Brighton sign Knockaert
Derby sign Blackman
And we sign a bloke who can't get in the boro squad but was decent on loan at Crawley a few years ago.

There's nothing like ambition to get the fires burning.

Apologies kic and delboy forgot about those two who we sold on for a profit and of course we can add

Danny Webber
Ramon Nunez
Lloyd Sam
Robbie Rogers
Jimmy Kebe
Gboly Ariyibi
Cameron Stewart
Sanchez Watt

Blackman and Knockaert would walk into our side.

1LU Pretty sure Lee chapman wasn't that good at forest before he came to us and he's one of our greatest scorers of all time, I also feel that Nunez was okay just didn't get a chance, but u know I think we should probably give our new guy a chance, just get behind him and he'll do well

Hopefully.

Well I'll be making an all to rare appearance at ER tomorrow. If you seen an old codger in a bobble hat with two younger good looking lads ( nephews) , say hi. I'm feeling an exciting game in my water, and I'm going 4-2. But I'll gladly take 3 points on Tuesday and lose tomorrow.

For the posts doubting latest signing because it didn't work out at his last club just think of the loan signings we have had that went on to bigger and better while we wonder why they didn't perform at Leeds.

If you see bridcutt week in week out he stands out as a class above most we got so it was good piece of work by Steve to extend his loan Byram has played well since his wanting to leave has been allowed which helps us short term and hopefully bangs up his value we have got to cash in and bring extra class in on that money? Question? Regarding lafferty? Does anyone think Matt smith would be a good punt instead as I feel he's got unfinished talent that we let go to early?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2016 11:30:42
Yes I think Smith is a good shout. don't think we should have let him go in the first place

Hi lads,

Just registered, but been reading the posts for acouple of years. Enjoy the banter. Sorry to start on a negative.
Just wandering why the dog botherers have sent carayol
Back to boro. Apparently wasn't getting in there team.
Which worries me slightly. Any thoughts?

I don't read into it because happens with loads of players for lots of reasons. Some players don't perform where there not settled so maybe a reason why but personally I wait to see how they play for us.

Warm welcome to u Slough! We are a mad house here! Lol regarding carayol! Not sure he's what we need but Jan window dnt normally bring up diamonds more like coal let's hope he's got something to prove whoever comes in we get behind them support them and if they no good then slaughter them why? because we are Leeds! Lol.

Loans don't always work out at as matty (above) said and any club might not be the right fit for a player. We've had a few over recent years who have not done much and then gone back to their parent clubs in the Prem and played well (Barkley, Townsend, Wickham) . I don't remember Max Gradel setting the world alight when he was at Leicester or they would have never initially loaned him to us and look at how he turned out. Could be the next Gradel! - sorry too many Stellas lads!

Guys who do you think we should play against the tin pot Miller's I would play 1 Silvestri 2 Coyle 5 Bamba 4 Bellusci 3 Cooper (Can play LB I belive. ) 4 man midfield of 6 Walters 7 Bridcutt 8 Mowatt 9 Botaka. Up top I would play 10 Aunty Lucy 11 Lee Erwin Bench of Cook Wood Dallas Taylor Carayol Phillips Adeyemi Bailey Peacock Farrell. Also my opinion on the new singing I think that it is not a good signing or a signing we needed, but I will give him a chance. Thanks again for the warm welcome to this site.

I agree with most posters. Have faith in Big Steve trust he has unearthed a good un. I say drop him in at the deep end and play him tomorrow. Ignore the result, give the kids/ reserves a chance and tell them to just go out and play.
I have said all along and still think we have the solutions to our problems already on the payroll they just need motivation and gametime. Having said that a good marquee signing would not go amiss.

If he was no good Middles would have terminated his contract by now surely!
Looking at a number of other clubs selling there best players so it's not all that bad.
Byram wants to go and let's be honest his not been great all season, just the last month .

I have faith in Evans and also see somebody on here critical of bridcutt who has not had a bad game since he came to Leeds and like I said I'm sure Evans knows what he will get from this signing as well we're bringing in players for positions we need to strengthen but some people are never happy.

Loan signings are always a gamble but Bridcuu looks the best for a long time especially when you consider the likes of Buckley, Cameron Stewart, that other bloke from Reading I'm sure you all have your favorite failures so here's mine
Roque Junior for the worst and Max Gradel for the best anymore suggestions.

