Peter lorimer

Tony Yeboah

Agree2 Disagree1

Marry school or rhymes with. Won't say his real name for fear of bursting into flames

Agree0 Disagree2

Mark Viduka isn't on there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nor is Nigel Martyn.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Unfortunately They didn't make the final cut from everyone's votes}

I would've said Alan smith

Agree1 Disagree6

Everyone on that list is a club legend. Well done on the list great selection EDs. I chose the player who inspired me in most in my style of play as a footballer from my era and that is David batty (aka Mini-Bremner)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - Thanks mate}

Growing up my favourite was always Peter Lorimmer and despite his recent slagging off I can't change my all time favourite player

Agree0 Disagree0

I was always Gary Speed when I was in the garden as a kid.
Speedo and mcallister then a little later I wouldalways give it the yeboah finger when I celebrated a goal, infact that is the name of. My fantasy football team YEBOAHS FINGER.

Where is the polls page? Is it available on mobiles?

{Ed013's Note - Can you put this in your browser - http://www.leedsrumours.co.uk/leeds-editor-blog.php

Spot on Ed, nice one.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - No worries mate}

Ed u should take it down before it becomes a farce beckford b mccormack gt more votes than speed bowyer mccalister and strachan wtf

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - How can it be a farce if fans have only witnessed the Beckford/McCormack era and class them as their idols or the greatest player of their era? Some fans have never seen the likes of Speed and Bowyer play and don't class them as their era}

I was born in 1990 so fans 25 and below will have not ever seen the majority of that list. I woulda gone for Kewell or Martin, instead I went Beckford.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed013's Note - That's my point mate. Nigel Martyn didn't get enough votes to make the cut unfortunately}

According to reports from the Daily Mail, the Leeds manager Brian McDermott is ready to compete with Sheffield Wednesday to get the loan signing of Sunderlands Connor Wickham, striker scorer of 8 goals in 11 appearances. MOT

Believable75 Unbelievable40

All the good strikers we want we never get, just like in the summer they were so many such as Le Fondre and Doyle but they never seem to come off instead we just buy Hunt. McDermott is clueless!

Agree7 Disagree3

Mcdermott is clueless? have you not just witnessed the unveiling of the absolute shambles of ownership he has been working under? you really think he wouldn't have got a better striker had he be allowed. get a grip

Agree7 Disagree2

Quite right. first reply demonstrates a total lack of understanding. You're obviously welcome to your opinion but it contributes nothing. BM needs stability, time and resources and he has had none of these to date. For the long term good of our club, we all need to get behind BM and the team and continue to show this to Cellino.

Agree4 Disagree3

Mac is a lovely man, but the hunt transfer as a main striker was a poor effort, not the man to take us up, I believe tony mowbray would be a perfect fit very similar to don revie.

Agree4 Disagree9

He tried for Barnes

Agree1 Disagree0

I think the singer Chris Rea could have a go at managing Leeds as the only similarity between Mowbray and Revie is their both from smog land .

Agree0 Disagree0

Add Kebe, Murphy and Stewart to that list.

BM is hopeless tactically too

Agree2 Disagree2

I'll believe that when I see it

Agree1 Disagree1

Wickham would be great -we need Cellino to complete first. And yes, it's about time Brian made a decent signing. Blackstock was his best call to date -and sadly he was injured! Chapel A

Agree3 Disagree0

Le Fondre was never going to leave Reading and Doyle is poor and on high wages

Agree2 Disagree0

Got to agree with the 1st comment there, McDermott has been a failure in the transfer market!

Agree1 Disagree1

Wensday gt leon best dnt think they want wickham too

Agree1 Disagree0

McDermott has not been a failure in the transfer market, gfh have for failing to back him enough.

Agree1 Disagree1

The chap has had no money to spend give him a chance

Agree1 Disagree1

He took Reading up without spending loads and most of the squad he had were frees or academy players or loaners . Very similar to the situation at Leeds but this time he can't motivate the squad to go on a long unbeaten run . In fact he managed the opposite, to get us on a long run without winning!

