could somebody please tell me if paddy kenny has already agreed personal terms? i know he is set for a medical on wednesday

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Paddy Kenny is a Leeds player, announcement will be on OS later today.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just believe it when you see it on the OS and not before. He has NOT already signed despite what anyone says, otherwise it would already be on the OS....

Agree0 Disagree0

He signs today according to YEP...medical already done last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leon who writes in YEP reckons he had medical last week and will be official today, also working on several others. varney, peltier etc

Agree0 Disagree0

Today's Daily Mail would indicate that he has agreed terms.

Just looked at BBC archieves and KB bought Leeds (for the second time) on 11th July 2007. Rumours about an announced takeover anytime after midnight tonight sound plausible....
MOT SherburnWhite

Believable9 Unbelievable10

Once again, this reference to 5 years after coming out of administration is a complete red herring. The "anti-embarassment" clause expired after June 2008 and the only other clause which applied to Bates winning bid in 2007 was £5M due to creditors if LUFC won promotion back to PL before 2017 - these are the facts as per KPMG letter to creditors back in June 2007

CTLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefly fingers crossed ,,,,forest have been taking over buy the kuwaiti family,?

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you have proof of these facts? have you seen these letters to the creditors? i possibly think not.

am willing to change my mind if you can supply proof i.e a link or tell me where i can view them

Roblufc84

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours about an announced takeover are always PLAUSIBLE but until it finally becomes a reality it is just that - a rumour.

I too am hoping, believe me....

Agree0 Disagree0

The 1st reply is absolutely spot on. This alleged rumour has been posted on here on numerous occasions over the last week and I have posted several replies along the lines of the 1 st reply. (ed please could you put the 1st reply verbatim on this site and tell people that there is no 5 year clause) any takeover that occurs on Thursday would be nothing more than coincidence

Agree0 Disagree0

The first reply is spot on. The remaining debts are to be repaid if we reach the Premier League up to 2017. It is in the notes to the accounts. This is a public document and can be easily found on the Internet. There is not a clause that says we need to pay anything back if we are taken over so the date of any takeover is irrelevant.
Ed please can you put the link to the accounts on the site or a statement as requested by another poster repeating these factual comments (they are in the legal, audited financial statements) so that we stop getting these posts.

Agree0 Disagree0

My maths isnt the best but surely having to pay a £5m debt for getting an extra £100m(ish) for reaching the prem makes this whole conversation redundant?

That is still a pretty significant increase in value to the LUFC business

However if anybody wants to take a fiver off me and give me £95 change i'd be more than willing see who is the happier?

Agree0 Disagree0

Roblufc84 you can find the KPMG letter at www.mightyleeds.co.uk/pdf/season200708kpmgletter.pdf

Right i have a question ed and anyone who has an opinion on this. WHO would you have as a striker to partner becchio next year if we had a budget of £1-1.5 million?

I know we'll end up with varney who i think is a very average player and no better than McCormack, but still i think we'll have this amount of money to spend on one from the takeover so i'm interested in WHO people would have?

BURLEYwhite

Believable8 Unbelievable5

A good striker to partner becchio in the price range you have said would be stephen dobbie of swansea a good goalscorer who can pass a ball and get up and down the field aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

1 simon cox....2michael chopra....or 3nicky maynard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steven dobbie is a great player but more of a number ten in my book. should play a bit deeper, i think our best realistic target is dj campbell, proven, quick good eye for goal out and out striker and in my opionin a better version of jermain beckford, and well less than 1.5m so ticks all the boxes for me

Agree0 Disagree0

It's hard to know how much players are worth to their teams. But how much would Simeon Jackson be worth. Not first team at Norwich, pacey striker to play off becchio, not exactly the most composed player but still scores goals

Whiterose1919

Agree0 Disagree0

Baldock! Ano he said he wants to fight for his place but he hasnt got much of a chance has he tbh. Lsmith

Agree0 Disagree0

Cox would be a decent signing i think. i also would like to see Charlie Austin in a Leeds shirt, will score goals if he stays fit and works hard for the team
MOT Ben

Agree0 Disagree0

Simon cox
Lee Barnard ( won't get a look in at Southampton)
le fondre or Simon church from reading, may struggle to get a look in in the prem

I'd also make a 6 month loan move for central midfielder Alejandro faurlin, qpr may want him out on loan after a lengthy injury and warnock knows him well

Agree0 Disagree0

Maynard for £1-1.5m haha dream on. There's only one player, BECKFORD

Agree0 Disagree0

Adam le fondre? Not really in the first team picture at reading, very impressed with him when he put 2 past us

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have to be someone with out and out pace. Thats one thing we lack, nobody fears our attck getting in behind them. Therefore a DJ Campbell / Beckford / Bradley Wright Phillips type ...

