Think West Ham have a cheek. If Pogba is worth £89 million and Stones is worth £47 million and Lee's is worth 25k a week we should be asking at least £15 million with add ons for Taylor.

think taylor is worth that but only at higher club, no championship club would get that for a full back. same with cook worth more but not as leeds player bournmouth will proabably go down and sell cook for 15 20 mill.

Deda

He's in final year of contract, won't sign another, handed in a transfer request, plays in championship and is not a full international. 8m or maybe 9m is surely the ceiling.

George

There is aot of money about paying £25k a week for Lees to play in the championship and Stones cannot get an England game and is very average. Taylor is in the last year of his contract because of one person only. Had all last year to get him on a longer contract but didn't. If he goes for cheaper than we should have got then Cellino at fault again.

10 Aug 2016 08:53:06
Good point George. Crying shame if he does go, but we should be looking to replace. Take the money and strengthen before the end of the window. The quicker the better. There are 5 games in total before the end of the window and we really need to gel quickly or else 15 pts will have gone begging.

10 Aug 2016 10:17:50
Only problem is Cellino won't pay the wages. If Lees is on £25k and Hooper is on £32 What is Austin, Ross and some of the top players. It looks like we are losing out to Reading on Moore. You have to pay out market rate, we don't so will end up with another 6 players who will take us sideways at best.

Trouble with Leeds is
1. too many managers, too little time
2. revolving door of players too
3. not enough quality
4. not enough championship experience
5. players that fear big crowd pressure of leeds fans

will obviously support monk and team. not entirely sure if he knows his best 11 yet. players seem to be like headless chickens. need experienced championship players. not sure about promotion worthy team but it is early days.

Could not have said it better, with the business we have so far done we will not be a top[ six side.
Need at least one, two c/ b decent Wheater and Moore, bridcutt .
Taylor wants to go, so sell him .
We keep being linked with players that can't hold down a first team place in Championship or abroad .
At what stage will the penny drop that quality in this league will cost, support with a few loans and then adjust in January window.
QPR looked sharper and more match fit are defence was slow and again got caught wanting on set plays.

Does anyone know if/ when this year's season tickets are being sent out? I had my last year's ticket stolen with just four games to go. I was told by LUFC that it would save me money if I paid 4x admin. Charges of £20 rather than £25 for a replacement as new tickets would be issued for the coming season. Since then nothing other than the cash has left my bank. It has just occurred to me that it might be a scam or some other scheme:-
1) . Leeds might not be issuing new tickets and I will still have to pay £25 for a replacement. LUFC will be quids in and better placed to pay the wages bill. OR
2) After Sunday's performance they are not sending out any season tickets. No one will buy one on the day and therefore only Birmingham fans will be in the ground. LUFC can then claim that all fans went home happy. OR
3) The more likely - The scouting team have worked their magic again and found out that, although I started life as a striker, I finished as a Centre back. However, I haven't played for a while, and at one stage, had to recover from a ruptured cruciate ligament. I still meet their criteria - I am not as fast as I used to be, I haven't played for a while, I might be injury prone and CH was never my favourite position. Add to that I would be cheap. On further reflection It's a no brainer- I haven't been sent a ticket because I can get in through the players entrance and it won't cost me as much.

Just reflecting on the QPR game and the way we were overrun in midfield in the first half. I know GM liked to play 4231 at Swansea and it succeeded at least for a time but we certainly looked a lot better going 442 after the break. Thinking back to our last two title winning teams, both played 442. The Revie team had an out and out winger in Eddie Gray, whereas Lorimer was more a right sided midfielder. In Wilko's team Strachan and Speed were right and left sided midfielders respectively, rather than just touchline-hugging pacy types. In the centre BremnerGiles and BattyMcAllister were the central defensivecreative pair though to be fair Bremner and Giles were largely interchangeable.

