Waiting for premier league sides to do their business.

09 Jan 2019 21:04:45
Opinion or fact Cork! Sure the premiership clubs don't finish their business right up to the final minute of the transfer window, gives us a lot of time then.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 21:28:24
Opinion mate. It is normally the case for championship clubs to wait and see. In my opinion.

Your presuming we will sign someone from pl?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 22:43:40
OMG, Because we're very choosy. Trying to acquire better players than what we got but not breaking the wage structure. Requires the following variables to be just right:

1. Scouting or identification.

2. Club willingness to loan or sell.

3. Sufficient quality and fitness of player.

4. Adaptability to Bielsa.

5. Player willingness to arrive.

6. Funding acquisition.

7. Paying acquisition sufficient weekly wage without breaking structure.

8. Better than what we have at the club so far.

9. Ability to get work permit if necessary. And finally

10. Bielsa blessing.

You think all that's easy when you only have so much money?

Spot on Mr George!

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 07:48:57
Do you have to wait for the transfer window to be open before you set on place that list George or can you not be ready for business before. Excuses excuses.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 08:22:20
With our small squad I just hope a poor transfer window doesn't cost us the big prize as it arguably did under Grayson. I know Bielsa has to want the players, but surely he has players in mind who he would like to bring in, especially with all the injuries we have. For me we will see the Owners ambition this month.

Wexleeds1 how right you are planning planning some just haven’t got it mate.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 11:38:01
You can plan as much as you like and you can have as many lists as you want but if you are not prepared to meet the Initial asking price, salary and contract demands, you aren’t going to get agreement. That’s where negotiation comes in and that takes time.

Let’s judge the squad in relation to others at the end of the month.

Wex Newsflash Other clubs have money. How many times must you be told? If we had money, we would have bought Vydra. Money talks but a lot of Radz speeches have been in Eleven Sports lately and look how that's going. We still have 3 weeks left in the window. Let's see what ORB can conjure up. That would stand for Orta Radz and Bielsa.

Wex, Why start there? Where's the Woods and Taiwo money? Next Newsflash. Businessmen have pockets to line. You'll retort so why tell us about 20 million? Next Newsflash. Businessmen aren't economical with the truth sometimes? Especially when season tickets on the line. You need to get over the basic 101 stuff. Radz up until now has done a good job but I admit if he don't twist and sufficiently well by end of the month I'll lose my patience.

A quick poll, where do each of the guys on this site truly think we will finish what place from 1-24. Not a trick question of challenging anyone's loyalty. Obviously we all hope for one of the 3 promotion places and champions would be great.
I will kick things off, taking injuries, players leaving and experience of our squad i think 4th place .

And Ed25 that number must be your ranking of Ed’s!

{Ed033's Note - Yes, Ed25 is ranked as, Knight of the Brazen Serpent :)

09 Jan 2019 21:25:02
No reason why we can't still pump for 1st. 13 wins will give us 90 points. That should be good enough for auto promo. I can't see why we won't be confident of winning another 13 out of 20 - even with a depleted side. With players returning from the treatment table, promising young guns and possible new additions - I am optimistic, MOT.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 01:26:45
I know it’s a crap answer, but with everything that has happened, is happening and probably will happen, I haven’t got a bloody clue!

The Derby game is crucial for me to see how this group of players react and play and how up for it the coaching team is! At the start of the season a teamsheet that didn’t include, Saiz, Hernandez, Phillips, Bamford, Douglas and possibly Cooper, would have scared us to death! It’s a sign of how far we have come and how well the squad has done that we can still hope! If we can beat Derby against all those odds, anything is possible!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 07:49:57
4th for me unless we shore things up defensively, we have played beyond well with players who last year were bang average, but too many silly set play goals going in.
I would up my prediction to top 2 by adding an experienced keeper, maybe Joe Hart on loan, a playmaker, that lad Maddison from Posh and a decent winger.
I know that's contradictory to leaking goals, but you score more and you win, it's a scientific study called the "Grayson effect".

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 08:18:28
Got to agree with a few on here because of our injuries we really need a couple of players in and it’s how good they are and how quickly they adapt to our stile of football will decide if we make the top 2 unless we get players back quick . Really think if it wasn’t for all these injuries we would of pulled away a bit now . Derby big game coming up must not lose in my eyes ALAW.

It was raining hard, so i took shelter in a doorway. i noticed the door was open and i stepped inside to see 3 doors infront of me, each with a sign;
Door 1; blonde
Door 2; brunette
Door 3; redhead.

i chose door 1, well they have more fun don't they?

As i went through, there were another 3 doors, all with signs again;
Door 1; small boobs
Door 2; medium boobs
Door 3; big boobs.

