Congratulations to Archie Gray getting a call up for the England U21s!

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Mar 2024 18:32:16
Feath Deserving he is. Will play for šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁄󠁮󠁧ó æ main team soon enough.

15 Mar 2024 14:57:42
Sounds like Pascal could be out for the season. Let's hope there are no injuries or suspensions for our top two at the back!

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Mar 2024 15:45:56
Jeez . he was initially suppose to be out for just 2 weeks or so.

Leeds United medical team hmm . past 5 years.

15 Mar 2024 16:10:35
Weā€™ve done ok without him so far Brighty, but we could do with him back, itā€™s just how much his confidence will have been hit after this injury and now this setback, but like you these bloody internationals worry me as injuries always seem to happen now and we would struggle losing one of our top two at the back, so Iā€™m praying for no injuries mate šŸ™šŸ™.

15 Mar 2024 17:33:38
Gutted for Pascal if thatā€™s the outcome Brighty, but cannot imagine Farke would have contemplated breaking up the current Amps and Rodon partnership.

Whilst it would have strengthened the squad overall it actually removes a selection headache.

15 Mar 2024 17:35:39
Yes bright might need an op. With him being out for so long he will not really feature this season anyway it will take him 3-4 weeks just to get to any sort of fitness. Let alone match fitness.

15 Mar 2024 18:34:15
What Class said. Adductor injuries tricky to recover.

15 Mar 2024 11:21:20
Ok, confused again. If we are serious about RB Samuel, why did we buy Roberts. Did he come knowing he would be back up?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Mar 2024 12:37:20
Roberts is on loan . not bought

We need 2 RBs.

15 Mar 2024 23:46:19
I think we will lose Jimmy and gnonto. Poss mez too.
None of our strikers bar possibly Joseph are good enough. Gray to midfield.
We need a good goalie. Two right backs, a left back, an attacking midfield and two to three strikers. And a replacement for Rodon if we donā€™t keep him.

16 Mar 2024 07:04:27
Iā€™d sign Roberts up as one of our two RBS.

15 Mar 2024 10:10:23
Are we going to win by 2 clear goals? Thoughts?
We should blow bermwall out the water but they are battlers and rarely get thumped and on a good run.
I actually think we will but that's because I don't think any champ team can live with us atm.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Mar 2024 11:39:45
Very nervous about this one. Will be in a club full of wall fans (most of whom Iā€™ve invited)

Harris certainly has them signing a tube again however I think we will win by the two goals needed ā€¦ we better because I canā€™t live with them burkes giving me stick all day!

15 Mar 2024 11:56:58
Thoughts on Joseph switching allegiances from England to Spain?

I guess I always thought of him as Spanish to begin with so not a big suprise for me. Was more suprised he played for England in the first place given his roots.

15 Mar 2024 12:03:42
Home advantage will help us thro this time, plus the nice break, which will hopefully also have a positive effect, rather than a negative one as sometimes happens! 3-1 for me.

15 Mar 2024 12:14:34
Think we win by 3 Aus, but thereā€™s two caveatsā€¦. we must score the first goal, and my last correct prediction was Ian Baird to score the next goal!

15 Mar 2024 12:35:44
Yep sorry Berm but the Wall will get thrashed by Super Leeds ( if correct line up chosen)

Leeds 4 vs Wall 0

Leeds crucially have also had 9 days to recharge batteries

This starting 11 will win 4 nil
Mes
Roberts
Rodon
Amps
Byram
Gruev
Gray
DJ
Summerville
Gio
Bamford

Note : Gnonto does NOT score at home nor play well he is much, much better in away matches

If Farke picks Gnonto instead of DJ . Leeds win 2 nil.

15 Mar 2024 12:41:33
Maybe MJ feels he has a better chance of getting into a Spain front line than an England one.

15 Mar 2024 13:11:44
Iā€™m going a squeaky 7-1 and a happy weekend for bermo.
Times are changing.

15 Mar 2024 13:54:44
Sorry that wasn't meant to be a reply, was meant to be a separate post lol.

15 Mar 2024 14:42:57
Dill. I suppose as a young lad schoolboy and u18s it was easier to play for England where he was living. Now he is older and can travel on his own he is free to play anywhere.
I think Spain haven't had a string of decent centre forwards in recent years so maybe he thinks there is more chance of top international games in Spain.
And I seem to think his dad is Spanish so he may have been influenced by dad to play for Spain.
Either team will be difficult to get to play for the senior team. Better going for Dominican Republic like firpo.

15 Mar 2024 15:47:37
Ben
Not sure Firpo even gets picked for Dominica Republic.

15 Mar 2024 18:43:50
Yeah that's a fair point Ben. Just hope he does well.

15 Mar 2024 19:17:41
Baz you are harsh! Firpo is not that bad. He is lower championship level to be sure. Just the physicality that he lacks. Haiti at home is just his bag.

