Dundee Utd have received an 850k bid for Gary Mackay-Steven from an unnamed championship club. The team is believed to be Leeds.

Right let's get one thing straight, Dundee United have not received any bids for Mackay Steven. There is a few forums with this made up rumour, probably by the same person. If the person who posted this rumour can post a link to any evidence of this rumour by tomorrow morning 12/7/13, then he/she may have something, but it is more likely he/she wants this player to come to the club, but it isn't happening.

He's away with Dundee Utd in Germany at the moment, so nothing will happen till he and BMD and Leeds return home.
Cracking signing if it happens.

No tv station in Scotland has mentioned Leeds United in any of their football reports, so once again a complete made up story.

Never mind the infighting guys -no one cares who's right. What's exciting is that we are now being linked with sought-after, upcoming talent, and with the Murphy signing a statement of intent, I'm fairly buoyant about our prospects of adding some more quality before we kick off -and if it's this particular lad, and if he's as good as some people reckon, then great! Job's a good 'un. Keep it up Brian. Chapel A.

Worth a punt, in my opinion. Taken on loan, we could always send him back if it doesn't work.

If McDermott gets his own way then expect to see Dino Ndlovu wearing the no. 9 shirt for LUFC next season.
McDermott would like Ndlovu to be ready to join up with the squad as soon as they return from Slovenia.

Lol if you didn't know of luke murphy then obviously you didn't watch league 1 football as iv always knew about him as I follow most teams

Why would I follow league 1 football when were in the championship? We were the best side in league 1 when we were there, so I hardly felt the need to watch Crewe.
Agree2

Its better watch league 1 football and look at possible players we can sign than watch other crap which is on the tele at times
Agree1

Totally agree, but watching them as a one off and following them are two completely different things.
How many times were Crewe on TV anyway? My guess would be once? So you must have gone to a few games then?

A league one striker. Why are some Leeds fans obsessed with Beckford? Selfish, greedy, sulky and needs 10 chances before he scores.

Why are you talking about someone who can't rally hack it in this league. Ex player, has been, only good enough for league 1!!

Becks, all about the price. If we pick him up for like 500-600k then worth it. If more, then someone else can have him. Player I'd love back is Max.
Agree7

Imo we don't need another striker we've got 4 that's enough, that's why brian let steve morison go plus he didn't even want to be here by sounds bad attitude and only reason he came is because he was on more a week than at norwich and warnock guaranteed him 1st team football
Agree1

I have never understood why so many "fans" are so against Beckford coming back. When he was here he was loved as he scored lots of goods. Why don't you want that again

The same beckford that joined Bolton? {Ed013's Note - Not yet he hasn't mate}

Too lazy for BMc.
Agree0

What utter drivel, we have far better players in attack now, so Beckford should concentrate on playing in League One, where he is at his level.
Agree0
Disagree4
He's in limbo land
Fee is free but he wants paying loyalty bonus from foxes but they refuse as he's got a free transfer. He can't stay at Leicester as his next game triggers a fee to Everton
For those who don't understand why Some fans are against him, this explanation may help- still all about the cash!
Me personally would have him back but on our terms
Agree0
Disagree2
Im beginning to believe this is true. let's look at the facts. It is known Beckford has Leeds in his heart and soul, BMcD saying things like, the club and we 'need' to get this done, there's another club involved, he's been working on it for some time, well the other club involved could be Bolton his proposed transfer from Leicester to them just ain't happening is it, why? Is it because BmCd has been, working on him for some time. Yes, the more I think about it the more this could be the signing Brian is talking about.
Agree2
Disagree1
This is getting boring. if only some other club would sign him to silence the Beckford to Leeds brigade. He had an oversized ego when he was here last time and if he was bought back it would be difficult for him to pass through the tunnel to reach the pitch. that ego would get in the way. We have a squad showing signs of togetherness. pleas BMcD, don't disrupt it.

