Peter Ridsdale is to join Manchester United as their new Financial Director, Sir Jim Radcliffe said “ this club needs stability on the pitch and it’s need long term financial guidance off it, and Peter is our man” 😂😂.

13 Mar 2024 18:53:34
Said nobody ever! 😂😂😂.

13 Mar 2024 19:28:50
As long as he gets a new fish tank thrown in!

13 Mar 2024 19:38:42
Pistol Pete a tad unlucky given a raw deal by some Leeds fans.

13 Mar 2024 22:07:54
How can you seriously defend this man, success at any cost?!
It certainly cost our club by our huge demise for 16 years.
Did you enjoy all those years of mid table mediocrity in the Championship playing shjt football,? that was all thanks to pistol packing Pete playing Russian roulette with our club.
We are giving him a raw deal? You are insane.

13 Mar 2024 22:38:38
Ha a spot of Baz fishing. caught me an OP

I am not so much defending Pistol Pete .

just saying the guy was a tad unlucky with that crucial pivotal 2000/ 2001 season. (which was a difficult season because of off field matters which were not fault of PR) ,

18 UCL games getting to semis. and missing out on that crucial 3rd place ( and UCL qualification) by just 1 point .

so very close. had we qualified again for UCL. well.

13 Mar 2024 23:15:03
Baz Two words. First is Seth. Second is Johnson.

13 Mar 2024 23:42:22
Unfortunately Baz even if we had quailed for the Champions League that second time it would still of caught up with us, he was reckless in every purchase he made and every contract he signed over. He bought players for far too much and gave them same players what they wanted. His idea of factoring his buys was well documented and even years later we were still paying for footballers that had left, and one of our prized assets a certain Harry Kewell went to Liverpool and his agent got paid more money for him than we did, it was a complete farce that many of us today that were there then will never forgive him for. Just remember how we feel about Ken Bates, well Ridsdale’s actions led Leeds United to that horrible parasite! I do appreciate a lot of what you say Baz but I’m with OP on this and as a fan I followed us all over Europe then, we had fantastic nights, glorious weekends and I watched us play some of the best teams in the world, and win, but let me tell you that if I’d known what he was doing and how he was doing it I would of give my season ticket back, because I would of rather been a middle table team for the next 20 years than a 3 season wonder then obscurity for the next 20 years, just my opinion though chaps 👍MOT.

14 Mar 2024 00:16:44
Yep good post Woody pal.

One never knows if Leeds had qualified again for UCL in 2000/ 01 and 2001/ 02 . things may have been very different.

To be fair to PR before the meltdown season 2003/ 04 he did make profit on some players

he made a £10 milion profit on JFH . a £12 million profit on Rio and £9 million profit on Woodgate

Anyways .

14 Mar 2024 07:40:13
There is no “being fair” to that man. He nearly destroyed our club, and is to blame for everything, yes, everything, that came after. How he is still allowed on the directors register is way beyond me, as what he did was the utopia of financial mismanagement. (If that was what he was striving for…. erm, lol. Utopia! )

{Ed001's Note - he also did the same to Bradford and Plymouth afterwards.}

14 Mar 2024 08:42:11
Certainly was not defending Pistol Pete just offering a what if scenario of 2000/ 01 and 2001/ 02.

14 Mar 2024 16:55:35
You said some fans give him a raw deal!
I guess that means you are defending him.

Look we all enjoyed that period for those few seasons with the European nights, but like Woody put it, I would change all of that any day for a mid to lower table but stable position in the Premiership had I known the catastrophic events that ensued.
Boom and bust, never again.

14 Mar 2024 17:51:29
Personally as a Leeds fan bought up on Revie success . trophies top 2 or 3 team evey season

what OP and Woody would settle fo a perpetial mid to lower table team seems awfully meh imho.

A bit more luck on pitch and not off field player distractions in 2000/ 01 things may have been different .

14 Mar 2024 18:48:02
I can see where you are going with this Baz but with the way he was balancing the books it was inevitable that the wheels would come off, there was far to much financial pressure to hit those heights every season and it began to show with the reckless managerial appointments and the money spent getting them, it was complete false accounting and like I said it only ends up one way! If Ridsdale’s financial plan was that good lots of financial directors of clubs would have been doing it but he was on his own! The one good thing to come out of it is that I for one appreciate what we have now a lot more than I bet did. It’s great to reach for the stars, but the fall is to painful and very unforgiving and especially when we became many pundits favourite quips by saying “let’s hope they don’t do a Leeds” never don’t do a Ridsdale it was always don’t do a Leeds! See my point Baz? 👍MOT.

14 Mar 2024 18:53:07
You are a plonka Baz, we didn’t even win a trophy in that time! If we had i might say it was worth it.
You were dreaming if you thought it could have been successful with O’Dreary.
I personally look back at this period as a false dawn, the darkest time in our history because it was not real.
The two people running it was the clown and his fool.
If you are deranged enough to think this time was anything to compare with the Revie years then I pity you.