So i went through door 3.

Yet another 3 doors were waiting, each with a sign, this time;
Door 1; hairy twat
Door 2; shaved twat
Door 3; wet twat.

i chose wet twat and found myself back outside in the rain.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:34:55
Surely someone like Vorm is our answer. Talented, experienced and (for us) the right side of 30. We only need him for a year (2 tops) Then BPF/ Huffer will be one year older and, if loaned out, one year more experienced. By which time Vorm will have done a job for us (thank you) and BPF will be ready to slot back in.

NB. for Vorm insert any 30 something (quality) Premier 2nd/ 3rd string.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 19:30:26
35 the right side of 30? Getting close to his sell by date.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 20:45:58
I’d take him Martyn. I have no faith in BPF. I hate knocking a young player but he’s not up to it. It’s been mentioned if he can sort out his positioning on crosses and free kicks. It’s also been mentioned if he can command his penalty area more. These things can be coached and learned eventually but what can’t be teached is to stop a shot and the lad has weak wrists. Too often he has got a hand to a shot and still the ball hits the net. Like I say I hate saying it again and I hope the lad proves me wrong but I just can’t see it.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 01:34:18
Joe Hart? just saying, I'll get me coat :)

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 07:53:26
I'd go for Joe Hart you don't become a bad keeper overnight, ex Man City, ex England and he did the Head and Shoulders ad.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 10:33:32
Preston have already tried for Hart. I think if Hart put his inflated ego aside then he would be a decent loan signing for a Championship club.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 14:16:41
Might be 35 Martyn but we only need him for a year and as much as a teacher as a goalkeeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:03:29
Orta supposedly has been active for the last few weeks. Hopefully that is in response to a cold hard decision to quality recruit and not as a knee jerk reaction to our "crisis". I am one who says that maybe? we do not need new faces, at the moment. If any are recruited then they must be obvious stand out characters ready to perform immediately with a pedigree of the highest order. It may be better tho to wait until the summer and just see what division we are buying for. Also I hope that the Eleven Sports problem is sorted and any financial constraints have eased and the budget will be larger than it is now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 16:50:25
A few key questions that could determine how important replacements are?

Brown, when can he be of use for us and do Chelsea have the right to recall him as well? Might not be too happy with us after Blackman and Baker!

Bamford, ditto what expectations can we have about his contribution?

Hernandez, playing without him for a long period is not something I really want to think about!

That’s before actual bums on seats for, Baker, Blackman and Saiz.

Even Bielsa admits we need some, so time for action!

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 17:01:49
I'm not of the opinion that ElevenSports has anything to do with what happens at the football club, he is supposedly a shrewd businessman after all. Aside from that, I agree with your thinking that we don't need any new signings, goalkeeper of course but that would do for me, anyone else will be a bonus.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 17:35:28
If course we need a couple of signings, you can’t lose a player of saiz quality, whether he was starting or making an impact from the bench, and what are going to do if anything happens to Roofe? . Bamford seems to be made of jelly and Roberts isn’t ready yet, lloriente from spurs for 6 months would be perfect for us, add some experience and would def score goals in this league.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:13:42
Regarding signings. It's now becoming a numbers game. The squad is good enough and now well versed in Bills a ball. but, alas, we are a little too thin on the ground.
Regarding Eleven Sports. AR will have this ring fenced and shouldn't affect Leeds at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 20:24:47
We am I reading that we are too thin on the ground now?
We were too thin on the ground last August!
Now it's a scramble to plug holes and I hope the guys who said new players would unsettle the team feel foolish.
Ok Orta, earn your bankroll!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 21:33:22
Don’t feel foolish at all, but at the time, Saiz leaving wasn’t an option, and the additional injuries weren’t expected, and forget Baker leaving! I still think we will add, but as I said before, maximum 3, because Bielsa runs a very tight ship, and WILL NOT want to disrupt the squad unity. He spent many, many hours, and changed many things to create and embed the unity we are seeing, and shipping someone in does not suit that approach, unless it’s a massive improvement on what we have. Bit soon to be bandying the “foolish” word around, don’t you think!?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 15:33:25
Ooh, plenty of doom and gloom around today, we're only playing Fat Frank Lampard's Derby County. Chill peeps, so probably no Pablo, no probs someone will fill in. ALAW?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 17:37:43
A hell of a lot of what we do comes through Hernandez, look at his assists this season, just about the best in Europe, of course we will miss him. I would feel a lot better had we kept saiz till the end of the season to cover for pablo when he was fatigued or injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 19:01:11
Stafford i love your optimistic attitude regarding someone can fill in for Hernandez no probs we got loads who can fill his boots haven't we. as to we are only playing far Frank's team, I hope that statement doesn't come back to haunt you and us. As a couple of guys have posted earlier Derby game could be a defining one, I don't think we are strong enough to beat them at present.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 21:35:10
I think, as weakened as we may be, we are still strong enough to give Derby another schooling. They are more hit and miss than we are.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jan 2019 01:02:12
Bright I predict a 2-4 scoreline defeat, sadly.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 14:24:57
Slightly worried that the Derby game could be embarrassing. If we have no; Hernandez, Cooper, Douglas or Phillips and try to fill these gaps with what we have left - I can see Lampard lighting a fire under his players and them mauling us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 14:43:43
I'm getting the same feeling sherburn.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 15:00:36
Cooper will play, share the concerns though. anything happens to jansson, klich or Roofe and we are in serious trouble.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:13:01
Let's see what happens Sherb but I think we can cobble together a team to do a job. Hopefully Cooper will be back (don't want to rush him tho) if not Halme can fill. Maybe Klich AND Forshaw can protect the back four. Yes I know we will lose some attacking thrust but, needs must. We already know that Pearce can do a job at LB without having to drop Alioski back and as for cover for Hernanadez I will defer to Spanish to pick one of our young guns. Seeing as Baker has fallen out with us and Brown is still on the treatment table.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 16:58:33
I’m with you here Leo, we can definitely still put a side out that is more than capable of “competing”, and also one that could win the match too. If Pablo doesn’t make it, tho I hope he does as he’s a key player, I’m also quite intrigued by the prospect of Roberts playing 10, with Roofe. With Slioski, Harrison then Clarke, we still carry an attacking threat.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 17:03:31
Looks like Roberts is the Pablo replacement :)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:34:18
I think they have been trying out different people in that position in the Under 23s and no one has really stood out . Roberts is an interesting possibility and Bielsa has seen that already. Other longer term possibility is Kun. I think he’s better playing behind a striker and has the build to win the ball, hold players off and the skill to dribble, pass and shoot.