All four first choice fullbacks Reaney, Cooper, Sterland and Dorigo were comfortable on the ball and getting forward which allowed the wide midfielders to come inside and cover when the fullbacks were attacking. The four centre backs were no nonsense types who did their defensive jobs well then passed the ball quickly to a midfielder rather than just lump it up front. Lastly Jones and Chapman were good target/ hold up men (though more mobile than often given credit for) but you can't imagine either of them having anywhere near as much success without Clarke and Wallace respectively playing off them.

I suppose the point I'm making is that if you've got the right players in the right positions and they all master their own roles and understand those of their teammates, 442 seems a sensible approach as you don't get that no mans land in midfield where Leeds players fear to tread, plus your attacking options are still potent. You might say, rightly, that the current players are not at the level of those mentioned above, but in the championship neither are our opponents every week.

Based on our current squad and hoping we can get Bridcutt either permanently or on loan, you would have a back four of Coyle, Bartley, Cooper and Taylor, midfield of Sacko (winger) , Bridcutt, Vieira and Hernandez (wide midfielder) with Antonsson and Roofe up front. I still have my doubts about whether Wood will ever really make it at this level but if he does it won't be playing up front on his own so he could feature in place of Antonsson at times. This would be a team of real pace and mobility with each first choice ideally having a designated back up, Phillips for Bridcutt, Mowatt for Vieira etc to cover for injuries, loss of form and as subs.

Ultimately football is a simple game; of course you need a plan B and flexibility but I do sometimes wonder what coaches, not just ours, are thinking.

Good post Mark, I also think looking at the players we have got. I'd like to see us go 442 at home with a diamond shape and a 4231 away from home, Assuming we get him Bridcutt would hold in the diamond shape with Hernandez tip of diamond and I'd go for the pace and directness of Sacko instead of Dallas and roofe out wide with Antonsson and wood up top as I said above I would use an extra CDM for the away games for added extra protection. I like roofe I think he's going to be a top player for us, he will have to learn to hold his ground in the championship as I think it surprised him how often the opposition literally barged him off the ball on Sunday, hope Coyley gets a good run in the team I'm sure he will become our regular RB, just urgently need to sign a CB Liam Moore would be great, Bridcutt and another quality Mobile Goalscorer, then I am sure we will start challenging for a top 6 spot, maybe see you in the peacock Saturday people mot 😎.

think taylor will still go this window but think mc holding out for more think around 9 mill would do it. fair play to mc we do have to sell all clubs do but at least he is getting decent price, which makes me wonder why cook went bit cheap maybe big sell on clause which would be amazing.

First rule of negotiating, always turn down the first offer.
Prime example, think back to Ridsdale's days and the first offer of his wages. Player and agent silent, thinking, wow I can't believe they've offered so much. Ridsdale misinterpreting the silence then upping the offer by about 20%!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 13:07:55
7-9m for Taylor you would take that, just hope that we are planning for who comes in (which you have to believe we are otherwise that would be really dumb) .

That money would pay for a quality replacement (kid from Walsall type) , Liam moore CH Leicester or similar, Bridcut or similar and money left over for a surprise quality forward/ forward midfielder type. Simple really as Taylor doesn't want to be here so won't play as well as last season.

Monk then would have 10 of his picks in squad and no excuses cause it would be his team more or less.

Classic Ridsdale story. So far fetched it has to be true!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 14:48:55
Ridsdale always denied it and said he knew what Seth Johnson was on beforehand but it makes you wonder! I agree, take £9m if offered provided it all gets spent on at least 3 quality additions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if he knew what Johnson was on beforehand, why did he not just double it? Why did he offer a wage that was many times more than his current one? Ridsdale is just embarrassed because he was a fool. Probably just upset that he wasn't able to skim that money into his bank account too, like the big chunk he paid himself before the administrators came in, and again at Bradford he did the same.}

09 Aug 2016 16:16:47
Ridsdale is a bellend.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - bit harsh. On bellends....}

09 Aug 2016 18:35:00
Bit harsh perhaps . O leary is the real bellend as any decent manager would have spent the money on half decent players, not Johnson, fowler etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 20:16:29
Fowler WAS a decent signing for us, he got a goal every other game - don't stick him in the same bracket as Seth Johnson!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 21:32:59
Good point Lancaster and nice to see you! Odreary did refuse Lampard for just 3m more than Seth Johnson. Huge error. We'd have won the league in 02 had we made that move. I thought Fowler was good for us and we sold Keane too early.