Agree0 Disagree1

While I agree he took reading up without spending a great deal on players, they sadly did not survive the premiership. The championship league has become very competitive, so you have to bring in some quality players too so we are ready for promotion to the prem and hopefully stay there, and most quality players cost money.

Agree1 Disagree0

Daily Mail also highlighting the cash flow problems at Leeds. Unable to pay the existing players and looking to add another high earner? Doesn't make sense.

Agree1 Disagree0

Massimo will own Leeds by march and he will bring new players in but maybe not who BM wants but BMs signings are not good enough anyway. So he is shady but so are all our business men. Look at politicians bankers councillors everyone down to the taxi driver who picks you up to go to work. Massimo will be good for Leeds and will be in it for the long haul, and he will not settle for championship football, and no he is not a lifelong Leeds fan but did Abromovitch check chelseas results every week before he bought them no its business so come on Massimo and bring your fancy italian players with you at least it will be entertaining.
bige

Believable66 Unbelievable17

Definitely agree with you when you say BMCD has not made any good signings. Who has he signed that has actually done anything? Let Cellino do the transfer business. Also get Roberto Di Matteo in as manager.

Agree6 Disagree6

What's a matter with you lot? you can't let the owner sign the players, you need a manager who manages the club. in Brian we trust. MOT

Agree7 Disagree4

Actually we have had Managers who signed the players for years, have you seen the Dross that's played for Lufc for the last 20 years? with a few exceptions we all agree on!

Agree4 Disagree3

Bmd an person.he walked away from us other fri.why didn't he ring haigh to ask if sacked instead of running to radio.sick of his excuses.and according to varney he.s a liar too

MR T

Agree2 Disagree4

Maybe his signings would've been better if he had some decent cash to spend and not scrimping and scraping to get the dross he did sign.

Agree2 Disagree5

Please NO to di matteo he is no manager.
Taking a bunch of mercenaries like the Chelsea squad is far away from the reality of actually managing a club, that loy git AVB the sack as they didn't like working hard just like the spurs squad. I want brian to stay as results where good up until the board decided to throw the club into mid season turmoil.
So not his fault,
Snoopy MOT

Agree3 Disagree2

He/She has a point signings have been poor
Matt Smith - ok
Noël Hunt - poor
Luke Murphy - Average so far
Scott Wooton - not playing
Marius Zaliukas - not playing
Jimmy Kebe - average
Cameron Stewart - ok

Agree4 Disagree2

You have to ask yourself; what could Brian do with a good sum of money with signings.
Yes Murphy has made a slow start but he's starting to come around. Do you think Matt Smith was Brian's first choice? And Hunt? I know they are mates but Brian would have said 'he can be a team player and won't break the bank'. Brian has had to scrimp and take what he can get in the transfer market. As soon as we have money, however shady it may be, players will then look at Leeds more favourably. Money talks.

Agree2 Disagree0

Im sorry most fans were excited about most of those signings, Luke Murphy, "Oh my god league player of the year, get him signed" "jimmy kebe got pace to burn get him signed" "Scott Wooton, good young player get him signed" "Zaliukas solid no nonsense CB get him signed" and now you all slate them.

Agree4 Disagree2

Scrimp and save to sign a £1m player in Murphy and allegedly a similar fee for Wootton!
Neither have been convincing and justified their purchase which pretty much sums up the team as a whole.
I respect McD as a person but increasingly despondent with how our team are playing and the sheer lack of quality.
I believe we need a change. A tactician who can get the best out of players, astute in the transfer market and have us playing with verve, pace and genuine quality to frighten teams. No one fears us at the moment. Let us give the fans something to cheer and get excited about rather than a forlorn hope that making a big noise will inspire this bunch of mis-directed wasters.