14 Mar 2024 19:39:44
Yep I see your point of course Woody, eloquently put, well balanced as ever.

Shame about OP tacky bitter response 😀.

14 Mar 2024 19:44:58
Not buying also either of you being genuinely content for long with meh lower to midtable mediocrity year upon year . seriously.

14 Mar 2024 22:28:43
I say it again, he won nothing! It’s no different from being mid table.
What’s so great about winning a big fat nothing?
An empty dream for which we paid the ultimate price for, two decades of hurt and that was worth it in your opinion. Seriously!

14 Mar 2024 23:25:42
Imo Leeds United gave it 100% everything ( 3rd, 4th) in all seasons except the final DOL season 2001/ 02 .2nd half of season imploded for various reasons. injuries, discontent .

But seriously . Man U and Arsenal dominated 1996 to 2004 EPL era.

Yet OP you expect Leeds United to beat BOTH of these these teams to win EPL. Easy? . Seriously why? How?

15 Mar 2024 00:33:30
In all honesty Baz I really would have been happy sitting in mid table mediocrity than languishing in the lower leagues dangling by a string! We missed being part of a massive change in Premier League revenue shares, it really was a good time to be in the premiership but because we were financially irresponsible while we were there we paid for it with our demise and we were a laughing stock, an embarrassment, so for me Baz it’s a yes, give me mid table rather than go through all that again, I’m 1 Million per cent with OP on this one 👌we as Leeds supporters through and through we’re robbed of many years in the premiership, I followed them everywhere, but let me tell you that one season I’m going to The Nou Camp then 2 seasons later I’m going to Prenton Park and many many other low capacity grounds, it was painful and those glory nights in the Champions League were soon forgot mate I tell you. We were nobody’s and everybody’s cup final, we had £20M players replaced with £250K players and an owner called bastard Bates! I’m so happy we are financially stable now with great owners and a bloody great manager, I like many diehards pray that we never want to see those days again! 🙏🙏.

15 Mar 2024 03:00:22
Woody fair dos . another compelling well written post from you.

15 Mar 2024 06:10:05
It is well explained by Woody but the same point that I make. Your ignorance is bewildering. though I think it’s more personal against me that you detest the idea of agreeing anything that I post, especially when it contreviens your opinions.

Find me a Leeds fan who thought Peter Ridsdale was good custodian of our club and the fans who would honestly exchange the trophy less period with the inept O’Leary and the CL semi final for longevity in the Premiership, even if it was mid table for a large period.
For the time that seemed like an eternity, dangling by a thread, as Woody put it, in the lower leagues watching rubbish football and having evil thieves like Papa Smurf and GFH taint our beloved club.

When does reality click in Baz?

15 Mar 2024 07:53:54
Let me add weight to what OP has said; Smurf, GFH et al, would NEVER have got their stinking little grubbies on our club, had it not been for that criminal Ridsdale. And as Ed said, he was then allowed to go on and do it elsewhere! Unfeckingbelievable! (Add Barnsley and Cardiff to his list) . The man was an egotistical whopper of the first order, who, incidentally, lives his own life in a similar vein. Looks rich, but it’s all on tick!

{Ed001's Note - you are right I forgot about those 2! And each time he put a club into bankruptcy he was able to pay himself over £500k into his personal account just before the adminstrators arrived to take over. I think it was something like £635k from Leeds, IIRC.}

13 Mar 2024 11:25:03
A bit slow on here the past few days. Feel free to make up a false, funny but blatantly untrue rumour about Leeds United.

Liverpool are lining up Daniel Farke to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer.

Likely that Farke will make Archie Gray his first signing!

13 Mar 2024 12:53:28
Farkes record in prem have caught the interest of mancs and pool. Both want cooper and firpo as part of the deal.

13 Mar 2024 12:57:21
As long as he takes Firpo with him . all good.

13 Mar 2024 13:16:45
My predictions will be 110% correct for the remainder of the season as they have been previously,

including the plan to ground share with Ambrosia whilst we move into our new stadium picked up for a bargain £1million, by a consortium in desperate need of money located in Bramley-Moore Dock.

13 Mar 2024 15:30:52
That last prediction was - Class, Class. I think. Just give me a moment.

13 Mar 2024 16:14:03
Cleggy - I've heard 'pool are interested in Marsch.
Citeh are in Steve Jones when Pep leaves.
Man U are seriously considering offering Dave Hockaday ten Haag's job at the end of the season.
Heard it all from my mates dog who was walking past Fabrizio Romano's house in Beeston.

13 Mar 2024 16:27:58
We will win the Play Offs!

13 Mar 2024 17:23:43
LOL ILK - wouldn't it be great if the first line came true:)

13 Mar 2024 18:00:26
Firpo ain't that bad, Baz. 5 assists this season has helped loads. Moreso than any defensive frailties have negated.

