Since Lucas is bored I'll throw out something as a little food for thought, hopefully generate a bit of debate.
Was reading an article the other night about one time loanee, Adryan. Seems his contract with Flamengo comes to an end in the summer (They are not looking to renew) and the once £5m rated youngster will be available for the much more reasonable price of £0. Now he didn't exactly have the best time on the pitch in his first stint with us but a few things suggest it might be worth going back for a second try -
1) He is still only 22, has time to improve and a perfect mentor in Hernandez (Assuming we keep him) . On a free we could get a natural successor.
2) Was potentially the right player at the wrong time in his first stint. He has skill and can score (7 in 24 last season for Nantes) but got bullied in the championship, also fell short when it came to defensive work. Now we wouldn't need him coming back and players like Bridcutt, O'Kane, etc. would give him a lot better protection in the middle.
3) Less pressure. Last time he came in with a lot of expectation for the shoulders of a young player in a new country, we needed him to step in and be great straight away. To bring him back now he would come into a much improved squad and we can afford to give him time to grow into the team rather than being thrown in.
So yeah, don't know if he would want to come back but would people want to give him a second chance?

Totally agree gummie. Adryan showed glimpses of class and his potential and did well for Nantes. Plus at least his hair won't look so stupid next to ayling's.

Noooooo way, not for me, we can do lot better, the guy is not suited to our league, we would carry him and we are still a work in progress so no way we can do that.

Showing the odd glimpse, for me Leeds now should be looking at so much better class of player. The fact that no one really wants him, no value says it all for me.

Gumster we can bring on our own midfield youngsters that are also showing signs of promise rather than giving adryan another go had his chance and didn't take it.

Viera lot better than him. He has class but not the attitude for this league. Would prefer pablo to mentor some of our own promising young ones. Whish Mowatt would look and learn.

Viera, Viera and Philips all good players and highly rated but all DM/ CM, Mowatt doesn't look comfortable in the AM slot and doesn't have the flair to play a Hernandez role, British teams rarely produce that sort of player. If we are going to continue playing the style and formation we currently are we need to think long term for after Hernandez and I don't see anyone already at the club that can take over.
Lets put it this way, had you put Pablo in the team at the time he would most likely looked just as out of place (As he did before Jansson, o'Kane and Bridcutt came in and freed him up from his defensive duties) . On a free he becomes an enticing offer, who better can we get in at this level for non extortionate money?
As for no one wanting him DG, I'm not sure that's true, no one has been willing to match Flamengos £5m price tag, now they are willing to let him leave, since they are top of the Brazilian league that's like Man City shipping out a youngster, means nothing to them, doesn't mean he isn't worth having, last time I checked we have 2 Arsenal youth rejects doing pretty well for us.

Adryan would probably fare better this time gummie, as you said with the more solid midfield the pressure on him wouldn't be quite so much . However with hernandez here now and some of the younger ones like philips looking good and viera I don't think he'd get much of a look in anyway. Shame about his first stint here cause he did look like he had ability.

Bring him in now! Said it more than once!
Now we are solid he could be a luxury player we can finally afford to have!

But gummie C/ M's and D/ M's can be developed into A/ M's and you are talking about developing Adryan . I'm saying we can develop the youngsters we have already.

Personally Gummie, i'd never let him put on a white shirt again. He's not a proper footballer. he's a damn right cheat imo.

After the Derby game he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near ER. There is taking a fall and there is absolute taking the piss.

Gummie,

A massive point you fail to give sufficient significance to is fact he got bullied. Get bullied equals no career as a PL or Championship player. League One is his level. I'm not saying boy doesn't have skill and touch.

He does but so did Dawson. As Wex says we should be developing our own youth who have already been kicked around in their teenage years and know what's required to succeed as a professional footballer. I'm expecting big things from RV, his brother and KP.

They rarely do though Wex, a truly versatile player is worth a lot of money (Just look at one of our own in Milner, he in no position is worth £30m but the fact he can play so many at any sort of top level adds up) . Also a true DM cannot switch to an AM it just doesn't work, completely different skill set and mind set, I defy you to come up with a single player that can naturally and effectively play both.

Tbh George I freely admit he got bullied, thing is Wright-Philips dropped down and got bullied, you get away with a lot more physicality in the Championship, its why I would class him as a potential work in prospect rather than a walk into the team.
As for that incident Cork, yes it was bad, on the comical level, but if you think it was terrible never watch a Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Brazilian game, about 5 or 6 worse a half mate. Rivaldo anyone?

You must be joking George, KP? That's just nuts! 😀.

Viera can play pablos' position and two years ago phillips was playing there for academy and scoring goals. don't think we can label young ones yet judt because they are ssked to play in different positions for team, still learning and being assessed.

Gummie

A once rated £5 million is now available for £0 doesn't that say everything, he has skill but didn't have the physical presence for the championship like a lot of Cellino first season buys. How many midfielders do we have? He wouldn't get into the team at the moment and I doubt he would get on to the bench. Do we need another midfielder playing in the development squad, no. If we bring in anyone now it should be cover in cenntral defense.

I'd have him back but only if he does the same 'salmon flip'dive he did when tackled by the Derby player. Every time I see it I still end up rolling around in stitches. definitely deserved to win the fallon d'floor award.

Gummie a couple of defensive midfielders who now play further up the pitch Yaya toure and Sebastian shwenstiger.

Still don't think we are in a financially viable position for 'luxury' players, even if they come in free - still need to pay the wages. Need to off load some of those who are just sat scratching their backsides and taking a wage every week for nought!
