Jamie Vardy (Fleetwood Town), now fed up of fish and chips on the Fylde coast and is desperate for Yorkshire Pudding! Ready to sign as long as the Yorkshire Pud comes with decent onion gravey and the occasional Fisherman's Friend!
Another Beckford in the making without the southern attitude!

See captain fishy fingers is at it again. Slagging the FA off as usual... The same FA who will punish us more severely than other team for any misdemeanors... I wonder why??

I wish the old fool would keep his mouth shut now and again. He is only succeeding in getting the backs up of the FA, other chairmen, managers, players etc. How could we possibly benefit from his regular outbursts.

Christ, he must have got bullied as a kid to be as bitter as he is. Either that or he has a massive ego!

Either way I'm getting tired of waiting for the devil to come and claim him as his PA.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Perhaps he's looking at the bigger picture, not at how it affects us as a club. If there weren't opinionated, outspoken people in the world, nothing would ever change.

Do you disagree with his comments? he's making a few valid points I think (not all but some) and why shouldn't he.

Agree3 Disagree1

Everyone has a right to their point of view - even the many halfwits who come on here.

Agree1 Disagree0

Either way I'm getting tired of waiting for the devil to come and claim him as his PA.

Old Nick won't come for him ............ scared he'll take over ...... ;-P

Just for everyone's information on Zac Thompson.

When he signed for Leeds the headlines on the Internet and newspapers were
"Leeds sign Everton Midfielder Zac Thompson"

wiki too also states he's a midfielder

It's a shame to now class him as a right back all because we (SG & KB) don't have the intelligence to buy a couple of defenders. We signed him because he was playing well for Everton & Leeds Youth side as a midfielder and I suspect he's played there all his life. One start for Leeds, we have to move him to RB and the lads fate is sealed. Everyone keeps posting on this site, classing him as a right back

Believable3 Unbelievable5

RB on football manager! lol.

Agree1 Disagree1

Relax...he is a midfielder and will be a midfielder in the first team when we have a competent right back.

Agree3 Disagree1

.......because he did, indeed, start out as a right back.

Agree4 Disagree1

Does it matter as long as he does a job for us there

Agree5 Disagree1

Sweet, by all the return comments........

Let's try McCormack in goal next week then?!

Larry, Paul Jewell and all the championship managers who's teams are under-performing will be uncomfortable at the thought of Warnock and his team becoming available.
He might be an arrogant sod but he knows how to provide a team capable of challenging in this league and the chairmen and managers know it.

Let's just clear the beckford thing up, you can play for a maximum of three clubs in one season so he'd be fine, however he is on 40,000 a week so would require leics helping us out as that's about 3 players to us on our budget, they will never do that, so will be very surprised if this comes close to happening, as for Keogh he was crap lets face it, certainly not good enough for the step up, hence why he never plays for wolves, is borini (Swansea last year) available? Think he is a pacey decent finisher? To be honest tho it's defenders we need, right across the back, is it only me that thinks Aidy white is a better attacking winger than a full back? Will Ben Parker ever get a chance again? Had a mare against saints but didn't they all?

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Ben Parker isn't good enough, even when fit. We need to remove him from the payroll asap.

Agree8 Disagree2

Hopefully several youngsters will get a go against Arsenal?

Agree8 Disagree1

I think Leeds will buy Beckford and am certain he'll take a massive paycut, desperate to get his old form back. I think we'll be in for some defenders and a couple of midfielders too.
Unfortunately to do this we'll have to cash in on Snodgrass and I think we would have sold Howson too if he hadn't have got injured.
Larry's definitely looking at loans. That's why Taylor was contracted till end of season and we left the brilliant McCarthy go.

Agree3 Disagree8

Best and most sensible post I've read for ages.
Take a bow my friend.

Agree4 Disagree0

Swansea tried to sign Borini in the summer mate but he went to an Italian team for about £3m instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post mate, took the words out if my mouth.....we need more people like you on this site!

Agree1 Disagree0

Beckford is not a leeds fan, he's on the wrong side of his 20's and he's earning 40k a week for barely doing anything. i do not see him taking a massive wage cut to 20k or less, maybe on loan if leicester help out, but not on a permanent.

if a team i did'nt support wanted me back for less wages then am on, i don't think anyone would take them up,

bit of a kick in the teeth, but the world is run by money people.

