Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

All I'm seeing on newsnow is praise for Roberts. Now I'm a fan of him and what's to come for him in a Leeds shirt, but there are rumours he's a potential sail replacement, and I watched the game with that lens. Am I the only one who thought he wasn't up to scratch? He missed a few chances, had a few dire touches in key areas. In no way can we rely on Roberts to replace saiz for the second half of the season! Please make me eat my words Tyler!

O Leary, it’s constantly in Bielsas mind to try different players in different positions in order to have more flexibility. He has done it at Under 23 level as well. This was a chance to try something different with Tyler in a game and also with Harrison. He has already said that Hernandez has replaced Saiz and that he would like another winger in to replace Hernandez. But I’m sure we will need cover the Hernandez as well. I don’t think it was a bad effort from him and he should really have had a goal after 30 secs!

Saiz is difficult to replace because at the end even Saiz wasn’t being Saiz!

Good point about pablo Spanish! Feel more comfortable with the little wizard playing that role than Roberts. What do you think about two wingers? One to fill pablos place and one to replace allioski or would you be happy with one?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2019 11:48:40
Think he is just a bit rusty, which is understandable. I think he will prove to be more than capable in quite a few positions, to be honest, just needs an injury free run, like many others!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2019 12:41:51
I don't rate Roberts to be honest. Not in the berm sort of way of KP, but just can't for the life of me see what they others say about him. Yes he is only young and has time to develop and will always try and support players wearing our shirt. I just feel he gives the ball away to easily, and looks like he is playing a friendly with the effort he puts in. If he put in the type of energy of Alioski then maybe it would be a different story.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jan 2019 13:43:51
Mezzer I think he's got great potential. Just not up to scratch for Saiz role. I'm excited for what's to come from him, after all he's only 19.

Having watched Saiz after about game 6 then I don't have a problem with Roberts replacing him :)

I meant to post this before the end of the year but was rather busy.

I would like to applaud all the contributors (and eds) still posting their thoughts on this the best of websites but just take a few minutes to remember some of the names that do not seem to crop up now. Hoping that they are all okay and hoping that it is just that I have missed their latest musings. The likes of; Speedy, Samowhite, Hesslian, PPeacock, Gummie, MadMick and Lucas. If you are out there and still functioning, come on lads I/ We miss your contributions to our great family.

Is that the same Hess or is that Hess1. It would be nice to see those guys back . It was Speedie, Mad Mick and Bermondseys banter in particular that drew me into the site. I never see a shell suit without thinking of MM and the sister in law!

Hope you are all well guys.

I think we probably deserved to lose that game today. Bailey made some good saves, good for his confidence. But would have been nice to have had a bit of luck with that Roberts shot! Both posts without crossing the line. Nice party trick, if you could do it again! A goal after 30 secs might have settled that team down quickly!

As with many of our young guns they have oodles of potential but are not quite ready yet. I am leaning towards feeding them in slowly (altho injuries may speed up that process) but would also see the efficacy of a new face or two.

At CB we have experience, out injured, and young guns knocking on the door so I would not fully agree to a big spend filling the void, rather a half season loan of a top quality experienced pro who can improve the back four and give Halme and the like, chance to be drip fed into the back line. Ready for life in the Prem next year.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2019 12:39:05
you wouldn't want to introduce that many younglings all at once ideally but with experienced players around them i'm sure a few will flourish. good bit of game time and experience for them but a shame we couldn't have got more out of the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:57:58
Good that JC had a full game but probably showed that he is still best coming in for a half.

Aapo was taken off for tactical reasons, anyone understand that? Does it mean, he had a yellow card and we want to protect him for Derby?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2019 19:01:42
I think that Bub has half an eye on the Derby game, wants to see how Coops goes on Monday.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:48:55
Disappointing for me today, I know the League is our priority, but as an older fan I love the FA Cup and I feel cup runs inspire League form. We as a Club somehow don't seem to embrace the Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 20:12:03
I don't get Bielsa saying that the other 6-7 teams below us need 2-3 chances to score but we need 5-6, so with an attacking team we risk our back 4. (loose interpretation of what he said! ) . So saying that is our front players not as good as the others below us? Or is it not proof our defence needs strengthening? If the price of our fast pace attacking style is that we can expect to get caught out at the back with the counter attack? If so what we doing about it?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 20:43:35
Mezzanine Why do you think we were chasing in the summer Abel then Vydra?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 20:57:23
I definitely think that Halme was taken off to protect him, Spanish. No other reason. The same for Tom Pearce; fresh back from injury, give him a run, then protect him as we might need him too, over Davis. Bielsa thinks differently, clearly, than any other gaffer we’ve had before!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 21:49:45
George, I'm glad we didn't sign either of them.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 22:13:49
Good point mezzer! Depends how you interpret it. Pontus, barry and Luke are usually solid, don't mind coopers effort, BPF is always a gamble.
But upfront roofe is on fire and we might get a game or two injury free from bamford so who knows! I think a left winger, a solid GK, and if we have extra cash a solid striker, if we can't get the quality don't spend it on 'they'll
do' players!