15 Mar 2024 21:53:08
Yes Ben . Haiti, El Salvador, Guatemala. and JF would still be getting rinsed in defence.

16 Mar 2024 10:00:45
Well baz. At least he'll get a bit of sun out there . He has played in a lot of rain this season.

15 Mar 2024 01:25:47
Tonight's question : Gareth Southgate, why the long face?

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Mar 2024 07:59:26
Indeed. Especially when he has the backing of Paul Merson, who would ā€œbe amazed if England donā€™t win the Eurosā€¦ā€¦ā€! .?

15 Mar 2024 09:07:38
I do agree with mers on this one. We have best team in world football. No excuse not to win it! But then I say that every tournament.

15 Mar 2024 12:04:04
Lol Bermo! Me too!

15 Mar 2024 12:07:26
If we win anything it will be inspite of Southgate, not because of him. A woeful tactician who's been blessed with a world class squad, yet has failed in our biggest matches due to his poor decisions.

15 Mar 2024 12:23:07
France. Belgium. šŸ¤”.

15 Mar 2024 12:48:50
England certainly have more chance of winning Euros than a World Cup.

France will win it though imo

England really blew 2020 Euros . huge advantage of being at home, Southgate negative tactics, nothing special Italy.

15 Mar 2024 14:54:13
Agree that Southgate is too negative. The Italians were there for the taking in the last euros. We needed to push for the win but we managed to snatch defeat from the Jaws of victory.
Our great strong point in this squad is attack. Southgate will set up not to lose.
But I couldn't understand why we did not win something with stevie g lamps and Scholes.
And yes aus I cannot believe Belgium have done better with kdb lukaku hazard etc.

15 Mar 2024 15:48:11
Good post Ben 100% agree.

15 Mar 2024 15:56:46
A pretty good and fair assessment Ben.

I really liked that DOL had no fear of playing young players .100% trusted them . great for their confidence and it showed hugely on pitch and results.

14 Mar 2024 20:02:15
Interested to have any feedback from posters on their opinions on the STYLE of PLAY of David O'Leary teams 1997 to 2002?

Exciting?
Free flowing?
Attack minded?
Entertaining?
Goal bonanzas?

Yes or no?

Thoughts.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2024 20:29:06
Great to watch, good style, very naieve and ultimately would lose to the bigger teams.

I think o Leary was useless and threw away a great hand and should of done better.

Certainly enjoyed watching them but buy one less forward as we donā€™t need five strikers but get a decent left back as Ian heart will cost us goals!

14 Mar 2024 21:05:55
Just to add some BALANCE to very dubious myth/ rhetoric that DOL needed money to do well at Leeds United

1999/ 2000 season Leeds United under DOL finished 3rd behind EPL expensively assembled power teams Man U and Arsenal

plus Leeds United also reached the semi finals of the UEFA cup

They also won 10 games in a row playing scintillating football against EPL and European clubs

All this on a squad assembled on a very modest outlay comparatively speaking with most expensive signing in LUFC squad being Michael Bridges for just a very modest Ā£5 millon!

A modest inexpensive LUFC squad 1999/ 2000
Martyn
Robinson
Duberry
Hiden
Mills
Kelly
Harte
Haaland
Radebe
Woodgate
Batty
McPhail
Bakke
Hopkin
Jones
Bowyer
Huckerby
Kewell
Wilcox
Bridges
Smith.

14 Mar 2024 21:20:14
Sorry Berm but a manager cannot be ' useless ' if he achieves a 3rd place EPL finish and semi final of UEFA cup in 1999/ 2000 with a MODEST INEXPENSIVE team and squad. most expensive player being Michael Bridges at Ā£5 million .

Agree of course with your comments about 'great to watch, good style' .100% correct

Leeds did beat top team Arsenal THREE times under DOL though Berm

Agree also with your final paragraph. Left back was our major achilles heel defensively!

14 Mar 2024 21:53:24
I agree it was only when o Leary had money to spend it went wrongā€¦. Before that when he didnā€™t spend money things went better so I do agree.

I always judge managers but the hands they are dealt

O Leary had

Martyn, bowyer, radebe which were all Wilko siginings (if only we kept Wilko heā€™d of won everything! )

Then youth and home grown he had

Kelly, woodgate, smith, kwelle, mcpahial, hearte plus a few others

He also had everything managers needā€¦ time and money., so looking back did he do a good jobā€¦ for me noā€¦ he then went on and did awful at other clubsā€¦ o donā€™t rate him in top ten managers at leeds

Had a great hand and played good football but did not win as much as he should of.

