Albert Adomah or Marcus Maddison if given the choice? Its a tough one. I would say transfer fee likely to be similar for both. Adomah has pace. Maddison has the eye for the pass, which would fit better with Bielsa.

Adomah would ask probably for more in wages 30K likely i think. Maddison younger and coming up a divison would probably take 15-20K.

Wingers like Adomah have a risk. One bad hamstring tear and that pace is suddenly a thing of the past at his age. I'd want Maddison. I'd be willing to take the risk on Steven Caulker as well for the mooted price over Pennington. If Caulker has figured personal issues out then its a steal.

I really don’t see at the money that’s been speculated why we can’t get both. Take caulker who in my eyes was a very good centre back till he had personal issues, but hopefully has sorted them. But at £7mil for all 3 I’d barely call that a gamble.

Adomah for me, Maddison has better goals and assists per game, also younger so more exciting, but has never played at the same level Adomah has. One you know can play at this level, one might be able to, let's be fair any player can get crocked by injury.
Caulker in a heartbeat, issues aside he is prem class all day long. Worth the risk on the cheap. Either huge upgrade if back on it or good back up if still fragile. Better than another Pennington loan either way.

anyone else worried about our rumours? I get that most are pony and some players we get come out of blue (Douglas) but I am slightly worried we are only linked with strikers and attackers. surely we can go into the season with the defensive options open to us at the moment.

personally norwood and adoma excite me but saville best of who we have been linked with IMO. but worried that other than penninton we ain't lnked with no one, Think MB wants to use the Pep attack and play well so defence don't matter, but we ain't good enough for that (no champ team is other than wolves last year) and over 46 games it is a worry.

Totally get where you're coming from Bermo, but like you say re Douglas, our signings seems to come out of the blue! Don't think the media or rumours are ever close to the mark. If there are no surprises tomorrow, then I expect a few before the month ends.

08 Aug 2018 19:34:23
true and although I am biased I think Douglas at that price is the best signing of the season in any league. Exactly what we needed and a great player.

08 Aug 2018 20:54:15
Not expecting any action tomorrow. Radz just doesn't have the cash to splash. A loan or two maybe.

09 Aug 2018 02:07:39
Tbf Bermo, he likes playing mids at CB, Shaughnessy is a Mid we successfully played at CB last year. Add Berardi, Philips and Ayling, who could move further back with Alioski potentially dropping to RWB, not saying I wouldn't want another CB, but maybe he is happy with the cover. Or the CB we are looking at is a loan so not panicking yet.

Douglas is the best bargain since Strachan IMO!

Who is going to sponsor Bielsa's Bucket?

Just been reading there's been more than one offer, personally I hope it's Andrex ;)

Staffy Can you imagine if it's that sausage company called Heck Foods? Then we will have replaced Heck In Bottom with Bottom In Heck!

08 Aug 2018 21:28:19
George, you have a twisted mind :) btw, your man Madison is 2/ 1 favourite to end up at Reading of all teams.

08 Aug 2018 22:31:45
Yes I do Staff. MM (not Maddison) has a twisted sister. in law. See what I did there?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 22:56:35
I do see :) and MM's SIL is, thanks to this board, now world-renowned as being twisted;)

Just under 24hrs to go before the transfer window slams shut. Closes 5pm this year so no messages coming out of ER saying don't go to bed just yet. I'll be happy with a couple of these, Maddison (been brain washed by GIW) , Norwood and a cb, not sure who though.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Aug 2018 19:07:31
Gut feel is Norwood tomorrow, then just loans after, or loans to buy.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Aug 2018 20:38:44
I agree with Bright but Konate seems possible as well. Let's hope we can end the permanent aspect of the transfer window strongly.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Aug 2018 10:19:12
I would be happy if we sign Konate or Adomah, Caulker, then Besic on loan. People saying where is this £20m budget we were promised, people forget that includes wages and also the January window. So I'm still very positive.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2018 13:02:24
It can't include January window. We were told last season that there's no value in the transfer window.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 13:17:15
i agree. The other day showed we are not massively off the mark at present. a couple of additions should do it. however, if we continue to play like the other day, we will need the January window, as they will all be knackered.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 13:19:04
But we bought Forshaw? I think delboy is right, it's the season budget, and includes everything. Also think that the board are "playing the game", managing expectations, and managing any ongoing negotiations. They know surely that others need to be added, whether loan to buy, buy, or just loans. Loans cost money too.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 13:31:50
we can also continue to look at loans until the 31st Aug and that would include loans with an option to buy in January so tomorrow's deadline doesn't have to mean our activity is complete.

08 Aug 2018 16:05:48
We started smartly last season as well jeez lads Sunday was one game and in fairness I think Stoke were caught off guard.