DW

Agree0 Disagree0

DJ Campbell would be good for you in that price range, not as good as Beckford but still a very good goalscorer. Unfortunately never worked out for Leicester.

Agree0 Disagree0

Colin wants Craig Mackail-Smith and wants him in before Ross goes to london

Agree0 Disagree0

I was the one who said dj campbell but yeah le fondre and simon jackson could be good calls, think church is a bit too optomistic, i think cox is good but like dobbie i dont think he is an out and out striker and im sorry but beckford...he went missing in our big games and never did anything in the play offs. he missed to many and not gonna cut the grade...i hope he doesnt come back

Agree0 Disagree0

1Carlton cole (WH) 2dj Campbell (QPR)3simon cox (WB) with a take over Kevin Doyle or kenyn jones

Agree0 Disagree0

Wot about Owen on a free and the 1.5 million on a Salary. That's what I would go for given the chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carlton Cole ? Kenwyne Jones? Kevin Doyle? DELUDED

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need to replace Becchio. Perhaps Luciano could stay as a squad player but he looked well short of the required standard last season. So somebody like Kenwyn Jones to replace Becchio supported by Cox or Campbell (not Beckford !). If the 'new owners' have the cash to bankroll the transfersd & wages. If they are genuinely loaded then they should also go for Whittingham from Cardiff & Jordan Rhodes

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford first! Mackail-Smith & Austin are proper strikers, and would be very happy to see either alongside him. Would be brilliant to see Wilfred Zaha in our forward line too. Was keen on Troy Deeney as a target man, but he's been a bad boy...Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree0

Sam Baldock, Simon Cox, Simon Church, Gary Madine

Agree0 Disagree0

Ibrahimovic maybe, could consider messi however might not be good enough for the might of glory leeds united. Hopefully they might sign an out and out goalscorer like aguero or van persie. Wouldn't mind benzema or neymar though. Also we could go for suarez, or demba ba or papis cisse as a back up striker!

Probably cos its old hat and not news anymore?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it just me that is not particularly excited about signing Luke Varney and David Norris? If we are about to bought out by a billionaire then why are we not pursuing better players?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's the one I wasn't too bothered about signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah im not extremely excited at the prospect of varney signing, he's an ok player nothing more. i think warnock needs to aim abit higher if were to challenge this year

been looking at notts forrest rumours and their takeover is also supposed to be announced on the 13th july 2012. is this all coincidence or what??
their supposed buyer al hasawi mentioned nffc, lufc & warnock in the same sentence when he first announce his intentions to buy a championship club. i cannot see both takeovers happening on the same day?? be vary strange if it does!!

Believable7 Unbelievable7

What are you getting at? if i was having a beer with you, id fall asleep!

Agree0 Disagree0

Been announced on the local BBC news that it will be tonight that their takeover is confirmed.

Why are we still waiting, I know all good things come to those that wait, but..... how much longer ??

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope, they've announced the takeover today.

JS LUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Confirmed as complete. News conference 14 July.
Warnock said last week that he had been approached about Forest job but turned it down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like you don't have to worry now. Forest have just confirmed their takeover is complete.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forest takeover has been announced on the Beeb web-site.

Agree0 Disagree0

Start of Ramadam and Muslim celebrations before month of discipline and new beginning. Its no wonder why Muslim owners are tying this in with the official start of pre season training. Its rather symbolic for them so its pretty understandable for them to seek this week as start. Forest and us have middle eastern buyers

Agree0 Disagree0

That fact nw turned job down might be good thing and sign that leeds have got a real take over, that it has not fallen through and that they have money, forest have bigger history, better squad and now have money, nw wants one last promotion hurrar, so leeds must be getting money otherwise i think he would of walked. i know i would if not loyal to leeds as with out a take over and serious money the only way we are getting out of the championship is via the trap door....so could be good signs that we are on our way up

Agree0 Disagree0

Forest takeover has been done just hope are's is soon m,o,t

So the ticket office needs urgent upgrades and will be closed along with all online sales from friday! Surely they must have known it needed doing at the end of last season therefore it would have made more sense to upgrade/refurb before it reopened?!
You wouldn't decide to re surface the pitch a week before kick off now would you.. You do it when the season ends, like we did!