13 Mar 2024 18:01:12
Having said that, we do need a LB in the summer 😅.

13 Mar 2024 19:35:48
Dilli We're allegedly in for Luca Netz.

13 Mar 2024 19:43:14

Suggestion for DF. I'd like to see DJ start remaining home 🏡 games. His goal scoring record at ER impressive and invariably he's a first half scorer, an early first half scorer too, never a bad thing. Who to drop? Not necessarily Gnonto but equally Willy is excellent away from home as his skill set, style of play really suits playing on the break. I believe all Willy goals have in fact come away this season. Potentially DJ for home then Willy takes his berth away. These last 9 fixtures crucial and I'd like to see us score more goals because I know we can.

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Mar 2024 16:27:32
Very good competitive enhanced edge observation and suggestion George.

So yes please Mr Farke :

DJ to start remaining 5 home games with his superb goalscoring ( first goal ) form at ER

And WG to start remaining 4 away games having scored ALL 7 of his goals away

WG having NOT scored at ER all season is intriguing as to why.

11 Mar 2024 17:32:48
Thank you 🙏 Baz.

As for your intriguing as to why, perhaps part of the reason he wanted to leave to play in the EPL. He probably doesn't care to play against low to mid blocks but suited more to the attractive free flow game in the division above. This is why he fairs better away because most home teams in the Championship try to play on their own ground and it comes down to quality on that stage (which Leeds win most of the time because we have much better caliber players) .

DJ seems to be the reverse (great to have for variety) hence his erstwhile struggles higher up. DJ is very direct and pacy which is precisely what's required at home when facing a somewhat defensive side.

11 Mar 2024 18:30:22
I think that’s what Farke has already cottoned on to by dropping Willy for James in the game against Stoke.
They are both playing very well and scoring goals, long may it continue.

11 Mar 2024 22:18:25
Was thinking same George.
In saying that Gnonto is the better finisher than James. For a wide man he very clinical in his finish’s.
Nice to have options though.

11 Mar 2024 23:41:12
Baz, George has articulated what i was trying to put across in an earlier thread. Gnonto and archie in away games and in tight situations have a good understanding and keep and build up the play well. Dj and roberts are more direct and give that urgency to the attack.
In my opinion there is little to choose between the two pairings. It has also made our right even more productive than the left.
What a choice farke has.

12 Mar 2024 01:37:10
Yes fair dos Ben.
Good post.

10 Mar 2024 14:27:23
I can't think of a more nauseating sight on a sporting football field than John McGinn's ugly, cynical mug.

Agree8 Disagree0

10 Mar 2024 14:35:57
Great great player though. Have to be honest been a huge admirer of his since his days in the championship

Glad to see spurs beating them though!

10 Mar 2024 14:52:20
John McGinn is a ' Great great player ' said no one ever!

Jeez Berm and his excessive hyperbole 🙄

A ' great, great player ' in midfield position would be a Johnny Giles a Patrick Vieira etc.

10 Mar 2024 15:13:55
He’s not a great player, by any measure. He’s a cynical thug, who is happy to dish it out, but can never take it. There are those players who you don’t like, but your begrudgingly accept they’re a good player and would like them in your side: McGinn is definitely not one of them.

Great to see him get his just desserts today.

Let’s not forget the filthy cowardly foul on Archie a couple years ago, who was a schoolboy at the time.

10 Mar 2024 15:20:21
Berm You do realize he almost ended Archie's career before it had even begun?

10 Mar 2024 15:47:31
OP It was me who was unsure about Farke not Baz and I am still of the same opinion he may be ok in the championship but as his record stand not much good in the premiership and as you all talk about records on here my opinion stands.

10 Mar 2024 17:19:47
Aaaaand, he’s off….! 🤣🤣🤣.

10 Mar 2024 17:50:18
Like Cork said, I’ll take a toke of the same.
Or maybe not! 😱.

10 Mar 2024 18:35:46
Ani But don't you realize Clough the best manager of Leeds and John "I lost it in the lights, boss" Lukic the greatest ever goalkeeper for Leeds?

10 Mar 2024 19:26:44
McGinn is Michael Brown but a bit better.

10 Mar 2024 19:38:39
Berma gone into hiding?

10 Mar 2024 20:26:11
Baz He calls you Gaz so now we call him Germ. 🤣.

10 Mar 2024 20:34:35
McGinn is like Michael Brown without the good bits!

10 Mar 2024 20:47:38
'Germ' sounds contagious 😂.

10 Mar 2024 20:52:11
OP, Cork, You need a fix really is a bad sign of your times🤪.

10 Mar 2024 22:53:59
Sorry out at a memorial for my dead mum on Mother’s Day but keep it coming gaz and George. Again not a threat but I’d love both of you to grow half a back bone to meet me.

