Leeds to sign danny gabbidon and fitz hall on free transfers after being released by QPR

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Both would do well for us...if we can get players like that (wages?????)

Agree0 Disagree0

Fitz hall is a beast. Get him snapped up please Mr Warnock...

Agree0 Disagree0

I think one size ( Fitz Hall ) would be a good signing but Gabbidon is past his sell by date

leeds have no cash fact, we cant afford ward fact,we cant afford any players fact.
the good news is we will be taken over in the coming weeks backed with money from dubai fact
hope this is'nt to late to buy player, ward wants leeds but bates cant raise the cash fact.
watch this space

Believable15 Unbelievable28

It is not a dubi buyer, FACT.
i posted last week asking for sensible valuation from fans. trouble is it looks like bates dose not want to sell yet as he wants PL price for club - which we will clearly never get.

i will keep you updated when i know more.

Sir Phillip

Agree0 Disagree0

That's not a good thing. Why would we want to be bought out by a Arab or a Russian. I don't want Leeds to be another Chelsea or man city who buy the league. Leeds are a big enough club to progress without or that s#*t

Agree0 Disagree0

So how did we buy Pearce?? so many facts, so little knowledge!

Agree0 Disagree0

How the hell is it Leeds have no money fact? You dont know Leeds united finances fact you believe everything ipswich fans say fact, the YEP doesn't know Leeds united finances fact, Joel ward will take his time to see what other offers he will receive from various clubs fact, and if he does choose another club then that's done to him fact and if we don't get ward as 1 of our players then there's plenty more fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. would rather be a Spurs or a Stoke. with our luck though when Bates finally goes, we'll become an Everton or even a Portsmouth.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather buy league than sit in championship for the foreseeable future or worse...

Agree0 Disagree0

The potential buyers were a canadian group but bates did not want to sell as he is only looking for investors and not sellers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did you get the info about dubai (U.A.E.) mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the last post what does it matter where the money comes from, success is success. I'd rather be in the premier league winning trophies than in the championship just sitting in mid table. Also at the end of the day Chelsea may have exspensive players but those players are loyal, play for their shirt and never give up which is the attitude I'd want from leeds players no matter what theyre worth.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also all the "facts" in this post are quite clearly opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

You will look a plum when the Ward deal goes through tomorrow o.w

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with some of the comment, although clearly an opinion and not a fact. The message from the administrators of Portsmouth suggested we had agreed a fee and terms nearly two week ago but had failed to come up with cash, opening the door for other clubs. - For those saying how can this be as we are profitable, this has nothing to do with cashflow, which will undoubtedly be at a low after investing in stadium works. These will be depreciated over a period of years (lets say 20 years), therefore, build costs divided by 20 years will affect the ongoing P&L, but the cash for the full amount has gone! I suggest that they are awaiting all of the season ticket sales (cash) and any transfer sales before being in a position to fund any transfer. - Not a fact, just my opinion. - JH

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not the point we can't afford to buy these players its bates wont go over 11.5 mil on transfer/wages bill unless we sell some players . our best chance of promotion would be to sell all of our team thats on high wages and players that are worth money . its a shame really that bates pockets are sown up tight as if he had just added 5 mil to the transfer/wage budget we could of kept all our top players and built a squad ready for prem league football . i hope some investment comes very soon and stops the sale of these top players

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is Rafa Benitez posting on here?! FACT! - JamesC

Agree0 Disagree0

Who complained in the Oleary time, we were buying all the top players then and enjoying the success, only trouble was we couldn't pay the money back not like the Arabs

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't know the difference between opinion and fact. FACT!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the 4th reply.

And btw, "I'd rather be a Spurs" - spurs have done the same as chelsea and man city, but with less money. The owner, Joe Lewis, has put a lot of money into the club, and can afford to, since he is the 7th richest guy in Britain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter rubbish, it annoys me so much when ppl make uninformed comments, apart form the Leeds board no one knows what money we have, what wages players get...ect. When ppl state wages and transfer fees in there rumours you know is b****** details like that people keep to themselves. You can however look at the past years accounts and see we are like the only club to make a profit. so if anything we have more money and less debt that almost all other teams. There is nothing stopping bates taking a loan of millions of £ and buy highly rated players but lass look at the evidance yeah so man c have done it but then look at the mess portsmouth, Rangers... (risdale's Leeds) got in. Stop being a tool (fact) and try and use some common sense (fact).