I can't realistically see Beckford coming back, but all these doubting his ability. He scored 9 top flight goals for Everton and I believe that made him their top scorer, he also played up top on his own. At Leicester they can played him out wide, or benched him. He looked ok at Duddersfield but for injuries. I used to work at Elland Road, before I dis I thought Beckford to be very egotistical, but I soon changed my mind after seein vhim around he was very grounded and pleasant. I don't think we need him, and maybe his spark isn't quite there, but perhaps he is a one club guy and can only perform in a mighty white shirt. Wherever he ends up I for one wish him well

We do need a greasy selfish striker, just not that one
Agree0

Not good enough for us only any good in league one
Agree0

We definitely need another striker tho. We have two un tested, one inconsistent who prefers playing the second striker role and the other is a 30 year old freebie who's only managed 39 goals in 5 years! Need Le Fondre, Austin or Hosiner from Austria

Despite his faults, i'd happily have him back, showed at the end of last season he could do a job in this league, his goals kept huddersfield up, get the feeling he, s not that fussed on going to bolton, and would be happy if given the chance to come back to us.

If McDermott has any sense, he should jump for Beckford who will easily outscore any of our existing forwards. Would be absolutely delighted to have him back.

Don't believe your source is as you say. Nigel Gibbs would not be that disloyal to BMcD to release that kind of information, even to someone "he knows". However, Cyrus Christie would be a good acquisition so a fingers crossed might just be in order.

Brian Mac has said "It's a very important player I want to bring to the club, it will all make sense when it happens" which basically opens the door up for any one of a number of people but heres some food for thought, how about Adel Taraabt?
Before I get jumped on, I don't mean signing him on a permanent deal, as clearly we can't afford him, but Tony Fernandes has told Taraabt's agent to find him another club, so how about a suprise loan move, maybe us funding part of his wages?
He hasn't exactly covered himself in glory the way he has acted at QPR, but sometimes a player will do what he can to get a move, in this instance turning up late for training, that said I'd be happy to take on his talent as I am more than happy that B Mac can sort the lads attitude out.
This may sound like wishful thinking (and it probably is) but it has got to be worth a shot, right?

I usually talk about who I would like to see at the club however yesterday I feel I managed to get some real information from ex colleagues, friends and an old client.
This information is probably best taken with a pinch of salt a bit like most on here, but here goes, my former client, now a semi-pro footballer in Scotland believes Mackay-Steven has agreed a contract with 2 clubs, one believed to be Leeds the other unknown, however all that is left to agree is a fee between the clubs involved.
My former colleagues, based in London (but connected with Reading FC) have told me no bids have been submitted for any of their players from Leeds, not sure if there will be any in the future but nothing as of yet despite repeated rumours.
As for my friends (Brighton fans), well they know how much I wanted us to sign Matt Upson so all I got from them was a load of stick, and yes I still feel we missed out not signing him, whether we were interested or not, but I am sure B Mac has got plans of his own so I am happy to go along with them.
MOT SussexLeeds
Believable30

BMcD did hint that they'd agreed a contract but needed to agree a fee because he said the player we're going after there's a club involved so we need to deal with them.
Agree3

Tommy Rowe is the player we have a deal in place for. We can't agree a fee that's the hold up. Peterborough are hard to deal with chairman has money, And they just sold Gayle for 6 million
Agree0
Disagree1
Load of garbage post offering a contract before a fee is agreed is an illeagle approach hence breaking the law unless the player is under 21 and is at the end of his contract even then a fee isn't needed the player can still join leeds with the fee decided by tribunal
Agree0
Disagree1
Sounds like sense to me. Upson has signed for Brighton so he won't be coming!
Agree0
Disagree0
To reply 3, OP here, from what I gather the player was given permission to speak to both clubs by his own club so that is not an ILLEGAL approach, as I said it is all to be taken with a pinch of salt anyway, but thanks for the input.

It's quite common for terms to be agreed with a player before a fee is agreed, as long as permission has been given to talk to clubs. Happens all the time.