Agree2 Disagree0

Dont expect youngsters at the Arsenal game. Bates has made it perfectly clear that he expects teams to field their first team for the "most important competition in football" If a first teamer is fit, he'll be playing.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Jan 2012 19:58:44

Warnock has been sacked by QPR. Bates will look to replace Grayson with Warnock if results do not improve over the next few games. Hope Grayson doesn't go as he has done a great job in his time. However, Warnock wouldn't be a bad replacement and knows the league extremely well. The pressure will be on to succeed

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Would take warnock tomorrow and i dont like him, but he would put that underperforming squad to rights

Agree7 Disagree10

You blatantly just made that up after seeing that Warnock has been sacked. ha ha!

Agree9 Disagree1

You're all in dreamland if you think Warnock would work with Bates.

No matter how much you don't like SG, it ain't happening folks.

Leeds to sign any of the following players danny collins, jason puncheon, chris birchall, robbie rogers, jason koumas, stuart parnaby, keith andrews, sammy clingan, kirk broadfoot,

Warnock anyone instead of grayson proven to get teams out of championship ie qpr and sheffield united what u reckon everyone

Believable8 Unbelievable10

Seeing as most leeds fans hate him, probably not

Agree9 Disagree5

Not a chance. Two plus two equals five comes to mind.

Agree8 Disagree2

Also remember they got relagated the next season, well not QPR but the results they were getting were making it look that way

Don't understand why people slate Beckford on here?! Would take him back within the blink of an eye, did you lot not see what he did when given his chance in the Prem!?

MOT!

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Did you see what Beckford did for our finaces?

NOTHING!

I dont care that beckford is greedy with his leeds record. Wont happen anyway most likely but would take him in a shot. Gradel was greedy and we miss him, luis suarez is greedy as is messi. Hope we get 2 defs and a cm. MOT.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Whats messi and suarez got to do with it? both world class players lol whereas beckford and gradel are not

Agree3 Disagree2

Messi isn't greedy, hence why he is the world's greatest and not Ronaldo. Beckford is no where near his class anyway.

Agree4 Disagree0

Don't understand why people slate Beckford on here?! Would take him back within the blink of an eye, did you lot not see what he did when given his chance in the Prem!?

MOT

Believable8 Unbelievable2

For once somebody talking sense! With confidence beckford is the best striker in the league. Come home son!

Agree8 Disagree0

Cheers mate! & I know sticks ball in the back of the net, what more do you want from a striker if he's scoring & where winning!?

Agree7 Disagree0

Unfortunately Beckford has shown his loyalty is with money, not with Leeds.

Whatever his talent he has been found wanting, and had he waited a season or two with Leeds I suspect both he and Leeds would have benefitted.....

We cannot rely on players like Beckford who can;t see further that the end of their pocket....

Agree0 Disagree7

So Beckford's no different to Howson or Aidy White then is he? Both local lads, neither signing a new contract.

If you're slagging Beckford for this then you can't defend anyone else currently doing the same thing.

Agree4 Disagree1

Don't forget it's the mans job, he's not from Leeds and he's not a Leeds fan so whoever has the highest wages he will go to, I would do the same!

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes but Howson and White haven't gone anywhere - yet....

Agree2 Disagree1

You need to grow up if thats your attitude in life, i am sure if someone offered to treble or maybe even quadruple your wages to swap jobs you would reply...i am far too loyal to my boss i am staying here!

Agree1 Disagree0

They've not signed either though have they?

Agree2 Disagree0

Doesn't matter what they do until they sign or leave, THEN you can make the comparison.......

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Jan 2012 16:08:22
anyone heard anything more on jason puncheon would be quality in our league as he said on soccer am his days of being a bad egg are past him and he just wants to play football surely bates could sign that.....

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Snubbed us once so he can pi55 off only want players who want to play for us,ie townend joining leeds quote"was a no brainer"

Agree4 Disagree4

I don't see why people think that players have to come to Leeds even when offered more money to play in the Prem. We love Leeds and spend a fortune following them, players are professionals who try to earn as much as they can in a short career. It's not connected, don't take it personally and if they will improve our team welcome them with open arms if we finally get em!