Agree1 Disagree1

Brian McDermott has had not a lot of funding, so how can we expect decent players, we are not the bottom of the league and still in with a mathematical chance of the playoffs, so let's get behind him he has done the best he can do under the present conditions .

Agree3 Disagree1

People were only excited about the fact that fresh faces were being brought in, in the hope that that would bring about an improvement. No one I know was actually suggesting that these were players that should be brought in -and I don't recall anyone being excited when these names were revealed. Brian has been allowed to bring in as many signings as Warnock, and so far his signings have been even worse. He could perhaps use some help with recruitment / scouting -so Cellino and Festa's contacts and enthusiasm may even be just what he needs! Chapel A

Agree0 Disagree2

Am I blue yet?.

Agree1 Disagree0

I was the first response to this post who said that his signings have been poor. I have read the above comments and people have said he has not had a lot of funding when he spent £2 million on two average players in wootton and murphy. We could have got much better players for those transfer fees. Just shows BMCD doesn't have a clue on transfers.

Agree1 Disagree1

If he brings in Quality players great its the only way forward MOT

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks for all the responses, interesting to read. You do not need big money to make quality signings you need contacts and friends in the game willing to help. Brian may be a nice guy but if you look at some of the players brought in on loan from the premiership teams by championship clubs why are we going to lower leagues for players. I know finances were tight but you get rid of the deadwood, better 18 decent players willing to play 90 minutes than 30 journeymen with no real ambition. Tactics are not great because the players are not that good. How can you change a system if players do not understand it. We lack ideas and an engine in midfield. I have supported Leeds since the Revie years and if you don't have a midfield you don't have a team

Agree1 Disagree0

Give the guy a chance, he ain't been here very long I' m sure lots of other top managers have brought in the wrong players at times before they got it right, plus we don't know that brian McDermott has had to make do with alternative players, because his hands are tied!

Agree1 Disagree0

To first responder who are these better players for the same cash and what would the wages be?

Agree1 Disagree0

It's alright saying his signings are bad, but think out wages, they would cripple our club even more

Agree1 Disagree1

Kebe is starting to shape up, not sure about Cameron stewart yet?

Agree1 Disagree0

Personally I think it will be good with a broader scouting system from Europe and South Amercia
One only needs to look at Ibarbo to see what talent can be picked up abroad and that is what Cellino will bring

Agree1 Disagree0

So agree with the poster who said you don't need big money to get quality. How much did Gary Mac pay for Snoddy and Becchio? £20k in total! Grayson picked up Max for next to nothing. It's about having an eye for a player. Even hapless old Kevin Blackwell did better when he had money to spend: at least when he had a couple of million to spend he brought in Hulse & Cresswell (and Healy & Blake for less) -all players who, on their day could change a game. Brian definitely needs to up his game if he does not want to end up as the manager with the worst transfer dealings here since Terry Venables! Chapel A

Agree1 Disagree1

He needs a scouting system first rather than broadening it out! What club doesn't have a scouting network and who do u think is having to set all that up! Most moaned like mad because Massimo had sacked so many managers now your wanting him to do the same as soon as he walks in the door! Get a grip give Brian a chance to sign some quality give the scouting network time to bring results or we will be in the same position as before

Agree1 Disagree0

Luke Murphy and Scott Wooton cost 2m and he scouted them personally!
Ibarbo cost €2m
To say he doesn't need to broaden his scouting network is an understatement
New owners will stop us looking in the pool of overpriced dross this country offers

Agree0 Disagree0

So the guy is doing scouting and managing the side if your right and u expect him to be on his game with every decision? Let's cut him some slack, I agree some signings have been poor (hunt) some need time as there still young (Murphy) I know we all won't instant success and so will Massimo but some things that are getting built from the ground up need time to flourish and if we keep changing things then we go back to the start everytime. I also agree Brian needs to up his game a bit but if what u say is true and he's scouting players as well as all the rest of his jobs along with this takeover and wages maybe not getting paid it all adds up to bloody hard work for even top top managers. Regardless where we finish this season I think he deserves the summer and till nov to prove what he can really do once things settle down. Look at Leicester they could have very easily sacked Pearson last season but didn't and now look, that's come from continuity 100%