I think there's more to it than they're making out.. Maybe expecting a LOT more business than usual?!

All this talk of an "anti-embarassment" clause appears confusing.

See http://batesipedia.x10.mx/cgi-bin/blosxom.cgi/Publications/Yorkshire%20Post/Administration?_start=61 which states that this clause applied up to the end of June 2008.

It goes on to say that if the club is sold within 10 years of exiting from admin AND the club wins promotion back to the PL, £5M is owed regardless of who the owners are at the time.

Here's hoping for an announcement sooner rather than later.

CTLUFC

Believable6 Unbelievable4

I fail to see how 5 million pounds is the stumbling block some how. Especially when the money generated for getting promoted is 70 + million.

TeejLUFC

Agree0 Disagree0

£5 million is small potatoes if you are promoted to the premiership. It would either be built into the purchase price or written off

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats true although its better to pay £4.75m after the 5 yr deadline day (July 11th) than approx £27m before it, regardless of how wealthy the next owner is....Thats business!

Agree0 Disagree0

At last someone posts the correct facts.
Anti-embarresment clause ran 12 months and the only other clause related to promotion to premier league within 10 years

For the last time there is no significance to 5 years since administration.
Leeds have and always were liable to £5m over a 10 year period i.e. 2017

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats great news, about time, did he say who it is or what time the announcement would be ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, brilliant, that's great news! Was that just before you spotted the Pope heading for the woods with a roll of Andrex?

Agree0 Disagree0

Once again, the fiver year reference is nonsense. The extra payments due in case of promotion to the premiership last for 10 years, not five. Besides, Ken bought LUFC only a year ago, if you believe his hype.

In any instance, should all be good, takeover goes through as hoped and promotion secured, how many of the squad will actually be around for the Premiership, especially as we will have a new manager by then?

So because a takeover is happening promotion is secured? How many takeovers have Pompey had? Give your heads a shake it is going to be nothing like the takeovers at Chelsea or Man City

Paddy Kenny joining today. 500k ?

Believable8 Unbelievable14

If u have agreed a fee for kenny how can u be talking bout a takeover because u can't spend money while the talks are ongoing

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we sold clayton you can only spend money from sale of players whilst takeover is happening so why dont you worry about your own team MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true because while a club is is in due dilligence they can't sell or buy players get your facts right

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact of the matter is that the investment / due dilligence is more than likely all done, and the only remaining act is to actually sign the contract and announce it.

People don't sign multi-million pound contracts and then organise a press conference in 30 mins to announce it to the world.

Official announcments and press conferences take time to organise properly, and if this is to happen in the next few days, chances are all of the due dilligence was completed days ago.

As Leeds are not listed on the stock exchange we have no obligation to announce anything officially, which would leave us completely in a position to spend any money the owners (whomever that is) like. {Ed001's Note - actually a press conference is either arranged the day before or even in the morning if it is an afternoon/evening one. Official announcements can be done within minutes.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Well how have we sold Clayton then. Keep up sunshine.

Agree0 Disagree0

To 3rd reply, if you can't buy or sell players during due diligence how did we manage to pull off the sale of Clayton?

Agree0 Disagree0

You can actually do what you want during due diligence. Prevention of buying and selling players during due diligence would actually be illegal. The exclusivity period does not impinge on doing business, simply you can't start talking to other parties interested in buying the club during that time.

Agree0 Disagree0

So was the Clayton transfer to Huddersfield something we all dreamt?

Agree0 Disagree0

Can someone explain to me how we sold Clayton to Huddersfield then please if no purchases or sales are permitted during due dilligence? Thanks JamesC

A colleague of mine is a community coach at ER. All staff have been told not to park in the West Stand car park tomorrow. I know Paddy Kenny has signed and possibly a press conference for this, but clearing all the car park indicates a bigger event / announcement possibly?

