hi iv been told the following via a former leeds legend smith bowyer woodgate virtually done deals, given 1 year loan, also kevin phillips and upson arriving .......what you think ed? if its true possibly more outgoings? {Ed015's Note - hopefully no more outgoings, De vries, Given and upson would be fun signings}

Ed, do you see us signing Smith and Frings? Or is it a case of one or the other? I'd imagine wages might be an issue with securing both of them. I hear the Smith deal is further down the line than most of the Leeds fans realise? {Ed015's Note - smith is more than likely if we can agree wages, Frings im unsure about, ild like to see both join}

Paynter swap for Montgomery deal will happen!
Grayson will ask man city for given on loan, but we will not pay all of his wages so doubtful!
rachubka will come in! Kirkland will also be offered a contract if man city dont except a loan deal for given!

With Grayson in charge its going to be a very long time indeed before Leeds get to the promised land of the premiership, in fact it will be that long it will probably be called something else - he simply has to go, we need to get someone in who actually knows how to manage a team !

Are you actually for real?? Look at graysons record at leeds.... 2 full seasons. 1 promotion and a 7th place in our first season in championship. So wat if we sell kasper... Scum sold ronaldo and still win the league... IN GRAYSON WE TRUST !!!

=======================

You're right, scum did gamble with Ronaldo and it paid off... But we're swapping our first choice goalkeeper who loved playing for Leeds; despite his father playing for our rivals, for a 30 year old goalkeeper who conceded 9 goals in 3 games. "IN GRAYSON WE TRUST !!!" ?? Then you need to go to a mental institution my friend. Would be surprised if we finish top half this season.

How come Sutcliffe from the Yorkshire Post says we are "quite far down the line" with Alan Smith, in a talksport interview? What would be the point in talking to Alan if this Frings guy is coming? {Ed015's Note - Both are possible}

Nice to see Bates spending money on players and not on a stand we don't need, oh sorry kind of got that wrong. Do you think he got it wrong too?
Time he needs to go or put his hand in his pocket, for players this time, not a stand we can't fill.

For clarity Ed, Ken Bates did not save Leeds United. When he bought Leeds on 21 January 2005 we had debts of £25million. When we went in to Administration at 3.15pm on Friday 4th May 2007 these debts had risen to £35million. By the time of the creditors meeting KPMG restated these debts at £46million, include £12 million that had been borrowed and spent in the previous three months....

Considering that during this time he actually got us relegated to League One, this kind of financial mis-management would have made Peter Ridsdale blush {Ed015's Note - and under Ridsale we was almost bust, then handed around a few diffrent people before bates brought security to the club. bates did what he had to do, fans may hate him but hes a buisness man and knows what hes doing, get off his back and support him for a change, lets see who wants him out at the end of the season if we gain promotion! }

Believable13 Unbelievable4

BURNLEY goalkeeper Lee Grant is expected to be on Leeds United s wanted list if Kasper Schmeichel s sale to Leicester City goes through.

Grant joined the Clarets last summer, but after losing his place to Brian Jensen, is keen to re-establish himself as a number one.

The Elland Road club have surprisingly agreed to sell the 24-year-old to their Championship rivals.

Grant only joined the Clarets last summer, but after losing his place to Brian Jensen, he is keen to re-establish himself as a number one.

Ed, is this keeper any good? don't know much about him, any chance of getting him do you think?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

he's okay he was the wednesday keeper when they went down don't think he is anything on Kasper and in terms of Shay Given well if SG says he had someone lined up before selling Kasper it may well be him because I can see man city paying the majority of his wages like last year with bellamy

we need to start building a team for promotion we have now lost kasper (why would he want to stay even if this deal falls through after what grayson said about him) we have lost bradley johnson and killa and we have a defence who couldnt stop the local blind team from scoring and i hope for graysons sake that paynter starts to find the back of the net soon unless he is planning on keeping him for when we go down if our team isnt strengthened i am not wanting to appear like i am jumping on the band wagon by giving them grief we have alot to be greatful for when it comes to bates love him or loath him he saved the club and grayson wants the best for leeds so i do still hold out hope from them both but lets hope something happens soon we need to have a mix of youth and experience not just experience

Ken Bates and Simon Grayson having a pre-season meeting........

