Thought I heard the Brazil fans singing its just like watching Leeds.

I was thinking exactly the same at 6-0! Hope we will be singing just like watching Germany next season.

Contemplation time?

I think it's time we looked back over the last ten years or so and see what we (Leeds United) have achieved in that time?

It's quite a round figure - nothing!

So we now have Massimo Cellino in charge?

We have, for the first time in those ten years, made a SERIOUS profit by selling one of our best players, rather than 'giving them away' to Norwich City for a pittance or even swapping them for an unfit player?

Or selling them to a rival (aka Beckford and Shmeichel)

Rather upsetting, in a way, that McCormack cost us £350K (allegedly) from Cardiff City and we now have to give them almost another 2 million squid for doing nothing, should all go well.

Nevertheless we have decent money coming back into the club (rather than the chairman's back pocket!) and on the very same day we have intent shown with a new goalkeeper and a midfielder being bought into the club on long contracts (note, NOT LOANS, and promising players!)

It is a shame to see Ross go, in some ways, but if he doesn't want to be here, for whatever reason, then we don't want him here. Kissing a piece of material takes little to do, none of our true 'legends' ever did that? It's a PR exercise, as has been shown by many who moved on for more money?

We have been calling out for the 'deadwood' to be shipped out? A lot of it has already gone, still more is waiting to go. Kenny obviously has little respect for himself or the club, I am sure a certain Colin will find him another position somewhere?

For once, even with the loss of McCormack, I am seeing our team pull the promising youngsters into the first team squad and giving everyone a clean slate to start on?

Watching the way things are panning out, I feel we are on the right road, and am prepared to give Cellino and Hockaday the benefit of doubt, they haven't exceeded anyone's expectations yet, but from my experience over the past 40 years and more, they are at least heading in the right direction.

I don't honestly expect a miracle this year (promotion) but I am looking forward (optimistically) to watching fresh players who want to play for Leeds United, rather than loanees and misfits and older players that take whatever they can for their retirement.

To end, much as I have no time for Haig, I am sure many of us would rather it was Ridsdale stuck in that jail cell, as he is far more guilty of damaging Leeds than any other single person in our history.

The future IS white.

MOT, forever, our time will come!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally spot on, hammer nail on head post. This is a slowly slowly approach, sort the debt, ditch the deadwood and pension fund oldies whilst bringing in the promising youngsters and 25 yr old experienced pros. We are on the right path with an experienced football man at the helm. Anything is possible from here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post mate. I think ross had a genuine love for leeds but his relationship with BM was clearly strong and I think he is miffed he's gone and how it was handled. I live in bardsey 2 streets away from him, bumped into him frequently in collingham and he was genuinely a nice guy, saw him signing things, pics taken with kids when he clearly wanted to shoot home but he seemed to appreciate the fans. Think he'll miss leeds but hats off to cellino.clearly no mug as £11m is unreal. Slowly but surely he's rebuilding our club, no doubt doing some things which he'll get slated for but he has no choice with the mess left by bates and GFH. we all need to stick with him as I believe he'll get us out of the hole we're in and either make us very successful (back to the prem) or desirable when he comes to sell as there won't be all the Bates aftermath and blackholes

Agree0 Disagree0

Better, a brief yet optimistic outlook on things that have happened to our club in recent times, nice one mate.

It is nice to finally see some players coming in that aren't on loan, and plenty more lined up judged on the rumours/reports that are going round.

Ross moving on is, on the face of it, is a bit of disaster, but it is fully recoverable and for the reported £11m we'd have been really stupid to turn that kind of money down!

It is time now we as fans put more faith in what Cellino is trying to achieve for our great club, after all he stuck with Cagliari for 22 years, that was no flash in the pan for him and I don't think we will be either.

The Hock has said that the slate is clean and every player will be in consideration. I think (hope) there may be a few players who take their chance and prove a lot of doubters wrong inc. Norris, Morrison and maybe even Aidy White. Add to this a better season from a fully fit Byram, Jason Pearce continuing to improve and at least one gem from the young 'uns stepping up (Dawson or Skelton maybe) and the squad with a few additions would look quite strong. A completely new look team from last season so who knows, plenty to look forward to. On, on, on!