08 Aug 2018 18:07:43
Jeez, live for the moment Wex, embrace it and give it a massive smacker on the lips. It may not last for long but go along for the ride and enjoy it.

08 Aug 2018 19:45:51
Caught off guard for 90 minutes? They got hammered.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 20:57:21
Was about the most one sided Leeds win I can remember. After we scored I never really felt we were in danger of losing. Normally it's heart in mouth for 95 minutes.

08 Aug 2018 09:54:05
So now apparently we are looking at Maddison alongside West Brom, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Derby, Wigan and Blackburn. If true, why don't we get a move on with these things and sort them out early instead of waiting till the last minute when there is loads of competition? We could have got this over the line a long time ago if we had shown some urgency.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

08 Aug 2018 11:11:50
In reality, who really knows who we have discussed at to what extent. Lots of media speculation but possibly only that. The board line is loans rather than purchases but even that might be a smokescreen to dampen expectations. We will see! Even if we don’t buy there are going to be some pretty good and expensive loaners around!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 13:02:54
We aren’t after Maddison.

Apparently Derby are now in for Maddison which I know will upset you George as they probably won’t mess around and snap him up.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

08 Aug 2018 13:08:49
If it happens, yes it will upset me. I rate MM very highly. I believe he's a perfect fit for LUFC. I don't want Derby getting stronger. If he came to us, he'd either oust or rotate with Alioski and Klich and make us ridiculously dangerous down the left which would be felt across the team. Jigsaw player. He's basically a Gary Mac meets Lee Sharpe (before his form went off) . Massive mistake we don't buy him. Can't make it clearer to LUFC hierarchy.

08 Aug 2018 13:33:12
Have you been speaking with Radz and Co. George?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:04:40
You seen him play often George? I saw him a couple of times and he looked decent but didn’t think he was a must buy. I’ll take your word for it though.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:11:21
No I have not. However, I hope they read my posts. Maybe I should call Victor or Andrea? They'd only take it under advisement from Marcelo and I think he knows more about the game than I do.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 17:11:41
To answer Corky I have not seen him play before my very eyes but I've been monitoring him for over a year and like him very much as a player.

08 Aug 2018 17:40:28
So you rate Mad Mick, but what do you think of Maddison, George?

LOL Bright. Judging from his reports, I rate his SIL more!

Another post, my take on transfers. this konate looks a serious player, scoring goals against top top teams in france in a mediocre side. Worth 6m? in todays market i'd say so, he's another great attacking player. Personally though we should look to a defender. I think the conundrum the club have at the minute is that the likes of klich, baker, Forshaw, saiz, Hernandez, roofe, Roberts, Harrison, edmondson, bamford, alioski, potentially dallas, are all fighting to be in that attacking side of the team, and in the way that we play, one more, over the course of the season, might just be enough to enable us to play the way we did on the weekend for another 5/ 6 games in the season, as I don't think we can keep that up all year it was first class. They then have to work out what is more of a priority, removing the captain in cooper, from the side, potentially causing a bit of disruption, for a better central defender. Or bring in healthy competition up front?

I personally would prefer konate, but if we were to sign Norwood and a good cb i'd be happy.

what about Norwood and Pennington?

I have the impression that Everton won't let Penny go to Leeds because he won't get enough game time.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:13:07
Your impression same as mine Staff. A blessing and not even in disguise.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2018 14:24:38
I agree al, don't think penny would want to come back, a bad first game and that'd be it for him you feel from the leeds fans. either way there will be frustration around him, itll be a case of 'well if you play well this year why couldn't you last year' or 'you were awful last year why did we bring you back'. secondly, i'd rather have besic than Norwood alf, Norwood is good but he's good going forward. we need someone who can play in that holding role, or at cb, which is why for me besic would be better he's good at breaking up play and has bags of experience already in good leagues, he's the transition man. Norwood is oo much like klich imo, forward runs, forward passes. we have lost 2 holding midfielders recently in Forshaw and Vieira, they need replacing, not another attacking player.

So my take on Sundays performance goes as follows:
BPF, some outstanding saves, blackman would have dealt with crouch better. Cooper, if he plays this way all season we won't have an issue at the back, but one more would be nice. Berardi, will get replaced. Phillips, bit reckless, good presence though, more to come. Douglas and Ayling, best wing backs in the league. Klich, MOTM for me, great performance, will be in and out of the starting 11 all year, a bargain as it goes. Hernandez, another great performance, saiz, one of his better games, shone in the first half, his performances possibly the difference this year. alioski, will be replaced I feel by either roofe coming wide, Harrison, or Roberts. Roofe, should retain his place, not as a focal point though. Stick him in behind bamford and put saiz on the left.
Bielsa, a true gent, a man who expects not hopes, and a man who thus far is getting it right.

More to come please against arry's little nephew.