Publicity and Odreary were both bellends of highest order.

The Charlie Taylor debacle needs sorting!
Quite clearly his agent and probably CT himself want out his performance says we ain't going to change things - MC is obviously angered by the situation and attitudes maybe he also partially accountable for the impasse

So either back down and sell to Burnley, WBA or whoever use the money and strengthen the defence (WHICH IS BADLY NEEDED) - OR - stand by the principle set out in that we ain't selling and stick CT in the development squad for the whole season (No loss after attitude performance on Sunday)

Guys we need a new centreback! Heard it Before? of course? You can look at the Olympics. It´s a great window for young talented players. Have a pick! Not too expensive either and in the right age. Still Portugal rules even at this level.
Take a pick from esgaio, Figueiredo, edgar, tomas, andre.

a note to all moaning and saying how bad it is. ok noted, agree now let's move on and give everyone a chance. what makes me laugh is you condem after 90 minutes yet moan that MC sacks managers too quickly and doesn't give them a chance. look all I am saying is give Monk a chance (to the tune of John Lennon)

09 Aug 2016 09:27:20
Top post BW. I am really optimistic about this season and 90 mins (albeit bad) will not define it
Monk is a great appointment and we have a decent squad, could do with one or two more, but there is time in this window. Let's be optimistic people!

I'm actually quite gland of the score and performance on Sunday. It proves clearly what we have all been saying, we need to strengthen certain areas.

If we had a couple of lucky games and come out with a 3-0 win on sunday (a freakish goalkeeper mistake, a penalty and a handball) we may have thought we are good enough as we are.

The window is still open and now we know what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2016 09:07:26
Sunday was appalling. Bamba and Wood must go. Berardi injury unfortunate. Unless we get new players in the window, we should gamble on the likes of Denton, Stokes, Phillips, Mulhearn, Peacock-Farrell even. The likes of Mowatt and Dave need to step up and for a settling in period, Murphy should be inclu6ded at least.

I saw just about every game last season. Fans are saying Sunday was just as bad as last year. It wasn't - it was worse. We didn't lose many games to three. Even against Middlesborough it wasn't as bad and it took an own goal from Belusci who apparently was still sulking because of not getting his own way and a classic from Bamba. Last season there was lots of individual mistakes but there seemed the semblance of a plan (but no plan B) . It didn't always work but you could see a pattern. On Sunday I didn't know what they were trying to do or achieve and we still had individual mistakes. It was disjointed and there was no purpose to the play. That is what is worrying.

Morning siblings, well, bit of a head scratcher to be sure. On reflection the biggest worry for me was the lack of cohesion and passion. The midfield looked lost leading to no service and pressure on the defence. Wood is not a lone striker, more of a right place right time player who needs an ally as Lee Chapman had with little Rod providing the pace and trickery. We seemed to back off players especially in defence, no blood and thunder. Every time we had a throw in the thrower struggled for an option so invariably went backwards and time again we struggled to get any momentum. Think Sako and Antonsson looked capable when they came on. Here is to improvement, please god let there be improvement.

Good shout Vid. They did look a little shell shocked and that was in a ground with only 16,000. Wait until Saturday when no doubt we will have 30,000. They're going to have to learn pretty quickly that our fans are amongst the best and probably are the most loyal in the land and if they appear to be putting in the effort that we do following them up and down this land, then they will be heroes! If after two home games we see a similar result effort wise, well then it's going to be a long season for them.