MM

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately many of our past managers have been allowed to just 'sideline' these sort of players for whatever whim they feel, and then bring in carp like Stewart and Kebe who are terrible players.

Onwards and upwards hopefully now!

I've got a sneaky feeling Murphy will be our man next season

Still no announcement on these signings, maybe MC was trying to wind up YEP. Just want to see it confirmed! Excited. Am I proper sad or you all buzzing too?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 19:18:59
Why is there nothing on official website about the signings? Surely they would be first to announce it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In case you hadn't noticed, a lot of the team are actually out in Italy at the moment, hence the inactivity on the OS? Just maybe?

People seem to believe everything negative they are told about Leeds and need to see things cast in stone when something positive happens?

So before you all go kissing cellinos feet for the great deal he pulled off in selling mc c for 11m, reality is about to set in. The whole deal will cost fulham 11m which includes wages, which means cellino will get about half that, which is what was offered before and turned down in jan, difference is gfh would have pocteted the money then, now massimo ' I won't sell to another championship club ' cellino gets the dough. Question is, will he put it into buying quality? if he even puts it back in .Last weeks signing of an over the hill goalkeeper proves not. let's see if everyone is still kissing his a~~ in the months to come

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I should take a long look at the £11 mill bud!!

"selling mc c for 11m, reality is about to set in. The whole deal will cost fulham 11m which includes wages, which means cellino will get about half that, which is what was offered before and turned down in jan, "

Not quite sure what planet you are on, but this has nothing to do with 'wages' whatsoever? Leeds will get around £8million upfront from what I understand and the rest to come if Fulham get promoted, etc. We have to pay Cardiff 15% of the basic fee as far as I understand, which will be around £1.2million.

How can this equate to the £5million that was turned down earlier? Don't forget, Cardiff would also have got their share of that?

Added to this, some of this money has already been spent on promising incoming players, rather than the Ken Bates pension fund where most transfer money ended up in the past?

Stop being so negative and look forwards for a change?

RMc sale excellent business all round - sell after one season not likely to be repeated. Also better for team spirit when one guy doesn't see himself as the big I am - agree he saved us last year but the point is this year has to be different. Also big statement from MC with other deals. Exactly what we have been missing for last decade - build for the future, rather than giving one last pay day to journeymen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 19:51:12
If it's true RMc cost Fullham £11m in total
Sturridge went to pool for £12m!

Our new midfielder Tomato Bianchi scored 33 times in 38 games last season. Perhaps that's what MC means when he says : wehavvana lostathirthy goalsasason, wealosta fifteen.
Our almost new defender made his debut for Sampdoria at 19 years old and is a Swiss international.
Our new goalkeeper was wanted by several big clubs across Europe.
RmC is the most expensive Scotsman ever.

Where did you get your goal info - his atats say 19 goals in serie B career, 844 minutes per goal or one every 10 games

Maybe Tomato Bianchi has scored 33 goals but Tomasso Bianchi certainly hasn't. He has only managed about 15 in his career to date. Don't know where you got that from?!

Very busy day at work so just reading about Ross signing for Fulham - very disappointed to see him go but this is very very good business. Makes a change from selling our top players for peanuts (Gradel, Snodgrass et al).

Do I feel he has betrayed the club, us fans, NO!, good luck Ross and thanks for keeping us up last season.

Funny that RmC hasn't tweeted for nearly two weeks but managed to change his profile to "Fulham" and "London" first thing this morning and has retweeted a congrats tweet from Gareth Bale. MC says Ross didanota respecatame so he had to be sold. RmC 's choice not to turn up for Italy. RmC's choice to hand in
transfer request. I suspect it was RmC's choice to ask for an improved contract after last season. MC's choice to say no. "It's not the Leeds United I fell in love with " says RmC. No, that Leeds United finished 15th and lost £1m a month. "They hung me out to dry" says RmC. Well, MC said no. The plane was there. RmC wasn't.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

"They hung me out to dry" says RmC."

Er, we renewed your contract how many times at your request, exactly?

Don't try and justify yourself, just go.

You are the one that kissed the badge, not us.

You are the one who said you wanted to get us promoted, not us.

You are the one who refused to go to Italy with your team mates, not us.

You are the one who handed in the transfer request, not us.

