent has found a club who can.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Bob do we really want gradel back?
He deserted us for grass greener and he's been constantly injured since he left.
We need a winger but I think we need someone whos LEEDS through and through not a DESERT RAT ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with u andy

Agree0 Disagree0

I loved Gradel when he was here, but time to move on. Remember he put in a transfer request and I thought his attitude against West Ham, when he missed the peno, was appalling and he thought he was too good for us.

whats going on with paul green

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nowt mate he's just worse than the rest .

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually thought he was a good player last season, a lot better than tonge and brown who have both had more game time than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's injured

Agree0 Disagree0

Tonge worst player at lufc

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 19:02:43
Brown is worst player at club not tonge

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown is 36

Agree0 Disagree0

Varneys worse than tonge

Agree0 Disagree0

Kin Hell. you mealy-mouthed moaners really are something else. Yep - things haven't been going well just recently but when they pick up again (and they will), you'll be the same ones who are saying 'he's done really well' and 'he's playing out of his skin', etc. Get a grip and get off the Negative Express, lads.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather have Green than Austin

Agree0 Disagree0

Well green is injured so it won't be happening anytime soon

"Brown is 36"

Is that his age or number of bookings?

06 Jan 2014 14:39:56
lets face facts our squad is not good enough to mount a promotion push this season
lets stop all the talking I know and sympathise with positive fans after all the goings on in the last 10 years or so we are still big leeds fans and still the best supported club in england. but with a squad like ours we won't even finish top half of the table let alone playoffs. defeat to rochdale in the fa cup proved that but I for one am glad that we are out and concentrate on the league . hopefully by the end of jan I am proved wrong and by end of may proved totally wrong

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2014 17:24:12
Defeat to Rochdale only proves that we didn't turn up on the day. It is not a reflection of our current level. Overall the squad is obviously not good enough for play off's and it would take a lot of luck to qualify for top 6. I do believe however we are currently top 10 material just! and hopefully January will improve that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with above comment, we didn't turn against Rochdale and all over the Christmas period, but we are 8th in a very competitive league and still all to play for! Let's hope we sign some decent players and so what we are really made of . Super super super Leeds united .

Agree0 Disagree0

No we didn't turn up against rochdale but mmmm 6 points from 18.
yes we have a good current level.?

Ok well we can forget the return of Max Gradel as our Yorkshire rivals Hull City are in talks with him according to ssn, our club need to show more ambition in my opinion because we should of got him before any other club had a chance, I know he's an old player but no doubt he'd of done well for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2014 14:22:54
seems like hull city are in for max gradel we get stewart they get gradel I no which one I would rather have belly the white

Yeah I would rather have stewart signing gradel would just be like getting back with a ex very rarely works out the 2nd time around time to move on!

All seem good to have a little time spent on them.

Gradel to hull on all accounts. Gutted. Its on ssn transfer centre.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2014 13:43:58
Nathaniel Chalobah - Chelsea
Max Gradel - St Etienne
Johnnie Jackson - Charlton Athletic
Thierry Henry - New York Red Bulls
Oliver Norwood - Huddersfield Town
Cameron Stewart - Hull City
Nahki Wells - Bradford City
Adam Le Fondre - Reading
Jimmy Ryan - Chesterfield

All these are potential signings . Perhaps not Henry he's a golden oldie now :/

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arsene wenger wants ryo miyaichi to go out on loan. He could be what we need, he's a Japanese winger who is very quick and would provide creativity for smith and mccormack

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 12:44:26
In my opinion what we need:
Right winger, pace, creativity, skill: GMS - £1.2m approx.
Left winger, creativity, pace, skill: Alexandre Bonnet (Le Havre) £600k approx.
Centre midfielder, goals, passing, creativity: Ed Upson (Yeovil) £250k approx.
Goalscorer, powerful striker, good link up play: Chris Wood - £2m approx.
GK, young, talented: Sam Slocombe (Scunthorpe) - £400k approx.

Approx being my estimation of their value.

If the new owners have money, that's who I'd go for.

Sell:
Varney, Brown, Norris, Ashdown, Drury, White.

Loan:
Dawson, Poleon, Thompson, Cairns, Walters.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Some great shouts there. Bonnet's a decent player. can't see us pulling off a transfer for Chris Wood though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Varney, Brown, Norris, Ashdown, Drury, want to leave when they have contracts that don't run out till the summer and they are on better wages than any other club would pay

Agree0 Disagree0

Leicester are set to sign Kevin Phillips, hopefully that will make Wood more likely to leave.