Hernandez is a massive loss for me, he can create or score a goal from very little. Let’s hope it’s not for long!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:48:06
You’re right Spanish, Kun will be, tho not yet, a straight and better replacement for Saiz.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 19:04:37
God help us if Roberts is stepping in for Hernandez, his passing to his own players is terrible.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 22:15:55
Roberts definitely capable.
Improving every game.
Will get sharper and grow in confidence. if he plays friday back him to score.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:18:18
The way Bub talking at the press conference I wouldn't like to see the consequences if we lose against Derby. He strikes me as someone whose anger is up there with the very worst and it could truly derail us. Given the recent losses, I'm calling the match against Derby the biggest game of the season, at least so far. We dare not lose.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 14:13:10
He def seemed a lot mor agitated than usual, sounds like pablo missing Friday, if he can keep the current squad in the top 2 till the end of the season it will be some achievement, squad is crying out for help now.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:17:32
big Big BIG game.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:42:57
You can see why he might be agitated, Saiz allowed to go, Baker taken back and Pablo injured, oh yes and Phillips sent off and banned. I think he’ll be looking for performance and result, but will at least settle for a good performance from those left standing .

The only good thing about the timing of all this is that Everyone now agrees the need to recruit at least three, GK, winger and 10.

George is right, massive game, let’s make Elland Road rock!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 21:05:33
George I heard he stubbed his toe in showers!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 12:52:06
Lots of " house keeping" going on at the moment. Seems to be a real clear out of who we want and who we don't want to be part of the second half of the season. Hopefully getting all that sorted before making some creative additions. I think Baker going means that we will be looking for at least three players, GK, winger, midfielder. Gives us a clear berth available now with Saiz and Baker gone. Either a clear Chamoionshio level starter who we buy or probably more likely a premiership loanee. A key part of the planning might well be, how many minutes are we likely to get out of Izzy Brown?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 13:00:46
zero with our luck. waste of time.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 12:27:01
Good luck to Baker, thought he looked professional but really needs to grab one of these chances. Swapping a promotion battle for a relegation battle! He needs regular football and he is going to have to show some fight and determination week in week out at Reading. And in theory he's not going to be surrounded by the class of player that he was at Leeds. I can see the logic, but a high risk for him. Needs to be the reading star each week for the rest of the season.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 11:11:25
I wanted to respond to critical posts about Alioski. Bielsa loves him, why?

Played 29 games for us this season, never been injured or rested . Played international games as well.

Plays where he is asked to and changes during the game without complaint.

Improved his fitness levels massively this year, improved his tracking back and defensive work.