KarlT {Ed001's Note - banks no longer give out loans to football clubs to buy players like they used to. That is why the January transfer window was such a damp squib mate.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Stick to soft drinks next time you go out mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

FACT: Too much B/S rather than posting legitimate sources. Ramblings about fact when the writer obviously hasnt a F****** Scooby do.... 'FACT'

Agree0 Disagree0

Also Bates said himself there was a £20m investor from Dubai but he dropped out due to the protest's, if that money was for players imagine the team we would have.

Another thing, Bates will be with Leeds for at least 3 years, he has the hotel development to look over and casino (I know the stand will be free) etc

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive come to see that every time someone mentions the word fact after a sentence, it is anything but fact

Agree0 Disagree0

You know a lot of supposed facts...how do you know these? bates has cash to spend but the FACT is he WONT SPEND IT!

BATES OUT!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, heaven forbid Leeds ever become an other Man City or Chelsea, one are the premiership winners, the other are the champions league winners.
Leeds are such a "big enough club" they struggled to finish in the top half of the second league.
What a nonsence post reply that was
Money talks, today more than ever.
If Olly or Garth (sic), or whoever want to put their money into Leeds then so be it,

tRip

Agree0 Disagree0

If we didn't have the cash for a second new player, why would Warnock be working hard behind the scenes as per OS 21/05/2012, He would have walked by now for sure. I think we need to be patient, it is early days, no club has really got going in the transfer market yet as players are on holiday. If i was on £10,000 a week and the season was over I wouldn't be in Leeds talking about next season either. Start moaning in August if we are in the same position!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that we should go up by hard work and sweat the club has done it all be4 even when we had 15 points taken away lets all remember 1991-1992 when we won the top flight with hard work and sweat tho i cant stand bates he dont care about leeds just how much money he can get from leeds bates out

Agree0 Disagree0

Greetings my english leeds fans...i am from a large investment team in dubia (fact!) i wanted to buy leeds but Ken said he wanted to wait until the hotel and cashino have been finished he also told me he didnt want to sell leeds until every half decent player has left for pennies and the club is how do english put proper pony like...to all you english who say you do not want money leeds are big enough with out it obivously have not been watching the team as closely as i have from dubia as we/sorry you were not very good at all. and i for one would rather have decent money for decent team to be big like leeds should be...any way sir phillp is out of his mind if he thinks he is buying the club and me and my investors might look to buying brighton instead...fact {Ed013's Note - I hope this is banter because unfortunately I cannot believe what you are saying due to you IP address showing up in London}

Agree0 Disagree0

To the reply who said we don`t know the difference between opinion and fact. Fact.
well that`s just your opinion..

Agree0 Disagree0

For fooks sake. Giv it two or three weeks then start complaining. It's budding economists like posters on here that got Britain in the s**t.

Agree0 Disagree0

Damn edd has got me rumbled, i mean i am from a large dubia consortium based in south east london...and we might want to buy leeds if sir phillp doesnt beat us to it....fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

So what those teams won medals. Do you really want to be owned by a Arab. I def don't. This is Leeds not Abi dabbi. I hate teams who just buy the league and bring over all the foreign muck. No wonder England have such a poor team. Because of all this big money from people who have a new hobbie there is hardly any more schools of excellence hense not enough youth players coming through. Think long term.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha - the "investor" from Dubai can't even spell Dubai! You'll have to try again.

Paddy Kenny & Joel Ward to sign before Friday.

Believable18 Unbelievable15

Why would Paddy Kenny come to a Championship Club from a Premier League club? Massive wage cut from QPR to Leeds!

One of warnocks targets is Peter Whittingham. He will speak to him after his holiday as Warnock looks to sell players before enquiring and talking about the cost and availability of Whittingham.

Believable13 Unbelievable14

Whittingham would cost upwards of 2.5 mill, only way this deal would happpen is if we sold some big players i.e snoddy and or ross. However if we get him, our wing play would be sweet. WONT HAPPEN THO

GRANT LEADBITTER: Former Ipswich Captain and midfielder. Out of contract and was on £15k but they have only offered £5000 wk. He has family in NE so Leeds may be attractive. Midds really only contender. Reckon £7-£9k wage would be realistic and achievable. Probably on hols so
wouldnt expect any movement til mid June.

Believable22 Unbelievable8

He's already had talks with Boro 4 days ago...good signing but wont be coming to Leeds m.o.t

Agree0 Disagree0

Illustrates to all those believing that IPSWICH are loaded that they cant even afford to keep their Captain. Dont believe too much money around this year in Championship and Leicester wont be double dipping too much after last year.