At least big Steve knows the players he is bringing in and MC is letting him have his chance to select them. Has to be better than when MC thought he could win the Championship with lower league Italian players he selected himself.

We actually seem to be positioning ourselves in a structured way to prepare for a big push next season, if we get anything this season like play offs that will be a bonus.

I am going to let the season run and judge both MC and big Steve at the end, I think MC has learnt a lot (still mad but learnt a lot) no more negatives let's be positive all the way to May.

Starting with a big win tomorrow,

i hate how everyone is judging this guy before he evens plays 5 mins of football at the club. Sometimes players don't like the club they are at or don't get on which the manager or ain't the managers favourite. So they get left behind to rot, could be the new bit of life this guys needs. He clearly has the ability and knows the league, get behind him and give him support to do what he does best. and like someone else has said look at bridcutt, by far our best and most consistant player to short time he has been here.
Delighted for another signing, which is better than the likes of doukara.

phillg111 I don't disagree with your sentiment however Evans has made a rod for his back claiming that the players he will be bringing in are 'Bridcutt' quality. No disrespect to Carayol, as we should reserve judgement until after he has played games for us, but a player who struggled to get into a poor Huddersfield team cannot be put into this bracket. I also assume that this is the temporary replacement for Byram. Would fans not feel short changed if this is the case?

From what I understand the chap only became available 24 or so hours go. I think SE thought it a gamble worth punting.

with the other signings I do expect (or hope) him to stay to his word and be "bridcutt standard" I just think this was something he thought was worth it.

Bridcutt couldn't get into the Sunderland team last season so what does that make him?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2016 15:50:20
mattylufc72, Sunderland are a poor performing team in the Premier League, Huddersfield are a poor performing team in the Championship. There is a difference, but as phillg111 said we should be giving him a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2016 15:58:58
Maybe he did not want to be at Huddersfield. Maybe he wanted a bigger club like us. Footballers go through dark times as well he may have give up a bit but this could be the motivation he needs, hope so as video show he knows where net is.

N I don't think there's much difference between the championship n the bottom teams in prem. People could say about vardy well if he was that good why wouldn't any other team want him n then Leicester got a bargain.

Mustapha Carayol! I don't know anything about this guy, I hope I am proved wrong however if this guy was any good he would be playing for Boro and would certainly be on loan to a better club than Huddersfield. In my opinion another crappy signing and we are being fobbed off with another player that is no better than we already have. I have read Washington could be joining Bournemouth for 2 million, I know we can't compete with team that are in the premiership however we should be able to be able to bid 2 million for him. If we wait to sell Byram and we get 5 million the price of players we are interested in will ultimately go up.

Come on Cellino show you have some real desire to get us back in the premiership and put your money where your mouth is.

08 Jan 2016 13:16:49
Mr Shagtastic, come on mate why so neg already?

This guy knows the championship, is quick in forward midfield/ wide areas, which we all know we lack and playing for a poor team this season has managed 3 goals, 2 assists from 15 games (9 starts) with 80% pass rate (well 79.2 as I looked it up, sad I know) .

So who knows but at least he is quick and in 1 out of every 3 games will score or set up a goal (and may get better for a better team as we are better than Dog chasing types) , plus SE knows him so you can understand why we have gone for this one, give him a chance and cheer up feller!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2016 13:28:36
Any player we sign on loan is not going to a regular in the respective firt team.

Will either be a fringe player who needs / wants games (Bridcutt / Carayol) or a young gun who needs experience (Gnarby, Grealish) .

Am happy that we have signed a player that knows the championship, am not so happy that Botaka isn't being given a fair crack.

Also this is a move that will cover the vacant winger position when Byram eventually leaves. IMO will be a bench player as first choice "wingers" will be Mowatt on the left and Dallas on the right.

Just a striker and defender now (at least)

DG you are quite correct and the stats back you up.

But if he was any good he would be in the Boro side its as simple as that.

I am so non-plussed about his signing and agree with the Shagmiester.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jan 2016 17:47:06
Wow, lots of negativity about this signing. I agree with DG, and I'm going to judge him on what he does (or doesn't do) for us, rather than judging him on performances in a team where he might not have been the right fit. I'm thinking his playing style might not be good for Boro's playing style. The Manager might not have been able to get the best out of him, something that SE seems very good at. Too many possible reasons why he hasn't set the world on fire. It's just too easy to blame the player, when there may be other reasons why they're not performing.
As I've said before, I'm a glass half full type of person (mostly!) , so I'll give him a fair chance.