Just go, and leave it at that, as you cannot justify your own greed over our loyalty.

We have been here since before you came and are still here now you are gone.

And will be for many more years after you stop being a commodity.

Phil Hay on Tw*tter claiming he's been told by Cellino that Silvestri & Bianchi have signed, Salerno is now employed by Leeds & we're in talks to sign Rossini. Looks like the Italian revolution is beginning (and yes I know Rossini is Swiss)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 10:30:32
I'm a bit confused here, Ed: everyone here seem to think WE got 11 mill for Ross. Reports say HE has signed a deal worth 11 mill, and for "an undisclosed fee". Is the 11 mill Ross' income over the four (+1) year, meaning the club gets an undiclosed (and probably lot lower) fee?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 11:53:56
Out of the 11 million for Ross, we are getting 9.35 million as Cardiff are taking 15%

i think 11 million for ross is good I think if gfh or bates were still in control he would have gone for far less imo cellino is soooo good for leeds I still think ross is not at his peak yet if its all money up front then its a good deal

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 10:13:38
Guys. Yes we got £11 mill for Ross
BUT Cardiff had a sell on clause of 20%. Still it's a great deal well done mr Cellino. I am happy for now great deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sell on is 15% and equals 1.65mil

I am very surprised that rag of a newspaper. 'The daily undiffused light reflecting surface' hasn't been on our OS and picked up on the natural ice bath story with something like.

Leeds United cannot afford their water rates and force players to wash in the river!

Or something similar lol!

Its official Ross gone to Fulham for undisclosed fee. i'm scratching me head at this one? Bloody Dulham I ask you ffs! Oh well. on n on n on I suppose

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 09:54:53
He's gone - signed for Fulham at 9.30, for a reported £11m, with a small percentage going to Cardiff. 4 year deal at £8m with an optional fifth. In essence twice the money at ER. I believe we have a replacement lined up costing a fraction of the cost.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15% (£1.65M) hardly a 'small' percentage, and several times more than we actually paid them for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 19:00:20
ye not a bad little clause Cardiff put in the deal when they sold Ross, that 300k we paid for him now works out to almost £2 million, But got to hand it to MC he's no clown like the previous owners.MOT

08 Jul 2014 08:40:17
If its true Ross is going for 11 million its a good fee for him and gives us money to buy. Think that could get us at least three decent players and pay their wages for year. Good move if it goes through. can't wait for the buying to start though, dragging on a bit being linked with every series a player who opens his curtains. Personally would like to see two strikers, two midfielders and two wingbacks and assuming we have Sylvestri we should be sorted then for start of season and add as we go on if the young ones don't perform. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just read somwhere that Cardiff are due 15% of the fee due to a sell on clause.

A little annoying, but I guess they do need all the help they can get.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am happy that we are finally getting a high fee for a player but how can the football league claim financial fair play if a team in the championship can pay 11 million on one player before wages

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 08:27:00
On ssn that mcCormack gone for 11 million I say that's good business now it's time for cellino to show us the fans that he does want the team to do well by reinvesting that money in the squad. Gutted he is gone hope he does nothing for Fulham

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to say again what great business acumen it was from MC. Played a blinder. Everyone including me saying 'bite their hand off for 7-8.'
Think in MC we have a very sharp operator, the English league may not be quite ready for him.
Cant see him taking the money out of the club there would be no point in doing that so the pennies are in the transfer kitty, game on.

£11 million for McCormack? Yes please. Great deal for us for a player who peaked last season and is worth nowhere near that price tag.

Bates the cheap skate would have sold him for less than £3 million so well done Cellino. We should be able to build a much stronger team if the dosh is re-invested in the squad.

Good luck Ross, you're going to need it with the weight of expectation your price tag will bring with it.

Now being alleged Fullham and Leeds have agreed an £11mllion deal for Ross McCormack for a 4 year contract.

Much as I don't like to see Ross go, especially to another Championship club, his heart is no longer with us and this makes great business sense, at least financially.

Cellino has tried to keep the guy at Leeds and has stuck out for a good price, if Ross don't want to stay here there is no sense in Cellino keeping him here.

huge reports on twitter from very reliable sources that RMC has been sold for 11 million to fulham late last night.