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2019 00:34:09
My interpretation of Bielsas view was that we are under pressure at the moment because we are not making more of the opportunities we are creating whilst at the same time defending poorly at set pieces. When we only do one of those we survive but we struggle with both.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2019 09:37:47
Mezzer the defence has the 2nd best record in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:40:56
The silver lining of a replay would have meant KP just missing Derby . As it is let's pray Cooper comes through the under 23's on Monday and starts against Derby Friday . We could be looking at a makeshift back four otherwise of Shackleton ( RB ) Pontus and Ayling ( CBS ) and Davis or Pearce ( LB ) . Bit of a worry that against the likes of Lawrence, Mount and Wilson if fit .

Believable3 Unbelievable0

06 jan 2019 17:00:05
ayling is a liability! shackleton needs to start next game at right back and halme cb (if cooper still not ready) with pont. ar needs to get more quality players if we are serious about promotion.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 17:01:54
I’d have taken a replay, just to give the young ones a run out again, at home, with a decent crowd. Would’ve been great experience for them.

06 Jan 2019 17:02:58
Don't forget Aapo.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:03:11
Dunno about Ayling being a liability but he's not exactly in the form of his life is he?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:09:34
Ayling is a liability!

Hooksie, how many have you had?

Form is temporary. Talent is forever. The lad is a class act.

Name a better right back in the Championship? Name a better right back outside of the Premiership or German or Spanish top leagues

I would rather him play his way back to full fitness and form than be sat on the bench.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:32:18
Sorry but for me the Ayling of the past two seasons is overrated! Had one good season under Monk but as an attacking right back in Bielsa’s system right now his passing in particular is so depressingly wasteful and he often gets beaten for pace in defence . To defend him by saying he’s just come back from injury ignores the last two seasons when he’s been bang average either side of injuries admittedly in both seasons . I also don’t think he has the positional sense to play CB for a run of games .

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:49:22
Not a problem with you having a differing viewpoint, redhot. It's what makes being a supporter such a good experience. We all play virtual Champ Manager, floating our ideas of the perfect combinations

For me Ayling is a starter. In the last 3 seasons I have seen him have good AND bad games, but I have always seen him put in a shift and leave everything on the park, which is much more than can be said for a lot the have been lucky enough to pull on the white shirt
Even in the Monk era he had bad games. But never showed a bad attitude.
He isn't going to give up the "No2" shirt without an almighty fight. And if Shackleton or Coyle or some other young pup ousts him then we will have an amazing new "No2" coming through.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 20:58:59
Axe, I’m with you on this one. He’s fresh back from injury, so needs easing back, but for me, was awesome up until the injury, pre season included.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:21:52
Is Baker a talentless player or is he merely a good player who is greatly affected by confidence and most of that has been lost? Today he seemed to opt for the safe ball too often. I would have been much happier (for him) if when he received the ball he gets his head up and his first thought is, to play the ball forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2019 16:30:10
Pass! See the discussion about him on here earlier! So many good things said about him, 5 years contract with Chelsea, presumably good money. Must be done reasons for it! Two goals of the season, one for under Chelsea 21s and one in Holland! Where is all that promise? He’s the kind of player that you think Bielsa might be able to unlock, but so far no.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:33:56
As Spanish said he is on a long contract with Chelsea so someone there rates him. The fact that at the end of his loan he will go back safe in the knowledge he has the security of this behind him. There is no real pressure on him to perform other than pride. He will probably go on loan again next season for some other championship club and be brilliant. Apart from Bartley trying to think of any recent loan player that has been great for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:38:04
Personally, I saw enough glimpses of him today, to think that he can be quality. Certain touches, turns, passes, but he’s going to need the opportunity to do it week in week out, but for him to be given that opportunity, he needs a strong pre season, and to be showing it in training everyday. I get the impression he just hasn’t done enough.

brightwhite! i'm not going to "fork you off" because it's obvious your still drunk from the holidays.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 17:08:01
Trouble with that, young Bright, is that we don't have the luxury of bedding him in at this stage of the season. Bamford had a lot of loans but always did his best, surely Baker must know he's not going to be a Chelsea first-teamer.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 17:09:51
Hooksie. 🍻🤪.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:24:33
Bright, that’s good to hear about your view of Harrison today. I have felt that a few times in under 23 games. Bielsa must be a good person to have around him and watching him. There must be a view of him and how he can improve and things they’ve got him working on. It can’t be an ideal life being farmed out every year somewhere else and not getting a permanent berth somewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 21:02:32
Not so young AL. Been around, and involved with plenty of football for many years now. I think the point is, is that if the lad could join another club for a few years, rather than like Spanish says, being shoved here, there and everywhere on a short term basis, there is talent there. He just needs to feel at home, and I think he grew as the game went on, and will benefit from it.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 23:59:07
Haven't his loans all been season long ones? I'm sure if he really applied himself he could be the player we want to see.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:04:39

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:16:12
We don't want a defeat that's for sure. Need to steady the ship. As for today not a great performance, especially second half, I would still like to see a couple of new faces come in, I am sure Bielsa must have one or two in mind, if so Radz needs to back him and get them in. This is the most crucial time for us in years, promotion can be won.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:30:52
Quite right 2 sheds. Leeds have bigger fish to fry! I remember in the promotion winning season of 1989-90 we also went out in the 3rd round to a fellow Division 2 club; Ipswich Town.
It may be the best thing which could have happened! And what happened to Norwich and Sheffield United? Something tells me that just maybe, they are not that bothered either.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:06:01
Hoping we come out all guns blazing against Derby, get them rattled right from the start. Nice to see the blunts get beat, nicer to see their manager is Tony Currie's nephew :)

06 Jan 2019 19:59:32
Calling for new faces must also keep in mind the returning injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:04:19
The only disappoitment was the way some of the kids were brushed aside fighting for balls. Many will say "only to be expected" but it does mean that more diet and excercise for a few of our young kids.