George, I agree they aren't likely to go, but with the promise of first team football, maybe they'd prefer to go elsewhere. We just need some players off the wage bill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi I totally agree we NOT going to get any decent players in while we still paying the wages to our dead wood players but!!
Most the players you have mentioned are dead wood at other clubs?
Apart from Le-fondre I can't see any of these players that are puling any trees up.
Cumon leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

No, they're all starters for their teams, except for Chris Wood who's currently not in favour at Leicester. None of them are deadwood.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 12:12:45
Our pursuit of targets has to be hindered by the overwhelming level of players that are either deadwood or on vastly inflated wages to what they're worth, if we got rid of all these players I think we'd be in a better position to move on:
- Diouf
- Drury
- Pugh
- Ashdown
- Norris
- Hunt
- Varney
Probably over £50k of wages there!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Despite what people say teams in the championship and league one players would buy these players. I think we should go looking for swap deals for players like grabban of bouremouth, Norwood of huddersfield, nahki wells, Burke, lua lua of brighton etc. these teams would be interested in a few of the deadwood players. Varney would interest most teams, diouf would interest a few teams, hunt, tonge and Pugh would also

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Diouf, Drury, Norris and Varney, but would also add White to that list.

I still think Pugh, Hunt and Ashdown could do a decent enough back up job for us though so would be inclined to keep them.

Just my opinion of course :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I know it's only twitter, but there were a few saying Bolton were after Varney, which would be excellent. Norris was interesting Wendy, but after Jones got the boot, I'm not sure if they're still interested. We should look at selling White too, he's hardly set league one on fire with the blunts.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2014 11:01:28
I see Man City are after £250k compensation for Abdisalem Ibrahim, I say that is an almighty bargain, the lad has talent, plus if we can get him we might be able to persuade John Guidetti to signing on loan, what a double deal that would be by the way, and for hardly any money at all.

I'd imagine McDermott is aware of these type of players, whether or not he goes in for them is another thing, but both been made available by the City manager.

Nicky Maynard has been linked by someone on here, another player who could do well for us, but the midfield support has to be there, which we currently don't have, well not on a consistant basis anyway.

I know he isn't a McDermott type of player (because of age) but Wes Hoolahan could do a job for us, he has hardly been played this season and is someone I believe we were linked with in the past, when he plays he always looks dangerous, and 3 seasons back (10/11) he ripped the Championship apart, earning him a place in the Championship team of the year, I have no doubt he would have a huge impact on the league again. I know Aston Villa are interested, but we need to get in ahead of them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post. This is the level and type of player Leeds should be in the market for. Not messing about with very average players simply because they call themselves 'a winger'. Even if the players mentioned above are not available (or move elsewhere), they are at the level that we need (ie; better than we have now).

Agree0 Disagree0

Make no mistake. Wes Hoolahan would definitely improve this squad.
Good call.

Just read the article on YEP and BMD, mad the following statement about the Rochdale game:

"McDermott admitted to a lack of leadership among his squad and said he was looking for a player as influential as Jason Roberts had been when Reading won the Championship title under McDermott in the 2011-12 season"

Any suggestions on who he may be talking about, the only name that jumps out to me if Kevin Phillips.

On a related note, I don't mind how much he mentions Reading, he is a relatively young inexperienced manager who appears to draw on previous experience a lot and let everyone know about it.

Saturday was a total embarrasment, only Kenny can hold his head up the rest should give us all a refund out of their wages,

Wootton was like a rabbit in the headlights

Austin was awful what has happened to him?

Byram at least tried as did Smith & McCormack

This was the worst we have played this season with last saturday being very close. This squad is very limited and no where near good enough, a couple of players in the window will help but forget your 30,000 crowds who will spend good money to watch us at the moment.

Rochdale were by far the better side and deserved the win, that's any extra cup revenue to spend on players gone for this season. poor, poor poor

I can't see how every one can slag off Stewart before he's even signed, anyone who was at Charlton v Leeds this season would agree with me when I say that he looked by far the most dangerous player on the pitch (with the exception of mccormack), he had pace, skill, was direct and creative - just the type of player we need to put crosses into the box for Smith.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was at the match and along with leeds and charlton fans I would disagree, other than the volley which was 1 of 3 goals this season, he was not even in the game. From what I can remember Stewart and their other winger had the most appalling crosses which would always go out of play. He is nothing special. Their winger Harriot who got substituted was their best player

Jan 2013 we lost Bechio and our season was over. 2014 things don't look a whole lot better, we have new players & manager. To be honest we have an average squad if we are to be serious about promotion we need a major overhaul and some quality / experienced replacements. Blackburn bossed us off the field as did Forest our midfield is inexperienced, easily overrun and lacking physical presence ( sorry Rudy but there are 40+ games a season not 15 ). We may win a few and get optimistic but we really have no hope with this squad. I think we should start planning for next season, really who is worth keeping? Byram, Mowatt, Wooton etc all just potential and Ross? The rest could be easily replaced with much of the same from any squad in the division. We need a smaller quality squad at the moment I feel we have mediocrity in depth. See you all at the Leicester game were I fear we will get bossed of the field again.

i don't know if anyone else agrees but I wish leeds would have a partnership with a top foreign club or even get connected with a team like river plate of argentina or sao Paulo of brazil to try get some more decent youth in how many players have come from that part of the world for cheap fees and become class players

In BmD's own words.

"Nahki Wells is a good player but. "

Cooling any interest in him. Wonder why that is? Is he just too good for Leeds?

Makes you wonder what is going on, because if we aren't in for "good" players, then who the hell are we in for? no disrespect to Stewart, but he's tried and tested at Championship level and he's been found wanting.
