Looks like bridcutts still on our radar according to yep. Good player but how many midfielders do we need?

Its not about quantity its about quality. Having said that I don't think Bridcutt is the right choice. We have 'Dave' and Cook. Problem with Cook is that he is still learning but his best position is a key ne an I don't think he is good/ consistent enough yet. He needs an experienced and quality mid fielder on the pitch with him to command the midfield and to bring him on. We haven't anyone of that type on the books. Murphy, Mowatt, Sloth, phillips etc are not good enough. The may improve but who knows. They haven't shown it yet. So I still think we need a midfielder (or two) in an attacking sense. Therefore not Bridcutt. A wide player. I have watched Dallas in the Euros. He is solid but his forte is getting back not going forward. We definitely need at least one centre half. I am not a massive Cooper fan. He's ok and will be the best we have at the start of the season unless we get a good signing on the books. That's not good enough. Hope the Swedish lad does well up front if he comes and maybe Fletcher.

Bridcutt, or a player of his ilk, is key to us challenging up the top end of the table next season if we want to play high pace attacking football. We do have a lot of midfielders but Bridcutt was our only natural holding defensive midfielder last term. Look at Leicester with Kante or Burnley with Barton, having a solid tackler to give a bit of protection to the back four gives the attack confidence in bombing forward and adds an extra man or cover for a FB in Defense going backwards. £2.5m maybe a bit steep for a player Sunderland want rid of but if we can talk them down a little he is one of the best about at this level, proven quality, and he wants the move.

Think the 28k a week is a stumbling block too gummie.

Bridcutt has played enough football at Championship level Martyn_g to know he won't bring home that sort of wage. The fact that he has still stated he wanted to stay with us and that he is now getting Scottish caps, I've got to assume that he is willing to take a bit less (though maybe a key player wage £15-18k ish) and play games rather than bench warm.
As I say It doesn't need to be him, just someone like him, but (and this is a Kardashian size one) he is a proven entity, in this league and, just as important, our team. He wants to play for the Leeds shirt and he has drive and desire, something a lot of the Italian imports have seemed to lack.
Also update: most of the articles I've read have stated that Sunderland want to get back the £2.5m they paid, just read one that suggests they would accept £500k for him (Guessing with add-ons) . Not sure how true that is but would be madness to turn down a player of his quality at that price if so imo.

Gummie I'd have him in a heartbeat, I'm more worried about clubs who will pay better wages than us for him like Brighton, Sheff weds. When I said how many midfielders do we need I was meaning let's get rid of dead wood, free wages up and go for better quality players so I couldn't agree more. Problem is who will want our dead wood? Are they worth a fee or giveaways? Will it cost to terminate contracts? We don't seem to be moving on these fronts yet unless monk wants to have a butchers at everyone when training starts. BTW when does training start and when's the board meeting with the dodgy Arabs taking place. We need that sorting to move forward. MOT.

Think Sheff shot their metaphorical load last year, spent big and didn't go up, they could be quiet this time round.

As for trimming the fat, Bianchi was out on a loan to buy and they are keen to keep him, Sloth has failed to impress a number of managers, good chance he will go back to Denmark, probably on the cheap but if we aren't going to play him then fair enough. That leaves us with, by my count, Diagouraga, Murphy, Cook, Mowatt and Philips. None are dead wood but said last season that Philips would benefit from a loan and I still think that's true. Your then looking at 4 senior mids for 2-3 places (dependent on formation, Swamsea under Monk played 3 I believe) so an extra body would hardly be overload.

You could be correct about him wanting a look at a few before decisions are rendered though. Training usually starts around the first of July so we might wait till they get back from the training camp a few weeks after to see any major outgoings.

What about the board meeting? The state of the Arabs worries me bro. Perhaps it should be them people are demonstrating to sell up.

It got put back 72 hours (which I think meant it would be today or yesterday) . I tend to agree Martyn, we sorted terms for Antonsson on Monday but we are waiting on them, how many transfers nearly went through last season then stalled at the last. Not saying Massimo shouldn't take some blame but you have to wonder if they have scuppered a few deals.

So, GFH have not got a pot to p**s in. They do not have the funds to contribute to the purchase of new players. Enter Steve Parkin to make GFH an offer they cannot refuse.

That would be the best scenario and probably the best bit of business done this close season (getting rid of gfh) .

They might not have any money to offer but you can sure as hell garantee they'll ask top dollar for their share.

The price they'll invent off the top of their head will be enough to scare away any interested parties.

It's going to have to take someone with a lot of bottle, a fair bit of cash and not a lot of sense to pay over the odds for a small share in a club.

The only 2 options are a billionaire coming in to buy the club out completely and that isn't going to happen because let's face it, it'd have happened already.

The 2nd would be for Cellino to buy them out so Atleast when he comes to sell the club he's gotten rid of any red tape with regards to messing about with small stakes here and there.

I also can't see that happening so for now, we're stuck with an owner who wants to up the ante but doesn't want to pay for this special season alone and a finance company who have no finance to offer their own 'investment'.

These people have more money than you or I will ever see in a lifetime.

And they haven't had to work hard like us to get it.

They are leeches, full stop.