Look's like Clint Hill is not coming to Leeds now he's on QPR's retained list
M.L.L

Believable38 Unbelievable12

Fitz Hall being released though, might be a decent signing

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been offered a contract but has not signed yet. They can't guarantee him first team, we can. You never know

Agree0 Disagree0

Was never gonna happen anyway, Fitz Hall maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

But he loves Warnock and the feeling is mutual - watch this space.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's hardly going to play for them - who wants to be sat on the bench every week at his age.......other than Alan Smith maybe?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not too fussed hes quite old, we need young, hungry players in that can bring us up and stay for the long run

Agree0 Disagree0

Old or not, he's a class act, would love to see him at leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

Warnock wants youth, so Hill was never on his hit list.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 May 2012 15:39:30
rumours over twitter is that joel ward is signing for ipswich is this true i wonder or more nonsence, or maybe another player that wants money and not to play for a massive club.
leeds or ipswich no brainer really leeds much bigger club.
Whats your thoughts ED?
Tim {Ed013's Note - All I know is he should make his decision by Wed}

Believable20 Unbelievable15

Got to say as a die hard leeds fan i disagree, if we are the bigger club why do our targets to to them, we were a big club but just had a really dissapointing season at home and not long ago where in league 1 also our big players always seem to leave big clubs keep beckfords, johsons and gradels that is why norwich, west ham and southampton are all in prem and we are not. you are only as good as your last game and aim as high as you want and i dont think with bates we are aiming that high and no longer a big club, which is wrong the fans deserve more

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of the day we are where we are, economic's seem's to be the order of the day at Leeds.... it amazes me how a player's of the like's of McCormack and Co can demand £750.000 per year salary, get real your not even a good Championship player.

Agree0 Disagree0

He wants to sign for us but we're not paying the transfer fee, so there's nothing he can do about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mccormack is worth 15 k pw 19 goals is pretty good in a team that couldn't put a run of 3 wins together all season

Agree0 Disagree0

Die-hard, life-long Leeds fan here.

Sorry to say that Ken Bates has made it so that we're not a big club any more and we don't have the pull we once did. Think about it - Joel Ward is 22, so for his teenage and young adult years, we were a Championship and League 1 side, not a league winning, Champions League competing outfit.

Ipswich have actually done better than us over the past 7 years.

So many of our fans live in the past - when was the last time we attracted a quality player on a permanent basis?

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is, if I was a player that a few teams came in for, then I would look at a few factors, one would be the manager and what success he's had, as I wouldn't want to sign for anyone who has a rubbish track record.

Secondly would be the clubs ambitions, I would want the chairman himself to give me his word that reasonable investment would be made.

Now as managers go, in this league theres not many better than Warnock, unfortunatly as chairmen go, theres not many worse than Bates, so weighing up the pros and cons, you can see why some players dont want to come to Leeds, we have such a fantastic chance of promotion, but there is loads of uncertainty about investment, and I personally don't think Warnock will still be manager come the start of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Why the fuss about Ward anyway, good prospect yes but so is White and he can't cut it in a Leeds shirt. Maybe Ward will also flatter to deceive so let's have proven performers next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds is, and always will be, a far bigger club than Ipswich. Once we're back in the Premiership all our "die-hard" fans will return and Elland Road will be bouncing again. We've been here before and came back. We will do it again. {Ed013's Note - Die hard fans! I would say the one's that have stuck through the last 7 years are the die hard one's}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed013 - I was being a little sarcastic mate! It would be nice to think those fans that went to that first game in League One, 15 points adrift at the bottom, will be remembered when we do get back. {Ed013's Note - I am very glad to hear that! Its been a long day and so many posts that say the same and ask the same questions!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, you either want to play for Leeds or you do not. Please do not beat people up over who they want to play for.
I fully believe that down the line there will be a few well paid bench warmers who will wish they had kept the faith
The Warlock knows best.

Aidy White has already agree a move to Celtic, done weeks ago

Joel Ward to sign for Ipswich, will be announce in the next 24 hours

Leeds are now to trying to sign Mattock to replace White and Wilson(Stevenage) instead of Ward

Believable21 Unbelievable33

Hear ward was due at thorpe arch for a medical but i think mattock would be a good player to get

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep same rumour ive heared, Ward was waiting till after the play off final, if Blackpool would have gone up he was going there, his second choice was Leeds to join his best pal.

Due at thorpe arch tomorrow

Newly promoted York City are already planning for live in League 2 and have enquired with Leeds to the availability of taking the turner twins and Dominic Poleon on loans at the start of next season.