I will be honest I forgot about the challenge on Archie which was awful

As for no one praising McGinn. James wars prose said he is the best midfelider in the prem at the moment and a huge reason for villas success

I would not go that far but I don’t think anyone can say he is not one of the better midefeilders in the best leauge in the world on current form at the moment.

Not saying we have to like him, but think we have to respect his form.

10 Mar 2024 23:42:53
Mcgynn in my opinion is a good solid prem midfielder. And probably playing the best football of his career at the moment. He is strong quite sharp in pace and he drives villa's midfield on. He is also combative and got sent off today.
A character to hate for opposition fans but if he played in your team he would be a fan favourite.

10 Mar 2024 23:58:48
Well said Ben I fully agree I have always rated and hated him, bit like I would of hated lee bowyer if he wasn’t leeds.

Also George for the snype on my leeds tastes

I know lukic ain’t the gray leeds keeper but he was and will always be my boyhood hero

As for clough no not the vest manager for leeds but the beat manager to ever manage leeds.

Let’s be honest as a person he has won more champions leagues than us in the history of our club… how can we not say he was the best?

11 Mar 2024 00:18:05
Berm So by your metric Ian Rush an LUFC goal scoring legend?

11 Mar 2024 01:52:46
Clough Berma? Give over fella

1) Uber gobby disaster foot in mouth "Don Revie hating", "Leeds United hating" Brian Clough (crucially without the calming influence and brain of Peter Taylor) rampaged into my great club like a fricking bull in a China shop . an absolutely ludicrous calamitous decision by LUFC board. worst ever!

2) Clough overrated imo

In 1979 Forest in European Cup ( Champions League it was NOT Berma) had to beat just 5 teams to win :

Forest had a pretty easy set of rounds except one round

Besides Liverpool, they played against just AEK Athens, Grasshoppers, Koln and Malmo fgs

In 1980 even easier 5 teams including Mickey mouse minnows lesser teams

Osters,
Arges Piteshi,
even Dynamo Berlin and Hamburg were not all that.

So nah to Berma

I rate the GREAT Don Revie and indeed even Peter Taylor far more than Clough.

11 Mar 2024 04:47:49
What Bazadamus said.

11 Mar 2024 07:57:34
What Bermo and Ben said re Mcginn. He would be loved by all of us, if he was ours. It’s wrong to dismiss his abilities on a terrible challenge on Archie 18months ago.

11 Mar 2024 08:35:54
George let me explain it for you…. I said not the vest manager for leeds but the beat manager to manger leeds

So for your arguement Ian rush is not a goalscoring legend for leeds but he is one of the greatest players to play for leeds…. Again look at the titles he has won … more than our club in its history

And if it was easy to win back then… just five games…. Why didn’t we win it back then… it was the same competition

I do t mind both of you being rude and often nasty but I can’t stand stupidity on any level

Clough had it easy back then… when he managed the same time as revie? Honestly must be something in the water

Also George and baz thanks for the sympathy y… you was calling me out all day yesterday, I explain I was at a Mother’s Day memorial for my dead mum (she was 54 when she died) and not a word from you… you just keep piling in….

You are both real assest to this forum and people like you both make this site a far better place.

11 Mar 2024 09:38:02
Yes bright the archie challenge was wrong it's part of the player he is. Archie was on the field of a men's football match tackles and fouls happen. We wouldn't have wanted batty or vinnie to start pulling out of challenges so I don't think mcgynn should either.

Baz if clough and his achievements were that easy or overrated why didn't more teams do it? Why do so many ex clough players still talk about him and talk about his influence. And quite a few are good coaches and managers now.
It was a bad fit him coming to Leeds and that was his big head thinking he could change any team. But it doesn't belittle the work he did with his other sides.

11 Mar 2024 10:10:57
So sorry to hear your mum passed far too soon berm, I certainly understand that kind of pain and loss when losing my own mum when I was 17 and she was only 42.

But you honoured her passing fella, as any good son should and could have done, so please don’t let any ignorance or silliness take you away from what is most important on a day like yesterday.

Emotions get high every year on Mothering Sunday, especially for those of us without their mothers, but take a breather berm, take some time out if necessary for we can only control our own morals and values at any given time.

11 Mar 2024 10:50:42
Sadly I know some Villa fans and they are all very much in align with the fact that McGinn is a huge influence on their team.
I never liked him because of that cynical tackle on Archie but I can understand that he is a top midfielder and is one of the main reasons for Villas recent success in the Premiership.

Revie was a great club manager who should have won more prestigious trophies than he did. Clough was a great manager who won more prestige trophies.
Sadly for Revie his career nosedived when he took on the England job, he wanted to change many things with the structure of England international football but unfortunately for him he had several enemies in the FA who shelved his unwanted ideas.
He was a flop for England but would have Clough been? We’ll never know that answer.