KB - Right Simon how are we going to improve on last year's position? Where do we need to strengthen?

SG - Well Papa Smurf we had the best scoring record in the Championship, as we have an abundance of strikers, some better than others, but we conceded a lot of goals.

KB - How come Simon?

SG - Our defence was rubbish boss, however Kasper did pull us out of the proverbial several times.

KB - Mmm, well that's simple then! We keep Billy Paynter and sell Kasper! {Ed015's Note - that was exactly how it went}

SGs on Leeds website saying they were getting rid of Kasper choose what, obviously bames him for the number of goals we conceded, is he doing the same with the back four?This smacks more of cashing in on Kasper than sorting the defence out, lost faith in SG, one look at most of his loan signings and its apparent he dont know what hes doing, expect both Snoddy AND Gradel to be sold on before long, then a battle to stay up, should have gone with Gus.

ive never ever slagged off simon grayson. but this transfer window i have kept patient. Weve signed Monty Gimple. or was it Monty Python? I was pleased when he rejected the norwich bid for snodgrass, but all i kept thinking was if we can keep Schmeichel, Howson, Snodgrass, Gradel, Becchio and get rid of all the rest and build round them even with free transfers, the likes of Smith, Gabbidon, Westwood, you know there are some really good quality players out there, Bowyer and Frings played over 40 games and scored important goals for there clubs last season, we should be looking to bring these in now and get rid of the dead wood and i thought we were gonna be ok. But the whole Kasper Schmeichel saga has ended my trust in Grayson now. I hope he proves me wrong, My word tho the only one that could replace a goalkeeper with the passion of schmeichel would be Paul robinson for me, but we aint got a cat in hells chance with the tight fisted Chairman of ours. Im a fan of Bates but i really thought he would deliver this year in terms of financial backing. He has really done well with Leeds and saved our club but i wish someone with the same business nouse, but with a bit of financial backing would come in. We need investment. Someone made a point today, why are we building a hotel on a stadium we dont own? Surely it will only add to the value of the stadium and we wont be able to ever afford to buy it back lol unless bates thinks it would attract potential investors? HOPE SO

Believable6 Unbelievable6

21 Jun 2011 17:20:07
I reckon theres more to this Kasper transfer than what people are reading into, SG wouldnt except this bid of what i consider peanuts unless he had an ace up his sleeve i doubt hightly that it is Brown because like his surname namesake Wes he is shocking, and i think people need to get off Uncle Kens back, without him there would be no Leeds United Football Club people need to remember that, if Kasper leaves and we get a better keeper in, then fair play to SG so lets see who we get in first before jumping on his and Bates' back

21 Jun 2011 15:41:29
LEEDS UNITED have been linked with an audacious move for former German international midfielder Torsten Frings.

The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, who recently elected not to offer him a new deal, andreports suggest Leeds are in discussions to bring him to Elland Road.

With Leeds in the market for an enforcer in the middle of the park, tough-tackling Frings, who won 79 caps for Germany and appeared in the 2002 and 2006 World Cup finals, would represent an attractive option.

While largely being defensively-minded he is also able to operate across the midfield.

Money is likely to be a major issue with Frings who won a Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich in 2004-05 understood to have been one of Bremen's top earners.

Meanwhile, several Championships clubs are understood to be in the hunt to sign former United midfielder Lee Bowyer, who has been linked with a possible return to Elland Road.

Bowyer, 34, who recently got married, is currently assessing his options with several interested parties keen on signing the Londoner, who started 24 Premiership games for Birmingham City last term and was also part of the side which claimed a historic Carling Cup final success over Arsenal at Wembley in February.

Despite an impressive second half of last term, when his performances were labelled as "terrific" by ex-Blues boss Alex McLeish, Bowyer was shown the door following City's last-day relegation.

