Heard today that bates will move on from leeds if we
are not promoted this or next season ,Will leave
football for good and sit back and enjoy retirement
This came from a good buisness source who is well
in the know,,and knows the man himself

Believable10 Unbelievable48

Could be true man not getting any younger
80 plus .Leeds and other clubs of same size
difficult to run as expectations are so high
amongst fans and fans do become impatient

Might go against many fans views but ,on balance, I think Ken Bates has done a lot more good at Leeds than bad. He has intervened when necessary eg When Gary Mac was struggling and brought in a good manager with a Leeds pedigree. He has kept a steady financial ship and made a profit for himself (so what?). We won promotion from league 1 and we are more than holding our own in the championship. We could have done a lot worse - you only have to look around some of the other clubs. When he eventually goes we will see what in store. It's not bound to be better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wishful thinking. Bates is already in semi retirement, he owns the club but doesn't run it. he's in it til he drops.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's your source? it does'nt happen to be a ken bates lookalike in a red suit cos he's doing his rounds at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will it be retirement or selling? If he retires then he will still own but someone else will operate ie same constraints etc if he sells up then new ownership etc could be good or bad depending on the buyer.

Agree0 Disagree0

He wunt have spent 7 mil on doing up elland road if he wa gunna do 1

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above ^ Actually he would... Seen as he owns it. makes a lot of sense he pays rent which can be claimed back by Leeds united off tax in expenses, but also pockets the rent and puts it back into the system thus making Leeds a saving, Him a profit, and the tax man diddled (he has motive as he hates the tax man and is a cunning businessman that I will praise him for) ...obviously he can't have it in his own name. Also why would any business spend its funds building on land it currently rents (it wouldn't) and why would a landlord let you (he wouldn't), it doesn't make any sense. Also bates got a loan if you read previous articles to build it, he said 'that loan companies will give you money against property, but not against players, wages etc.' (can't remember exact words) So if he borrowed against property then the only property Leeds can have is either Elland Road or Thorp Arch (which he also owns for similar schemes)

To the above ^ taken on board your comment and by what u wrote ken bates is putting alot of work and thought into leeds. why would he do all that if he wa just gun get up n walk away?i think he will sell evenually just not yet.he even said himself he building a leeds united for the future why do that if ur planning on going?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because if he sells the two properties he can make more on the stadium with extra facilities than before and plus the debt for building them will be the clubs - so its a win win situation for Bates

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds utd are debt free, and operating on a profit. They are gergraphically in the biggest county in the whole of the British isles, one city club and the third biggest city in country city not greater manc land. So we are flying and it shows going out spending loads doesnt mean we will get promotion. But what a brilliant senario to be in. The last time he sold up look who bought his club and where they are!

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh i wish this was true. rather not get promoted and get rid of him

Leeds United lead a trio of Championship clubs interested in signing highly rated Stevenage winger Lawrie Wilson reports skysports.com.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from a host of clubs after turning in a number of impressive performances at Broadhall Way in recent months, and the midfielder has been instrumental in the club's rise from the Conference to League One over the past few seasons.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson is looking to strengthen his Whites squad when the transfer window reopens in January, and is considering an offer to bring the midfielder to Elland Road in the New Year.

However, Leeds are likely to face competition from the likes of Cardiff City and Watford - who have also been credited with an interest in Wilson.

With 18 months still to run on his current contract, Stevenage would likely find it hard to reject a sizeable offer for the player if Leeds, or any other of Wilson's suitors firm up their interest.

The former Charlton trainee joined The Boro in 2007, and under the stewardship of Graham Westley has developed into a key player for the club.

A sizeable offer well that rules leeds out in fact any payment rules us out

Ive heard from multiple reliable sources that leeds are weighing up a move for titus bramble in january, as he is currently out of the first team picture at sunderland. would this be a good signing?

Agree0 Disagree0

Titus Bramble! You're having a laff! Would rather play A O'Brien on his own or re-sign Naylor- He is AWFUL

Leeds United are reportedly monitoring Preston goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckhmann.

The imposing German shot-stopper has made six appearances for the Whites since moving to Deepdale during the transfer window, and has conceded for goals.

Stuckhmann had a trial with Leeds over the summer, but was unable to earn a contract at Elland Road, having left 2.Bundesliga outfit Alemannia Aachen