11 Mar 2024 11:00:33
Berm ; my commiserations for the passing of your mum.

11 Mar 2024 11:12:56
Ben ; Leeds were cheated out of it in final of 1975 against Bayern Munich by scandalous ref ( having beaten the likes of Barcelona and Anderlecht in semis and quarters in a far harder level of games than Clough had )

Liveroool won several, Villa won in 1981 . even Aberdeen won Cup winners cup!

Its not rocket science its far harder to WIN Champions League than European Cup . much more games . and significantly many more quality sides involved . much, much higher standard

Forest played the " mighty " Malmo and the " mighty " Hamburg in finals lol .

11 Mar 2024 11:15:51
Yes sorry berm to hear that you lost your mum too soon. We all expect to loose parents at some time but 54 is no age. I hope yesterday was a fitting memorial.
Memories and stories shared. Glasses raised between the tears.

Ignore baz and George they're just being mean!

11 Mar 2024 11:26:09
Great post Ben, football is often opinions and also often logic and your logic is spot on

Class sorry to hear that mate and loved what you said, very true and very wise words thank you mate.

And thank you baz that means a lot.

11 Mar 2024 11:33:18
OP .

Clough without Taylor would have achieved far, far less

And Clough and his very controversial outspoken ways suited to day 2 day club football;

His temperament would never have been suited to the FA as his boss ( neither were fans of each other)

nor the sporadic frequency of international football management
AiMO.

11 Mar 2024 13:11:51
OP Don wasn't a flop, more mediocre for 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Had a win % of 48. Would have been better had he not been disliked as much.

11 Mar 2024 13:15:25
Berm My condolences on the passing of your mum.

11 Mar 2024 14:36:24
Absolutely George
. a 48% win rate can not be deemed a 'flop'

Ben I am guessing that you ( and Berm) may not have seen the 1979 and 1980 European Cup finals. have a watch. both were underwhelming in quality.

11 Mar 2024 15:48:20
Baz I have seen at least one of the finals I think the 1980. I think with clough it wasn't just the euro campaigns but the teams he built with forest nd Derby. Done with less money or with young or unfancied players. But I agree his partnership with Taylor was probably key to his success but that doesn't diminish his effect on his players.
It would appear revie and clough made poor choices of employ at that point.

11 Mar 2024 16:31:27
Clough definitely spent ( lots of ) money at Forest Ben . he broke the British transfer record signing Trevor Francis from Brum

First £1 million pound player.

11 Mar 2024 16:42:46
I also saw the cup finals and no doubt we was cheated against Byern.

As myself and Ben were not part of that age I think we are able to be less baised.

No doubt clough needed Taylor, but as Ben said clough built up both derby and forest both of which are amazing achievements.

My problem with revie while he was great and of course I love him… however I think he should of won far more than he did…. If you put circumstances next to each other I think clough winning more with less fancied derby and forest must be seen better than reive winning less with one of the greatest teams ever assembled… leeds were that good so why did we win so little?

Of course that said nothing brings me more joy than watching that team on video just amazing to watch… but did they win enough? I think you have to say no.

Also as non-biased every one I spoke about don as England manager have said he was awful… I think his England career is not looked on faverably outside of leeds… which I think could be rose tinted glasses or maybe everyone outside of leeds are harsh… which could also be the case.

11 Mar 2024 17:05:23
Doesn’t matter what the format of a tournament was/ is. Only one team can win it each year.

11 Mar 2024 23:52:46
It's always the same some jobs are just not the right fit. Dirty leeds manager at England. Clough who showed his distaste for revies tactics at Leeds. Chelsea legend wise as Leeds manager.
Gary neville managing anywhere.
I know there are more bad fits.

12 Mar 2024 06:53:35
George there’s no hiding the fact that Revie was not a good fit for the England job and his failure is well documented. He was an out and out club manager dealing with the day to day of national league football.
There’s no shame in it, he was highly successful at Leeds and a legend of the club.

I’ll be the first to praise Amps and James but you have measure in that this is only the Championship, as James with his time in the Prem with three different clubs, he hasn’t really shone like he has in the Champo.
Having said that both of these players have matured and hopefully they will both not be out of place in the premiership
This also applies to Farke, an outstanding Championship coach but can he have success in the Premiership?
With all the great football we are seeing with our team right now, it shouldn’t be ignored that there is a great divide between the two Leagues.
My personal thoughts are that if the 49ers back Farke, he will keep us in the Premiership if promoted.

10 Mar 2024 16:08:41
He had millions at Norwich.

10 Mar 2024 16:33:03
Millions of what?

10 Mar 2024 16:58:35
Cork Well plagiarized from One Leeds Fan Channel! 😄🤣.

10 Mar 2024 17:16:10
I have seen Conor’s channel George but if he said same as me well he’s a smart lad.

10 Mar 2024 18:03:37
Cork Amps is my player of the season.

10 Mar 2024 18:14:54
Farke did have money at Norwich in the prem but as with bielsa nowhere near enough.
Farkes Norwich did not fair well in the Premiership as if memory serves.
If leeds do go up this year we will have a better deeper squad than last time.