Agree5 Disagree0

08 Jan 2012 15:14:03
Does anyone else actually want Beckford back? Because I personally don't rate him and I never have, I didn't like him when he was at Leeds and I still don't now. Hes ball greedy and he thinks he's too good for the team and doesn't put the effort in at all. Beckford, please stay away.

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Yeh, he only got us promoted from League 1. rubbish player.

Agree9 Disagree1

Scored 72 in 126 appearances for Leeds. Terrible wasn't he?

Agree9 Disagree0

Stupid post all cf are greedy ,i suppose you were one of those who booed stracks speed batts macca when they came back to us/

Agree7 Disagree0

Beckford had the talent and ability to help Leeds get back to the premiership and decided he wanted a shortcut by joining Everton?

He did score goals but wasn't consistent enough to get played every week, and even Leicester leave him on the bench for most of the game?

What does that tell you?

Obviously nothing.....

He is too interested in his pocket, not in any loyalty to the club who gave him the chance?

And now he wants back?

Don't think so, greed is a one way ticket....

Agree0 Disagree6

If he was greedy so are Howson and White. Fair's fair and all that........

Agree6 Disagree0

Howson and white are still here though?

Agree1 Disagree0

Not signing though are they?

Anyone seen much of this Josh Falkingham who played today against Rangers? He left us a while back and at only 21 and a would he be worth a punt? Supposed to play like Batty and Strachan as a ball winner? Would it be worth getting him back to develop or is non league his best? Meant to be a Leeds fan too as he said so in an interview recently and would love to play for us as he never got the chance?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Mate are you being serious? He went to my high school and after being released by Leeds went to Farsley Celtic, he only played against Rangers because his team (3rd Division) played against them in the FA Cup

Agree2 Disagree1

I was just asking, heard a load of hype and wanted to see if anyone had anything on the guy, cheers btw! MOT

looks like this ref plays for the scum too

Believable13 Unbelievable0

What do you expect from chris foy, he reffed the qpr-chelsea game straight after scum were hammered by city and chelsea were still in with a shout and on form, coincidentally terry and drogba get very harsh red cards. chris foy, howard webb and fat dowd are all k lifelong scum fans {Ed001's Note - Foy is an Everton fan, though in Liverpool there is a standing joke that Man Utd are an Everton fans second team.}

Agree11 Disagree0

NEVER has there been more proof that our game at the highest level requires investigation. Red card? Best tackle I've seen in a long time. Without that the game was City's - champions in waiting without a doubt.

Agree11 Disagree0

Send off their captain and best defender early, can't have united out in the third round.

Agree3 Disagree2

United play Arsenal tomorrow. Get a grip!

Agree9 Disagree1

Both feet off the ground? classed as wreckless I believe.

Agree1 Disagree8

Unfortunately referees are a protected species these days, and even when they make the most appaling blunders/mistakes/erros whatever, there is no recall.

Bring back David Ellery, at least we KNEW we were a goal down beofre stepping onto the pitch with him reffing....

Agree6 Disagree1

Classed as an absolutely fantastic tackle in my eyes, cant win the ball nowadays without a sending off, same as the Spearing tackle, best tackle ive seen for a long time {Ed003's Note - great tackle in my opinion aswell }

Agree8 Disagree0

Won the ball with one foot and it was ON the ground.

You're on the wrong site I believe.

Agree8 Disagree0

08 Jan 2012 14:26:13
All this talk of new strikers, we have more than enough at the moment, what we needs is strong solid defenders, a midfield that can see a pass, that can hold up the ball and a manager who can manage, put all these things together and we may, just may have a chance at promotion, at the moment we are lacking in these departments.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

08 Jan 2012 13:08:24
these people bashing beckford need to get a grip, he got into double figures last season for everton without actually playing much and he is not getting a chance at leicester this season.

Also how can anyone call him greedy or slate him for leaving us? he was brilliant for us and had the chance to join a premier league team at a critical stage in his career mid -late 20s.

Even when he knew he was leaving he was still scoring goals and then scored the goal that sent us up, you should all be ashamed of yourselfs.

