Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Surely it is taking too long to nail down the man. I know Brighty pointed out the intricacies but I just hope he is not holding us to ransom. He is not God, does not walk on water and it is more a gamble to us than it is to him. At some point do we need to call a halt with a best and final offer and just see what happens after all he is not the only manager of note out there. Some even have a more substantial recent CV. I just don't want Radz funding this man with a long stretch of finances or a dip into our transfer budget.

But! Is he all that?

08 Jun 2018 17:35:10
The problem is, if we don't pull it off, because it's been splashed all over the media other good managers might think 2nd choice no thanks, and we start to oanic and get more dross

Agree3 Disagree0

08 Jun 2018 17:38:45
Reported that he has agreed in principle to become our next Manager (they not calling him a head coach) he just wants assurances on the transfer budget. Are we go take it that he will be doing the recruiting of players then?

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Jun 2018 19:16:41
Sounds that way Mezzer, or at least he's finding out the budget so he will know the range of players he can ask Orta for

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jun 2018 19:33:46
I think he will want specific players to fit his system so Orta may have his powers of roaming the world looking for sub standard players cut and be told to go and get certain players. About time too if it happens

Here's a bet. signed and delivered by Wednesday at the latest. Not that I have any inside info at all, nor am I Survivor Jeff, just hopeful!

08 Jun 2018 21:47:12
I have said it all along, Any Manager worth his salt wouldn't want to put his reputation on the line by having players in his squad chosen by Orta.

Reports now say he has been given 48 hours to decide if he wants the managers job. I still can't see him taking it.

Tim Vickery (british) South American football expert believes we would be getting him seven or eight years too late. He said that his football style was revolutionary but has now been copied and studied by other coaches across the world. If he comes to Leeds it's going to be another rollercoaster ride of a season for sure.

Me too Alf! Can't beat a good old Walter Mitty! Maybe MM would come back too, if Jeff was still around! ?

Supported Leeds since 1954 and saw most matches throughout that time except for the years I was playing Yorkshire league football myself. Given all the things the management have done to drag the club through the mud bringing in Steve Bruce would be the final straw. Thought about just binning my season ticket as I would not want to follow a team, wherever he took them, if he was in charge. Thought better of it though. Whilst I have never been a demonstrator I fancy starting a 'Bruce out' campaign, should the need arise. The aim would be to beat the Brian Clough and Jock Stein record. I felt the same way about Clough.

Sorry but don't agree. Said before I don't really want Bruce but he's an appointment that would make total sense given the situation we are in. And I think sacking Clough was possibly the worst mistake we had made up to then. Made plenty more since of course. I don't care if Mickey Mouse takes charge if they can get us back to the promised land before it's too late for me to see it

Sorry Hess I agree with you and disagree with you. I would say no to Bruce purely because he is a very average manager. The whole Red Scum thing I don't buy into. Over the years we have traded player back and forth and I for one am eternally gratefull of seeing Johnny Giles and Gordon Strachan in the white of Leeds no matter where they came from.

Agree2 Disagree4

08 Jun 2018 16:25:08
With you on this one Hess! Can't stand the guy, and don't want him devaluing the home dugout at Elland road with his knock knee, smarmy ass presence! On a positive note, the same regional rag did say that Hernandez was set to snub all midlands clubs to sign for us!

Speedy, I agree re Clough. Set the precedent we have now of not giving coaches a chance! ? And Leodis, Like martyn with PH, I only dislike Bruce as a choice because like you say, he's average, and I just don't like the guy. That said, should he be appointed, I would do my usual, and preach giving the man time, like him or not.

Breaking a self imposed exile from this site to agree with you hess . It would be the biggest disaster and is most likely just bored journos having a wind up. Or bookies trying to pull some easy money when they know it won't happen

It's not just about the Man. U. connection. I'm not a Man u. fan but I thought Johnny Giles was probably the most cultured footballer we have had at the club and Gordon Strachan was no slouch either. I admired both of them. With Bruce it's the whole package. I don't like his style, I don't like how he presents himself and going up with him in charge (if it ever happened) would just be the start of a roller coaster like Hull and Sunderland who went up without the right credentials.

Agree with speedy don't particularly like Bruce but his CV is an improvement on what we've had lately knows the league might glean some villa players as well won't want 8 million a year can speak English and won't demand vast transfer funds and will stick around longer than loose cannon Bielsa, time to move on Ranieri, big Sam or Bruce would do a good job fear were going to miss out on the players we want with all this fannying around needs sorted now whever it is

I totally agree with all sides but I would lay all my misgivings aside just to have a manager that can take us forward, don’t really care who as long as they can handle the club and our expectations! Just give us something to shout about and be proud of, it’s as simple as that 👌

Totally agree mikewoody, just want someone who can take us forward. Don't really care who he is as long as he gets us playing and winning football matches.

Perfectly said Mezzer, It’s as simple as that! The Leeds supporters will soon forgot who Bruce played for if he gets us playing again! They will soon forgive Big Sam for boring football if he gets us up! In fact whoever gets us going in the right direction will be given god like status, all we need is Radz to make it happen! Just think how much time and money Radz would of saved by appointing a proven manager in the first place!

Let's just hope that this time next season we can be talking of what a great season we just had and not experiencing ground hog day again, and speculating on who our new coach/manager will be.

We all have our opinions on who we would want, but the bottom line for me is does it matter who it is as long as we are up there challenging for promotion.

That would be fantastic Mezzer, not to much ask for is it? and surely our time is due, we’ve been in the wilderness to long now, it really must be time to seriously challenge!

Leeds united now linked to Steve Bruce (AVFC) for top job, owing to Biesla stalling over accepting an offer from the club - Skysport Can't imagine much worse to be honest. Good way to blow our 10 mil investment. Albeit, if he brings Kodja, Grealish and Uncle Albert with him, maybe it would be worth looking at.

Good news about Pearce but he is one for the future we don't know how he will turn out. So not getting carried away. It's taking a worrying long time to sort out the other recruits. Smacks of the agent delaying matters to see if offers from more prominent clubs come along. Not expecting too much but if they do get it sorted then that would pave the way for others to follow. If not I think we are back in the bargain basement as the quality players will be lured elsewhere.

Couldn't agree more aus. Why would you want a man in charge who has to actually debate whether he wants to come. The man received 8m in a year in his last job managing, that's more than most of the players in this league. He may be a 'footballing father' but ranieri won th eleague above 2 years ago. That's like eddie howe going to Burton? Bottom line, get someone whos proven, and understands what it means to be the leeds manager, and how much of a hero theyd be if they took us back up. The hernandez thing, I understand he is after a financial incentive. The sort of contract leeds will be looking at will most likely be 40k a week, with a goal bonus clause included I would imagine, the man is fairly injury prone so this seems fair. The fault we have here is that galatasaray and celtic can both offer champions league and top division football. He's leaving hull because they're a mess financially, we need to show our balls here leeds. Either way away and recruit someone else or sign your priorities.

Defo right in terms of getting it sorted ASAP, Aus. Somebody needs to be in place next week, laying the foundations for pre season, and attracting some class players.
