It is a watershed game. Victory and I fancy us to do something in the season.

Tad bit early George for that premonition!! I reckon ten to twelve games in will give us an idea?

Tbh, peterboro I think we could have a good idea a tad sooner. Ipswich are always up there so that will be a marker but Middlesbrough away is possibly the hardest game of the season. If we get through that match still unbeaten top six has got to be within reach and more than realistic.

Not sure it is PW. The bees are good. I'll feel very optimistic after a win.

Just read an article on another site about the abuse some players get through social media. You often use to see it in the old days, someone at the front of the terraces hurling a tirade of abuse at a hapless full back (Peter Haddock maybe) who'd f**ed up, followed by ironic maniacal applause when the said fish was substituted. I could never get my head around it. Does that player play any better as a result? No, very rarely. Does his form suffer? Maybe, as if his confidence goes, half of his game goes with it. I always make a point of never leaving a game early and always applaud the team (unless they've been really poor) in which case I just leave quietly.
Nowadays the abuse is dished out by keyboard warriors on Twitter and the likes. Marco Silvestri had a barrage of abuse after his mistakes against Bristol City cost us a nailed on three points. Did his errors justify the amount of abuse he and his family received? Certainly not and luckily he appears to have got over it. The Cat will win us more points this season than cost us in my opinion and no player deserves this type of abuse, dished out by the sort of people who daren't say it to his face. It's our job as supporters to be the 12th man, not terrify our own players. Do, however, feel free to give any opposition players both barrels!

Rant, well and truly over.

Great post mm
At the end of the day 99.5% of sportsman genuinely do their best which is
The best they can do Some don't try but why and they are idiots.
Last year a gorilla size Aussie rules player pointed to a teenage female in the crowd for racially abusing him. She was thrown out
There is no excuse for verbally abusing ( mark Hughes and warlock excepted ) anybody
Social media. Twitter. Etc. let them do their best or worst
We have not and prob never will have their talent so. Give em a break

At the end of the day supporters pay to see there team so if someone makes an mistake or is not putting in a shift chances are the crowd will react .
I personally do try to be mindful in regard to comments on players and other personal and other posters .

A gorilla Ausman

Hehe

He did carry on just a tad too much

Could you imagine a game being stopped in England while they found an abuser ( just banter)

All LUFC games would last just a few mins

Interesting post MM, though Peter Haddock I remember came quite good under Wilko. Can you remember how Mark Aislewood was abused culminating with him sticking two fingers up at the Kop as he left the field. Wooten seems the one at the present, perhaps he's not good enough but would he be so nervous if the pressure from his own fans was so intense, maybe there's a good player in there just waiting to get out!

I only used Fish as an example Stickey. He was actually a very dependable player and one of my favourites when I was a lad. Yes, I can remember Aiselwood giving the Kop the bird. You're right about Wooten. I can imagine he's shaking like a sh**ing dog every time he gets on the pitch. I seem to recall last season he had a few very good games. Last year it wasCooper's turn for the boo boys and he's turned his game around.

Aizlewood's first problem was that he was Welsh. The second was that he wasn't particularly good.

You forget to mention he had a turning circle like the QE2, but apart from been rubbish & Welsh the abuse he got was over the top, I seem to remember he was in the under £5 column in the Swansea Gazzette classifieds when we signed him .

good post and interesting point.

I don't always see the point in giving players stick although I ahve been known to shout out oi varney you C. a few times. I think doing it online personal via twitter is wrong as it is direct and different to having an opinion on here as such (although if hockaday has tiwwter please let me know it or a home address or number as he would be my one expection) fans are entitled to opinions and having a pop but not always justicifed and can it ever do any good? probably not.

however one thing I saw at millwall I did think was amazing and did make me laugh.

a millwall fan was having a row with an away fan (britighon I think but all wall games blur into one dull gloom for me). The millwall fan was shouting when Alan dunne went to take a millwall throw. the fan shouted oi you, you c@@@ at which point dunne looked over to which the millwall fan shouted not you dunne, you're a f@@@@@g C''' I meant him (pointing to the fan). about millwall fans level but have to admit it did really make me chuckle

{Ed001's Note - it is Speedys secret love, the Owls of Owlerton next. I just have to find a way to shoehorn Leeds United into the text so it generates a link on here for him.....}

09 Sep 2015 15:23:50
Can you shoehorn Leeds on to Man U site?? Now that would be bragging rights

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hahaha I will have to have a think when I get that far, Leeds is one of the last ones on the list to be done. They takes hours to do so it might be a few days away yet, so it gives me time to figure out a way to do that.}

Just think. Next step would be Leeds mascot!

{Ed001's Note - I think Berm has that role tied up already once his current play is over......}

I think Rosler going to drop Byram to the bench for Brentford game and replace him with Botox. You got to admit the right-hand side of our midfield could do with a face-lift. Lol

"Ausman"

Interesting choice of name considering your nationality, the historic rivalry and your dislike of Aus sportsmen and this site being sport related.

To each their own I guess.