Believable13 Unbelievable9

Or it could be to do with the delivery of equiment and materials for the refurb of the ticket office

Agree0 Disagree0

Goalkeeper Paddy Kenny looks set to join Leeds United as the Whites continue to build for the new season. The current QPR shotstopper, who has been heavily linked with Leeds, tweeted today (July 10): “Change of plan now not starting pre-season tomorrow but something else is happening at 1pm, oh I wonder what.”

Kenny joined Rangers after leaving Sheffield United in 2010, where he had been custodian for eight years.

The 34-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road after QPR signed Robert Green.

Paddy Kenny just tweeted "pre season not starting tomorrow now because something else happening at 1pm,i wonder what"

Believable10 Unbelievable4

We have signed a 34-year-old keeper on a 3 year contract. What a joke! There were plenty of good younger keepers released by Prem clubs on free transfers Brad Guzan at Villa, Tomasz Kuszczak at Man U Craig Gordon Sunderland Chris Kirkland WBA to name but a few. Surely anyone of those wound have made more sense {Ed045's Note - No pleasing some people, Brad Guzan, unproven vs top prem keepers, Tomasz Kuszcazk hardly featured, Craig Gordan proven in SPL only hardly any prem EXP, Chris Kirkland calamaty?.. Paddy proven constant player in the prem for a season, figured massively in promotion campaign for QPR and is trusted by a manager that has the joint most promotions in English football under his belt, keep the faith, or spread your gloom and doom elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said ed045. Keep the faith, quality shot stopper, kept QPR in the PL last season, good pals with warnock and actually seems to be exited to come to the once glorious ell elland road. At least he wants to be here.

Good signing. Futures bright! MOT!!

- forever leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Unlike many other positions, keepers tend to see their best years towards the end of their careers. Look at Martyn vs Robinson for an example of where experience counts when leading from the back.

Van der Saar, James, Seamen, Jaaskelinen, even Sullivan all did well in their latter years. Younger keepers are prone to silly mistakes and often have misplaced confidence.

Personally, I think it's a great signing. He'll command his defence and his experience will be invaluable to the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Ed ... there's no pleasing some folk.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldnt agree more Ed, and as i remember rightly we inquired about Kuszcazk last season and he was up for a loan move but fergie wouldnt let him come to leeds. Kenny is only 34, bags of experience, and 34 isnt old for a keeper, pat jennings was still playing at 42.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish people would stop banging on about his age, Edwin van der Sar played for Man utd until he was 40, Brad Friedel still doing a job at 41, 34 is relatively young for a goal keeper!

If you're going to follow his twitter comment atleast get the day right.. said today at 1pm something is happening

Agree0 Disagree0

It didn't say today.
"Change of plan now not starting pre season now tomorrow but something else is happening at 1pm, oh I wonder what #cananyoneguess #

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't say today. U can read it two ways. It makes more sense that something big will be happening tomorrow at 1pm instead of starting pre season training. Why would he not be starting pre season training tomorrow if something happened today. He might mean today but it makes more sense that he means tomorrow

regarding the takeover at leeds united i found out that ken bates bought the club back 5 years ago on july the 11th i belive and had an agreement with the creditors that if leeds wernt in the premiership or he dident own the club after theese 5 years he dident have to paay back all the money he did owe them so the takeover could be done on the 12th so the incoming investors could save some money. hopefully to be used on transfers MOT

Believable9 Unbelievable6

On that case they can takeover on July 11th then, as the last day of Kens 5 years willbe today (10th)

Heard this rumour sometime ago and to be honest it does sound quite feasible, whether someone has plucked the 5 year thing out of the air or it is some legal expert that can see this remains to be seen, hopefully it is true and we can start the march together again.

Cribbed from a comment left by a nomark in the yorkshire Post. Hardly a reliable source!

This is a load of rubbish, read the swiss ramble report to see anything to with with our finances its all there. I think, but don't quote me on it, its 2019 before we don't have to pay anything back

When will people actually check the facts before passing on rumours.
Must have posted this about half a dozen times on here - there is no 5 year clause.
The creditors are due £5m (now £4.75m) if Leeds United are promoted within 10 years of the date of exit from administration i.e. 2017.
It is nothing more than coincidence that an announcement is made on the 12th.
It has more to do with the current court case.