Over the last few games, improved his forward play and positional sense.

Above all he wears his shirt with massive pride and fights and bristles for the team every moment of the game, perhaps equal to or close to Pontus and Kalvin in that respect.

We need more players like this not less. Baker, a supposed superstar, never showed anything like the passion, aggression, commitment that Alioski does. Give him a break. Players like Alioski, turning up every week, playing every minute with passion and aggression are the players that help get you out of this division.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

09 Jan 2019 12:21:30
Agree with nearly all that Spanish but if you are a winger you are going to get stick at some point. Look at Sterling one of the best but some of his decision making when he's near goal are atrocious. Fact is a lot is asked of wingers, they need to occupy the defenders, make space for others, create chances and get that final cross on target. As much as i applaud his improvement in defensive duties would rather see improvement in his attacking capabilities. This is not a criticism as i think he is one of the most talented players on our books and i am sure he will get it right fairly soon, but for me the most important part of his game is offensive and it does need to improve.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 12:44:30
Fair point about the criticism that wingers receive. I think he is starting to improve his forward and positional play. I saw a stats table a few weeks on positive or attacking passes? Anyone remember it? Hernadez and Alioski were in the top 5 in the division. Hope he gets better and better.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 12:46:17
4 goals and 3 assists so far this season. not bad but can be improved.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:24:01
Spanish

Absolutely agree

Brilliant post
Best yet

I wouldn't trade him for any other player in the Championship
Not saying he is the best player in the Championship but many "bigger names" have wilted in a Leeds shirt. He has worn it with pride from day one. Even last season when it was all going so badly in the 2nd half of the season.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:20:08
I don't necessarily disagree with you Spanish as Alioski's commitment to the cause should never be doubted. It is the output he provides in regards to crosses, chances created and goals scored that does cause contention amongst fans. No comparison to Baker as he has failed to show either quality or commitment.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 13:39:38
Agree. Alioski would be one of the first on team sheet or def in first 10.
He has had a great season. Works hard. Runs hard. And an asset to the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 15:55:25
Totally Spanish, the lad doesn’t deserve any of the flak he receives. Also read a stat the other day, that he, along with Pablo, are in the divisions top 5 so far as “key” passes are concerned, so he’s not that duff at delivering a ball!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 18:49:14
Bright, thanks, that’s the stat I was trying to find Top 5 on key passes which goes against a lot of the criticism he receives.

I was worried about how he would react after Saiz went because I think they were close. However if anything it seems to have gone the other way and really lifted him.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2019 09:05:53

What will be an acceptable result against Frank Lampard's Derby County?

Under normal circumstances a draw would be fine however after two league defeats we need to get back to winning ways, particulary as we have a tough run of games and have been lucky with results elsewhere going our way during the last few games. We cannot continue to rely on this.

I think we need to win this game to help quell the doubters and fortune tellers predicting a downward spiral. Think Bielsa will want to as well. Another full house has to get behind the team and find a way of winning it. They are good going forward but not unbeatable at the back, so another Forest and Villa game on the cards! Attack, Attack and when they are really tired attack again! Just can’t see this one being a draw. They will want it badly and we need it badly.

Can't see us getting anything superior than a draw and sadly I can see us losing.

I can see us winning or losing not drawing! So it’ll probably be a 3-3!

Respectfully disagree, we have done amazing under bielsa and been top is fantastic. I don't feel we will sustain it over next 4 months and a few quality additions will get us up.
I understand about young lads like Clarke and feel he is a player and will be a big part in Lufc. If the other young ones good enough they will filter into team. Harrison and alioski not good enough, alioski has improved slightly over last few games but he can't go past a player or score. Harrison has done nothing and they both need replacing, alioski as a sub maybe. I think roofe will go through a lean patch and unsure if Bamford is the striker to step in, time will tell.
We need to also replace saiz and have a creative force between defense and attack. Still hoping Izzy can be that player but how long do we wait.
Lastly BPF not bad but not commanding enough with balls into box, and need a number 1 for me, Forster be my choice.
Team doesn't need a major influx but with 3 quality additions, I feel promotion a big chance. If no investment and don't get up, I feel our best will go.

How many of roofes goals have come from Alioski crosses?

I’m not going to count them, someone else can

Alioski is a good foil for Douglas

When I was building championship winning teams - all in my book “ building championship winning teams” I always tried to look at players that were prepared to cover team mates and work in partnership with those around them

I also did a lot of playing players in different positions within our system so they had an understanding of team mates jobs all over the pitch

Some called me a visionary

I just nicked the idea off Ajax.

you should come up with a catchy name for your system Other, like 'Complete Football' or something along those lines.