10 Mar 2024 19:52:10
100% George.

10 Mar 2024 19:53:43
Whiteman, that's just not accurate at all, mate.

When they went up to the EPL for the 19/ 20 season they had barely F all. Biggest expenditure that season was Sam McCallum for £4.15m. Next biggest signing was Sam Byram at £830k. Net spend was £-6.62m.

The second time they went up under Farke, 21/ 22, they had lost their most integral player in Buendia (sold for £38.4m) and spent £63.55m, meaning net spend was £-25.15m. They would've had barely F all again had they not sold Buendia. Furthermore, that season for every £100 earned they paid out £88 in wages. Their finances were very poor.

You can't seriously think that's an adequate amount of money to A. replace your most influential player and B. build a team of EPL calibre. It's peanuts in today's game.

Farke worked on a shoestring budget. Something which he won't have to do if we get promoted.

10 Mar 2024 20:20:09
Spot on Dill. Was going to say exact same but without the actual numbers!

10 Mar 2024 20:39:01
Gotta thank transfermarkt, they did all the heavy lifting 🤣

Deffo underfunded in his time there.

And fwiw, they played some decent football at times, but the talent just wasn't good enough, so I have no nerves about Farke succeeding in the EPL with financial backing.

10 Mar 2024 22:54:56
Good post dill. I knew farke did not have much backing when Norwich went up but I thought it was a bit more than you that.
When A team win promotion as Ipswich did last year the need to try to continue the momentum of that season is key.

10 Mar 2024 22:55:37
Great post Dillinger

Farke had pennies… just as reference didn’t Belisa spend something like 150 million in one window?

11 Mar 2024 00:10:52
I think you are referring berm to 20-21 season. According to transfermarkt. co. uk it 127 mil for the full year and they are putting jka transfer in that as well 21 mil.
Is a good sum but considering the injuries we carried it was a drop in the ocean.

11 Mar 2024 08:22:10
Stuart Webber was a notoriously tight Sporting Director in his time at Norwich, which is why I was extremely dubious when we got linked with him to follow Farke.

I wanted Dmitri de Conde from Genk (emphasis on youth progression and possession based players) in the summer, but things seemed to have worked out better than fine with recruitment this season, Spence debacle aside.

11 Mar 2024 08:42:36
Very true mate we also spent a fair few quid getting up
People talk about bubs turning us around but he spent 20 million ( know that for fact this was the final fee) on bamford alone who was huge player for us… signings like this ate huge in championship

Bubs had his merits and his downfalls farke is just class on every level…. We are very lucky to have him.

11 Mar 2024 11:23:21
Just to add I think we all agree amps, kamara and gruev are all bargains. Plus if we add archie to that we have got a very solid midfield for less than 20 mil.
Bargain.
If only our previous owners could have done that?

12 Mar 2024 14:08:07
Bamford was £8m rising to £10m based on appearances.

10 Mar 2024 11:48:25
I know its all ifs buts and maybes but in the last 12 games.

Leicester. 20 points
Ipswich. 24 points
Southampton. 23 points
Leeds. 34 points.

Same points per game for the last 9 games leaves the finish as.

Leeds. 104 points
Leicester. 97 points
Ipswich 96 points
Southampton. 90 points

Obviously form etc so just a bit of fun!

10 Mar 2024 12:12:29
As long as we beat the worst team every to walk this plant and stick one up on Harris I will be happy .

10 Mar 2024 12:44:55
I’ll have what whiteman puffing!

10 Mar 2024 13:58:48
😂😂😂 funny Corky mate, very funny 😂😂😂.

10 Mar 2024 14:13:12
Leicester fans will go into absolute meltdown if they bottle it and don't go up

As far back as last November they were ( unwisely) proclaiming that Leicester were guaranteed up.

10 Mar 2024 14:25:16
Lovely to have you back Woody mate. Too many gooduns have left us .

10 Mar 2024 14:28:53
I think Leicester found it easy to start with. The premier league players strutting around in the first few months sweeping teams aside.
Now after playing lots of games week in week out . Dodgy pitches at nowhere grounds. They're finding it hard. Teams are scrapping now for play offs or against relegation. This is the time to stand up. Who has got the most fight left.

10 Mar 2024 15:48:15
Cheers Corky, really kind of you mate, in truth I’ve missed not posting but I’ve always been reading the posts, I’ve not been good as I got diagnosed with cancer, a rare cancer called a GIST so 3 operations later and I’m back stronger than ever after being told I had 16 to 24 months left so I’m very grateful to be still here, and in between I got married, so it’s been really busy.