14 Mar 2024 22:24:56
If my memory serves me correctly, we started to go downhill in O'Learys days when Brian Kidd left. He was the main man not O'Leary.
Bermo - radebe was useless under Wilko, was George Graham who made him into a world class CB so don't think he would've won everything.

14 Mar 2024 22:30:42
Berm interesting point re Wilko . i luv him . but maybe just maybe after 9 seasons as Leeds manager. he was jaded and way past his very best

And as for expecting Leeds United to win the EPL between 1997 to 2002 . Man U and Arsenal squads were on another level to Leeds United during that era . (even the 2001/ 02 squads) and it showed over 38 matches each time .

It even took Liverpool 30 years to win EPL . it certainly is very difficult to achieve.

14 Mar 2024 22:49:05
True I saw radebe under Wilko and he was a dm and far from great.

I also agree baz maybe Willkie time was up but I do think wilko broiught the players in to re build the team and with youth coming through we might of had a new golden age

We had some gems who for me was wasted under a very poor manager who went on to do nothing

I agree kid was the brains and if only we got Martin Oneil who apparently we was after!

14 Mar 2024 23:37:04
Err ILK and Berm its the exact opposite of what you say re Brian Kidd positive influence on LUFC first team results.

Kidd didn't even join Leeds until summer 2000.and Leeds best season and best football was the season before when Kidd wasnt evenat Leeds

Kidd was Leeds youth coach from Summer 2000 to March 2001 when he was promoted to Head Coach. so his only full season was the disappointing 2001/ 02 season .

Eddie Gray was far better as a Leeds coach during DoL era.

15 Mar 2024 07:32:43
I will take your judgement on that baz as I canā€™t remember but now you have said that that does make sense.

15 Mar 2024 07:43:09
DoL benefitted from the structure that George Graham put in place, and added a bit of flair. Anything positive he did (yes, it was good to watch, and yes he achieved some good things) was destroyed with losing the plot when given cash, and starting to believe his own hype and media glorification. The release of a pointless book, to make a quick Buck, destroyed any legacy he may have built, at a time when the world could have been his oyster. Did I ever mention that his daughter was amazingly fit tho?

15 Mar 2024 09:09:28
Yeah forgot about that poxy book, think he lost the dressing room with that.

Fit daughter though might redeem him.

Personally o Leary donā€™t make my top ten managersā€¦ if fact Iā€™d possibly place him in bottom ten.

15 Mar 2024 12:51:48
Berm you are funny

I believe there have been 45 Leeds managers in history Berm . not a chance you could name 35 managers who have been better for Leeds United. achieved more .

Try even 10 lol.

15 Mar 2024 15:19:32
My views on o'leary is that he dropped in on a team with good existing players and good talented youngsters coming through.
Unlike a wilko or revie that built a team over a few years oleary was presented with a ready made team.

This is not to say he couldn't of failed we all know managers who have failed with those talents before.
I think oleary being a young manager was just a good fit and brought the team together more with enthusiasm and drive than experience.

So attacking and all action energetic would be my description of his team. Probably over achieved a bit with a youthful squad at times.
He probably got found out as the team got older and had to develope and change.
Him and Ridsdale started to make a few wrong choices in recruitment.
A more experienced manager would have controlled the off the field shenanigans a little better but I did enjoy that era.

14 Mar 2024 17:19:13
Couple of things;
- Gareth Southgate is keeping an eye on Archie, and commented on his performances in his presser today.
- Southampton's rearranged fixtures will see them play 10matches in 36 days. That is some hefty congestion and could put paid to their hopes of automatic places?!

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Mar 2024 18:07:54
Is this Southgate trying to head off any potential advances from Scotland national team for Archie to represent them instead .

I wonder also what his grandad Frankie and great uncle Eddie šŸ˜ both fiercely proud loyal Scots would prefer he represents.

14 Mar 2024 18:12:18
Excellent news Brighty re Southamption congestion

And excellent that Leicester are stull distracted by FACup from league.

FACup was always an unecessary distraction for Leeds this season

So much better that Leeds United can focus this weekend on league ( rather than FACup) in beating Berms faves and going to top of table!

14 Mar 2024 18:25:56
He certainly should be looking at him Brighty but it seems he still has his focus firmly on Jordan Henderson - please someone tell me why?
I said it on here a couple of weeks ago, take Gray to the Euros this summer as a learning experience for the lad, then in two years time when he's 20 and the next World Cup is on he will know exactly what a big tournament feels like.
Henderson will be sitting at home with his feet up by then counting his Saudi money (all 6 months worth! ) .
Southgate will, unfortunately, never learn!

14 Mar 2024 20:30:41
To be fair Henderson done well in England shirt and been in good form since going Ajax, rice and bellingham to start as no-brainer but think he Derain has place in the squad but archice canā€™t be far away from squad.