Agree2 Disagree0

I completely agree BM needs time, money and patience
But my point was that an entire new market of player will open up should MC complete his TO
I can only see that as a good thing should BM be given it as a tool and not simply informed a foreign player has arrived again
MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

How on earth.can the FA not approve
Mr.Cellino when they obviously
approved BATES?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes had a couple bad signings yeah but I think matt smiths a decent young player perfect for ross to partner with and mcdermotts getting the best out of ross through great man management skills i'd just like him to get a chance I suppose fes up with sacking managers all the time need stability

Agree0 Disagree0

It can take time for new, young players to reach their potential, and that can't be easy with all the crap going on. And it's easy to look back and say we bought so an so for threppence and he was great, but that misses out all the cheap players bought that didn't work out. We shouldn't expect to be in the play offs this season. Survival and development should have been the aim. The thing I'm bothered about is how Leeds still resort to hoofball at times. That stops the good players playing their game, and stops a good style of football developing. Leeds are not a good club for young players with potential to be in at the moment, and fans should get off their back.

Agree0 Disagree0

We've been surviving and developing since we got relegated from PL
It's about time our club got a bit of ambition after all we are Leeds United
Players like RM won't want to wait while Matt Smith gets a little better and the young ones get a little older
With PL interest RM will leave to play top flight football
Cellino will bring that ambition and demand for success we have been wanting for 10 years

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2014 11:22:20
yes most af bmds signings were not great but they were probably the best available at the time for the money he had to spend . murphy and wooton might of cost 1 mil each but there wage would of been quite small as they are young .
bmd just didn't have the funds to get who he wanted and he would probably get rid of the dead wood if he did have some money

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Feb 2014 11:34:29
We haven't been developing at all. We've been treading water in this league, whilst selling our best players. At least that has stopped. Developing properly is the highest ambition.

Agree1 Disagree0

Simply put we need to get the club sorted, Massimo has the money and the will to move us forward. Brian should not be scouting for players, but he should have last say on wether they join the club or not. Yes give him a chance but let's be realistic if the players he chooses don't perform for him then maybe they are the wrong ones or he is wrong. What age will Murphy, Smith be when they have had a chance to prove themselves, too old to sell on. If a player has talent it shows at any age and at their age they should be working their socks off not disappearing half way through a game. We network to look at players all over the world and source young talent Massimo will bring us that, can Brian handle class players, remains to be seen bige

Agree0 Disagree0

Sick of hearing about how much money he will spend next season no he won't be spending loads next season as ffp rules says he can't if he ignores rules and spends massive if we fail to get promoted eect big fine transfer ban and points deduction who will pay the fine not massing that's for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

If owners want to take some advice and buy in players for the team manager to pick a team from and coach I don't see a problem. Director of football been doing this already in many clubs. If dross then the owner simply takes the hit. I wouldn't however like the owner to force inclusions into the playin team from those purchased

Agree0 Disagree0

Think in time Murphy and Wooton will prove good signings . Murphy at least gets stuck in even when other parts of his game are below par. Crystal palace were eyeing up Smith so he must be have caught some attention and I think with good service into the box he will score his share and be a handful.
We have some decent young players but we need 2 or 3 quality signings, one being a leader to guide them, and hopefully Cellinio can provide this . Afew decent Italian players wouldn"t go amiss either.
Would like Paul Robinson back as keeper . He still has deep affection for the club, is better than Kenny and would make the perfect captain

Massimo arrived at ER with his people and spent the first day learning about how the club works.
We are on the way back.

Please keep the humour coming my way.

The Italian initially anticipated that his 75 per cent buy-out would be ratified there and then but the three-hour hearing – held at his request – was used to instruct him about the documents and information the League requires to make its decision.