Reading the posts did keep me going especially the funny ones, there are a lot of good lads in here, just some are more funny than others! lol cheers though mate, it’s because of you and a few others that I wanted to come back on here 👍👍.

10 Mar 2024 15:51:31
CORKWHITE you must have been to the Den it’s full of.

10 Mar 2024 17:20:51
Keep positive Woody. I believe that being positive helps us no end. Congrats on your wedding mate 🥂.

10 Mar 2024 17:24:49
Jebus Woody! Even more pleased that you’re back after reading that! Congratulations on the marriage, and fingers crossed the health boost continues!

10 Mar 2024 17:56:29
Thanks Corky and Brightwhite, glad to be here, don’t know about the married bit though lol 😂😂.

10 Mar 2024 18:21:23
Great to hear you’ve made a sensational recovery Woody, courage and positivity always helps and I’m sure you are not short of that.
Congratulations on your marriage also 👏🏻🥂
Leeds being promoted, the glory days are on their way mate.
Marching On Together.

10 Mar 2024 18:38:16
🪵y Double congratulations 💐🎉.

10 Mar 2024 19:39:55
Yep many congrats Woody pal. pleased for you.

10 Mar 2024 20:01:17
Thank you all for your kind words, it really is good to chat with you all again. First time married for me at 56 not bad, I’ve managed to stay happy all these years but now I’ve come crashing down to earth! lol. 😂 life’s good chaps and now I’ve retired early and time to enjoy what’s left starting with a fantastic promotion to the Premier League as Champions, 🙏 now that would be good eh, thanks again lads 👍👍.

10 Mar 2024 20:02:49
All the best Woody 👊.

10 Mar 2024 20:05:12
Great to see you back Woody. Used to read your posts long before I joined so marvellous to see you back on here and fighting all the way.

Best Wishes :)))

11 Mar 2024 08:43:05
Good to see you back mate and congratulations.

10 Mar 2024 03:42:11
So next Sunday 17th of March 2024 ST PATRICK'S DAY

Leeds United will be TOP of CHAMPIONSHIP on GOAL DIFFERENCE!

If they beat Millwall by 2 clear goals!

Who would have thought on that happening

Patrick Bamford scoring for Leeds United on St Patrick's Day would be most apt! 💪.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 Mar 2024 04:27:45
Be more fitting to win by 4 leaf clover. Paddy hat-trick and Stuey makes the bench and comes off it to score.

10 Mar 2024 06:03:39
Yes. Every possibility we will be top. How strange.
Both prem and champ turning into a right tussle. My dad’s a gooner.
Talking of gonners. Ipswich would have been gutted last night. Hilarious. See how they bounce back. Got easy one next though. 😕.

10 Mar 2024 06:53:16
There are no easy ones at this stage in the season. Wall are no pushover and will be eager to take our scalp so we must be at our best again and continue our tremendous run of form.

10 Mar 2024 09:22:25
Our form since jan is astonishing. Even not at our best we grind out results.
The start of the season was to be expected but the wobble in Nov Dec was costly.
I don’t think teams expect to beat us now. I think they park and try and sneak a lucky one. Home or away.
It’s going to be a battle to the end. Whereas I do doubt his game lineups and subs most of the time. Can’t deny he has got a bonded team, a winning spirit and exciting football. Long may it continue.

10 Mar 2024 09:52:52
Agree we have been class, what I love the most is even when playing poorly we still get result

I use to us playing well and losing! When we go up we need to back farke and build the man a statue.

10 Mar 2024 10:07:34
Leicester and Ipswich went of like trains at the start of the season. How many sides start like that and then fade towards the end.
Hull gave leicester a right game yesterday and deserved to win in my opinion. Mind we play hull at Easter. They are playing decent football. It will be tricky even at home.
Ipswich still have one or two tough away days to come so they could drop a few more points.
Hopefully we can continue with a win at Millwall.

10 Mar 2024 11:10:44
Well definitely not you Baz as you’ve had no faith in this Leeds team and Farke from the start of this season.

10 Mar 2024 11:40:36
Op I think the word you are looking for and one gaz has failed to say is this

He was wrong… I have comic thoughts of gazza looking in the mirror trying to say I was wrong but stuttering, slurring speech and slapping himself round the face!

While dancing naked to Ed sheran of course!

{Ed001's Note - that's just depraved! I mean I get everything else but Ed Sheeran? No one could sink that low surely?}

10 Mar 2024 12:55:44
Could be worse… could be spice girls. I can see baz giving it some to spice up your life!

10 Mar 2024 13:58:27
Well my dear OP

after a very dodgy December

when Leeds United lost THREE away matches

( which was 100% correctly predicted on this forum by " Sir Nostra Baz The Oracle " 😎 )

Noone, not even you OP, envisaged an absolutely remarkable transformation turnaround in fortunes in 2024 with Leeds United winning virtually every game 13 or 14 wins!