Believable32 Unbelievable6

I would like this to be true cos our youngsters need to gain experience and why not go help another Yorkshire club. Great to see York back in League 2!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be healthy for the young lads to get into some competitive football

Agree0 Disagree0

Poleon hasnt signed a pro deal yet, so theres no guarantee he will be a Leeds player next season

Celtic looking at Aidy White. If this is true then that would be a good move for him. He will be a superstar in a mickey mouse league like that. YEP states the following however which i don't understand 'Any fee received is likely to be maximised by a transfer involving another English side and United could lose White for a reduced sum if serious interest from north of the border tempts him to move to Scotland'.
Why does it matter, with regards how much compensation we would recieve, whether he goes to an English or Scottish side? Surely the compensation would be the same irrespective of where he goes? The judging panel will value his worth and whoever gets him will have to pay up, right Ed? or, just like politics, if you are Scottish you get everything cheaper than if you were English (he says thinking of uni fees, NHS care etc etc etc) LOL {Ed013's Note - The rules are there for the English leagues. Not sure how the Scottish rules will affect Leeds if this happens}

Believable8 Unbelievable13

Ed - Can Leeds say no to him joining Celtic then or once his contract is up I assume he is free to go wherever he wants irrespective of how much Leeds would make from it? {Ed013's Note - Leeds have no power over his situation once his contract is up. His agent will look for the highest wage offer I imagine}

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I understand the compensation ruling only applies to other english clubs. I remember something similar happening a few years ago at York City when Clayton Donaldson went to Hibs and York got nothing, where as has he gone to an english club they would have been due 75,000-100,000 compo (or something like that).

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the amount of compo we receive is immaterial as we are unlikely to see any of it invested in the squad be it a million or a fiver! {Ed013's Note - So negative}

Agree0 Disagree0

No the football rules are we will recieive the same sum unless he moves abroad in whic=h case we will recieve zilch

Agree0 Disagree0

"No the football rules are we will recieive the same sum unless he moves abroad in which case we will recieve zilch"

Incorrect - if he moves to a non-english club we would receive a reduced sum.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest he is young enough to continue to try and help Leeds get to where the club and himself want to be which is back in the Premier League, however as always it seems no matter what the club has done for you as a player previously money will always talk.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I want to blame Ken Bates, this is yet another rule which shows you how stupid the people who run football are. Its just like how Swansea and Cardiff answer to the Welsh FA, not the English FA, hence some of the suspensions their players get are not as severe as the ones dished out by the English FA.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with poster about Donaldson Hibs did not pay anything to York Scotland is a foreign country so leeds would get nowt , the commnet abou a micky mouse league is partially true as well but there are several decent free transfers leeds should be looking at Ian Black from hearts should be considered seriuosly

Agree0 Disagree0

So if we receive nothing for a player going abroad, why are we due Compo if Kebbie plays for the first team at Athletico Madrid?

Agree0 Disagree0

Under FIFA rules going to a Scottish club is the same as going abroad i.e. we will receive a lower level of compensation than the £1.5m we would receive if he went to an English club

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct a mondo to the FIFA rule, yes we get compensation but no where near the same amount ive been imformed its about 60/70% less, why who knows, typical FIFA and the FA

Agree0 Disagree0

The FA (and even better if UEFA as well) should pull out of FIFA. All they do is cause problems. The whole thing is run poorly (including by FA and UEFA) but it all starts at the top, and the FA can't start running stuff properly until either FIFA sort themselves out, or we get out of it. I doubt that FIFA will be sorted out whilst Sepp Blatter is lining his pockets, so there's one option left.

Agree0 Disagree0

The football world sucks! Why cant there just be rules etc that are standard across the UK/Europe/World?
Just seems daft to me!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not an expert on this subject however i believe if White moves to Celtic they will get him for nothing!

I remember Joe Ledley going to Celtic from Cardiff and there was no compensation involved. Cardiff wanted him to go to Stoke who would have been liable for a £2m compensation package!

No idea how this works but dont think Leeds will get a penny!

Puncheon IN

Snodgrass OUT

:(

Believable29 Unbelievable38

Why would we sell Snodgrass, Warnock loves him and rates him very highly! Warnock said if Snodgrass goes, he'll walk as it will highlight the ambition of Bates to get us up!

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like he will be off because now mccormack ,clayton and white are all off why would snoddy think of staying especially when he is going to see mccormack move to prem league . we will need to buy a full team in my opinion and bates will only spend 2 mil on each player over 4 seasons which will mean we will be paying 11.5 mil transfer /wages on a 23 man squad .this works out at 500 k transfer fee and around £7.250 pw.obviously some players will be on more money but there will be players on alot less. this is still more than the 9.5 mil that bates wants to spend . greedy old man

Agree0 Disagree0

Snodgrass is awaiting to see the clubs intentions through what new signings there are for next season.

He wants to be captain of a side with real premiership ambition.