14 Mar 2024 20:56:52
Baz John McGinn already did that.

Does the Manchester United Squad Size Matter?

14 Mar 2024 07:39:28
{Ed's Note - Shappy has posted a new article entitled, Does the Manchester United Squad Size Matter?

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Mar 2024 02:32:01
Tonight's question, why do players now scream in visible anger ( although really it's joy) on scoring a goal - contrast this to Sniffer when scoring in the cup final against the gooners. This is now even somewhat prevalent in the once gentlemanly sport of golf - the pros then wonder and complain because the crowd is becoming more "boisterous ". It all revolves around self importance and ego - what a shame!

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Mar 2024 04:41:44
I think itā€™s because they get a bonus if they score and they are all greedy gits.

14 Mar 2024 09:50:54
Watching Saka at weekend get a knock on his calf from a challenge for ball, was an absolute embarrassment

You would swear Micheal Myers attacked him .

Rugby union players must actually cringe at footballers level of theatrics,

14 Mar 2024 12:29:09
Agree Chris. Any rugby players though. Their bodies take a pounding. U imagine one of them going down with a tap on the ankle. Very weak and embarrassing for footballers. I accept there are some challengers that are unacceptable in football. But 80% are just a nudge nudge here. There a nudge. Here a nudge.
Itā€™s a shame a sport I love has such weak over paid idiots.

14 Mar 2024 13:29:19
Of equal annoyance are the prima Donna individuals who score a three yard tap in then will be seen physically push team mates away from them in order to exert as much adulation as is possible from their very different never been seen before celebration pose!

Sniffer one arm aloft but then jogged back to half way to go again, as he shook the hand of teammates.

Were all individualsā€¦. Iā€™m not spare me these idiots.

14 Mar 2024 14:07:11
Just a release of emotion I guess.

the theatrics after getting a tap are different though they are just after a foul but if things like VAR were applied properly it would be easy to stamp it out.

14 Mar 2024 14:11:10
I think the way to stop players feigning injury is to stop medical staff coming onto the pitch to treat him.

Stretcher the player straight off the pitch to be treated on the touchline. Let's see how injured he really is as the game continues without him.

14 Mar 2024 15:32:33
Hello CC. Nice to see šŸ™ˆ you.

14 Mar 2024 17:47:25
Iā€™ve said for years, diving, feigning injury or being a prat should get you a pink card

If issued with pink card you either

Have to play rest of game in sittelltos, canā€™t be could be opposition or a group of the fans are allowed to kick you in at half time/ full time

Sadly the fa did not pick up on my pink card ideaā€¦no idea why.

15 Mar 2024 07:46:49
I sense a pink card petition Bermo! Make it so! Iā€™ll shine maā€™ boots for the kickingsā€¦ā€¦šŸ¤£šŸ„¾šŸ„¾šŸ„¾.

15 Mar 2024 22:47:25
Hello Blanco pal , took to back seat of forum for most of season now . For no specific reason just tried to stay off phone a bit more

Drop in 1nce or 2wice week now is all lately

Big game approaching.

13 Mar 2024 18:41:10
Berm, Iā€™m so sorry to hear about your mum mate, I lost my dad in 2016 and itā€™s hurts everyday, so I feel your pain my friend. Iā€™m lucky to still have my lovely mum in my life but it scares the life out of me the thought of her not being, so I really mean my heartfelt thoughts are with you mate šŸ™šŸ™.

13 Mar 2024 22:00:12
Thanks woody that really means a lot mate and sorry to hear for your loss as well.

14 Mar 2024 00:45:07
Sorry to hear about your mum bermo
When you see star shining particularly brightly one night it will be her.

14 Mar 2024 01:19:33
Thanks Berm, you are a top man and one of the reasons I came back on here šŸ‘.

14 Mar 2024 10:51:29
Cheers woody that also means a lotā€¦ if I pass this n my wife contact details can you let her know as he canā€™t stand me and thinks Iā€™m a right Burke!

14 Mar 2024 12:19:21
lol Berm šŸ˜‚šŸ‡»šŸ‡³šŸ˜‚. I already know that feeling my friend! I got called an idiot this morning because I was fixing the outside post box that she had reversed into last week and placing it in a different position in the hope that she wouldnā€™t be hitting it again, but apparently Iā€™m an idiot because the postie might not realise where it is now! It is 2 foot away from its last position, ! There is something to be said for being a fully fledged singleton, why oh why did I abandon that life? šŸ¤¬šŸ¤¬šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚.

14 Mar 2024 17:45:08
Brilliant! She could also argue now she has hit it she know s where it is so moving it she could hit it again, very inconsiderate of you!