Kudos to DF and LUFC. fair dos.

10 Mar 2024 14:00:18
Ed Sheeran is an Ipswich fan so that might explain it! 😂😂.

10 Mar 2024 14:05:18
Who is this “they” team Baz? Surely you mean “we”……?

10 Mar 2024 14:14:18
Bright When I made that observation, my post was edited by the Eds so it was removed but when you post it, it's ok.

10 Mar 2024 14:16:38
Ok Brighty ' we' .

10 Mar 2024 14:40:50
I think the songs have changed from Ed sheran to cindy Laupers true colours!

Gaz I see your true colours shining though, we see your true colours you support Ipswich but we still love you

But don’t say they when you mean we, true colours, true colours.

10 Mar 2024 14:54:52
Nah Berma try to think the GREAT Freddie Mercury. at least get something right for once 🤔.

10 Mar 2024 15:21:53
What do you mean Baz? I said at the the beginning of the season we would be Campeonies of this league, got absolutely diddley squat with our results in December. I was not fazed.
As far as I see it, you have just about got everything wrong with our club this season which if I may say, is not a surprise.
The image of you dancing in front of the mirror naked repeating I’m wrong, I’m wrong, I’m wrong again (Cindy Lauper style) is quite scary but apt. 🤣.

10 Mar 2024 15:24:47
Bazadamus Berm never received his true colours of KP.

10 Mar 2024 15:47:22
Nah OP got plenty right this season as in previous seasons.

You being more accurare 8n league position had to happen eventually after your wholly erroneous previous predictions

A few reminders

2021/ 22 OP prediction 6th Leeds finished 17th!

2022/ 23;OP prediction 10th Leeds 19th relegated!

10 Mar 2024 15:49:59
Indeed Georgey
I hear that Bermo loves golden oldie musician Bob WELCH track ' Easy to fall'

10 Mar 2024 14:08:03
Lol Ed0025 . no need to worry . there was a post on here previously from Chris asking for posters fave musicians

I can assure you that neither Ed Sheeran nor the Spice Girls were on my list reply.

Au contraire the GREATEST SHOWMAN and vocalist ever on earth Mr Freddie Mercury most certainly was!

I do recall Cockney Berma had Chas and Dave as his faves 😀🤣.

10 Mar 2024 16:20:10
Baz for someone who changes his predictions like the wind direction, I’m afraid you’ve got very little to take credit for. Everybody knows it, they’re not stupid.

10 Mar 2024 16:48:49
Changed my mind on league position this season ONLY OP . it's been an very unusual season

Previous season I said from the very beginning of season Leeds would be relegated. you and many others stated all season there was " no way Leeds United will be relegated "

Guess what : you were all wrong!

10 Mar 2024 17:27:23
That’s an odd one, George, as I expect to be censored quite often! 🫣🤣.

10 Mar 2024 17:40:13
Baz, newsflash!
We all knew we were going to struggle last season, especially with the inept Marsch, most of us wanted him sacked before the World Cup.
The writing was already on the wall when he wasn’t.

There was no surprise from any Leeds fan that we were going to be relegation fodder, but as a Leeds fan you live in hope that we would not be relegated, hence the optimism to survive.
So your amazing insight that we would be relegated was not such great insight, just an irritating reminder that we knew we were going to be.
There’s no getting away that you vastly got it wrong this season, don’t know why you can’t own it?

10 Mar 2024 18:27:06
OP changing the facts, his mind, moving goalposts as ever.

. you were adamant OP that Leeds would have good season 10th . "no way would be in a R battle " . " no way relegated " you said frequently

These are your words your posts OP. fact.

10 Mar 2024 19:57:13
Please stop the Baz dancing naked talk as it’s a vision I don’t wish to have.

10 Mar 2024 20:06:27
Pretty hilarious that Baz writes down people's predictions from years back for posterity 🤣 carry on.

10 Mar 2024 20:30:34
Corky 😀 in my heyday I was an Adonis 🤣.

10 Mar 2024 20:34:28
Dill 😀 I have people do that for . dossiers of quotes on each poster 😀.

09 Mar 2024 18:45:52
Sorry just a reiteration again of my predictions. 😘
Well here goes, and I may be showing off after scoring 19 points on super 6 this week.
Sheffield W 0 2 Leeds
Cardiff 1 1 Ipswich
Hull 2 2 Leicester
Southampton 2 1 Sunderland
Maybe a little bias in here, but do think we will win tonight.

Wernt far away eh MOT.

09 Mar 2024 19:38:42
The world loves a big head!

09 Mar 2024 19:57:35
I have to say as it seem on here it’s the thing to you got them wrong
Southampton 4 Sunderland 2
Cardiff 2-Ipswich 1
See Baz is not the only one buy is right most of the time 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

09 Mar 2024 22:51:37
Cheers Whitey 🤗.