We were not embarrased at all today but none of the young guns made Bielsas decisions difficult for Friday but then again did not diminish our hopes for the future just maybe, not right now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2019 16:20:35
On reflection does anyone think that we don't need to bring any players in during the transfer window and we still have enough depth in our squad to cope? The league is our only concern now, I personally think that we need the defence sorting as we look vulnerable with corners and set pieces.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:06:59
We still need a goalie Mezzman, and a winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 19:31:18
Mezzer, I think the timing of the game today is good. Bielsa has shown what our B team looks like and by his admission it wasn’t able to deliver. He and his coaching team, Radz and Orta must have a clear view of what resources we have. The ball is now in their collective court to make some decisions and take the responsibility for them. What can we do to improve the chances of this group of players winning promotion at the year end.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2019 16:01:24
Watched the second half and to be honest at 1-1 I just wanted either team to score. Didn't want another midweek game . Thought QPR bossed the second half and deserved their goal. Another goal from a corner conceded . Thought BPF should have held original shot which led to first corner in the build up. Wasn't impressed by our midfield to be honest as Forshaw looks a tad slow in there and Baker I thought went back too often with his passes. Positives definitely are lots of experience for the young lads and it was not a Sutton United performance. Hopefully he took off Halme for Derby game as we will need his height.

Just watched the last 20 minutes on a betting app. Praying for qpr to score.
Now it’s not often in the last 45 years I’ve wished my team to loose but on this occasion it’s best all round.
NO REPLAY
NO EXTRA GAMES
in a competition we will not win.
We have too many injuries to compete in different competitions.
So I’m ok with a defeat.
There I’ve said it.
Now just win the next 15 games and we are all good.

Yes agree, let QPR have their moment in the sun. Not sure we learnt much from today's game squad wise that we didn't already know. Thought Aapo Halme maybe showed enough to prove he can fill in and do a job at CB alongside Pontus. Not a great deal else to shout about, we are struggling with set pieces and corners.

Overall not too disappointing . But it would be great to have Cooper back to partner Pontus for Derby . We dominated possession once again but didn't quite finish off the chances and were too open at the back conceding from a corner again when Davis lost his man . Ayling and Davis in the second half not the answer at CB in the Championship for me although Halme could be if Cooper not ready . Highlights Tyler Roberts despite fading in the second half and JC getting 90 mins under his belt .

Half time thoughts . Much much better from BPF including one smart save low to his right, also Foreshaw back to his usual self after a few iffy performances. Alioski about par getting into some dangerous positions but things not going quite right from there including some offsides . Ayling for me disappointing again and giving away possession too frequently . Of the non first eleven : impressed with Halme at CB, even the shoulder charge which gave him a booking and indirectly led to the penalty was cynically professional ; Shackleton decent ; Baker and Harrison ok although not setting the world a light ; Clarke some nice moments but despite swapping wings with Alioski not in the game enough . Big highlight for me is Tyler Roberts very unlucky not to score twice and has shown he could be an option off the bench at 10, allowing us to have JC and Pablo on the wings especially when chasing games late on .

Whoa, following the live text on BBC website, sounds like a good game so far. They've got a clip of young Tyler hitting both posts in the first minute, having a poke at goal like that is what Saiz should have been doing, have we got a new No. 10?

06 Jan 2019 14:54:09
Not for me mate, Tyler Roberts looks like he's in a training match. His passing not great and should have buried that chance he had. He's a big muscular guy but loses the ball too much for me. Baker looks interested for once so that's a plus. Defence is looking a bit stretched at times.

ERlier in the week somone posted on what the bench might look like today, can't find that post Ed, but don't think I was too far away. Didn't realize that Pearce was fit, so missed him but, Kun, Oduor, Stevens, Gotts, Huffer . Think I got those. They have chosen Diaz over Struick as CB cover. Some future talent on there. Like to see Clarke come on and run at them. Bielsa using the bench again to give some of these boys a sniff of the atmosphere, great stuff.

The under 23s going to Hull tomorrow night, be interesting to see who is on that bus, presumably the bench from today will play.

Hoping Tom Pearce gets a game today, I actually believe he is the best left back at the club after Douglas, ahead of Davis and his height is a bonus.

Think Mezzer called it spot on today, should be win win if a reserve can shine and push his case for a starting spot in the first team, plus the people whose form has dipped get some much needed rest.

I don’t feel a win but score draw and replay is my hunch.