There is no chance of him coming back anytime soon as he would command a large fee so you can rule that out right now!!

We will probably bring in a couple defenders and a midfielder and possibly another keeper, there will not be any outstanding signings, you just dont get that in january without spending silly money.

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Great post well said mate, beckford can be frustrating but was brilliant for us.

Agree6 Disagree0

The guy has talent, when he wants to use it - no doubt.

Unfortunately his loyalty is totally unquestionable, it is money, not Leeds.

Do you want to have him back undermining those players who have 'stuck with it' ?

Uncle Ken would have him back, no doubt, on a free, and paying him a pittance, so it wont happen

Agree2 Disagree3

Beckford's no different to anyone else.

Agree6 Disagree0

Leeds interested in Kirk Broadfoot according to SSN...

Quick opinion on Beckford as per other posts. Forgetting the past for a few seconds, would we be really disappointed to sign a fringe player (who didn't get a lot of game time) from a Premier League club who still managed to score 8 goals in his first year after jumping from League One? Would all those calling for Jordan Rhodes still be happy to sign him if he did the same?

Now back to the past. We know he has attitude problems, which may have been curtailed by finding out he ISN'T the best in the World and a year or so of growing up. He and Lucianno Becchio had an awesome alliance which would no doubt do well again, Beckford's Premiership experience maybe even bringing more out of Becchio and the team as a whole. He doesn't fit in at Leicester, and we haven't changed that much. I have no doubt that he "missed out" by jumping straight to Premiership without going to Championship first. Where most former Leeds players being linked with a return to Elland Road is just a romantic notion with the hope they can still do half a job for us when required, I firmly believe that Beckford, and more importantly, Leeds United on a. Whole, would benefit from this rumour becoming reality

Believable10 Unbelievable2

All of you saying we need beckford bak but even if he comes he can't play football league rules=can't play for 3 clubs in 1 season!! Anyway y would u want him wen I've got a goal machine in somma wen he comes back!

Did beckford actualy play foe everton this season ?

why does everyone go on about strikers. we have more than enough up front and some decent kids to come through. we need a good centre half and 2 centre mids and its alright banding these names about that everyone is chasing but they will all be out of our reach financially...wellens at leicester as a marquee signing and jones from wolves will do nicely...open to ideas re the centre half

Grayson states on the official website that 'Arsenal will be aware of our weaknesses' - does this mean he also is aware of of weaknesses? bearing in mind he has had 3 years to resolve our weakness strengthens the argument that he simply cannot develop a solid back four - lets not use money as an excuse, i can't recall a more unstable back four in my time as a Leeds fan (35yrs)

if anyone can post a poorer defence than our current please list it below...! (BTW) I am not having a go, I am actually going to the game Monday

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Since Grayson has been manager,we have had one of the worst defences in the clubs history
The sooner,he,his backroom staff and more than important the owner goes the better

Agree6 Disagree10

Your bang right mate........ I'm off to the game Monday too :-)

Agree3 Disagree10

Since Grayson has been manager, we have reached play-offs from looking likely relegation candidates, won automatic promotion and then missed the play-offs by a whisker in a higher division. We are currently one point off sixth with half a season to go.

What a shame Simon Grayson is the manager when you muppets could do so much better!

Agree11 Disagree3

I don't blame Grayson fully, but he should pick his coaches for their ability and not for his friendship with them. The coaches must be inept to not be able to get a decent back 4 out of about 20 players in the past couple of years.
grayson does the same with the team by playing players he likes rather than those with the ability. (e.g Bruce left out O'dea in).

Agree2 Disagree7

Ermm the defence was had when we got relagated from the Championship?

Agree6 Disagree0

..........................

Some people seem to expect miracles, and instant with it. We are currently in the best position we have been in for a number of years, despite the short and long term injuries.......

Keep the faith, the Leeds road is a long and rocky one, and we are all the better for it.....

Would you seriously expect to win every single game in every single competition?

If so, why not go and support Stumchester......

I can't believe people on here are saying get rid of Ross. He has 12 goals and while I agree, he has suffered a dip in form, so have most of the team! I still think he will be pushing 20 goals this season. I'm sure any of the 'fickle fan brigade' would have took that at the start of the season!