This was despite being tipped to stay at St Andrews in the closing weeks of the season, with an offer of a new one-year deal seemingly on the table. (Source YEP) {Ed015's Note - Torsten Frings rumours have been around a while}

For the person who said Bates is trying to stall our promotion bid in order to not pay back huge moneys to creditors, you are completely correct, however it was within 5 years. So if we do get promoted this year (or last for a matter of fact) we have avoided paying huge amounts back :-) Ed can you confirm this? {Ed015's Note - i will do some research tonight about it, its a complicated subject, wil post all results on here, }

================

That was me - as I understand it the CVA was originally entered into in mid-2007, meaning that if your 5 year estimate is accurate, should we be promoted next season we could be liable for the payout. However, I hear from legal sources of mine that Bates may have offered a 10 year period to make the CVA more appealing to HMRC. If this is true then we may have to put up with mediocrity for the next 5/6 years - but then I don't see the point in that because promotion = £90m in revenues and any Bates offer can't be worth a windfall to HMRC of more than £10-20m.

Aaaah, the beauty of a transparent ownership structure.... {Ed015's Note - thanks for that, saved me the hassle off looking tonight, }

Roy Carroll (Free)
Thomas Sorensen (Stoke - Free)

Luis Ernesto Michel (Guadalajara - 500,000)
Brad Jones (Liverpool - Loan with view to permanent at a cost of 500,000)
Dusan Pernis (Dundee - 750,000)
Scott Loach (Watford - 1,000,000)

Grayson is spot on re Kasper. He was a good shot stopper, but at times a bad decision maker, and his combination of confidence and inexperience was not a good influence on the back four. Grayson says he was looking to bring in a better keeper anyhow, so presumably Kasper would have had to leave or be prepared to warm the bench. With his high wages the bench situation would not have been tenable for club or player. I think it's the right decison to move him on from both a footballing perspective and a financial perpsective.

To some extent the player can complain that he has been treated badly, but the Bosman ruling created a two way street.

This is the best thing I have read on here all day, word perfect.

I know a lad who is the matchday photographer for Leeds and he claims that Leeds have already signed Smithy and Woodgate and they are waiting to secure the signature of Bowyer so they can present them as a trio of signings, who knows though ey? Leeds always keep it all under wraps.

As for Kasper if you look at what he says on Sky sports website he says 'he wants to play another season to try and get Leeds promoted' which maybe suggests he will leave after next season, its another tough one though really, I think they have cashed in on his transfer in order to stop him from going on a free next year and leaving the club with nothing again! i agree that they must have somebody in the pipeline in order to sell Kasper (i presume its Kieran Westwood) who is as good, if not better than Kasper plus Kasper was our highest earning player at around 13k a week so the sale of him could free up some money for a bigger signing? {Ed015's Note - As i keep saying, Westwood was in Talks with sunderland}

Once again ken bates puts more doubts in the life long leeds fans by accepting a ludicrous offer from a rival club for our number 1. Yes to a certain extent i understand him not wanting to lose him at the end of the season and not get any money from it but surely he could be vital to our promotion chances this season and if we let him go we will not fill his boots. He has made it clear he doesn't even want to leave so why drive him out? If anything try our best to keep him and build from the back. I just cant understand us being left without a goalkeeper and ken bates and simon grayson not showing the loyalty or effort to get our club where it belongs. Yeah we are going to have a lovely new dart stand and facilities but they wont matter when we get stuck back in league 1. Time to get your finger out bates and think about the team and its future. Keep hold of our best young players and build the team around them. No amount of money should come 1st especially the peanuts your accepting for 1 of our best. Turn down the offer kasper get us promoted and show bates if it's money he's after then welcome to the premier league! {Ed015's Note - i would love it if kasper turned it down and signed a new contract. although i have been told he has left leeds i guess leeds accepting that bid shocked him and made him feel unwanted.... well played bates!}

I'm a little concerned that the lack of signings and the release of decent players all have something to with Bates' deal with LUFC's former creditors. When I went on a stadium tour about 5 years ago, Styx Lockwood (then general manager) told me that on the internationals board (as you walk into the Banqueting suite side, JC Stand) was left open for Alan Smith because he always said he would come back.

Normally the dates are ended when the player leaves the club (1999 - 2003) but Smithy's was never finished with a year. (1999 - )

Anyone been past the board recently? If it is still open maybe Smithy will be back, not involved with England anymore though!
